We went to Joe's Tavern last night.It was our first time and I can honestly say our dining experience was phenomenal.Pork osabucco was so delicious and it was so tender it was falling off the bone..My salad was perfect.My husband had pizza which was called pigs in a blanket which was equally perfect.Kelly was our server and she was very sweet.I could not make up my mind which dinner to choose and I asked her to pick one for me and it was the perfect choice.I have to thank my friend Rose for referring me to Joe's Tavern and will definitely go back.

Joe's Tavern has great pizza. I would argue it's the best pizza in Cohoes. Probably the best kept secret in Cohoes. Only downfall is no delivery; pick up or dine-in only. I go out of my way to pick up pizza from Joe's.

We just found this place. Just a kind of a little joint by the Cahoes falls. Fantastic food attractively plated. Huge menu. Friendly staff. The owner often comes.out to chat.

Wife and I tried Joe's for the first time last night and we're pleasantly surprised with the food quality, portions and restaurant staff. Don't let the location or decor fool you... the kitchen is putting out some varied and very tasty food. No complaints - we'll be back.

My wife and I went for dinner. It was phenomenal. The waitress was very easy to talk to and very attentive. Food appears made to order as it took a little longer that expected, but it was very much worth the wait. Appetizers - Lobster/scallops pot pie - Streamed clams. Entrees - Baked scallops with rice - Linguini with white clam sauce Everything was incredibly tasty. The pot pie was considered "small" but we thought that it could easily be considered a meal if you're not starving. My wife was worried about how full it made her. She worried if she'd be able to eat/finish her dinner choice, scallops. She was somewhat full when the scallops came out. They were tasty and tender. She wound up eating several and bringing home several more. We can't wait until tomorrow for leftovers. I had streamed clams, a baker's dozen of 13, very tender with great melted butter. That was followed by the linguini with clams. Wow, it was loaded with clams bits and clams in shells with perfectly cooked pasta. Both of our meals were delicious. Before I forget, the freshest bread I think I ever had was served steaming hot fresh from the oven with cinnamon maple butter. Holy $hit. That butter was amazing. They should offer it for sale. It's that good. Seeing what other folks were having brought to their tables also looked delicious. Warming: If it's a hot item be aware, it will be hot -to very hot. Be careful. Ever been warned your food could be too hot? You have now been warned. This is one of those hidden gems that you are lucky enough to find a few times in your entire lifetime.

Seriously, this food is amazing. Just look at the pictures! Very small cozy atmosphere. Excellent friendly staff. (might be family run? Not sure.) Would suggest Joe's to anyone looking for a great place to eat! 10/10

What a wonderful meal we had here. Joe's was recommended several times but we never get over to Cohoes. I'm so glad we finally did it was great and I was shocked by the amount of selection. I had filets which were perfectly done. I can't remember now what else we got because it was a few months ago but it was worth the trip and we will be going back.

No exaggeration, the worlds best chicken parm. My wife and I get one almost every week and it’s always cooked to perfection and loaded with cheese. Never once been disappointed, consistently delicious!

We've been fans of Joe's for a decade. Started eating there when you didn't need a reservation. Mike Fortin did an amazing job with this restaurant. Sorry he'll be selling it. The food is creative and delicious.

I would highly recommend Joe's for dining in or for take away. Did take away with thier veal parmigiana and it was delicious and the portion was very generous. First time at Joe's. Took my girlfriend Kathy. Dinner with Kathy Moore Life is good... MEATLOAF STUFFED W MAC & CHEESE, wrapped in bacon with smashed red bliss potatoes and beans. SEAFOOD RISOTTO sauteed shrimp and scallops in a creamy roasted red pepper and broccoli risotto topped with grilled salmon A very special place. WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Delicious,. Probably the best go french onion soup I have ever had. The filet mignon dish with a Bleu cheese reduction over Rosotto was Amazing. Service was great too. I will be going back.

A true diamond in the rough place situated in a back corner of the smaller City of Cohoes, this place is absolutely amazing. Wings are great, and if you are a fan of hot wings they make a ghost pepper sauce that'll punch you in the mouth, not like those places where the hottest sauce is a mild Buffalo sauce. The Italian entrees and dishes they make are incredible, great flavor profiles and combinations, with some unique dishes to boot. Their standard bar food is also exceptional.

