Absolutely fantastic Mexican food served in a quaint family friendly atmosphere. On a whim we saw that the old classic diner had been updated into a Mexican restaurant. The folks running the restaurant are a blend of different Mexican states. The food is cooked fresh in front of you on the old diner grill top. You can’t get any better Mexican even if you traveled to Mexico. This is the real deal. Definitely on our list of favs and can’t wait to return. Prices are reasonable considering these economic times. Public parking around the corner.

Situated in Frank and Mary’s old diner, this wonderful restaurant has exceeded our expectations in the dozen or so times we have eaten there. Recently, they have greatly increased their menu to include some awesome additions like the Molcajete pictured. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is so friendly. I would highly recommend for a Latin dining experience.

This place is definitely a hidden gem in cortland I traveled from Syracuse to try it. The atmosphere here is very wholesome you can tell they put a lot of love into this business it’s a very beautiful small place with amazing employees. I ordered a burrito pastor it is about a foot long quality is amazing the food is outstandingly delicious I would recommend this to anyone.

Best food we’ve had in Cortland. Everything is fresh and prepared in house. The service is warm and inviting as is the atmosphere. This will be our go-to every time we come to town to visit our son at school.

Food? They offer a properly refined array of authentic Mexican cuisine that has not of yet disappointed me in any way other than the self inflicted gut aches from finishing every damn bite of the delicious and more than substantial serving sizes. Atmosphere? It could use an update if I'm being honest but in its almost intentional neglect falls a certain comfort in reminiscing about the good times had in the original frank and Mary's restaurant that the new owners have made their own in a deserving way. Bonus? Drinks!!! Upon one of my last visits as of late i found that they serve a little variety of social lubricants... in which I indulged in glowingly! 😆 I highly recommend... and i plan to be back soon to have a seat out on the newly incorporated patio area, while enjoying a bite and a brew. God bless and good eating!

Delicious alchohol and alchohol free drinks and deserts also! The staff is super friendly and welcoming. We tell everyone we know about it!

Their food is amazing!! It's wonderful that they use fresh ingredients and it makes such a noticeable and delicious difference 😋 I got theee different styles of their tacos and their ceviche, and I was blown away about how yummy everything was and how reasonable the price was!!! Definitely returning and recommending this place to others!

They can make many things vegan and fully know what it means. Great beans, rice, and guac. Tortillas are all homemade from scratch. Excellent taste and friendly service.

Our organization used Varacruzana to cater lunch for an event. Jen was very nice and easy to work with and the staff the day of pickup were super accommodating and helpful. They threw in extra utensils we needed but forgot to ask for. The food was great and ready at pickup. Thanks so much!

Why not 5 stars? Nothing is perfect. What was wrong with my meal? Absolutely nothing. I just had my first meal at this restaurant. Mexican food has always been my favorite cuisine. I wish that I hadn't waited so long to try the place. The building is an old greasy spoon diner, so it doesn't exactly scream "authentic Mexican cuisine" as you're passing by. On the other hand, this location does come with being an icon on Cortland's local map. When you step through the doors, the Mexican culture is proudly presented. Salsa music, the smells and sounds of a Mexican kitchen. And a family that is proudly Mexican, but also long standing members of this community. Friendly faces and smiles greeted me everywhere. Even the dishwasher smiled and said hello as they made their way through the restaurant. I ordered the 'Carnitas' dinner. (Pork tips, seasoned rice, choice of beans, tortillas, pico de gallo), tortilla chips and salsa were complimentary at the table. The food was served quickly, the plate it was served on was hot. The owner warned me. I touched it anyway. It was hot, but not the finger melting experience that I have found before. I'm 6'3", and weigh more than 300lbs. I'm not a little eater. But I couldn't finish my plate. Well, I could have, but I would have had to pick at it for a while, so I took the rest home with me. The prices are reasonable. I'm old, and ALL food just seems too expensive to me. Starting at the grocery store. Obviously, the starting cost of food has a knock on effect for the cost of eating out. But I really do think that for the quality of the ingredients, the flavor of those ingredients, and the amount of food that I received there can be no complaints. A lot of restaurants cut corners on quality while raising prices, and shifting costs (forced tipping and fees) onto the consumer. Here is a restaurant, serving quality food, at respectable prices, and with a friendly smile to accompany it. This was my first visit. It damn sure won't be my last. (By way of comparison, check out my review for the "River St. Taco Bell in these Google map reviews)

Never been so decided to try for takeout. The price for a chicken quesadilla was a little high for what you get. The filling only went up 3/4 of the way and there were no sides for $12.41. It was literally just chicken and cheese in a tortilla. Their website says there is onions and cilantro. I didn’t get any of that. Music was very loud inside.

The service definitely leaves much to be desired. Why hire people who don't know how to provide service? The waitresses look so grumpy. Why is it so hard for them to be nice? The food also needs a little more effort.

Food was edible but cold, not authentic in any way. No one puts cold shredded cheese on their food and serves it! Tomato sauce for ranchero sauce was a joke.
