Delicious brunch! The crabcake eggs Benedict were incredible, only $22 for 2 size-able crabcakes and the dish was cooked perfectly. The soup bowl was also delicious and very filling. The restaurant itself is massive and very nicely decorated. Great for a walk-in as there’s so may seating options!

I went on January for my fiance's birthday and we loved it. The service was top notch, shout out to our server Pedro and the managers too! And the food don't even get me started 10/10 ! Definitely a place I would recommend to family and friends!

Really great experience here on a busy Sunday! Service was excellent, and the food was amazing. My girlfriend got the frittata and added slow roasted tomatoes to it with avocado on the side. And I ordered the New England Clam Chowder in a bread bowl which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

My friend and I had a wonderful evening in the city which started here for dinner. The nachos were some of the best I have ever had. The burger was wonderful for me and my friend greatly enjoyed the chicken piccata. The service was quick and friendly. Would definitely go back for the food.

This is the place to eat when you are on Newbury Street. The calamari is maybe the best I've ever had. Their version of meatloaf is fantastic. Service was great as well.

We had the best experience ever! Our server, David, was incredibly kind and thoughtful. He gave us great recommendations and paid attention to every detail. Pedro was also very helpful and attentive. The food was delicious, but what we loved the most was the amazing service and the positive energy from both David and Pedro. We totally recommend this place!

Cozy on a rainy evening. We came after 9pm and still felt very welcomed. Server Nicole was super helpful. Crab dip delicious with yummy baked bread. Roast beef sandwich and chicken pot pie both delicious.

This place is Incredible!! Probably the most affordable on Newbury with Amazing food. I do recommend booking a spot in advance so that you aren’t stuck in line waiting. I highly recommend their Maine Lobster Roll, to die for Our server, Bella was amazing and was always checking in on us to make sure everything was going well. Everything is clean, organized and ready, I’m very happy with my experience here and would recommend to anyone 100%

Great place for a dinner. Tha ambiance at downstairs is very good if you prefer not to be on the street. Lobster was a fun attraction, nachos were acceptable, but the creme brule for a finishing touch was very delicious.

I really enjoyed my meal here at Joe’s. We had a short wait and were seated at the edge of the restaurant right by the sidewalk with the air flow from outside. This made for a pretty comfortable atmosphere. We received great service throughout our meal; we weren’t pressured to order quickly, and the bread brought to us was soft, especially with the butter. I ordered the Prime Rib French Dip, which was delicious; the bread was soft, the meat was cooked well, and the au jus gave this sandwich some great flavor. The fries that came with the meal were lightly salted and tasted good. My father had the fish and chips, which was a bit crumbly (the fish) but still decent. My mother enjoyed her California Crab sandwich, which consisted of cold crab on top of sliced avocados and shaved cucumbers on a garlic roll. My little brother had some Parmesan buttered noodles, which made for a generous portion even though it’s on the kids menu (he had been worried that it wouldn’t be enough food, but it turned out to be plenty). Kids get a free sundae after their meal, and my brother liked his vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. I personally had a wonderful experience, especially when considering the French Dip.

Overall pretty good for American food. It was a busy weekend for the Marathon but they managed to keep things somewhat on schedule. The prices were on par with most other places in the area and the food ended up being good. Had the Cure burger ($24) which had pretty good flavor and was a fairly filling burger. They had gluten free buns and took care to use a separate fryer. Would recommend. Partner had the French onion soup and the Caesar salad and found them to be okay. Had a house made lemonade and that was fine too. I think that people who like American food will enjoy this place.

I was not looking for dinner 🍽️ but I was becoming hungry. I walked past the window 🪟 seats of this restaurant and the food looked good! After walking Newbury Street, I decided to try here. Expecting a window seat 🪑, which to me is great 👍, I was taken downstairs to a comfortable booth to my surprise 🫢. I had multiple servers and all of them were great! I had the Chicken Piccata with complimentary fresh bread 🍞 and butter. Yummy 😋! Classic rock 🪨 played at a quiet level 🎚️. The overhead lights dimmed a bit as the sun ☀️ set. The bathroom was in good shape. I used to run janitorial crews so I cannot help but notice. I had a better time than I expected! Prices are typical of running a business in Boston. You are a 🪨 stones, not Rolling, throw from the Commonwealth Avenue Mall if you want to walk off a few calories. I recommend a visit!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Joe’s, located at 121 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As soon as we arrived, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a great meal. John, our waiter, was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. He recommended the Blackened Fish Sandwich, and I’m so glad he did—it was nothing short of spectacular! The Blackened Fish Sandwich was perfectly executed; the fish was cooked to perfection, with a delightful balance of spices that enhanced its natural flavor. The accompanying bread was so fresh and flavorful that it could easily be enjoyed on its own. Every component of the dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious, making it a standout choice. John’s service was exemplary, and his enthusiasm for the menu made the dining experience even more enjoyable. His recommendation was spot on, and his attentiveness ensured that we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. My friend opted for the Tuna Tartare, and he was equally impressed. He raved about how fresh and well-seasoned it was, adding to the overall positive experience. Joe’s is a fantastic dining spot with excellent food, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on the Blackened Fish Sandwich—it’s a must-try! I highly recommend Joe’s for a memorable meal and great service.

