Splendid experience. We had a reservation for two. Before the courses came a lovely palette cleanser, which if I recall correctly included smoked apple and aged balsamic. Our mains were the blackberry duck, which is served with an incredibly smooth potato puree, and the fettuccine alfredo, which is a nice twist on a traditional alfredo sauce with a generous amount of prawns. I did not realize they knew it was my birthday, and upon receiving my trio of tiramisu, I was greeted with a happy birthday platter (pictured) and my server lit an included sparkler. Service itself was delightful and our server was very attentive and friendly and prompted conversation with us. Guy earned a nice tip. Definitely will return, thank you for bringing a proper dining experience to the Bay. This is the type of culinary experience I strive for
We had a wonderful meal at Restaurant O! We each had halibut from the specials menu, one with beet risotto and the other with shrimp and truffle mashed potatoes. Outstanding! The amuse bouche was creative and super tasty. Would definitely return when next in Coos Bay!
Love love love this restaurant!! The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Our server was very friendly and met our every need. We started with a couple martinis and the calamari appetizer. Portions are of normal size which was so refreshing. We ordered the halibut special and papperdelle pasta. Both were so delicious, halibut was cooked perfectly. One of our favorite restaurants in the area, can’t wait to go back and try more delicious menu items. Thank you!’
Took my girlfriend here for dinner when we began our coast trip. The menu was robust but not overly so. You could tell every item had care put into it. The service was excellent and though they were on the busier side we didn't have to wait for a table. I had the Crab Cakes, the Steak Tartare, and the Escargot. My girlfriend got the course dinner and everything looked incredible. She very much enjoyed the Pork Belly in Jus over Mashed Potatoes. I didn't do an excellent job taking photos, but I'll post them below. If you are looking for a nice fine dining meal in Coos Bay, in an environment that doesn't feel stuffy or prudish, I highly recommend stopping in here.
Every time we dine at Restaurant O, we have a truly unique and amazing experience. It’s really wonderful to have this caliber of restaurant in this little seaside city. Every dish is crafted with intention and passion. And don’t skip the wine- his pairings are just as delicious.
Amazing fine dining experience! Alex, Mike, Adria are incredible and take great care of the customers. Masterchef O's dishes are lovely. I also enjoyed chef Dillon's creations. Restaurant O is the perfect spot for fine dining and impeccable dishes in coos bay. Update: 2 years after, still wonderful and my favorite in 2025
This restaurant was great! It had really tasty appetizers like the octopus, snails, and the salmon cevichie from the Chef. Drinks were awesome! Ribeye and Halibut was spot on. Our main dishes came out a little late so our waiter was very kind and gave us a box of truffles. Definitely be coming back. Thank you!
The beef Wellington was amazing and my wife enjoyed the fresh caught halibut menu. Their desserts are all delicious as well. I especially loved the three ways crème brûlée
Really enjoyed the happy hour. The meatballs and pork belly were amazing. $7 lemon drop was very good as well. Nice setting and friendly service. Update 5/8/23- I went for dinner and it was awesome! The server Adria was especially awesome. She sang a special happy birthday to me and was so lovely the entire time. Thank you for the excellent service and meal!
We are currently on travel, and travel non stop so we have eaten at many restaurants - From small towns to major cities. This restaurant was exceptional and such a gem to find on the coast of Oregon. Our prawn appetizer and French onion soup were exceptional. The warm foccacia bread with oil was light, fluffy, and flavorful. The main courses were delicious, complex and very fairly priced. They had an open kitchen we could look into and our kids loved watching the chefs preparing our food. Our waitress was amazing; fit to work in a top tier restaurant in NYC. She recommended plates for us, recommend drinks (which were also superb), and brought out toys and fun games for our kids to entertain themselves. Dessert was a treat and the perfect ending. We could not believe how unbelievably fair the pricing was, We have spent more at very low quality establishments. Please tip the staff knowing what a great deal you are getting here! My husband keeps talking about this place which means it has left a lasting impact and we hope this review motivates more visitors passing through to visit this place and tell others! Happy eating!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Food is absolutely fantastic! Better than Michelin star restraints I’ve been to. Drinks and atmosphere were also fantastic. If I lived here this place would be a weekly indulgence.
