The food was absolutely incredible. The momos were out of this world along with the Yak chili. Tara is a sweetheart and provides the best service ever!
Tara’s is the best. Friendly service, cozy ambience, inviting space. The food is delicious, flavorful, the tikka masala is my go-to, and love the okra. I always like to bring friends and loved ones here. Grateful for this place!
This is our favorite restaurant in LA! The food is so fresh and delicious! The owner is so nice and sweet. I have been coming here for many years. The best things are the tikka masala, thukpa, or daal combo plates! I highly recommend it. I’m coming back tomorrow! 😊
One of my favorite restaurants. Tara, her restaurant, staff, and food are all a gem, this place is truly special. The food here is beyond delicious, it’ll have you feeling like that food critic at the end of Ratatouille relating his dinner at Gusteau’s to his mom’s cooking. Everything is so yummy and you can taste how much effort and love Tara and her cooks put into each dish. As for my go to order, it’s always the Dal Matsu and I cannot recommend this dish enough. It comes with choice of protein (I recommend goat!), rice, lentils, spinach, side of yogurt, naan (the best naan ever) and pickled vegetables. It tastes like a well balanced meal that your mom would cook for you. Some other items I would recommend are the chicken momos and lemonade. Thank you for everything, Tara’s!
Amazing place! Been here multiple times now and always had a great experience - the momos, daal makhani, and saag paneer are my go-tos. Tara and her staff are also super kind and give great recs. Truly the best :)
We came all the way from Australia to LA and found this amazing Nepalese restaurant. The food was so authentic and full of flavor, honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. The owner dd was so incredibly kind and went above and beyond to help us out. She even let us use her phone to make a few calls while we didn't have a local phone number, which was such a lifesaver. It really made us feel so cared for and welcomed. Couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you so much for the amazing food and hospitality! This will definitely be my go-to spot every time I’m back in LA. 🙏❤️
We love Tara’s! My family and I have been coming here for years and all the food here has been consistent. Our favorite dishes include samosas, chicken tikka masala, chicken sekuwa and mango lasssi. If you need a down to earth place, Tara’s will a make you feel at home.
Love Tara's Himalayan! Biked here earlier today. Always order the samosas. Everything on the menu is so good, it's vegetarian friendly and has a peaceful outdoor patio surrounded by plants. The atmosphere is wonderful and the owner is really lovely. We always have a good meal and experience!
Tara’s Himalayan Cuisine is truly a hidden gem in LA! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into the heart of the Himalayas. The food is authentic, flavorful, and prepared with such care that every bite feels special. You can taste the love and tradition in each dish. What really makes this place shine is Tara herself - her warmth, passion, and genuine hospitality create such a welcoming experience. She clearly pours her heart into the restaurant, and it shows in every detail. I left feeling satiated, happy, and already excited to come back! Highly recommend to anyone who loves delicious food with soul!
I had an incredible dining experience at this Nepali restaurant! The flavors were absolutely authentic, and the balance of spices was spot on. Their momo (dumplings) are a must-try – perfectly steamed, with juicy fillings and a delicious dipping sauce that brings everything together. The yak chili was another standout dish, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of heat to awaken your taste buds. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, with subtle Nepali decor that gave it a warm, homely feel. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a culinary adventure that combines bold flavors and comforting dishes, this is the place to be. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Nepali cuisine or wants to try something new. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
The food is freshly made. It’s Himalayan cuisine with some Indian and Chinese twist on their menu. We especially love the veggie korma as it’s creamy and not overly flavorful. The ambience of the place is cozy and relaxing. They also serve in-house alcohol drinks. Parking in the rear. It’s a little pricey for the portion, but the quality is good. Worth the try!
After a long 8 hour drive from Reno to LA, we stopped by this Nepali restaurant to grab lunch. It had been a while since I ate momos so I was really excited. They had nice outdoor seating area. We ordered Chicken momo, chicken chowmein, chili chicken and thukpa. The gentleman working there recommended us to try their famous ‘Yak Chili’. At first I wasn’t sure how Yak meat tasted like but I really wanted to try it. Everything we tried was absolutely tasty but honestly the Yak Chili was the BESTTTT! The taste of the meat and spices were a perfect blend sautéed with crispy onions, bell pepper and you get a really nice taste of the garlic and ginger as well. We stopped by this place again before we headed back to Reno. 100% recommend trying it.
I can’t tell you guys how much I love this place. Our server was super nice and friendly. We visited last night coz we were craving some momos. We ordered chicken and veg thukpa, chicken and veg momos, chicken thaali and coz my friend she eats no spices and no barely any salt, so they made for her a special veggie item, which she did like. It looks like a family owned restaurant and the people were super nice. We ended up ordering 2 more plates of chicken momos and I ordered 2 more to go, their momos were so good.. I’m certainly going there again soon.
Tara’s is our go to for Goat curry and Momo’s. Staff is friendly and take effort to know if we like the food or need something else. Try their Red Sangria, it won’t disappoint you. I like the outdoor seating on a sunny day! Parking is very small and can fit max 2-3 cars so you have to search for street parking.
Picture this: you’re sitting at your table for 30+ minutes watching as waitresses float by you, plates filled with food never destined to reach you. Groups are seated and finish their meals before you ever get a chance to try yours, and as you lean back in your wooden chair, you cannot help but ask yourself: will that ever be me? In all seriousness, the service was incredibly slow and lacking in basic hospitality. While I’m not the biggest fan of plastic, I was a bit surprised by the lack of straws distributed especially for the mango lassi. In most restaurants I’ve frequented, it seems customary to give straws and a jug of water, or at least refill the water. None of these items were given unless explicitly asked, and as a customer it can be quite unnerving to have to make these basic demands. Moving on to the food, at which point we had waited a good 30 minutes, it was quite disappointing. The goat house specialty was small and not worth the almost $20 it cost. The goat itself was only somewhat tender, and the curry though flavorful lacked any amount of spice. In addition, our naan and paratha came later which meant we had to dig in to the curry without an accompaniment if we didn’t want the food to get cold. All in all if you’re ever out in LA, and want some Nepalese food…just book that flight to Nepal.
I tried to email Tara's directly but could not do so. I am shocked that my delivery order of chicken TIkka Masala for $18.95 had only six small pieces of chicken. I wanted a light meal but not that light. I have been in the restaurant for lunch when it used to be open and dinner and this was always a sizeable order for sharing. So very disappointed.
There was a hair on the momo, and the hospitality was the worst. Maybe their boss isn’t paying their employees enough. Worst Nepali restaurant I’ve been to in the USA. Their Thakali set was even worse. As a Nepali, I do not recommend their food to anyone. I had to write this review because I want to respect the hard-earned money of other Nepalis so they don’t waste it like I did in this shoddy restaurant. My dog would eat better than the food they served me.
