One of the most unique Pizza experiences I have ever had. Delicious pizza in a cowboy saloon along with a great selection of beers. It may not sound like it, but it is very family friendly as it sits in Columbia, a preserved historical gold town. Get the pickle pizza, you won’t regret it!
This was my second time visiting this place and my husband's first. It was a beautiful day and, even despite the craziness of COVID, it was quite crowded with people enjoying the early Spring weather. My husband and I both ordered our own personal pizzas (I ordered the chicken with white sauce and my husband ordered some all meat one) as well as a cider and beer. The service, food, and drinks were all excellent. It was a great addition to a wonderful day. I would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be returning there again in the near future!
Delicious pizza and friendly service with outdoor seating. Really enjoyed their organic cider on tap from Indigeny Reserve. A large pizza is plenty for two hungry pizza with slices to spare. We tried a L with half “Italian Sub” and half “Columbian”. The columbian was our favorite - horseradish cream sauce, sausage, salami, and mushrooms. The sauce was something special! Note, they do offer personal size and med gluten free crust. Large pizza with 1 tap cider = 31$
Great saloon makes you feel like you were back in time at times, got some pizza before the 6 hour drive back home and I have to say its really good, did I say it was good? Lol. Prices are not bad we got refered to this place while looking at the buildings and going to the small marketplace across the street from the saloon. He was right, the pizza is good and there are alot of old artifacts for you to look at for a while. Have fun and dont think about it just come in taste their poison and enjoy their food too.
Once again, St Charles lived up to their reputation of having one of the best pizzas in Tuolumne County. We arrived at lunch time, and it was crowded. We immediately found 2 bar stools (many families prefer a table). We ordered within a minute or so, and had our Motherlode pizza very quickly. It was made perfectly as usual. We even got a couple of sarsparilla sodas to match the old time atmosphere.
Service was great! Beer was nice and cold! The pickle pizza was awesome! Will return!
It is the local go to pizza and beer place. It has a great old time bar feel with great food.
This place is THE place. The pizza is excellent, the sarsaparilla is top notch, the beer selection is great and they even offer gluten free crust! The staff was welcoming and undaunted by my large family. Definitely make this your lunch or dinner stop when you visit Columbia.
We came in with a large group and our service was phenomenal. Our food was delicious and as ordered. We were delighted to see the old saloon, sip Sarsaparilla, and enjoy the cozy fire during our visit. We even called our order in ahead of time and the waitresses were so helpful and knowledgeable about their menu. We’d love to come back on a warmer day!
Absolutely amazing staff. They were packed but staff was kind, personable and funny. Pizza was delicious!!!!! A huge XL pizza that we ordered half and half was less money than ordering a basic large pizza at Round Table or Mountain Mikes. The BBQ chicken pizza was so delicious!!!! Literally the best pizza I’ve ever had and I worked at a pizza parlor and could make up my own concoctions.
We were recommended here by John and Susan ( awesome married couple of 45 years ) who are staff/ residents at the 49ers RV resort near by. We absolutely loved the pizza, very very good and the sarsaparilla root beer is a must have. The service was also great, very friendly and attentive.
Best pizza in town, love the wonderful friendly atmosphere also
We've eaten here several times while visiting Columbia SHP now and everything has always been excellent every time. The pizza is great, beers on tap are good, but more importantly the service is top-notch. Staff are so accomodating and friendly, and especially important, each time we've dined with our kids, we've felt welcome. Can't wait to return!
You would NOT suspect pizza this good to appear seemingly out of nowhere, in Columbia, CA. I was staying in Murphys, and everyone in town recommended this place, and it does not miss. This is actually some of the best pizza I’ve had, anywhere, and I’m pretty picky about my pizza. Try the pear pizza if you’re looking for something different. It’s absolutely worth it.
We won a gift certificate at the suicide walk in Sonora and decided to use it to eat dinner. I had the BLT sandwich and my husband had the Italian sub. Staff was super nice and we had dinner outside because we had our dogs. This place has the absolute best sandwiches we've ever had! Super friendly and fast! We will be eating there every time we go to Columbia. Absolutely a great place!
Awesome place with the best pizza! I got the bbq chicken pizza, my husband got the Caliente. We both enjoyed it very much, the cheese pull when you bit into a slice is insane and the crust is perfect, not too crispy, not too soft. I asked the waitress what Sasparilla was and she told me and she even gave us a free sample. Wonderful customer service. Only slight issue is it was very warm in there and too loud with lots of people, would be nice if they opened up the doors for fresh air. Also the wait time is pretty long but definitely worth it. We will be back soon :)