Tuesday , I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant O, a culinary gem that masterfully blends Italian and French cuisine. The Chef/owner, a Michelin star recipient, curated a special 6-course dinner that was a true masterpiece. Each dish was a testament to the chef's skill and passion, with flavors that sang and presentation that was stunning. What's remarkable is that a restaurant of this caliber is nestled in our small community! It's a treasure that shines bright, offering an unparalleled dining experience. The staff were warm and attentive, and the chef's pride in his work was evident in every aspect. I can't recommend Restaurant O enough - it's a must-visit for anyone who loves Italian and French cuisine. We're already planning to make this a yearly tradition!
Our dinners are always excellent. I celebrated my birthday on June 25th this & last year. The service from Alex, Shayla, Shawn & everyone is always great. Just last week for dinner, the King Salmon was excellent, lamb lollipops were so good. They have the best Sorbet anywhere. So many great dishes. Eoghain & Rica have done an excellent job. Looking forward to going back this week.
While the service, like others said, wasn’t 100% our server was still friendly and was plenty attentive enough. The food was great, the halibut and pork belly were good as well as the parm fries. the basil lemon drop drink is so good i could drink 100 of them!! and the tiramisu and creme brûlée desserts were also very good. would recommend to anyone for sure! wonderful food for a great price in coos bay!
Went here with my wife for our 6 year anniversary and we had a delightful time. I would like to give credit to the ladies at the Welcome Center in Coos Bay. They were the ones who let us know about Restaurant O. This place is a gem in Coos Bay! This is fine dining that is affordable. If this place was in Medford, price would easily be double. I wanted an experience so I went with the 3 course meal. I got fried prawns, crispy pork belly, and the churros. The meal was good and filling, but the churros were incredible! I loved how they were not heavy. They were light and covered in lots of cinnamon and sugar. 3 hours later I was still craving those churros. They are number one in my book out of all the churros I've had! Way better than what Disney can make! My wife got Lumpia for a starter, which is very popular in Indonesia, and she also got a pasta dish, and creme brulee. All 3 were good. The creme brulee comes in 3 small dishes (strawberry, original, and chocolate) all these flavors were really good! All in all, this place is worth taking a visit to for dinner. I would like to see what they put on the 6 or 9 course meal designed by the chef. I think that would be a fun experience!
GO HERE NOW! My friends and I are road tripping from Denver, CO and Coos Bay was along the way. In Denver, I work at a fine dining restaurant with food and service to the same caliber at this place, and I am so blown away. The food was incredible! We are so floored with the presentations of every aspect. From the amuse buche, the drinks, the meals, and the desserts. They have such a small staff but all we interacted with were so gracious and warm, despite how busy they were. Nicole served us and she was so kind, very knowledgeable and sweet.
We had a wonderful food experience at Restaurant O! The pairings were spot on perfect. We started with drinks and oysters lemon air. Different from what we are used to but marvelous. The ribeye with the jasmine rice was the best I have ever had. The vegetables with it were still firm with a slight crispness without being under done. Usually I add salt to vegetables and a steak sauce to the meat, I added NOTHING! My wife had the lobster risotto and I almost wish I had gotten it too. Both dishes were soooooo good! We actually had room for dessert. I had the chocolate mousse bar with coconut sorbet (made in house) and it had 3 fresh raspberries on top.....I hate raspberries with a passion that burns like 1000 suns....it was.....the best! The pairing of mousse with the raspberries was incredibly good. My wife had the three creme broulee. Another masterpiece by the chef and his crew. The waitresses and bartender were warm and friendly. We chatted with them throughout the dinner and had a great evening. Unbelievably good! Prices in my opinion were reasonable but not cheap. You get more than you pay for at Restaurant O. Already planning on coming back to Coosbay and trying the 9 course pairing with the wine suggestions for anniversary next year.
Without a doubt the best meal you can get in this area. Diverse, tasteful menu. Wonderful bar and cocktails. Desert is fantastique. Service has always been good, very informative and prompt. I love coming in for the happy hour and getting a cocktail and the pork belly. Lamb was exquisite, chicken parm was just fine. Presentation was great. I love the salmon & cream cheese mousse bruschetta so much.
