The Pocket is a cute, health-focused brunch spot loved for its delicious and healthy food, friendly staff (especially Emma!), and great coffee. Blueberry pancakes and the Brekky sandwich are popular. Some note it's tucked away and can be hard to find.

Loooove this local spot on a route I walk dogs! They’re dog friendly and take Apple Pay so it makes a quick pitstop on our walks a breeze! I enjoy their paired down avocado toast for an easy vegan snack (country toast, avo, greens, + salt / pepper). It’s so nice to order something simple yet it be tasty! Their espresso is also super smooth. I love a classic shot, but if you’re feeling fancy the orange tie (espresso, orange bitters, simple syrup, + orange peel) is an unexpected twist! Also, if you want to work on your laptop here, there are outlets in the wall to keep you charged up. Music is a little loud for calls but there’s a nice spot to sit out front. The owner is friendly and accommodating, truly makes for an awesome experience. Coming from a gal who frequents a few too many coffee shops, I would recommend checking this spot out.
So glad to see The Pocket has reopened on Monrovia (formerly Outpost Kitchen). Made my first visit since they’re back and had an excellent Brekky sandwich with really fresh, delicious ingredients. As an Aussie, I’ve missed having access to food like this. The coffee is great, service is friendly, and the atmosphere is funky and welcoming. Easy parking out front is a nice bonus. Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality food and good coffee in Costa Mesa
THE CUTEST SPOT. Barista was so amazing, I didn’t get her name but she was so sweet. She brought out our drinks for us and checked in half way to make sure we were enjoying our lattes (WE DID). We had to go back for seconds before we left 😝. Parking was super easy so that was a plus. And the seating was spacious. So if you’re looking for a space to study or do work I would definitely come here!
People, come. Well lit, yummy, spacious, kind staff. Enjoyed myself.
Ill start with it was amazing and I highly recommend, now impressions.. We were a bit thrown off by the setting, place really is like your eating in a kitchen. Despite the high tables and stools, the seating is comfortable with different styles to fit your needs. Couldn't help but look over at our neighbor's plates and develop an envious hunger. You probably can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and thankfully they serve up orders quickly.
Delicious and healthy. Great atmosphere. Great service. It has an open kitchen where you can see them making your food. We will definitely visit again next time We are in the area.
I only visited once, but want to give five stars for so many reasons. First, tastes so good. We had a green bowl and ahi tuna wrap and the green bowl was surprisingly delicious. They mixed soft and chewy texture and hot and cold veggies, and sautee and steam for the veggies. Usually, having a veggie bowl special is very difficult but this place managed it. Second, ambience and service. Modern interiors, free parking, and spacious patio seating make me expect nothing more than as they are. Based on the number of reviews, this place seems new, and I want to recommend this place to everybody who sees this review.
Great breakfast place! I was a little skeptical when my Blueberry pancakes came. They looked small and not enough to fill me up. I was very wrong. They tasted delicious and more than filled me up. When the server saw me sliding into a food coma he commented “Yeah we don’t mess around” and I just smiled. Also my girlfriend got the Aussie Scramble, she loved it too.
First time in this place, this past Monday and it was one of the best places we have ever been! Emma went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and it was perfect. The food was fantastically delicious! We sat outside and it was kind of chill, but it was a beautiful sunny day in Newport Beach, so we enjoyed every single bite. Prices were reasonable and we plan to go back, next time in town.
Cute little restaurant tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Focused on organic healthy food. The Brecky sandwich is great with added avocado and extra egg. Could use extra prosciutto though. The almond croissant and chocolate croissant are great warmed up. The coffee is excellent!
Best breakfast in town! Located in a light industrial area of Costa Mesa, the only bad thing I can say about it is that it might hard to find the first time. I'm no foodie so I wont get into actual dish reviews so just come and see for yourself!
Wow. Vegan wow. Surprising wow. We came in from out of town and wanted a vegan breakfast. We went to a few different places that were fortunately closed because we found this place. I got the strawberry banana vegan pancakes and my husband got the breakfast burrito. Normally I don’t even order pancakes because they turn to mush, these were so fluffy and spongey almost. The flavor was like nothing I’ve ever experienced with a plate of pancakes. My husband who is a wrap/ burrito lover swears that this burrito was his favorite breakfast burrito to date. We come to California for travel and work often and we will be back. Can’t wait to try their other location. Thank you for making amazing food. This is how good should be. Your people were so kind and the whole place is an +A. Highly recommend.
Simply delicious! The blueberry pancakes were amazing and so was the Aussie scramble. So nice that we could sit outside.

The staff were very accommodating and friendly! I was able to make modifications to their wrap to make it vegan! Thanks Outpost Kitchen!
My husband and I went with our three boys and the WHOLE family loved their meal! This doesn't happen often! Not only was their food delicious and healthy but the staff was also kind and friendly-another rarity! We will definitely be back!! Highly recommended!
The Pocket just reopened here in Costa Mesa and just took a nice walk to check it out. Met the owners - super nice! The cold brew was great and the menu looks great as well. Excited to come back and try the food.

The food was tasty high quality for sure, this could explain the high prices. The pancakes were the best. I also had a juice that was so good. Service was just okay.
Cafe hotspot where all the cool locals hang to grab a bite, coffee, or just relax. Has a fun artsy vibe to it and the menu items are organic or non GMO/pesticides. The only downside is that I ordered 3 items with avocado and they forgot it :((((
Avo toast was great! Red eggs are a bit salty. Overall, a cool and yummy little brunch spot.
Don’t be distracted by the siren song of the farmhouse skillet—it’s almost certainly healthier that what you are expecting and if you’re trying to recover from last night then it won’t be what you want. Instead, the various iterations of avo toast are the way to go. Espresso pulled from their La Marzocco is real solid—especially in the form of a flat white—though I’m not sure what is the deal with the all-paper cups. Minus one half star for the skillet full of undercooked vegetables and and minus one half star for not having a proper cup for people to drink their coffee out of.

Please note I rate it 5 stars. Won't let me fix this error! Updated opinion! Okay, I went & had a wonderful lunch! I rated this place a 4 prior to this visit. I'm changing that to a 5 based upon my most recent visit! Food was really good & it was so comfortable! NO wait. This was my old review just before going for the 2nd time: "Based upon my 1st experience shortly after they opened, I'd rate it 4 out of 5. Good food & prices are reasonable & nice casual ambiance. I'm going to lunch there tomorrow & will be both surprised & disappointed if I don't rate it 4 or 5. Hoping for a 5! Will advise!" My advice? GO. TRY IT! I can't imagine you'll be disappointed unless you set out to be!