A friend recently recommended St. Charles Saloon for pizza, and we’ve been hooked ever since! The food, service, and atmosphere are all fantastic, and we’ve already returned many times. On one recent visit, there was a small hiccup in service—nothing major—but the staff and owner went above and beyond to make it right. We truly appreciate their dedication to their customers. Can’t wait for our next visit!
I entered this place when I was up at Columbia, California. I have to say it was an awesome experience. I didn’t know what to expect when I sat at the bar. It’s an old establishment that brings you back to the 1849 miner times. I close my eyes and imagine a shootout between outlaws and the saloon working in full with a piano going. Then I open my eyes to some beautiful women dressed for the part. The pizza was great. I ordered the other load, thought it was fitting for the time and the place. They probably didn’t have pizza back in the 1800s just a saloon full of outlaws and individuals looking for pay dirt. Either way I really enjoyed this place. The people were friendly. The staff was great on the music was on point. I will definitely be returning here.
We’ve been here so many times and this place is hands down our favorite pizza around. The cheesy breadsticks are delicious and they have really good ranch. It does get busy but I feel like they get the orders out quickly. We normally spend a few hours walking around Columbia and then grab pizza to go and it’s still delicious 45 minutes later. If you haven’t eaten here, please give it a try. Your life will forever be changed. Thank me later.
First time in Columbia, Ca. A local friend recommended the place. Ordered their chuck pizza, pulled pork pizza, artichoke bread sticks, sarsaparilla (love it!) and some blueberry or somethin seltzer! We love this place!
We love St. Charles pizza! Handmade dough, fresh ingredients, and NEVER get an upset stomach. Personal pizza is $10 and 4 toppings .❤️ 🍕 ❤️
Best pizza I've had in California. I have actually eaten here before, and it was good, but yesterday we stopped through after a hike nearby and ordered the prosciutto pizza (added pepporni). Also ordered the mini breadsticks with beer cheese. That was good, but this dang pizza! Stole the show. It had the best crust, perfect flavor combination I've had on a pizza in a long time. I'm not even a huge pesto fan, and yet it just went perfectly. My only complaint is I wasn't as hungry as I'd liked to have been so I could have eaten more! But don't worry, I took it home and air fried it back to life and let me tell you, it comes back great! This will now be my "too afraid to try anything else because it's now my favorite order at this place" order. Seriously. Go get this pizza and then thank me later! The staff are great, quick, and attentive. They have great beers. Indoor and outdoor seating. Also, I'm an Ice Tea guy and not sure if it's instant or brewed, but I really liked it! I messed up the cheese pull video, but just look at it! Amazing!
Some of the best pizza in the area. The crust is amazing and has a super good crisp and crunch. The pesto prosciutto pizza was one for the books. Come here and check out the great selection of unique pizzas. They have all sizes from personal to the larger family sizes. Many other food options that also sounded really good.
Nice place. Can get crowded. The food was good and the service wasn't too bad either. We'll eat here again. Update: We've been back three times. This is my new favorite place in the area. I absolutely love the chicken sandwich. Highly recommend.
Great atmosphere.. Local feel. Service was top notch!! Totally on task, and professional. The calzones and pizza were amazing. Perfect ratio sauses to toppings. Crust crispy but fluffy..❤❤ Perfect place to pick up a quick pizza. Or sit in and enjoy a real saloon!❤❤
Family friendly Bar and 🍕Pizza Restaurant. Best Calzone ever, no doughy inside, cooked to perfection. Waitresses all hustle, great beer, great food,& Great service.
Absolutely love this place The “Caliente” is definitely a must (if you like spicy). It can get very loud and busy on the weekends, especially if you are with a larger group . It’s nice that they offer outdoor seating on a nice day.
We had Hippie pizza (substituted the sauce and a topping) and it was great.. Esther was amazing with a perfect score on service.. Place ambience is great with lots of options to eat and drink.. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. There is indoor and outdoor seating
Thank U Austin..The big friendly bear..lol He treated us like family.. The sarsarilla is so refreshing hit the spot.. We got the extra large pizza peperoni sausage..So hot and cheesy..del8sh!! We will be back!!
Great food, great service, and a location that feels like you're in a movie- The pizza here was just incredible. Flavourful, rich, and everything you'd expect out of a good pizza. The service really was just top-notch too, constantly checking up on us and just being friendly overall. The location really did bring this whole exeprience to another level. It's as if you're dining in an 1800's Saloon. Really cool.
The pizza here is so good. I got the Italian sub and the pickle pizza. The ingredients are super fresh. The crust is nice and crunchy. Check it out. They have some unique sauces. I believe both of mine had the pesto garlic ranch. It was an interesting combo but man it was good. Complimented both pizzas perfectly. You would think pickles on a pizza wouldn't work but they definitely know how to make it work. If you love pizza and are in or around Colombia, CA go to St. Charles Saloon