Our anniversary dinner was amazing. It started with an outstanding clam chowder. My 16 oz steak was juicy and terrific. The mashed potatoes were fabulous and the salad was delicious. The service was top notch. The view was beautiful and picturesque. Then to finish the meal an amazing dessert was brought. It was lit (see photo below) and was exciting. It tasted great. I highly recommend Restaurant O for an outstanding dinner. Truly made our anniversary special.
We went here for our 11 year anniversary. The filet mignon with crab meat and goose fat was the best food I have ever eaten! The clams in the cream sauce was the second. Great prices and an enjoyable atmosphere.
I have never had the pleasure of enjoying a nine course tasting before. I'm still beaming with food happiness. Everything about last night felt like a dream. Our server, Rhonda, was so attentive and sweet. The food was made special just for us! I was the only vegan out of our group and masterchef was extremely accommodating. He created dishes special just for us that weren't on the regular menu. We were there for four hours, eating, laughing and enjoying the atmosphere and didn't even realize so much time had passed. Their wine pairings were spot on! I left with a full belly and a full heart last night.
I have been to Restaurant O on several occasions - both with friends and solo dining. Tables on the restaurant side require reservations, but you can sit first-come, first-served on the bar side. Cocktails are made with care and they make my Laphroaig old fashioned perfectly! Try the ocean surprise entree, you won't be disappointed. My last visit I opted for the seared scallops, roasted vegetables and rainbow potatoes - all of it was cooked exactly how it should be. I also recommend trying the tempura prawns as an appetizer - the chili-tamarind sauce is amazing. Overall, you cannot go wrong with Restaurant O for quality food & drink, great service and atmosphere. Prices are plenty fair for the quality you will experience!
Outstanding! We impulsively decided to go out to eat. I'm so glad we ended up at Restaurant O. We were greater by a friendly hostess. The room we sat in was bright and open, modern decor, and you can easily see the chef and helpers work their magic. Everything we had was amazing. My partner had the calzone, he said it was the best he had ever had. It takes 20 minutes but we'll worth the wait. I wanted to try the tapas. So I chose 3 ..the smoked salmon mousse, piquillo chili and goat cheese, and Parma ham and parmesan. All 3 were really good but the piquillo chili and goat cheese was the beat. We couldn't leave without having dessert. I had the trio of creme Brulee... partner had the chocolate mousse bar. His came with a coconut sorbet that was out of this world! The 3 creme brulee flavors were leek, prickly pear, and blackberry. Out of this world.. phenomenal. I cannot wait to go back
Thank goodness we don't live near this place for too long! KILLER smokey clam chowder (one of the best we've ever had, and we spend a few months per year in Cape Cod as well), oysters done 4 ways (they're tiny but good), crispy pork belly Happy Hour app, THE most amazing ribeye, chicken marsala, potatoes done two ways (rainbow and mashed) that were INSANELY good, leeks so tasty that even the BF loved, a Trio of Tiramisu (shocking to try it with other flavors), and a smoking cold drink! Bartender was a bit unattentive to the tables, but the food was too good to care much about it.
Randomly picked this place for dinner. We talked in to find a very modern open feel to the restaurant. The drinks were amazing, and the food and experience were out of this world. Well worth what we paid. I will absolutely be back.
The food was so good tonight. I got the parmesan risotto w chicken and O it was divine. The salmon and spicy gazpacho was such a treat as well! Delightful ambience and a wonderful server in Adria! She was so helpful with menu options and specials. She was funny and thoughtful and we had a lovely dining experience! We were here last year during the holidays. This being our 2nd year I see a tradition on the horizon! Thanks Restaurant O!
Great vegan options! The presentation was awesome 👏 the food super delicious 😋 I even ate the mushrooms which I usually don't like. But these were amazing. Everything was superb 👌 even the chocolate covered strawberries 🍓 was made with vegan chocolate which taste like gourmet.
A wonderful birthday dinner ✨️ The food was gorgeous and SO delicious. Our cocktails were perfect. Thank you to all of the staff and Cheryl for making our first experience such a treat! We look forward to our next dine-in 🍽
This is our favorite restaurant in town! Chef O'Neill's food is so good and never disappoints!! The menu is expansive with unique choices. We also love going to their Happy Hour. We enjoy sitting in the bar. Alex is fun to talk to and makes awesome drinks.
