We came here for a Sunday evening birthday dinner and were really impressed! We parked in the garage public parking spots, which seemed to be free for 6 hours this day. You do have to go inside the hotel and up the elevator to get to the restaurant, but the inside is gorgeous. You can chose to eat on the patio, at the bar, or in the dining room. We ate in the dining room. At 6pm it was completely empty, but eventually a couple tables ended up coming in. We got the lavender haze and the seasonal cider, which for then was an apple pie cider. I thought the apple pie cider tasted like the grapefruit beer from epcot (iykyk) and it was delicious. My lavender haze had floral elements and this creamy undertone. It was super strong and I could barely finish it because it was very rich and strong (but it was delicious). Happy about that given the price. To start we got the french onion soup and the grilled octopus. The grilled octopus was a little strange. The meat itself was cooked nicely, and the potatoes were nice, but there was a citrus note from I guess the Arbequina olive oil or something that was a little too overpowering and sour. The soup was amazing! I always get french onion soup if it’s on a menu and this was really unique. The crispy onions on top were delicious, the broth had good flavor, and there was plenty of cheese. Good price for the soup too, which made up for the octopus. For our entrees, we got the scallops and the king salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The scallops had a great sear, and the sauce on the side was a nice addition. I really enjoyed the mash potatoes, but I think something else could’ve been added for a bit more punch. These entrees were expensive, but they did have that luxury feel for something special like a birthday. We really liked this place and would love to return for some bar treats!

The atmosphere is top-notch. Service is fantastic. And the food. Wow. I went with three other people, and we ordered a couple things each, so I got to try a lot. One note: Don't bother with the Fireman Burger. The meat wasn't seasoned well, the rest of the flavors were meh (save for the loster, which was good), and there wasn't good balance to the burger. Two of us got one. The meat was overcooked in both. Everything else we got was so good, though!! - Wagyu beef carpaccio - perfect. - Grilled octopus - cooked perfectly and delicious. - Charcuterie - great mix, all yummy (the honeycomb and fig jam!). - Hibiscus poached pear V - perfect balance (and good!). - Seared sea scallops - cooked perfectly, excellent sauce, great potatoes. - King-salmon - if this sounds at all interesting to you, get it. - All of the cocktails were on-point as well. We will be back!

Great place! Menu gives you plenty of variety and plenty variety on price. Dennis took great care of us! Cocktails were outstanding. Sides fed 4+ people beautifully. Pics will tell you the full story

This review is for the holiday party for 65 guests we had here in December. Our company has had a holiday party at various restaurants for the past 10+ years, and the feedback we received after this one was that “it was the best one yet”. I worked with the Event Manager, Terri, who was fantastic to work with. She carried out every detail and worked with me from start to finish (including being present during the entire event). Her team was wonderful. The food was delicious (that pasta bar!!). The music, decor, cocktails, champagne wall, etc - all of the details made the night extra special. Thank you for providing such a fun and flawless night!

This place is lovely. Perfect for a date night, solo dinner, or friend catch-up. Great ambiance and excellent food. Our server, David, was incredibly attentive. The creamed spinach was A1! I forgot to take pics, but take my word for it. Highly recommended. Would definitely go back and sit on the patio. Parking is free in the garage after 5p, and the restaurant is inside the West and Main Hotel, second floor. Enjoy!

This place was pricey but I have zero other complaints. The people were great, the view is awesome, the drinks and food were amazing. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual but also upscale, and I was able to sit and enjoy the people watching and not be bothered. My server came to check on me and recommended her favorites on the menu but then left me alone to read my book and enjoy my solitude. I had an amazing gin drink that I'm forgetting the name of but it had jawn in the title, the cauliflower app, which was to die for, and the scallops, which were delicious. I highly recommend this place, every seat is a winner, every dish really special. I can't wait to come back.

Great food had the Scallops and Sea Bass. Great bites. The cocktail menu is also fabulous. Highly recommend!!

Had a drink at the beautifully designed restaurant and bar in Conshohocken. Great outdoor seating areas with heaters and 2 sided bar. The decor was done so tastefully and elaborately, with a firehouse theme as a nod to the original firehouse on this very same site. Try the potatoes chip and caviar appetizer.

