Mario's always has great food and great service.

Food was tasty. Service was fast for a party of 6. Salsa was very good. Overall very nice experience.

(Yes, my name is Mario too, but this is an unbiased review lol) I’m not sure if these bad reviews are talking about the same place I went, but “Mario’s Traditional Mexican Food” in Chowchilla, CA was absolutely amazing! The service, atmosphere and definitely the food were great. We had a large party so Mario, himself, came to check on us. He made sure we had everything we needed. We wanted guacamole for our tortilla chips and he brought the ingredients to our table and showed us how he makes it and served it fresh! He took the time to speak to us which showed that it was deeper than just patronizing his business. Mario is a great business owner, cook, server and overall all… a great person! I would recommend eating here 10/10. If I lived in Cali, this would be a weekly staple for my family. GO EAT AT MARIO’S!!!

My husband got the El Jefe burrito, and it's definitely big enough to split between 2 people. I got a taco, chile relleno and tostada combo. Definitely split it into 2 meals. For those items, chips/salsa and a large horchata it cost a little over $30. We will for sure go back!

Really good food I got a carne asada torta and a carnitas torta. I also ordered an asada sope . The sope did not have salsa or sour cream ☹ but was still good, and I did order take out so maybe eating in would have been better. I had to put the sides to to my torta myself which they could have done, but they were friendly and the food was delicious. I will definitely be back .

Mario's is new to me, they have renovated the former pizza place of my last visit. They've remodeled the interior very nicely to suit the western and Hispanic styles. Friendly wait staff and server helped my group of 8 buddies having a good lunch. Everyone seemed to like their menu items. It was good food and a nice break!

Atmosphere is comfortable and the staff is very friendly. Food is standard Mexican restaurant staples, but, very delicious. My whole family enjoyed their food (a rarity for my pack!). Price is perfect for the portions. Beams and rice taste just like home-made. I had the Flautas dinner plate and they were cooked perfectly! Highly recommend Mario's for any meal, any day!

The food is great. I loved the albondigas especially. I can't wait to get some more. I wasn't a fan of the wet tamales just because I don't like wet food items however I did not ask if they were wet or not I just assumed the were the typical tamales. Even so, they were delicious

Good food and good service. I wish they had homemade tortillas; but overall can’t complain. The owner is very welcoming as well. Definitely a go-to lunch spot for work meetings.

Great food! HOWEVER customer service needs major improvement, first time there and the hispanic waitress did not greet us, did not tell us what the special was, and on top of that she just went up to our table and said, "to drink!?" Her expression was blunt and she seemed like she was having a miserable day. It ruined my day, I was actually looking forward to having a great time at Mario's place. The stars are for the food not the SERVICE.

I was visiting from Fresno for work, and decided to come here for lunch. The food was delicious (I got a colorado verde quesadilla), and the service was quick (immediately with drinks and about 15 minutes for the food). The atmosphere was casual because it had a small town feel, but it was cool to see some community spirit hanging on the walls as you walked in and it had a traveling feel all around the restaurant with shipping crates and license plates as the decorating pattern.

Really good! Had steak and bell peppers. My husband loved their shredded beef tacos. Restaurant is nice. Everything tasted fresh. Will be returning😋

Stopped here on our way to Vegas while passing through Chowchilla, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The food was a bit on the bland side, but still good overall. The salsa, however, was fantastic and definitely the highlight of the meal. For a random spot off the road, this place exceeded expectations. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was nice and inviting. A good choice to stop if you’re traveling through the area.

Server didn't refill our drinks the entire time, serve us chips and dips one time and that's all of it. Didn't came to check if we need anything else until our orders came. Food is average, I tried better at other places in town.

First thing the waitress told us was it had to be cash only, they were having problems with their machines. So we all started trying to figure out how much cash we had. This was just about noon, there was no one else in the place especially no one working on the system that i could see. I would think that would have been a priority, but then again I'm very tech savvy and i know system failure is going to cost the owner and proved that as we each ordered very conservatively, careful not to go over the cash we had on hand. The food was pretty good, not as good as it used to be and the portions were smaller. The place was very clean, they bathrooms were very large and fully stocked. I like the bathrooms were clean that says a lot about an establishment. If they don't bother cleaning the area there customers can see, i hate to think what the kitchen must look like. Anyway it's worth trying again, hopefully their machines are fixed and i can order anything on the menu I'm in the mood for, instead of ordering what i had enough cash to cover on that day.

Nice atmosphere and staff, but the quality of food is unacceptable. F.e. fish taco is made from from a frozen crumbled Walmart quality fish sticks. Guacamole, which is claimed homemade, has some extra ingredients which make white, to creamy and artificialy tasting. Meet quality is mediocre with a bland taste.

Average food. Guacamole was good. Reasonable prices. Bathroom could use a good cleaning. Floors needed sweeping. Food/chips under table. Brought wrong drink. Tried to serve us another table's food order.

I ate the carnitas super burrito. I had a thought that I was eating some type of brown gravy for the sauce. Very nasty flavor. I have no second thoughts of going back. The salsa tasted like V8 juice. I will say it was very busy.

First, this is not Mexican cuisine! Second, what is offered is poorly prepared. We ordered two dishes of Sirlon steak. As a result, we received one Sirlon and two dishes unknown to me. Guys, if you value your time and your nerves, avoid this place!

First and last time here. Taco was soggie and fell apart, tamale tasted spoiled and if it had been made weeks before being served. Rice bland, beans tased like the ones from a can. Enchilada sauce was watered down and had little flavor. My partners food (carne asade) tasted like spoiled meat. Sorry to say, but the owners heart isn’t in it anymore to let go this bad…

First I would like to say that the "salsa" served with chips literally looks and tastes like tomato sauce with a hint of spice. So not very good or authentic tasting. I ordered a quesadilla with shredded beef (to be on the safe side), but unfortunately it was awful. In my entire life I have never been served a quesadilla like this. One open faced tortilla with a small amount of melted cheese, smothered in a red sauce and shredded beef. It smelled and tasted bad. I sent it back and did not want anything. This is my third time eating here and I really wanted to give it a chance, but everything my family and I have ordered has been bad, frozen, or tasteless. Then the manager or owner came over to our table and said he will make a quesadilla how I want it, that he's made them like this for fourty years and everyone loves it. So I agreed to a different one with no sauce, just cheese and asada. Sorry to say, this was bad too and now I have stomach issues. We will never eat there again.

So couldn’t even eat the food that was over priced! This service at this restaurant is absolutely unacceptable. I guess if you’re not a regular from here you don’t get the right service! Shouldn’t even be a running business! Mario you need to really have a talk with your waitresses as this is not my first or second experience of being treated like this as a customer. You guys are an absolute joke as you food isn’t even good quality Mexican food and only reason we do give you business is out of convenience! Hope you take the time as a business owner to really take this feedback and change how you treat your customers that are NOT born and raised here or regulars!