Visited Coo’s Bay for a family wedding and was so excited for this dinner and it didn’t disappoint! Host and server were amazing from the get go, food was fabulous. Highly recommend asking the servers for wine pairings. Enjoy!
Everything tastes fantastic. Very balanced and everything complement the other things on the plate. the service was great and very Accommodatable for someone with a low sodium diet and great drink options for someone who can’t have alcohol
Absolutely top notch! An easy five stars. To begin, the atmosphere was most enjoyable. Their dining area is spacious, with high ceilings and ample room, creating a relaxed, intimate experience. My cocktail was out of this world, a smoky old fashioned that warmed my belly and soul. I was treated to a refreshing pallette cleanser that prepared my taste buds for some deliciously subtle oysters, followed by the best bruschetta I've ever had the pleasure of eating. For an entire I ordered a salmon dish that melted in my mouth. I was impressed by the range of flavours throughout the courses. The oysters were subtle, while the salmon was savory and served with seasoned baby potatoes. One mustn't forget the muscles, which were fresh and cooked to perfection. The bruschettas were brilliantly made with toppings so soft and creamy I was surprised they didn't fall right off. I'm sorry I've forgotten my server's name, but she was equally friendly and professional, very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions. I look forward to going back and exploring more of their menu. Oh! For those in the know - they have Magners cider!!!
This was our first visit to the restaurant. Our only regret is that we waited so long. It was the best meal that we have had in Coos county in years. Would most definitely recommend.
Excellent fresh food and would recommend without hesitation. My wife and I shared two different Halibut dinners - one with risotto and one with shrimp. They were both excellent and presented beautifully on the plates. Service was outstanding as well. We got there very late, and were the last people in the restaurant. They never rushed us to leave, and we chatted with the waiter for a while. The food was reasonably priced for the quality.
Amazing Valentines dinner. Shayla was beyond spectacular. It was quite busy and she worked with joy, efficiency, and dedication. We were so impressed. The food was delicious and unique as well.
Celebrating my husband's birthday and decided to give them a try...with all the hype, I expected to be impressed on our first visit...it's disappointing. The food was great but the service wasn't. Mediocre at best. I wonder if it's because we chose ala carte instead of the tasting menu. Only a few tables are covered with cloth. Our waitress wasn't very attentive. My husband had steak Oscar, ordered medium but it came out medium rare. My black cod miso wasn't very fresh.Alloro did better and with better prices too. Will I recommend? Nope. I will recommend Alloro.
I arrived about 30 minutes early and was seated right away. The waitress was a busy person with all the incoming guests. The complimentary shooters and bread were a nice touch. I had the Ribeye steak with rainbow potatoes and a side salad. The food was cooked well and only took about 20 minutes. Both the potatoes and the steak were a bit short on seasoning but still delicious.
We had a large group and they have additional seating upstairs. Food was delicious. Food presentation was 1st class. Drinks were great. Service was slowed due to limited staff. Point of sale system could not handle splitting the bill, so our waitress had to do it manually. The dining experience took way too long.
The chef here has a real eye for detail. The appearance of our plates resembled dishes I see in Chicago or NY. We ate here with extended family and everyone enjoyed their dishes. My scallops were perfectly cooked, but I have tasted better. Perhaps just a bad batch. Overall, definitely worth visiting if you are in Coos Bay, Oregon
This is NOT a traditional Italian restaurant. The experience of Restaurant O is fabulous! The wait staff was attentive, polite, and totally made our dining experience. The food on the other hand was disappointing. It looked good and it was most beautifully plated, but sadly the risotto and pasta were overcooked. The charcuterie was the best! It wasn't what the menu said, but it was all well seasoned and balanced. I knew by watching the Chef our food wasn't going to come out the best. The busier the kitchen got the more stressed he became and he tossed the pans on the pass instead of plating the food. Another of the kitchen staff came over to expedite but he must've been new at it. He couldn't even twirl the pasta into the bowl. Will I go back? Yes. For the ambience and the experience, but maybe on a slower night so our food gets a little more attention.