Bar is on the second floor of the Hilton and partially including an old Conshy fire station. Hilton did a great job of creating and amazing space, while honoring the integrity of the historic building. Food, drinks are creative and fun.

ituated within the historic Washie Firehouse, a distinguished local landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Hook and Ladder offers a unique dining experience. Built in 1877, this iconic brick building formerly housed the Washington Fire Company. As a standout among Conshohocken, PA restaurants, Hook and Ladder's converted firehouse dormitory serves seasonal, locally sourced cuisine in an approachable, sociable atmosphere. Experience elevated dining amidst lively ambiance at this relaxed restaurant and sky bar, featuring globally inspired flavors, bold spirits, and panoramic views of Conshohocken, complemented by a modern draft room.

Went here tonight thanks to my husband and kids for an early birthday dinner. The food is emaculant and definitely a chefs kiss! Their is nothing bad to say about this restaurant at all. The waiters and waitresses are so polite and welcoming! The ambiance is so welcoming. Would highly recommend

The service was amazing, from the moment we arrived all the staff was attentive, and welcoming. Our server was funny and so engaged, plus the chef even came out to meet us while it was quite busy. The oysters were delicious with the champagne vinaigrette adding the perfect brightness and acidity. My waygu was cooked perfectly, and the braised short rib my best friend had was also wonderful. Even the drink that the waiter recommended was perfect for what I was craving that evening. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a some time.

Hook & Ladder had a great vibe this past Friday night. Live music, great cocktails and one of the most tender steaks I’ve ever had. The tuna bite appetizer and my wife’s salmon were delicious.

This restaurant is beautiful. My wife & I went for dinner. The atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious. I can’t post our main course bc I made it a video. I will definitely be coming back again.

Good drinks, fun bar, pricy but cool food options. Bar is good for quality hanging out. Restaurant probably more of a special occasion option.

Was execited to check out the restaurant on its first day open to the public. I expected a little bit of disorganization given that fact, but was pleasantly surprised with how well everyone operated - definitely didn't feel like Day 1. Cocktails were creative. Had apps of carpaccio and oysters for and the beef was particularly delicious. For the main course had the 8oz filet with truffle butter + truffle shavings. Accompaniments were wonderful, but the steak itself was one of the better steaks I've eaten. Good char and seasoned perfectly. Had the asparagus, creamed spinach, and mashed potatoes for sides and they were all good but a bit standard and pricey for what you got. But again, the steak just really hit the spot. Service was good. Instrumental rap classics in the dining area + live acoustic guitar created a nice ambience. Decor felt like what you'd expect from a high-end hotel restaurant and was nice enough. The exposed brick of the original firehouse gave everything a nice feel. I definitely want to return to hang out in the bar area and to try another steak.

This was a trifecta. Perfect weather for the outdoor ambiance. The service was impeccable. The food flavors were robust and flavorful.

The beauty of the old firehouse preserved and entwined into the bougie hotel is worth the trip just to experience this historic building. Don't miss the restaurant and ooh the firehouse inspired food and drink! What are you waiting for?

N

We ordered the crab dip, charcuterie board, Brussel sprouts, a down the shore drink and a hard cider. They give you bread for the table. Our waitress made sure she checked on us. Also no long wait. Enjoyed the drinks food and atmosphere. A cute date, solo, or with friends.

Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service was attentive without being overbearing, and the food was simply exceptional. The staff was friendly and made us feel genuinely appreciated as guests! We will absolutely be back and will be recommending it to everyone we know!

The food and cocktails were great. Highly recommend the cauliflower app and the Chilean sea bass. Both are phenomenal. The seasonal sweet potato old fashioned was superb! Great bar staff.

Came here during a Saturday, there was an event in the courtyard with dogs that was really fun to see a whole plethora of people with their dogs. Very cozy atmosphere and view on the balcony on the second floor. They do music on the weekends and the performer Erica was rocking some Stevie Nicks, The Eagles, and Pink Floyd!

B
Bri Kennedy

Great ambience, great service and great food. We were very happy with all of our selections for drinks, starters, raw bar and salad. We came too hungry and couldn’t finish our entrees but ordering everything was absolutely worth it. We both got the braised short rib and it did not disappoint. The only thing I would say is that I was expecting to be up on a higher level (not the second floor) but that was my bad in not doing proper research :) the open “sky bar” has fun vibes regardless and I’ll absolutely be back again.

First off our server Sophia was excellent!! From her recommendations to checking on us periodically to make sure everything was well. Went in for an impromptu birthday celebration and left making plans to return for a meetup with friends. We had the grilled oysters small but good. The crab cake was so good and full of crab. Our entrees consisted of a steak that she recommended sorry can’t recall the name and I got the braised short ribs. Everything was seasoned well, tasty and filling. Would definitely recommend this place to friends.

