Might be my new favorite café. Because this place doesn't just serve coffee to order, but also has a gray select of tasty food that you would expect from a secret hole in the wall. Great staff that is friendly and helpful or conveniently order from the tablet with pictures of all the menu items. Enviroment lends its self nicely to all group sizes with a large table and booth seating upstairs. And comfortable seating downstairs alongside bar seating. Theres also outside sgaded seating if thats your thing.
Great overall experience just one small issue. I loved the self-checkout screens, they make customizing drinks super easy, and they actually followed my extra requests perfectly. My iced matcha was high quality and tasted great. The restrooms were clean, and there was plenty of seating to study or hang out. Most of the staff was chill and friendly, but one barista came across as rude to a customer. He walked up thinking his drink was ready as they call by name and asked about it. She gave him a look and bluntly said, “No,” without much explanation. It just felt a little dismissive and could have been handled in a more welcoming way. It was also a bit warm inside, not sure if the AC was on. Overall, still a good spot, just that one interaction slightly took away from the experience.
Unassuming find for breakfast and coffee:tea. Great 😌 but place to work and hang out. The food was A1 and coffee was great. There’s chill valet that work off tips makes parking a non issue. Great crowd
Absolutely fantastic place! The eggs benedict were the best I've ever had. A savory seasoning really leveled it up Ask for a London fog as well. Delicious and perfect. And the service is friendly and fast
We visited Moongoat Cafe and had a wonderful experience. The pour-over coffee was exceptional—smooth, flavorful, and perfectly brewed. The cortado was just as impressive, rich and balanced. We also tried the avocado toast, which was absolutely delicious (and surprisingly heavy—I barely managed to finish it 🤣). The atmosphere is one of the highlights of this place. With its greenhouse-style design and plenty of natural light, it feels bright, refreshing, and relaxing. The service was great too—the guy who took our order was super nice and friendly, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Definitely a spot worth visiting for both the quality coffee and the inviting vibe!
Delicious Edibles, Spacious & Stylish Venue. PROS: Arriving on a Saturday AM, there was easy parking (it did get busy by 11). The atmosphere is welcoming and unique, with lots of interesting decor and seating options. And the drinks & food were fantastic. Loved the Churro Latte. Loved the Deluxe Avocado Toast. Super tasty. CONS: The parking lot could get busy/full. Valet is a unique option to provide, to offset. All in all, I highly recommend this spot - Enjoy!
This is one of the best coffee shops I’ve been to in terms of quality menu, seating availability, ambiance (aesthetic, trendy), hours (open late), and service. Definitely recommend visiting this place. They are open late for a coffee shop so there are many students and young professionals there. The buttermilk biscuit & egg sandwich was a little small for what I paid for. Besides that, food and drinks were good. Parking was a little hard to find cuz it’s a small parking lot and many people were there. We were in the 10 min pickup space for a few mins until a parking spot opened up. Matcha Spritzer: 4.5/5 Hojichai Latte: 4.5/5 Buttermilk Biscuit & Egg Sandwich: 4/5
Monday had a great start at MoonGoat. We waited in line for only a few minutes. Coffee, food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch. We ordered lattes with stevia and completely enjoyed the flavor--it was its own flavor of bean so I would recommend getting beans too. The bagels and bagel sandwiches were delicious. Nothing felt heavy, but everything was tasty. The cheddar and chive cream cheese is recommended. Great experience!
Always consistent and delicious! I’ve been coming to MoonGoat since college, and they’ve never let me down. I’ve brought friends and family—everyone loves it. My best friend even makes it a must-visit whenever she’s in town. 😄
This place is awesome! I came for the coffee and stayed for the food. The teas are great too! They respect the ingredients and it shows! The owner is amazing as well. Dog friendly! They have a patio outback for the fur babies and it's a really great atmosphere to enjoy the morning. Def recommend for coffee and brunch.