The good and service was very good. My husband had the veal parm and I jad the seafood bake. Mouth wateringly delicious. The green beans and carrots were cooked to perfection.

I own a estaurant in Lake George, and I Live in Cohoes and a fifth generation Cohoesier. I went to Joe’s a couple days ago with friends and the food was absolutely amazing. You will to not be disappointed. You can be sure to trust another restaurant owner when it comes to great food and quality, I give Joe’s tavern 10 thumbs up.

How? There is something magical about Joe's Pizza, like it shouldn't exist. I'm not sure who sold the soul but it was totally worth it. Orgasmic would be the best way to describe it. I woke up this morning and immediately ate some left over pizza. I had dreams all night about it. I'm not sure if it's the sauce, crust, cheese, or the combo but whatever I get on the pizza, it comes out delicious. Chicken parm, to pepperoni, all amazing. They claim to not use MSG or Cocaine but I'm still addicted.

Joe's is a jem. The food is great, especially the specials, and I'm a bit addicted to the wings. Drinks are cold and come quickly, and the staff are lots of fun. For me, an Joe's is an ideal home bar.

Went to Joe's for our anniversary dinner and it was another 5 Star experience. Sliced Sirloin was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Candle was lit upon arrival and the owner personally greeted us. Don't let the outside and front bar area fool you... You can't get a better meal anywhere else in the capital region and we have been to them all!!!

If you could find this place, without being from the neighborhood, from the looks of it, you probably wouldn't think of eating here, probably even after you walked in the front door, and this would be your loss. I say that because there probably isn't any finer food being served at any restaurant in the capital district than at Joe's. They have fantastic pizza and wings but where they really shine at Joe's is the gourmet entrees. Obviously the chef here has been well educated in the culinary arts, it shows! I recommend Joe's to anyone who will listen and will continue to. Oh, and the prices are great too!!!! Go Joe's!!!!!!

A true hidden gem. First time in today and I felt like a regular. Great pizza and everything that came out of kitchen looked and smelled wonderful. Next time I will try the Frutti di Mare. Can't wait.

Wow, Joe's is a best.... Try the Pizza and antipasto😋... It's the fanciest antipasto around and worth every penny. And on weekends they always had some great specials like prime rib and other gourmet entrees that you wouldn't expect from this little tavern. Everything is really good there and they even have craft beers which rotate from different microbrews and if you want just a can of Bud they have it. Kind of tricky find it but it's worth the find.

Exterior of restaurant does not indicate food excellence inside! Friend & I had terrific seafood dinners here. Jason, our server, was not only very friendly but knew the menu very well, too. I will definitely return!!

Great place for dinner! Had the tuscan steak and it was delicious; perfectly cooked and the risotto was very good. It was a very nice surprise to find the quality of food there to be as high as it turned out. Will definitely be going back!

Joined friends there tonight, for two of us this was our first time there. The service was top notch & food was excellent! Stuffed mushrooms we best I've ever had as was the kobe burger. We'll squeeze in one more visit before the open their new place in Halfmoon next week.

We order pizza and garlic knots from Joe’s weekly. We ordered today and the garlic knots were burnt and hard as rocks. The pizza had hardly any cheese and was over cooked. Very hard to chew. We are very disappointed. I hope this was a one time mistake. Last week we ordered boneless wings and they were so over cooked the fork couldn’t penetrate them. I hope the food gets better before they open their new restaurant. Mike Forin, we decided to try your sausage pizza and garlic knots again (cause it’s our favorite) and SUCCESS!!! The pizza and knots were excellent!! I knew it had to be a fluke that our last order was not good at all. Glad you’re back on your game. Keep up the good work!!!

This place is every bit is good as people are saying. Not only is the food excellent but service is lovely and not at all rushed, and the dining room is thoughtfully appointed with a nice new bathroom, table linen and solid eating utensils. People seem to like working there as well as eating there. And the neighbourhood is an interesting place to walk if you forgot to make a reservation and thus have to wait for a table.

We ate at Joe’s last night for the first time, the food was amazing. Don’t turn away because of the appearance who cares when the food is spectacular! The chef came out in a crisp clean white chefs jacket, the presentation of the meals are if you are in an upscale restaurant. I think we just found our new go to spot!