The pizza was amazing! Even the cauliflower crust pizza was good. They put a ton of toppings on the pizzas!

I make sure I stop here every time I'm in the area and in the mood for pizza! It's definitely the best pizza around, served in a fun historic building! The staff is great and they dress the part of the Gold Rush time period. The beer menu is fantastic. Eating inside is great, but I recommend eating outside when the weather isn't too hot in the summer or cold in the winter! It's a must try!
The best pizza, sandwiches and calzones!! Many beer brands and a little wine. It's in a 1800s building with a large wood burning stove for heat. There is a large bar to sit at with the locals. The atmosphere is loud and friendly. Usually packed at the peak dinner hour but the wait time is short if at all. Don't go dressed up. This is very casual and 'country'.
This is the best pizza place in Tuolumne county hands down. The chuck, Bbq Chicken, cheesy breadsticks, artichoke dip breadsticks are all top tier. And the ranch is to die for I have bought a giant cup of it before and used it all. 10/10 will always come here
Been coming to Columbus State Park for years and have had the pizza from St. Charles Saloon. Oh man, have I been missing out. The saloon is original and maintained just as it was built in 1856. From door entrance and knob, windows, bar counter, historical portraits, art work, vintage tools, animal head mounts, and our waitress was even wearing a semi-looking outfit from the era of Columbia's start. I came with a friend to sample two variety of pizza around 11:00am. There was plenty of open free parking, few fellas there enjoying a beverage, and conversing. Plenty of open seats & tables. We each ordered a personal size pizza of their Chuck and Buffalo Chicken. The Chuck was my favorite. The crust was the right thickness, toasted right, balance amount of gooey mozzarella cheese, garlic ranch sauce, 3 kind of meats, and veggies. Amazing! They even sell sasparilla. After we left, many had started to come in. We came at a great time to avoid crowds and any wait time. I highly recommend and I'll be back!
They have the best pizza in the area, and I love their super breadsticks. I feel like I get great value for the prices. Service is great for how busy they are.

The Place is really old! Beautiful with the old counter bar, register, and a bunch of animals on the walls. Really old west. The food was good. Be careful with the chicken sandwich is hot beyond any possible imagination. I wasn't able to finish it, and I didn't feel my tongue any more. The pizza is the real deal here! Delicious! You can make your own and the crust is crunchy. Beers are also a must! Nice local excellent selection. I got the tangerine and I loved it. Prices are reasonable for the quality and the location. Highly recommended.
Great food, drinks, and service. Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Place gets very loud.
Really good pizza and very reasonable prices. Had the pickle pizza, hippy pizza and an Italian salad. Pickle was better than expected. 10 minute walk from the airport. Outdoor seating. Staff wears masks, patrons mask wearing is mixed but at least it's outdoors.

I would give this restaurant a 3.5 rating. We got takeout during a recent trip. The large Italian salad was delicious but would feed 4 adults - it was way too much for just two people. We also got the Motherlode pizza - which tasted good and the crust was on the thinner side (which I like) but there was very little to no sauce on it. I like some sauce on pizza and I could not taste it on this one. All in all a good experience but I would not rate the restaurant as great. I would give it another try and maybe get a different pizza.
First time here, and likely the last. The pizza was just OK: med dense crust, toppings OK. The issue is the service. I received the wrong pizza, and my server disappeared. (Ordered med sausage, got large pepperoni) started eating anyway. After nearly an hour where the other servers played the not-my-table game, I tracked the server through behind the bar and she offered to make a new pizza. I agreed and took it to go. Overall, not a good experience.
We stumbled upon this place on our way home from a hike. It was around 6:30 p.m. and it was not super busy. There were some empty tables. It was our first time here. Nobody greeted us when we walked in. Maybe because we're Asian?! A couple of employees saw us at the bar but they ignored us. We figured they were just busy so we just stood there and waited patiently. However, when we finally approached a waitress at the bar to ask about their hours and menu, she was rude to us and she didn't really want to help us. We almost left, but another server there was kind enough to help us. Samantha was welcoming, kind, attentive, approachable, and she was very good to us. If it wasn't for her, I would give this place a 1 star for the way we were treated by the first waitress. As for the food, the appetizers and calzone we ordered were delicious and the wait time wasn't too long.

Tourist: Service sucked. On a hot day waited 27 mins before getting our drinks other ppl came to the bar got waited on before us. Didnt bother to check on us the whole time. NOT KID friendly. OR TOURIST friendly. Waitress w/long black hair gave attitude when requesting basic things like ranch and refills. She was fast bringing us a box when we didn’t ask for one. Didn’t provide enough plates for the table. 3/10 Pizza was basic Older man w/glass was Amazing tried to help after noticing our irritation. After all the times I been to Columbia I will not go back there.