This is our first time to the flagship location - although we have tried their cold brew before - and WOW! We are pleasantly surprised. We did not order any food but watched so many plates go by and it sure does look delicious. Their coffee menu is superb, and in my opinion, they have some of the best cold brew around! Since we were in store, I was able to try a cold brew with their sea salt cold foam and man!! It was so smooth and delicious I could come back for 10 more. My husband had a pour over. It was smooth and fruity - just not my personal style, but he thoroughly enjoyed it. There is plenty of seating, inside and out, ADA compliant restrooms with multiple stalls. They have many food options to go and drinks to go as well. Their spot is perfect with lots of parking. The staff is kind and quick to recommend beverages which is always nice. We will be back for sure!
Coffe here is really good i always get the latte coffe, i like how they make these shapes too. Also the place is very calming and nice
Such a unique coffee house/restaurant. Relaxing atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, and delicious food!! We have visited this flagship location a few times, and were never disappointed! General Manager Joshua pulls triple duty acting as chef and server as well, and is such a pleasure to speak with. Convenient location and hours of operation. Rewards program also offered for those who plan to visit on a regular basis. Additional locations in Garden Goat (Grove) and in Laguna Beach on Pacific Goat (Coast) Highway. Check them out!!
Took my Aunt to a comedy show at the moongoat that they host once a month. It was very fun and great atmosphere.
First time at this coffee shop and truly love it! From the moment I walked in I was greeted with cheerfulness and upon me staring it was my first time there ….Kelly was super helpful and helped me select my drink … loved my coffee! I will definitely be going back !
Stopped in with the lady for some coffee and reading, ended up getting avocado toast and the moongoat griddle along side some coffee. The griddle was fantastic, best breakfast item of the year for me. Service was great and the whole place was lively with people studying, reading, and conversing. Great spot
I've worked in coffee for years. I've been a barista, a roaster, and even a coffee importer. This coffee shop has a perfect balance between amazing coffee, fantastic vibes, and even delicious foods. I rarely write any reviews, however moon goat has earned it. I even have a keg of moon goat coffee at my house I love it so much.
Been here twice and have gotten excellent service! I came in 5 minutes before closing and the barista waited patiently for me to make a selection. The second time I came in and it was busy and I received the same service from the barista. They are very friendly and their coffee is delicious!!
One word: B-O-U-G-I-E! Lovely little coffee shop (awesome name/ branding to boot)! Pricing was fairly competitive. ($10 for a large.) The latte was wonderful. Service was splendid. Staff was welcoming and friendly as can be. Atmosphere was peaceful and very stereotypically coffee-shopish (not a complaint). Lots of seating and it's really cozy inside. I went on a Saturday morning and while it was busy, the service was actually quite expeditious. They have really neat trinkets and cups and gear and such too (albeit hella expensive). But again, bougie 👏 af. Regardless, I'd go back if in the area and I recommend you try them out too. ☕.
My first visit to Moongoat was a very pleasant surprise. The coffee was amazing, myself and several others went back to ask what the “house” coffee was that they were using as the base for lattes etc. There was a guy with three turntables playing music. Just very nice background stuff, you could still have a conversation which is why we came, coffee & conversation. We came for a late night coffee and left with two bags of fresh beans. Moongoat is worth a visit. They take the coffee seriously and have created a location worthy of spending some time.
Loved this cafe so much. The coffee was fine, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I loved the natural lighting, the decor, the busyness but also calmness. I was able to be very productive! Also the staff is friendly and so were the customers. Great space to get lots of work done. The seating was comfortable too!
Impressive, I do enjoy a good cup of coffee that you can drink black. I think you can judge a specialty coffee shop like this pretty easily by just having a cup of their house blend coffee black. (they do roast their own beans here onsite) That said, I was very impressed. I've been coming here for a good month and the house coffee is consistently good. I even bought a bag of their espresso blend and was pleased with its quality. I'm usually not a fan of darker blends but this was surprisingly smooth with little to no bitterness at the end. The store itself is fairly hipster in its design, but its not over the top and the fairly comfortable seats afford a stay longer than 30 min. The staff is always willing to answer questions and I dont think I've spotted anything but smiling faces and positive attitudes since I've been coming here. Overall, another "boutique coffee shop" it is, but its one of the few I find myself coming back to quite often.
