We stopped here on our way out from Lassen Volcanic NP to have breakfast and they do not disappoint! Food was delicious, wait time for food to be served was average (10-15 min). The owners were super friendly and attentive. I ordered the egg scramblers/Denver and my husband ordered Country Benedict, both were delicious and a lot of food. I recommend this place to anyone looking for good food around that area.
What a find! I have visited many places and this is a gem! They make their food in house to perfection! I usually don't post a favorite item because so close to others but I have to say this place makes the best biscuits and gravy! Made to order an not from a can . I will find a way back just to eat that. The hash is also made in house. Even the sausage patty is made in house. The gentleman in kitchen has a love for cooking. I really suggest making a special trip here to try for yourself. Its definitely worth it.
The Biscuits and Gravy were very good. The gravy has sausage in it. Service was nice, and I was hoping for snow while we were there, but it didnt develop. I'll have to try again since I enjoyed stopping there.
So impressed! This place was great for our family during our weekend trip at Hat Creek. They have home made bread, buns, cookies, etc. AKA its REAL food. They also have vegetarian options, which can be scarce from Sacramento to Portland. The place was remarkably well kept and clean especially considering the average guest is probably coming in from an excursion outdoors. The staff were extremely friendly and calming to be around. The pricing was super reasonable especially considering the work put into the food. There is an option to eat indoors or outdoors. We chose to sit on the patio, where we noticed other guests had leashed dogs with them while eating (so cool!) and the view on the deck is definitely worth going even if you aren't hungry-they serve wine and beer as well. We will be back for sure!
If you're traveling through Lassen or just want to get an amazing sandwich, this is the place. We went to see the Subway Lava Tubes in Lassen, a fun little walk. We decided to have lunch here because it's some place we've never been to and they did not disappoint. My wife got the Rueben, and I got the BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, avacado). My sandwich was good, and fries are fresh. The real prize was my wife's Rueben. My wife says it's the best she's had off the East Coast. Since I've never been to the East Coast, it's the best I've ever had. I highly recommend the stop. The restaurant is clean and cozy, and the staff are amazing.
My Sunday morning drive led me to JJ's Cafe on Highway 89. The smokey air was not ideal to drive any further. Smokey skies and empty streets. Fortunately, the waiter greeted me with a big smile and welcomed me inside. Their wide selection of breakfast and lunch menus was perfect for the occasion. I opted to pick their house scrambler with a side of pancake and a glass of orange juice. The mozzarella cheese and mushrooms was a great addition to the mixture of ingredients. No regrets. A well balanced breakfast.
Friendly staff, food was delicious and came out quickly. Cute little spot to stop and eat. We got a kick out of their sign board too.
Love stopping here traveling with my wife. Food is always good and so is the service. Waitress is always friendly. Highly recommend. We visited yesterday April 28, 2022 with my mom.
Best small town cafe I have been to. We were traveling back home to TX and stopped for lunch. Cool atmosphere, excellent service, and great good. JJ’s is a must see if traveling through Old Station
Definitely worth the stop, especially if you hiking the PCT. The burger and fries were good. The milkshake was the best milkshake along the entire PCT. They provide free WIFI. They provide a water spigot outside for hikers to refill water bottles before long dry exposed stretch of trail ahead. Servers were all very friendly to us dirty and stinky hikers. Nice outdoor patio area to dine.

We stopped here while camping at the end of the season at Lassen Volcanic National Park. It was exactly what we were hoping for! I’m a vegetarian and the veggie scramble was flavorful and well made. Would 100% recommend you stop by. It’s worth the 16 minute drive from Manzanita Lake Campground. John was friendly and helpful. It’s a family ran establishment and you can tell in all the best ways! Thank you for a great meal and warm vibes!

This is the only cafe in the neighborhood and it was pretty packed with tourists. We had to wait for 40 mins for a burger and a sandwich. The people here are very friendly and they made fresh coffee for us at afternoon even though they said they were out of it. The ambience is rustic but we found it had plenty of flies buzzing around. The food was good. We got chicken ranch sandwich and vegan mushroom burger.
Service and food were good. The wait can be a tad long, just two folks running the Cafe, so understandable, in a remote spot of north cal. 7 tables inside, plenty outside. We enjoyed it none the less. Would do it again when in the area!! 👍👍👍👍
We stopped here for a break on our way to Yosemite. Little human rode his scooter and walked in front of the entrance. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is a small cafe but they beer (!) and burgers!! The J&J cheeseburger was really good. I was suprised how delicous and tasty it was. We also ordered pancake that was nore than enough for one person. They have a box for hikers and showers. Bonus: WIFI where you get no signal! So you basically connect to the world again. I had a very pleasant stay. It is times/places like these that make you endure the road.
Just okay for a road trip to stop by for some food.

Party of 2 went for lunch the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. We found the last available table inside, so were seated immediately. The place was packed throughout. We had the sampler platter. It was a lot of food for 2 people, and also very very oily. The chicken strips were nice. The onion rings were too much in quantity. The poppers and mozarella sticks were quite greasy and I think they led to stomach upset later in the trip. If you're going from one side of Lassen National Park to the other, like from Cinder Cone to Manzanita Lake, then this is on the way, so pretty convenient.
Just got plain biscuits. Ate 2 the same day and 2 the next day. They were probably the driest biscuits we've found during our adventures. Don't need to come back.
There's not much else around which makes an evaluation more difficult! It is not air conditioned, just ceiling fans, so it was just ok on what was a very hot day. Grilled cheese was fine, not too greasy. Get Russian dressing on the turkey sandwich,; it makes it better.

No Service!! Tried to eat here last Sunday as we passed through. There was a couple of open tables inside, but it was nice outside, so we told the waitress that we would be on the patio. After 15-20 minutes, we left as she never came to get our order. Some of those empty tables inside had customers now with drinks. Completely unacceptable!!
how people are giving this 4 or 5 stars, i will never know. one of the worst burgers of my life. it truly was raw, blood soaked the bottom bun -- but maybe they do it on purpose because the buns are hockey pucks and need to be dunked in liquid to be chewable. EGREGIOUS pricing for what you get. the "salad" was a sorry pile of romaine lettuce, brown and unseasoned, with a questionable teeny cup of caesar dressing. everyone around us had a similar peculiar expression after their meals were delivered -- some mix of horror, sorrow, and disgust. this is the only restaurant nearby for many of the Lassen attractions, so it's a last resort for those who didn't pack food. that has to be the only way this place manages to stay in business, because it genuinely sucked. the burger bun alone was criminal and i must reiterate how bad it was. not sure if it was stale or made of hardtack from world war one. don't go here, for the love of God.

Worst food I’ve had in years. Avoid. I have no idea how the reviews are so high. Terrible dining room with lots of flies. Hockey puck burger with 1 dead lettuce leaf and two thin onion slices on a stale cold hard bun. I couldn’t make a worse burger if I tried. These folks obviously do not care about what they are serving or charging $20 for. Disgusting.