The kitchen "lost our ticket" so it took over an hour to get our food... But.... Worth the wait! I guess you have to ask for a table specifically by the window to the river... Telling them it's your wedding anniversary and would like the best view doesn't imply it...?
I have to start with Restaurant O, which has been my favorite since it opened. The food is wonderful, and 8 out of 10, the service is good. Last week, we had a 6:30 reservation for a family birthday. Party of three. My daughter from Portland and my wife ordered the 6-course tasting menu with wine pairing (they have chosen this at least 5 times before), and I ordered the ribeye. We were seated upstairs with a party of two at the next table; no other diners upstairs. Our waiter was congenial, and when asked if the "tasting menu was a hassle," he assured us it was not, and these were his only tables. Long story short, the table immediately to our left was also celebrating a birthday with the tasting menu. We were confused when the staff came up the stairs singing Happy Birthday during our third course, thinking it was our table being celebrated. I have no idea what was going on downstairs during our service. Our check finally came a few minutes before 10:00, and there were no diners and one server, and the bartender was in the establishment when we left. Obviously, the time between courses left a lag in the evening, but again, the food itself was superb. Apparently, there was something wrong with our initial bill ( I was so anxious to leave, I didn't look, but did notice there was a very long "sales strip"). After the waiter made some kind of adjustments and the tip was added, our bill was around $400.00, which is about what I anticipated. So, I guess I am suggesting two tasting menu birthday parties would be better served being separated, not with the same waiter, and if the service is going to take 3 1/2 hours, a heads up would be appreciated.
My wife and I love to dine out. We love Vegas style fine dining. Haven said that I'll say this we dont expect that type of quality from any restaurant outside the Las Vegas area. This restaurant failed, in my opinion. My wife loved all of her food and drinks. I ordered the filet minion (medium rare), mashed potatoes, and steamed mixed vegetables with a cocktail, the Irish old-fashioned. Cocktails were the best part of the evening. My steak was over cooked, no crust on it, no flavor at all, the mashed potatoes tasted so bland that I really didn't want to eat them, the steamed vegetables were even more bland and hard. I been cooking steaks for years now and I could have cooked a better steak and made a mashed potato dish that everyone would love, the mix vegetables could have had at least some type of flavor, a little salt or pepper perhaps, I know its steamed but come on. The desert was good. The atmosphere could use a little more quality and less recycled look. Tip for the cleaning person, please wipe down the gold wall art after each guest, there was food from the previous guest smeared on it. Seating is all tables with no booths. I give it three stars at best. Food needs more flavoring and better quality. The wedge salad ok, and the ranch is kind of gross.
Oyster’s were awesome, they source from Clausen’s, highly recommend! But I was honestly disappointed in my Wellington. This was my first time trying it..and it was an overdone medallion with no mushroom mouse. Or duxelles. I of course ordered medium rare, it was so chewy and so was the pastry, a little underdone. Saw no duxelles. So maybe the mushroom mouse is causing the dough to have the raw texture? The experience took awhile based upon the number of customers, food should be on point! I would say this place has much potential…but you should only put out a perfect Wellington like Ramsay says so many times…I was disappointed. It took almost an hour after ordering entree’s. My smoky spicy pineapple margarita was delicious, it used to be on the menu and they still made it for me. Crème brûlée had great flavor but was not fully set. When I spend this much on dinner for 2, I just expect more! I might come back for a happy hour menu. Oysters were the highlight. My boyfriend was happy with his ribeye special, other than the fat not being rendered correctly. If it wasn’t for the oysters it would be a *2
Food was okay, definitely not as good as it used to be. Way over priced for a very long wait. Drink I was served was really good. The fettuccine was decent but still over priced for what was served and for how long it took. Server was kind and on top of it.