Great atmosphere & friendly staff. Espresso was pretty good- not the best but better than most other places in the area. I had an almond milk cappuccino that was definitely made with care and especially appreciate that they’ve got house made almond and oat milks. Had a tea there last week that was really nice too. More than anything, happy to have a cool place to work and hang in the neighborhood.
Like most MoonGoats this location is huge, with an outdoor area that gets some sunlight. Workers are friendly and knowledgeable on their coffee. The shop can get a bit crowded, but with some headphones you’ll be able to work without any issues. Their pourover I give a 7/10 but nothing can beat doing it at home with a full setup. Better than most other coffee shop pourovers though.
5 stars overall. Pro Tip: The budget large iced coffee with milk is a steal at $5.50 ($1 tip, please don't be cheap to staff). Parking was a bit weird. There's a valet but you don't have to pay when we went (11am). Great ambience, nice a/c indoors, lots of shade in patio. Very good seating. Chairs aren't comfortable or no back but that's par for the course at coffee shops (no lingering or we'll break your back eventually lol). Avoid the coworking space across the parking lot by the same name with the weird smell & no a/c lol.
Great place for a coffee date. All the employees are amazing, great atmosphere, a truly awesome place to have a coffee and relax
MoonGoat Coffee quickly became one of my favorite spots for coffee in OC after just one visit. With ample parking which is quite nice, walking in to see the beautifully decorated interior and mural starts your experience off beautifully! Approaching the bar, the baristas are so kind and friendly. Jordan was the one who took my order, and was kind enough to give me recommendations, I tried the Churro Latte which is made up of espresso, milk, dulce de leche, and cinnamon! I was in the mood for something real sweet, so if that's what you're going for I would recommend! Free wifi as well, the space is a good mix of people working and chatting! I love being able to chat and lounge on their couches, while getting work done at a table, and being able to take a break on their outdoor area. My favorite part? Their hours! Where most coffee spots close at 4 or 6, this place closes at 11! Great late night spot to hang out or get work done! Would definitely recommend checking it out! I'll definitely be back.
I waited here while getting my car serviced. There were so many different types of seating options and I managed to get a lot of work done. However, the WiFi did not work while I was there so I had to hotspot in on my phone (which is why I docked points for atmosphere). They had a building across the street with WiFi but it was very quiet with some people there and I did not want to disturb them since I had to take a meeting.
Good place. Good coffee. Probably the best coffee in this area (around 5 miles).
Super friendly, very open and lively place to dig in for a work session or just a casual hang. Everyone is minding their own business but you get the sense that you're all on the same grind together. Limited parking spaces, and there's a valet to keep things moving. I could see how that might be the better option if you're going to squat all day. When you enter the big doors, you order on the right but the menu is behind you. Pickup at the coffee bar is to the left, and there's a great selection of beans and merch to check out. If you've been looking at certain pieces like a Stagg kettle online, this is a great way to see them in person. There's a selection of grab and go items but there service is also pretty quick. Wide selection of drinks and menu items, and they'll help you if you have any questions. I just got a regular filter coffee, but there were many cafe drinks I'd come back to try.
The coffee is authentic and good. It’s a vibe. But my friend with the avocado toast would say it is not… she rated the avocado toast 2/10 because the avocado toast was too salty but definitely not the most vile thing she ever tasted (she ate half). Cream cheese bagel was good tho 10/10
The staff and the interior are what really makes this place special. A well -decorated, big, open, lounge space with plenty of room to get a little work done away from the office. The coffee was pretty good as was the breakfast: I had the buttermilk biscuit breakfast sandwich and the salmon bagel. But again the staff was so endearing that it’s definitely a place I’ll return.