The restaurant is very clean & aesthetically pleasing, the outside lounge area attached to the lobby is cool too. The parking lot right in front is also a plus. As for the food the dessert was the best part of the meal, dessert was better than what most restaurants offer. Bread pudding was great & the ice cream had an amazing taste! Most of us ordered the caezar salad to start, it was ok & it was a bit of a wait for salad with an empty restaurant. **Maybe start the guest with bread & butter if the wait for appetizers will be so long** The braised beef ribs were tender & the carrots were really good. Instead of gravy I believe majority of us were looking forward to bbq sauce. I put bbq sauce on my leftovers at home the next day would definitely recommend that instead of gravy. Our server did a nice job & made sure everyone’s order was correct. The bathrooms need more tissue & the sink was hard to turn on I nearly gave up lol. With the pricing people expect top tier across the board

First time here. Food was good. We had the braised beef rib with baby carrots and truffles mashed potatoes, oysters, Chileansea bass, ny strip steak and signature salmon with sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Good portion but too much sauce. It was moist and tender. Definitely pricey. I don't even want to say how much it cost for 4 of us but it was a nice experience. Oh and some of the drinks were unavailable that were from the menu and very limited non-alcoholic beverages. They give you bread with butter for the table. It was pretty good. The desserts especially the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and creme brulee were pretty tasty. The atmosphere is beautiful inside and out. Definetly a restaurant with a story. The service was amazing. The only thing I don't like it right from the get go, we had reservations and the seats were right by the bathroom. Um no. We asked for different seats. Especially when we ordered ahead and there was a whole side that no one was even sitting at. Other then that hiccup, we were ok. Overall, 4/5

What an intriguing new entry to the Conshy dining scene. Very cool decor. Lively vibe. Outstanding meats. And an incredibly fun and delicious $99 burger. Shockingly, the Firehouse Burger (sans bun - I'm Keto) was more delicious than I expected it to be. And worth the ridiculous price point (order the waygu beef medium rare tho!). I hear that they're going to offer some epic brunch options soon. Will be back.

Stopped by Hook & Ladder for an after work drink. Selection is pretty good and service was quick. The environment is definitely more elevated than the typical bar in the area which makes it a great business casual option.

This was my second time encountering Isaiah, and once again, he was amazing—even though he wasn’t technically our server. His attentiveness was next level. We never had to ask for anything—he simply noticed and stepped in. That kind of service is rare and absolutely deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the carpaccio was a miss—I had to send it back. As for our actual server, Alex… he was just mediocre. Not rude, but not engaged. He moved through the motions without much warmth or enthusiasm, and it felt like we were just another table to get through. Even after leaving a tip close to $50, there was no “thank you” or acknowledgment. A simple gesture of gratitude goes a long way, and it was noticeably absent. Shoutout to Isaiah for setting the 5-star standard. He’s the reason this isn’t a 3-star review. Oh I will not be back.

This restaurant has phenomenal food and drinks. The service and attitude of the staff is a little shaky depending on who you get. Sometime bartenders are clueless, sometimes they are super attentive. Waiter was very friendly but didn’t prioritize a table of 6 that was clearly spending high dollar leaving for long periods of time without checking in.

R
Rich Moore

The atmosphere is amazing. We went for the daily happy hour, and the service was very slow. The food was fine, but I would only go back to take advantage of the happy hour prices because the price for drinks outside of the happy hour special seemed excessive.

Our group were 16 people and seated at 3 tables. We got a small menu to choose from for salad, main course and dessert. Probably understaffed on Monday night, and servers/helpers put the wrong items to separate individuals. We had shared appetizers, spicy tuna bites and cauliflower were fine. I had Caesar salad and King Salmon, tasted okay. Mashed potatoes (shared) were little diluted. Asparagus looked dry. However, the most disappointed dish was Creme Brulee. It was in room temperature. Why? Should it be hot or cold? Should it the top be crispy? Well, it was different...still disappointed.