Our mealstarted with a " on the house" soggy cruton with cream chease and jam on it with a tiny tube glass of orange juice with tajin mixed in it . I wasnt sure ifit was meant to make us order faster or get us to leave . All i can say is it was gross .The appetizers are really good . We got calamari and tempura prawns . They sent mayonnaise as a dipping sause which was like what?.....with my entre I got the ribeye Steak, it was perfect rare but it was full of fat and silver.the potatoes that came with it were not seasoned and were very over cooked and dry slices that looked as though they had been reheated many times and were from the day before. And we got the cheesecake for our dessert it was flavorless and disgusting. The sorbet was bright and delightful very delicious could be lovely as its own dessert without the terrible cheesecake.overall the food all looked esthetically pleasing and all of the wait staff were kind patient and courteous. If we go again we will stick to the delicious appetizers. It was a beautiful seating area and many interesting focal points for the eye to rest on. Beautiful lighting and comfortable atmosphere.we enjoyed sitting there and chatting for a long time before ordering and they were ever so patient and respectful. We did enjoy our time there. However I do feel that there should be some revisions to the quality of the ingredients and perhaps some of the side dishes . The meal came to under 100 which was about what you'd expect from fine dining . Well worth it ....overall id give their waitresss raises for how professional and kind they are . And the restaurant itself is beautiful. But there were too many different small things with the food to be overlooked. Good food should taste as good as it looks and each part of a meal is important for building a returning customer base . Great atmosphere, great waiters and waitresses. Terrible potatoes. And inedible cheese cake .3 stars
I do not often share critical reviews, however, in this case I have to. I saw so many good reviews and photos and we were so excited to have our anniversary dinner here. We were very disappointed by the food. It lacked flavor and seasoning in pretty much everything we had and in the case of the wild prawns... they tasted like dirt. We will not ever eat here again. Do not be fooled by the photos I included. I will say, the one bright spot was the cocktails, they were fresh and really delicious!
DO NOT RECOMMEND Note: Pictures all included We called ahead of time and they said they had a special vegan menu. Everything that was listed over the call sounded very good in concept but the execution on the other hand was nonexistent. To start from the very top: ⁃ When the appetizers came out we were very confused because half of the ingredients under the items listed on the menu were not there. For example, the signature appetizer, Zupetta, was supposed to be a focaccia and vegetable plate. It was missing the focaccia and bits of the vegan cheese were ice cold. The local wild mushrooms & duo of orange salad was supposed to come with wild mushroom, oranges, and orange jelly. The wild mushrooms (the literal main ingredient) and orange jelly were not present and the flavors in the dish did not go well together at all. We asked the server and she brought over the mushrooms and focaccia however the focaccia was extremely crumbly and didn’t taste fresh. Note: The sauce for the dish did in fact taste very good. ⁃ For the main dish we had ordered two signature dishes, nano risotto that was supposed to be flavored with truffle, and apple wood smoked vegetables with a mint and pea purée . Once again the risotto was missing the truffle (which the waitress acknowledged was a mistake on the chef’s part). For the apple wood smoke dish, instead of mint and pea puree it just had torn mint and peas on the top. This simple doesn’t work when the vegetables don’t have any flavor of their own. The dish was also extremely oily as seen in the pictures which was surprising considering the vegetables were grilled. The potatoes were burnt and the squash was overcooked and falling apart, the zucchini had grill marks on it but somehow wasn’t cooked all the way through. For what it’s worth, the risotto did taste good even without the truffle. ⁃ For dessert, we ordered a chilled duo of strawberry and jasmine soup, that was supposed to come with a strawberry sorbet. Instead we received ice water with melted sorbet, with chopped mint and a teaspoon of sorbet. No jasmine to be found. It was so gross we didn’t finish it. To give credit where credit is due, the complimentary pre appetizer with beetroot hummus with tomato and balsamic drizzle, and shot of gazpacho was very good. When it came to service, we were attempting to wave the waitresses down to get our orders fixed but they were too busy chatting amongst themselves. When it came to the bill, there was a mistake on the bill where they charged us for an extra order of our mains. I’m not one to critique ambiance however given this was listed as fine dining and the high prices I have to comment the decor was extremely tacky. It looked like the table cloths came from tj maxx, there were random Christmas ornaments and ribbons taped to the wall (we came late August) and the iced soup was served on a sparkly napkin. To top it off, the chef has put a picture of himself on the wall in which he refers to himself as “master chef O’Neill”. How embarrassing. Please keep in mind this restaurant is listed and the prices reflect “fine dining” hence why we thought this review was worthwhile. Save your money and receive higher quality food at Taco Bell. You’ll get less of a stomachache (our stomaches were killing us after all that grease) and your wallets will thank you.