What an excellent spot, great space that just fits. Wonderful staff, super friendly, even at 6am when they open as well. The coffee is excellent, both my americano and their signature Churro Latte which is held in high regard (rightly) by locals is top notch. There is lots to enjoy here and their logo is on point to boot. This is a firm favourite for me and one you should go out of your way to experience and enjoy.
This is my current favorite coffee shop and roaster. Beans are always roasted fresh and has the roast day marked on the bag/tin. Dark Side of the Moongoat is always stocked at home. The staff are super nice and knowledgeable. The food is excellent, the avocado toast and smoked salmon bagel are my go to orders when I'm staying for food. In addition to fresh roasted coffee they also sell various things for making coffee as well as matcha and various merch. The place has pretty cool atmosphere. WiFi password available on request.
Found my New Fav! Yum Yum! Dark Roast with Heavy Cream and this Americano was absolutely delicious! Team is friendly! Vibe is cool…a lot of people working on Saturday afternoon—looked like teams of people Co-Labs going on 🤔
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Moongoat Coffee, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience! From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service that truly made me feel welcome. The star of the show, of course, was the coffee. I ordered both the Coffee Latte and the Churro Latte, and they were nothing short of exceptional. The Coffee Latte had a rich and smooth flavor, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of espresso and steamed milk. It was a comforting and invigorating start to my day. Now, let's talk about the Churro Latte. Oh, my taste buds were in heaven! The combination of the aromatic coffee and the delectable hints of cinnamon and caramel made for a truly unique and indulgent experience. It felt like sipping on a churro in liquid form! I couldn't get enough of it. Beyond the incredible beverages, the atmosphere at Moongoat Coffee was cozy and inviting, with comfortable seating arrangements and a pleasant ambiance. It was the perfect spot to relax, catch up with a friend, or simply enjoy some quality "me" time. What truly sets Moongoat Coffee apart, though, is the exceptional service provided by the staff. The baristas were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They took the time to explain the menu, answer all my questions, and even offered recommendations based on my preferences. Their attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm for their work made the entire experience that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend paying a visit to Moongoat Coffee. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or simply looking for a cozy spot to unwind, this place has it all. With their outstanding service, delicious coffee options like the Coffee Latte and Churro Latte, and inviting ambiance, Moongoat Coffee is a hidden gem that deserves all the recognition. I can't wait to return for another exceptional cup of coffee!
Some of the best coffee I've ever tasted! The Goddess and I have gone a couple times now and were very happy each time. She is VERY particular about her coffee, so a coffee shop impressing her is no easy feat! During our last visit she had a honey latte. It was flavored just right without being too sweet. The location looks like a former warehouse, but don't let this stop you. It still a nice environment. Both times we went at off hours, when you wouldn't expect a crowd, and both times it was packed! This is always a good sign. But don't fear, we found a place to sit without a problem. Give MoonGoat a try!!
Megan went above and beyond by staying late so I could pick up our espresso beans, and I’ll never forget that. She was warm, accommodating, and made the whole interaction feel effortless and appreciated. That kind of care turns a coffee stop into loyalty for life. Truly exceptional service.
Delicioso y perfecto. Y el servicio es amable y rápido.
Plenty of seating inside also as many laptop user as seating. They sounds like have food selection but not sure if anybody can get a seating. We had to make it to go. Coffee was good. Not as good as my Russian coffee shop but good. Plenty of parking.
This is very popular place, we were there on Saturday and there was a huge line. Keep in mind that there a free valet parking, but you need leave tips👀 I don’t recommend avocado toast, the avocado was awful taste, and the salmon bagel 3/5. However, I liked coffee.
Someone recommended this place to me, I love their blonde lattes and coming here to work on my podcast. Good vibe here and not too far from the beach. My go to drink now is a chagaccino and it’s alright here Ersatz Era Podcast is a self help based podcast available anywhere for free
A great place to study, there is plenty of seating and charging. WiFi is not very good though probably because there’s too many people competing to it. Matcha is good and they also have some pastry and toast. Overall a good cafe to chill or study. They also open until 9pm!!