Dining at Hook and Ladder, nestled within the historical embrace of the Washie Firehouse, offers a glimpse into a past where every brick tells a story, and the present seeks to write its own culinary chapters. The ambiance is an ode to elegance, with a bar patio that whispers tales of endless nights under the stars, inviting guests into the fold of its timeless charm. With the mother-in-law in town, we embarked on a quest for a meal that would ignite our palates like the firemen who once called this place home. The service shone bright, a beacon of hope in the bustling night, promising a feast fit for the heroes of yore. Amidst the menu's ambitious offerings, it was the Truffle Mashed Potatoes that emerged as the unlikely hero of the night. These spuds were no mere side dish; they were the main event, a creamy concoction so rich in flavor, we momentarily forgot our entree anxieties. The King Salmon, while regally presented with its saffron rice and smoked gouda cream, faced a mutiny in the form of its mushroom accompaniments--a mix of the perfectly tender and the disappointingly tough, casting a shadow over its reign. The NY Strip, a steak that aspired to medium-rare greatness, found itself lost in translation, arriving at our table cloaked in the guise of medium--a noble attempt, yet not quite the culinary conquest we had hoped for. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, meanwhile, promised a sea of flavor but delivered an ocean of filler, its dry texture leaving us adrift and searching for the lusciousness of lump crab that was promised but not provided. Hook and Ladder, with its historic charm and aspirations of culinary excellence, finds itself at a crossroads--between the potential of its setting and the reality of its plates. While the service stands tall, the inconsistency in the kitchen casts a shadow over what could be a beacon of contemporary American dining. In the end, Hook and Ladder is a tale of what might have been--a restaurant with the soul of a firefighter, brave but not without its battles. Here's to hoping future visits reignite the spark, transforming potential into a blaze of culinary glory worthy of its storied walls. Until then, it's a smoldering three stars, with the Truffle Mashed Potatoes holding the line amidst the culinary flames.

Food was bland. Rolls were hard and dry. I asked for well done salmon, the waitress recommended I get it medium well. I am in the industry myself, however I appreciate her recommendation but I like my fish cooked throughly. Salmon came out and it was for sure medium. It’s sad because the taste was good and I would’ve finished it if it was well done. Lavender drink was the best thing from there that I indulged. Service was mid. My girlfriends had braided rib and they enjoyed it.

The atmosphere was great, and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet expectations for the price. Our cutlery wasn’t brought out when the food arrived, and since the staff were quite busy, it took a while to get their attention. By the time we got the utensils, the food had already gone cold. Overall, a bit disappointing.

The drinks here are delicious but the martinis are smaller than your average martini and no it is not my imagination my gf who I dined with even agreed . Service is the one thing that stood out eveyone was extremtly friendly and attentive . Atmosphere cozy and fun . Let’s get to the food . Shear disappointment . We wanted something filling but quick so we got the tuna negri hand roll . It is NOT an appetizer but an actual entree so we decided we would share it . For $46 this is what came out . Not only did it look like a scene from the last of us but this was visually one of the most unattractive plates ever . Taste was okay . Had this been an appetizer for $25 I would not complain . Even at a high end sushi place they would never ever charge this much for less than subpar sashimi /sushi rolls. Would we visit again ? Yes but strictly for drinks

The service was top notch and the decor is really nice, it's a shame that the food just isn't that great. Lobster bisque was unlike any I've tried before and not in a good way, it was too salty and not creamy like you would expect, just had a weird flavor. Salmon was too fatty, American wagyu just tasted like a regular Walmart steak. If they got a new chef I'd come back cause everything else was great.

J

Food Great! Drinks Good! Service not Good! We literally had to flag someone down 5 times during our evening. 1 to get a drink. 2 to order food. 3 and 4 to get a beer and a glass of wine. 5 was to ask the hostess for our check ( she was texting on her phone). We weren’t the only ones. The bartenders didn’t want to wait on anyone. I’m over Hook and Ladder!

A

Our experience was unfortunately disappointing. While the atmosphere was pleasant, the quality of the food did not meet expectations and was significantly overpriced. We ordered the Wagyu steak, which was listed at $150. Based on its excessive fat content and overall taste, we have serious doubts that it was genuine Wagyu. The steak neither looked nor tasted like Wagyu, and we do have photos that clearly show the amount of fat present. It was not at all reflective of the quality typically associated with Wagyu beef and was certainly not worth the price.

L
Lisa Bruce

Update***** I went back today for their happy hour specials. The drinks were better than the food. The sliders were awful. The wagyu burgers were dry. The chicken sliders tasted like mystery meat. The worst part of the sliders is that they were on potato buns you can purchase at your local grocery store. Other than the great server trying to rectify the situation, I don't recommend eating at their happy ever!! The place was a ghost town and I now know the reason. The restaurant should invest in quality of the happy hour food as isn't in comparison to the brunch, lunch , or dinner quality. I would recommend going to a happy hour like Southern Cross or anywhere else in the area for a better experience!

