My wife and I road our motorcycles to Livingston yesterday. The really good seafood restaurant out there has closed down so I started looking for a restaurant on Google. We decided on the Paradise Grill. This is where the problem started. First, the atmosphere was very comfortable and the staff was welcoming. Secondly, the menu had a lot of options and the prices were very reasonable. The final issue was the food. It was FANTASTIC! I had the taco salad and then proceeded to eat half of my wife's seafood combo. (She gets full fast). Why is all this bad you may ask? They are 45 minutes from my house. 😦 I will definitely be back!
Old town feels in downtown Coldspring. Been eating here for a long time! Comfort food , breakfast, lunch and dinner
The food was really really good here! This place is truly a hidden gem tucked away in a little town in the woods. I ordered a BLT with a pot. soup and tots. It was better than most of the places I've gotten a sandwich from. I will be back with special company to try the breakfast.
My Fiancé and I ride his motorcycle out to this cute grill at LEAST once a week! It’s a pretty backroad ride to get there! The parking is easy! The customer service is awesome! They are always so nice and welcoming when we go! This once waitress remembers us everytime we go it’s really cool of her to always come over and greet us!! The food is so so yummy! I always get the avocado bacon turkey sandwich and of course a basket of fried pickles which honestly are the BEST pickles I’ve ever had! They also give you a ton of them in a small basket! We never finish them all! I totally recommend them! You won’t regret it!! Edit! We still come here all the time! Foods amazing! They changed their name but I added pictures of our food!!
Got the BLT and it was huge! I sent a picture to a friend who said “have some bacon with your bacon”… ummm…. Yes, that’s how BLTs should be made! Staff was so very nice. We had family in town so we stayed longer than most and didn’t feel rushed at all. I am allergic to dairy and eggs and the kitchen had no problems cooking for me. We will be back!
I just ate here for lunch with my kids for the first time! It was great! The waitress was super kind! The other people that walked by our table were so friendly which made for a great family experience! Makes you wanna move here with how friendly everyone was! They had plenty of kid menu options so I was able to order all 3 kids food from it which was super cheap!! I ordered myself a steak and shrimp. My steak was cooked a little long but had a good flavor so wasn't too bad. Overall I love the place and we will be back!!
The food was amazing and you can tell that the waiters were trying so hard to please you and they are just the sweetest. Great welcoming and love the little side shop. So cute!!
We love little places like this. Home cooked meals and nice waitresses. However, the Turnip Greens I had were disappointing. They tasted like they were dumped from a can and warmed through. They should be simmered with bacon or at least bacon fat. The waitress was nice but did not come by enough to check on us. Otherwise the food tasted real good.
The catfish dinner was great and my sister had the liver and onions and she loves it. We also had the Ruben sandwich but it was not like before. It was dry and only had about a teaspoon of sauerkraut on it. Hopefully that was an exception and not what should be expected..
Great food and service! It's a quaint little restaurant right on the main route. Easily accessible and great for families. We ordered the hamburger steak with okra and sweet potato fries, gumbo, the Trojan burger with a salad. The onion rings were really good. They weren't too greasy and the batter was good. The Trojan burger was huge! We forgot to tell them how we wanted it cooked so it was a little overdone for our liking.
This was our first visit to the Paradise Grill. We went for lunch on a Thursday. The parking lot was nearly full, and the dining room was busy with the locals. We were seated right away. We chose to partake in the steam table lunch special for $8.99. We had our choice of chicken fried steak, fried chicken, or chicken strips, plus two sides and dessert (or sub one side for a trip to the salad bar. We opted for the fried chicken, which was excellent. The sides were of average quality, and the peach cobbler was very good. The salad bar was well-stocked with a fresh and plentiful assortment. Service prompt and friendly. Overall, good quality and a great value.