Overall it’s a great spot and an upgrade from the Greehouse. The fizzy Americano with cascara is truly incredible. My only complaint is the speed. If you’re going to be a well-known brand and open to the public, you should have more than one barista and employee doing each job. Those of us that work in the business park are on time crunches and limited breaks, so it needs to be faster with the increased volume of other customers. The longer operating hours are also a MAJOR win.
u have to walk across the street to another space if u want WiFi… and its only open til 2PM… and the internet service is awful so couldn’t even use cellular/a hot spot. and cashier was rude. won’t be back
Usually very good at garden Grove but my first time to Costa Mesa could have been better. No wifi but that's ok I can use my hotspot right? and, when you pay 11+ dollars for a pour over, and receive it lukewarm, that was a complete drag. At least make it hot or notify customer as soon as it's ready. I get it, the pour over is automated but if I don't watch over the process, I don't feel confident that I will receive the coffee as soon as it is done brewing, give or take a minute or two. I should have spoke up and said something on the spot but it was so busy I couldn't even get through.
The coffee is good, the food is better, the staff can improve. I have been here a few times and the staff has messed up on my order and when politely asked if they can adjust the mistake was told that they make what's on the receipt and that's final. Wish they can be more flexible with that.
I’ve never had a drink here that I’ve liked. Recently stopped for a hot chocolate and thought “this is easy, they can’t mess this up” but my drink was basically hot oat milk with very little flavor. I keep trying different things and hoping for different results but I just don’t get it. The atmosphere is good and the employees are great but the product does not live up the hype for me personally.
Slow drinks and mocha was not meaningfully or well foamed after the wait. Happy to pay a premium for really well made espresso drinks, but a miss today. I’ve had great experiences in past. Still excited to try the beans.
Ordered hot Churro Latte, as the signature for this coffee shop. It came not being hot. They replaced it with a hot one. It tasted amazing but I think it is relatively overpriced ($6.5 for a medium size). The overall atmosphere is good. The architecture gives you a coffee shop feeling. The background music was relatively loud. In some tables the AC blows straight on your head making it cold to some folks. They give free Wi-Fi for 2 hours. There are some outside seats/tables.
Espresso drinks were well made. Got a couple of croissants and they were pretty dense, it was flaky on the outside, but it wasn't well laminated or airy as it should be. During covid time the staff were wearing masks, yet everyone else was not wearing masks, and this was when CA had indoor masking mandate until Feb 15th.
The coffee was not great. Beans overly roasted and bitter. The croissant is fantastic. It's warmed and super crispy and flaky. There is an odd ball valet parking situation here. Bring cash.
Quite tasty coffee, more consistent the last few times and my fave is the hulk juice & yogurt parfait they have ! Food could be better but not terrible. Would prefer if they were to ask me if I want my potato chips inside the box or not. I don’t like when it’s inside since it gets all wet and especially if I’m gonna eat right away.
The owner of this moon goat deliberately turns off the WiFi until 3pm to discourage people to study/work on their laptops here— which makes total sense on Fri-Sunday when people do come for brunch and coffee. But on a random Tuesday, when there are pretty much only people on their laptops? What is up with that? Such a silly business choice imo would not recommend this place
Really this is small size for $ 4.50. California is becoming more greedy. This is espresso size cup not intended as small drink. Packaging cost more then the cheap fluid inside:-( 😭 sad. Was about to purchase gift card for my customer. No way.. It was never 8 oz ! BS 3 sips it was more like espresso size one less star for that
Oh, their coffee is just okay, but who needs friendly staff anyway? And trays? Who needs trays when you can play a fun game of "let's see how many coffees we can spill on the way across the street"? Brilliant setup, really. Just pure genius.