Significant decline in food. We dined several times here mostly last year and what a difference! According to the manager they recently promoted some of their line chef to sous chef, so maybe that is the reason for poor quality food? We dined here for Bastille day and expected better or at least what we knew last year. The menu has changed there used to be a foie gras steak which was wonderful, all gone. We had Two orders of grilled octopus had to be returned overcooked, shriveled potato’s that looked frozen or cooked a while ago then served. Oysters that were NOT fresh and not worth the price. The charcuterie board, no explanation on what the cheese was, 3 cheese and 2 meat selection with the prosciutto tasting moldy. Did I see that the chef Edward Hancock had bees at the restaurant so that he may use its honey, yet the honey charcuterie came with was not fresh. The filet mignon was very overpriced but at the least cooked as we requested. The seabass with Brussels sprouts- the Brussels sprouts were again cooked and sat, stagnant no crisp just mush and no flavor. Despite all the items above that were removed except the charcuterie, the bill had automatic service charge of 20% for table of 3 kids and 3 adults and very overpriced poor quality food. We had a manager come who started 3 months and informed us about the new promotions of sous chefs. They made no attempt at remaking the octopus dish just took it away and removed 3 dishes from the bill which is appropriate and one complimentary glass of wine that my husband had to insist be complimentary. Overall the place is beautiful with a terrace but rhe food was badly made, unpalatable and overpriced. inexperienced staff and very new manager that only had apologies and no accountability for the disasteroua dishes served and only did the minimum. We won’t be dining from full menu again they should just nix the restaurant and just be a skybar. You can have better steaks from your own grill with better quality than here.

Place seems disorganized and poorly ran. Saw someone previously said that this place seems understaffed, and they’re right. Server took over twenty minutes to greet us because she was running around. I guess the managers weren’t doing anything that night to support their staff. So we asked for a manger to come over, blonde with glasses, and she didn’t seem to care. Seriously uncomfortable.

This was my fourth visit to Hook & Ladder and let me just say this place used to be an EXPERIENCE. There were 2 guys named Eric running the place and the service and ambiance were FANTASTIC my first 2 visits. About 6 months after my second visit I came for a third, what a difference, unfortunately. The whole feel of the atmosphere has completely changed. The staff seems miserable, the portions were smaller, the food not as tasty, the music was some kind of club music, the “manager” looked like a scared 16 year old boy wearing his older brother’s dinner coat, and seemed genuinely terrified when we asked why our food took over an hour. My fourth (and, needless to say, my last) visit was excruciating. This place seems to have fallen into pure chaos. Will not be returning.

E
Erin Graves

used to adore this place, but now it’s going downhill. drinks and service used to be phenomenal, but they got rid of our favorite bartender and now it’s just regular/mid drinks and service. don’t understand who runs this place, but it seems to have been mismanaged for a while now

L
Lauren Mitchell

Extremely overpriced for what is, at best, mid-level food and service. My husband and I were regulars for 2 years, and quite frankly, the only reason we continued coming and paying jacked-up prices was for a specific server/bartender who set the standard. We were surprised to learn they were let go. Without the exceptional level of service, the cracks really shine through. At its core, the establishment feels mismanaged… We were consistently charged $17 for an espresso martini over the course of 2 years. On our most recent visit, a Tito’s espresso martini was suddenly $20. When we politely asked the manager (small women with glasses) about the increase, she told us it had “always” been that price. That response was both inaccurate and dismissive. There appear to be communication issues and a lack of effective leadership. For the prices being changed, guests should expect professionalism, consistency, and accountability. As for the “rooftop,” it is a second-floor space with “sweeping views” of another giant building and a corporate office park. There are far better options in Conshy offering superior ambiance, service, and value.

C
Carol Marcus

recent visit. We had been regular guests, and quite honestly, the only reason we continued coming to this already overpriced restaurant was for one bartender whose exceptional hospitality consistently made the experience worthwhile. We’re unsure why one of the strongest staff members is no longer there, but their absence was immediately and noticeably felt. This visit highlighted exactly how much that hospitality had been carrying the experience. Our $210 tomahawk steak was ordered medium rare and arrived medium well. After raising the issue, it took approximately 30–45 minutes for a manager to come to our table. When she finally arrived, her demeanor was cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. Rather than demonstrating interest in resolving the situation, the interaction felt defensive and unnecessarily hostile. For a restaurant charging premium prices, this level of service recovery (especially from management) is unacceptable. If someone is simply looking for decent food and drinks, there are plenty of other options in town that offer better value and far warmer service. What kept us coming back was real hospitality (which is rare to find now). It is disappointing to see it undervalued and replaced with indifference at the managerial level. Based on this experience, we will not be returning.