Very good country cafe serving up good old American food for breakfast; lunch and dinner. Service is prompt and friendly. Portions are large and the food is warm and tasty. The atmosphere can be described as country quaint with several signs and posters showing an added appreciation for the second amendment and the right of self defense. The place becomes quite busy a little after 11 AM as the local gentry venture out to take advantage of the daily all you can eat lunch buffet. I sampled the open face chicken fried steak sandwich. The CFS was crunchy fried with a light and tasty coating. The mashed taters were just like grandma used to make (not too smooth with some nice unmashed tater chunks remaining to add to the flavor and texture). I observed the open faced beef sandwich on the next table and it looked even yummier than my CFS sandwich plate. However, the real test of a good country kitchen is the pie it serves. They had a nice selection of butter milk; chocolate and pecan pie but unfortunately did not have any fruit pie available during my visit. I tried the pecan pie which was served warm and offered a perfect sweetness to cap off a good meal.
Cute, quaint, modest, simple local comfort food diner that met all our needs that day. I have been craving a BLT for weeks and this hit the spot. Burgers are big—but flattened out, not thick. Onion rings looked homemade. Country fried steak was pleasing. Could’ve ordered off the steam buffet. Waitress was speedy and sweet—never waited on refills. They easily accommodated our group of six. Moderately priced.
The food is sub par. Ordered breakfast. Fried eggs were soaked in oil, bacon was barely cooked, toast had a tad of butter. Wife ordered a bowl of grits. The serving was more like a side item. Server seemed to forget we were there. We were there for 30 minutes until food was in front of us and the place wasn't crowded. We will try again and hope it gets better.
Overall was a nice family place. Small town vibes, home style cooking. Prices were fair. The a/c was lacking. When I came in from the street, I expected to be hit with that rush of coolness you normally get going indoors. But that didn’t happen. They suggested we sit in the back section, but it was a little balmy as well. I ordered chicken fried steak dinner, mashed taters , & salad bar, which was above average. However, I expected to have a dinner roll or Texas toast included with the entree and 2 sides. But it wasn’t an option unless ordered a la carte.
The staff was nice but the waitresses did not pay much attention to us. We had to keep asking for things such as a menu, utensils, napkins, and refills. The food looked and tasted good but immediately after eating, my stomach was very, very upset. I think I had mild food poisoning. I will not be eating there again.
There was only one table when we came in we are a family of six we waited for an hour and a half only to be forgotten about where we watched 7 tables leave. I went and asked where our food was after waiting an hour and a half and the lady was rude and said that we had a big table and the reason all the other tables left is cuz they were one or two people that is not the way it works I've owned a restaurant before and I'm actually a reviewer and I can tell you you do not make a family of six weight for an hour and a half for a small breakfast only to send it out cold this is ridiculous we'll never go back here.
Thought that prior to opening under new management that they would clean up this place. It still smells like a dirty grease trap. When you leave a restaurant smelling just like it because the stench permeates your, hair, skin, and clothing, it's not a good sign. Service was terrible. The waitstaff was very chatty with familiar customers. Hopefully, they will clean this place up because we really need a clean and consistently good restaurant in Coldspring. It used to be a friendly 'meeting place' for locals and visitors. I remember meeting there with our community to watch the 9/11 events unfold. Best of luck to the new owners- I hope you can turn it around!
So disappointed. The place wasn’t busy. Our waitress came right away. We ordered breakfast and never saw her again. I had to go to the counter to ask for a refill. We waited 45 minutes for food that was ice cold. We left.
EDIT!! We just left there and it was so bad today that we will probably never return. Cold tater tots.. cold onion rings.. didn't get the appetizer until the meal was served. Wilted brown lettuce. Never got a refill.. we ordered fish sandwiches. The fish was the only thing remotely warm.. YUCK on the service and the food today. I'm not a local to this place but we do eat here every time we are in town .. and I've never had a bad experience to date. The food was not only QUICK. but hot and delicious. And the service is always on point.. I'll continue to visit this place every time I'm in town. Yesterday we ordered the small onion ring.. steak finger basket that includes drink and hamburger steak . Everything was cooked just right and served with a smile
