One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. All the small plates were faultless. Very inventive approach to preparing and cooking the seasonal produce. The start of the experience with a tour of the garden, which supplies their kitchen, followed by seating in the garden under hazelnut trees for the first few drinks and food was so lovely. The dining room looked out onto the garden vista and bird life was very attractive and held our attention. Service was attentive and perfectly timed. The sequence of the small plates was impeccable. The hand-made pottery used to serve the dishes were works of art. What more can I say? 5 star plus
This is truly worth the stop, worth the journey to Rioja simply for the restaurant itself. This is a 3-4 hour experience but not once did we feel bored or forgotten about. It was incredibly engaging. You are first taken to the patio area where you will enjoy some amuse bouche. They are crafted by the chef right in front of you and he explains about the dishes and the region. From there, you are guided to your table where the service is 5 star, truly impeccable in every aspect. This has great vegetarian and vegan options, and showcases the vegetables in the garden. The dishes are presented with immaculate plating and the contrast of flavours is remarkable. Truly one of the best dining experiences of our lives. Special thank you to Marta who toured us around the garden after lunch and explained their seed saving, fermenting and harvesting.
Spent my 50th birthday here and what a gem! I’ve traveled to 60 countries and eaten at many Michelin restaurants, and I’m a classically trained French Chef and this is in my top 5! The service was impeccable! The food especially the vegetables from their garden were the most delicious vegetables I’ve had in my life. The creativity from the chef to the ambiance was unforgettable. The vermouth and the wine they made onsite was spectacular. Must get the wine pairing. This is a MUST when in the Rioja region. I’ve attached a few of the dishes, not all. Keeping some as a surprise ;)
Amazing experience where we felt like the most important guests in the world. The preparation of the food, explanations, and wine pairing and descriptions were amazing. What a treat that lasted several hours. Beautiful dining room and experience. We loved every minute. Staff was amazing.
One of the best culinary experiences I've had!! Let's start with the fact that this is a restaurant with a Michelin star and a green star (they only use natural ingredients that they grow themselves). We started with a tour of their spectacular garden where they explained to us about all the many crops they use for the dishes in the restaurant, then we ate a few starters in a pastoral area outside, a few more starters inside with the chef's explanations and then we moved inside where we ate the rest of the dishes. Everything was delicious in a way that was out of this world! Except that from the beginning to the end we received service at the highest level! I take my hat off…..we had a lot of fun and I really hope we'll be back in the future! Thank you very much !!
My wife and I recently visited Venta Moncalvillo, and it was, without a doubt, the best culinary experience we've ever had. The restaurant is in the tiny village of Daroca de Rioja. The first thing that strikes you when you get there is the beautiful garden, from which they source many of their ingredients, and the architectural design of the building. After touring the grounds, the experience starts with appetizers and a sample of local wines in a room that overlooks the mountains and faces a water fountain. Before we went to the main room, Chef Ignacio Echapresto met with each visitor and prepared three appetizers for us. Each dish was a masterpiece! The wine selection was outstanding, featuring exceptional regional wines that complemented our meal. Meeting Chef Echapresto was a major highlight of our afternoon. The attentive staff made our experience even more special. We highly recommend Venta Moncalvillo to anyone visiting La Rioja – it's a must-visit for foodies!
Must visit - from farm to table. Incredible variety of dishes with veggies and herbs straight out of the restaurant’s orchard and veggie garden. Ask for an infusion and watch the waiter go out and pick the ingredients for you tea …
Everything was perfect! From the warm welcome and the insightful orchard tour to the cozy ambiance of the welcome area, and, undoubtedly, each thoughtfully prepared course on the tasting menu – it was an amazing experience! A big thank you to the restaurant staff for providing such an outstanding dining experience!
The best food experience of my life! We came from Greece to la Rioja region for this restaurant. It is a must! Everything was amazing! Extra points for David who was really helpful 🙂
Really nice restaurant with really tasty dishes. Loved the tasting menu. A must stop for foodies
Fantastic experience, also for vegetarians
One experience you need to live!!
Exquisite! A must go! Food and service are superb!

This place deserves all of the praise it has gotten! It was an amazing experience from start to finish. They have great english and can explain most things to you. First, you have a tour of the beautiful garden and see many different processes of how the food is done, which shows you just how local the ingredients are. Then you start the food and drinks. The whole experience is longer, like 4+ hours, but so worth it . I have been to several 2 and 3 Star michelin restaurants, and this one really does rise above for me. You can taste the freshness of all the ingredients and see how much work is put into all the courses. We added the wine pairing on top of the menu and think it also adds to the whole experience. I don't think my words can nearly do justice for the whole experience. If you have the chance, definitely set a reservation!!!
Venta Moncalvillo is a beautiful place. Upon arrival one of the staff will take you through their beautiful vegetable garden and explain their cooking philosophy, which is heavily centred around vegetables. You then have an aperitif and some hors d’oeuvres either in a side room with view of the garden, or in the garden itself. Following that you will have more little bites which are explained and cooked in front of you. Once you’re at your table you realise that there are no pictures or sculptures anywhere, but instead a massive picture window which shows you the garden in all its glory. For food you have two menu choices, one vegetarian and one with fish and meat. There are no detailed explanations as they want it all to be a surprise. The food is all excellent. The wine list is big and very varied in terms of price, and the sommelier is happy to advise. All in all a great experience which I can only recommend.
A place that transcends food and is true art - a once in a lifetime experience watching the chef/owner go out to the garden to pick your food and then prepare it magnificently in front of you. Ordered a taxi and was worried he’d have to wait an extra 20mins, only to discover the CHEF/Owner had personally gone out there and given him coffee and food while the driver waited. What a breathtaking classy place that takes customer experience to Michelin level
As a michelin rated restaurant, there is some hype going into it. That said, it more than lived up to the rating. Amazing food. We had the September moon menu with wine tasting and it was terrific- great range of tastes. I didnt like it all but the tastes, ingredients and sauces were amazing. Everything is sourced from their garden on premise and farm. Worth the 45 minute drive for us in the area. We had just flown in from US and were hungry as we hadn't eaten that day. It was the only meal we needed! Highly recommend and I cant remember ever going to comparable restaurant. And it's a great value for what u get with the wait staff very attentive- explaining all of the ingredients. Loved the beet salad. Something that is not normally on list of things to eat. Really amazing.
Fantastic meal. We went for lunch and it could not have been a more comprehensive and enjoyable experience. Setting may be out of the way but it is worth it.
Incredible experience of fantastic food and atmosphere. A chain of delicious sets each of which is a fine art of food - and not just “to eat” - but to enjoy the process. This is a sort of culinary show: different parts of your food journey goes in different places of the restaurant: in the garden, terrace … This is a real adventure. You need to reserve at least 4-5 hours to go with. Also very friendly staff. And I need to specially thank Ivan, the sommelier , for his fantastic advises of vines that perfectly match the food

Delicious tasting menu with high remarks to the prawn with zucchini spaghetti and the oyster sauce, seabass and the meat were also delicious. Disappointed with the snails omelette, and surprised with the gazpacho balls and their cod fish hidden behind traditional cheese forms. Very disappointed with the wine pairing as the sommelier kept trying grapes that we mentioned we didn't like. The staff is very kind, indeed we repeated the gazpacho as one of the balls arrived broken. Quiet 7 tables dinning room with views to their beautiful garden. Worth the experience but not sure for a second time.