My wife and I finally decided to give this place a try. We've heard mixed reviews about the restaurant, and were apprehensive about the high costs, but our curiosity got the best of us and we decided to give it a try for the new year. The decor is okay. It's sort of a sterile look and didn't stand out as an upscale interior. The dining room was mostly empty with one other couple. I'd describe it simply as "uneventful." But hey, I'm here for the food! One quick mention of the service - it was great. We were attended to by what appeared to be the only waiter, and she was very polite. She attended to us very well and answered all of our questions with no hesitation. I couldn't have asked for better service. We ordered a cheese plate as an appetizer. But first, we were given an amuse-boucher, which composed of a halved cherry tomato drizzled in balsamic vinegar, paired a gazpacho shooter, garnished with a sprig of basil. An excellent start to our dinner! Our cheese plate came next. It was plated excellently, on a cut round of wood, and priced just as well. Various cheeses, meats, nuts, crackers, and some strawberries circled a tiny bowl of quick pickled veggies and another containing red pepper infused honey. If you end up at this restaurant and purchase nothing else, this plate is worth the inexpensive indulgence. We also ordered bread and olive oil. It was a very small serving of bread (see in the background of the cheese plate image), and nothing to write home about. There was an overwhelmingly large amount of balsalmic vinegar on the bottom that was sort of a surprise with the last piece of bread. The bowl was too dark for us to know that there was vinegar in it, and I wish it were served in a white bowl instead for this fact alone. Black or red pepper on top would have been a good gesture as well. Then our entrees came. My wife ordered the spiced crispy pork belly, and she was very unimpressed as it had very little flavor. I ordered some sort of fish (I believe steelhead or salmon), which was presented on top of "jasmine" rice. Did I upload a photo of either entrees for this review? No. The plating for both entrees was bland and unappetizing, but let me describe what mine looked like; a piece of grilled fish on rice with grey sauce. And that's exactly how it tasted like. Not only did it have no flavor, but I could have gone to 7 Devils Waterfront Alehouse and gotten a much better fish entree with a better atmosphere and a smaller bill. This was one of the worst fish entrees I've ever had in my life, like someone in the kitchen just gave up. It was disappointing to say the least, and made us wonder how someone would have thought this was acceptable for the price. To end the meal, we opted for the churros with cacao chocolate sauce, and were not impressed. The churro had a weird consistency to it, as though it was not fried, and the whole dessert was simply not appetizing. I recommend frozen churros from the grocery store instead. We ended up paying around $130 for the both of us, mind you this included some mixed drinks that were pretty good, but overshadowed by our disappointing entrees. I've been to restaurants in the same price range (and higher), but this place pales in comparison to all of them. I've had much better food with a more welcoming atmosphere at a fraction of the price. We told a pair of our friends about our dinner and they said that they had the same experience - great appetizers with extremely disappointing entrees. It's as though one person who puts together the entrees simply doesn't realize they're working at what's supposed to be an upscale restaurant. It completely broke the experience. As we were leaving, we noticed that a large group of people came in and appeared to have ordered mostly pasta. If we go back again, that's the route we're going to take, especially since it's more moderately priced and harder to screw up. In all, I would not recommend Restaurant O. Whoever is putting these entrees together needs some help.
I would be very careful with using a card here. I went to restaurant O to celebrate my son’s birthday( it WAS his favorite restaurant in town and we’ve been several times) I left with a $100 bill and left a very large tip for the server. The next day I had a 3rd charge to my account that was not authorized( over $70) I had to call over 5 times, talk to the manager several times and deal with this issue for nearly a week only for the manager just to tell me different stories on what he thought happened and that basically he wasn’t able to help me. They literally over-drafted my bank account, wouldn’t refund me or comp the meal or anything to make their mistake right. Luckily my bank was able to help me and I was able to get some of my money back and my bank came to the conclusion that either the server tried to get a second tip from my card or the restaurant fraudulently used my card. If you go here be very careful and pay attention to transactions from them. I’m so disappointed that this happened