This used to be a cool place to go to, always a bit crowded but it was OK, coffee was fine, but expensive. But now they require you to vallet your car just to sit in a coffee shop, and if you want to use WIFI during normal daytime hours, they shuffle you across the street to a warehouse type building with terrible seating options. Do not recommend.
If you order food...plan on no place to sit due to all the non customers there to use the wifi and do school work.... how about seating for people that actually order something to eat and need to sit down.... I had to eat in my car....the sandwich was great btw
Overdue review. I went there on November 10th and the drip was the worst I have ever had at a local roaster, it was extremely weak. It’s odd because the coffee shop around the corner isn’t a roaster and they have excellent drip coffee. Nice vibes on the inside, staff was helpful and friendly. The food was good, but portions are small, and the price is steep for eating inside of an industrial building. Valet parking is a weird vibe for a coffee shop, but I understand they are trying to be respectful of the surrounding businesses.
Used to be my go to place but now you can only work at their building across the street because they said it’s quieter…. They have construction going last 2 times with a literal chainsaw running making impossible to work or read or they had a guy playing guitar and singing at the top of his lungs (can’t make this up).
Do NOT purchase their online subscription. If you try to cancel it, they will try to convince you to keep it and if you still want to cancel it they will just ghost you and keep charging your account anyway. I've had to issue two chargebacks already (successfully) and had to initiate a third one today.
horrible place, i don’t know why people keep coming back. came here on a sunday to get some work done after seeing positive reviews. they have a relatively small menu with a small latte costing around $6. the coffee was tiny for the price and tasted very average. the reason for the 1 star is their wifi policy. it’s not stated anywhere but there’s no wifi during brunch hours and during regular hours you’re capped at 2 hrs for wifi. very stupid rules for a literal cafe that people come to do work and study. the staff was also rude when we asked about the wifi and the guy glared at us and asked if we had ordered food (which we did not) seemingly annoyed that we were not there for food
This place is really gone downhill. Went in to get some of the overnight oats just to find out that the normal six dollar portion has been completely cut in half to a tiny cup. Their coffees were already overpriced, right from the get-go, and now their food has become overpriced as well. I’m a local and I won’t be back. To the owners who are trying to pinch pennies, I guess I get it, but I’d like you to know that it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Good food and coffee but wifi not available until 2pm. To make it worse you get 2 hours of wifi with every purchase. If you need more wifi you need to make another purchase. Horrible concept. Don’t support a business that rations out wifi to make more money. No outlets to charge your electronics.
The girl at the register needs to go because why is she so rude about a question regarding a gluten free muffin? Her customer service needs to improve
My daughter brought me a bagel sandwich this morning from this place. It was supposed to be an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich. I don't know who is in charge of the food but they need retraining. There is a disk of an egg in the middle of a giant bagel with some wilted arugula. I took the middle of the bread out of the top of the bagel to try to cut down on the bread-to-egg ratio. I then added a slice of cheese, actual bacon (because the sandwich we paid almost $12 for was missing the bacon that was ordered) and another egg to try to bring the bread-to-egg ratio to a more reasonable level. And the coffee is *not* good.
First time visiting. Overall the vibe is cute but the coffee itself wasn't the best experience. I got a latte and the milk tasted very sour and the chocolate chip cookie was hard as rocks. Wouldn't come back for the coffee, but the location seems like a good study spot
I rarely leave reviews but this should be said for anyone who wants to get any work done. Staff did not explain well that wifi only works in the other building before 3pm and the main cafe at 3pm. I had already ordered food for dine in and they watched me pack it up myself to bring it over after inquiring about where to work. The other building did not have AC or accessible charging ports. Also not to mention, the wifi’s on the receipt are flipped and it took me 15 minutes to figure out. This is such an easy fix and honestly ruined my experience with the place. I have no problem paying 25 dollars for toast and a small coffee because it was actually quite good; my problem was that nobody could explain how wifi or work accommodations were when asked.