Neighborhood spot...I wouldn't have walked in this restaurant in 100 years if friends of ours didn't recommend this restaurant... and I'm glad they did. Decor is nothing to get excited about but the food is good and the portions are generous. Seating is small... reservations are a good idea, especially on the weekends. Will definitely be back.

Pizza Is Inconsistent But When Its Made Right Its Amazing! Mozzarella Triangles And Garlic Knots Are Awesome. Great Little Place Overall.

Although it sits in the middle of a residential block and has a funny sign reading "Spaghetti Pizza" Joe's has a nice little bar and a little dining room in back. I went with a group of people and we ordered wings, pizza, mozzarella with melba sauce and decided to try the Utica greens. My first bite of pizza crust was a surprise -- it's really tasty! The Utica greens were also a treat. The wings are classic and I wanted many more than I was able to eat. I'll definitely be going back for the food but hope the owner is planning a renovation of the dining room, which has acquired a foul odor over the many years that this place has been a tavern. I'll stick to the bar.

Mixed review. Got garlic knots as an appetizer Came our VERY doughy. Informed the waiter and he said "thats the way they're supposed to be" Um, no. If you dont know how to make them then consider takin them off of the menu. Entree comes out. Something Fructii. Seafood over linguine, that right there was VERY good. Ordered a pizza to go and grim what I hear its still made as the original yet it tasted nothing like the original. Would definetely go back just skip the garlic knots. 🙃🙃

Extensive menu, quality food, exorbitant prices, at least for a visitor from Texas. Felt a little foolish spending $20 on something that I routinely purchase in Dallas for $8.99 and it's just as good, with an equal sized portion.

Ordered take out. The food was ok. The Salmon was better than the over-priced Seafood in Puff Pastry starter/app $18.

Ordered to go. The crab cakes and Alfredo were great. The tacos were Good as well. However, the calzone was horrible. I would not order again. Barely any cheese and a ton of sauce inside (which I have never gotten anywhere else).

The food was the higher end of mediocre. Not great... Not awful. Zero atmosphere, water stains on the ceiling. Fruit flies and house flies were abundant. This was a one and done for me.

Be forewarned that this place refuses local flavor certificates. No notice or warning, just at their discretion due to covid. $45 out of my pocket that I never would have spent had I known. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves!

I Used to like going to Joe's but I don't think I will be going back anytime soon. We got there right when they opened our order was taken with in 5 to 10 minutes THAT was fine but it took an hour and a half to get our food it was cold over COOKED and OVER PRICED over $68.00 for what we HAD it wasn't alot a dozen wings a side of potatoes of the day & a shrimp and scallops dish a small drink Plus 2 bottles of beer . THE alcohol WAS good BUT that was it. SORRY Joe"s Tavern but you really need to CALL Bar Rescue maybe they can help

After seeing the reviews, my boyfriend and I decided to venture down and try this place out. And let me tell you, were we VERY disappointed. The food was poorly timed, service was mediocre at best, and I must say it was very offputting to be met with the smell of cat urine at the door. I would say I'd never recommend this place, but every other table seemed to have a much better experience than we did.

Ordered a pasta dish once and liked it, decided to try their shaved “prime rib” hoagie, it was over $20 and it was NOT prime rib, no seasoning and onions undercooked. Served with macaroni salad that was in the same container which made the already untoasted bread soggy. Disgusting, how dare you charge more than $20 for a $5 sandwich. Will never order from here again.

Joe's is usually good but we just ordered 2 Kobe burgers to go and the bun was too toasted. Too hard to eat. Disappointed. Couldn't even finish eating it.

I was excited to try this hole-in-the wall after reading the reviews and was hopeful when we walked into a crowded bar on a Tuesday night. The back room houses a modest dining area with a pleasant noise volume. The service was lacking entirely; we never got the water we asked for, serving weren't on the table (we had to grab off a nearby table) and we were never given bread. The service was also glacial and judging by the temperature of our food when it finally did arrive, this wasn't the kitchen's fault. The menu is simple and oriented toward pub crowds, but offered almost nothing for anyone with dietary restrictions, notably folks who are sensitive to gluten, casein, fish and/or who are vegan or vegetarian. I'm not sure if fries aren't on the menu, or there just weren't any that night. I would have stuck around to try the entrees, but it's not worth another 2+ hours of my time after spending that *just* for appetizers.