The clam chowder in a bread bowl and the cure burger were amazing. Top 5 best clam chowders I’ve had and top 5 best burger I’ve ever had. Our waitress came off a little rude towards the end of our visit. We had asked how much it would be to upgrade to the Parmesan truffle fries as our side and she said $4. When we got our bill, the fries were up charged $5 instead of $4. The bill had also not been split, so when I asked her to split the check, I also mentioned the upcharge mistake on the fries. When she brought the check back, she made sure to tell me she “took my dollar off” in a very sarcastic and rude way. Maybe it was because we were from out of town, or maybe it was because she had a rough shift, who knows. It wasn’t the fact of saving a dollar, it was the principle of charging me the right amount for what I ordered. With all of this being said, I would eat here again every time I come to Boston. The food and atmosphere were great.

I had a really nice experience there! Food was good, staff was nice and the place it’s really pretty. The food is a little bit overpriced but it makes sense for the place it’s located!

Hubby and I went here for brunch as suggested by Damian, a lovely gentleman at the concierge of Westin Copley (where we’re staying). It was packed with people at around 11:45am, but since the restaurant has a bar, we sat at the bar. I ordered the clam chowder and Buffalo Chicken with waffles, while husband had an omelette some potatoes, smoked salmon and an irish coffee. I’m not a fan of buffalo chicken but I loved the way the waffles was made, it was perfectly crispy on the outside and it was delicious especially with the smoked salmon. I didn’t eat much of the buffalo chicken tenders. Hubby enjoyed is irish coffe and his omelette and potatoes. Basically he loved everything about what he ordered 😆 which I was glad about. One this is for sure, the clam chowder at Joe’s is more delicious to me than the clam chowder at Legal Seafood. At Joe’s, the chowder was not runny and it was more flavorful.

Joe’s actually really surprised me. My sister and I kicked it off with a round of espresso martinis which were great. My brother got coffee which they pour straight from a nice little pot. I got the classic American breakfast which was delicious. The sausages were flavorful and the potatoes were perfectly cooked + seasoned. The eggs were very basic but that seems to be the norm at breakfast places these days. I stole bacon from my dad and it was great as well. Lastly, they have a gluten free toast option which was way better than I expected.

We went there after being very disappointed in another restaurant nearby. The food was great, the drinks perfect, the bread pudding (dessert) was the best one I ever had. The place wasn't too loud and the staff was very friendly end experienced. Great experience, highly recommend.

First time visiting Boston with a friend. We shared the lobster roll and I got the salmon entreé. My friend got the rotisserie chicken. Safe to say we were both very full after this meal. Really amazing food. Good selection of drinks. Would highly recommend for sure!

Me, my husband and friend ate here for the first time, made a reservation the night of and had no problem getting in. All the food was really good. I had the cheeseburger egg rolls, meatloaf and my husband got a burger. My friend hot the chicken pot pie. Overall it was a good priced menu with good options to choose from.

Had a lovely wholesome meal, portions are big, service was great and food tasted nice! We had the tuna tartar and nachos to start and then the cob salad and the Reuben sandwich for mains. No issues at all with the food and the service was super efficient and friendly. Would definitely go back!

We came to get lunch and even though the restaurant was a bit slow, Lina made our visit truly special. She was attentive, always had a beautiful smile, knew the menu, and recommended perfect dishes—loved the chicken pot pie, fish and chips, and cookie skillet! She even engaged us in conversation, making us feel welcome. Pretty reasonable prices and great service.

We had a great experience, table at the bar area. Abby was our waitress and she was friendly, attentive, and very helpful throughout the meal. She checked in at all the right times and made sure everything was taken care of without being overbearing. The food was good as always, consistent and satisfying. Table of 3 people

Great food & good experience all around. It was pretty busy but still got seated in a reasonable time and the service from my waiter was excellent. I feel so bad because I’m not too sure of his name with my horrible memory, but I want to say it was Marco (short curly haired Hispanic gentleman). He gave me & my party really good recommendations as well as being super nice and attentive. If you’re looking for good food with nice ambience, this is one of these spots that should be on your list in Boston.

Had a great experience at Joe’s on Newbury. I originally met Diego when he was working at the Beacon Hill Hotel, and decided to come in and see him here for dinner — glad I did. I ordered the BBQ pizza, an Old Fashioned, and a beer, and everything was on point. The pizza was flavorful and cooked perfectly, drinks were made well, and Diego was super attentive without being overbearing. He made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Definitely coming back with friends and family — solid food, solid drinks, and great service.

Outstanding Service and Delicious Food – Ask for Hunter! We visited Boston for a few days and ended up going to Joe’s on Newbury not once, but three times — for brunch, lunch, and dinner — all because of the incredible experience we had on our first visit. We stopped in for brunch on our first day, based on a recommendation from our hotel. There was no wait (a rarity in Boston!), and we were lucky to have Hunter as our server. He was warm, friendly, and immediately welcoming. He brought us waters and offered some great menu suggestions. My mom and I went with the Lobster Benedict — it was amazing and super filling. My dad and brother had the Steak & Eggs, both cooked to a perfect rare (they like their steaks practically mooing!). Hunter was kind, funny, and incredibly attentive, checking in just enough without being overbearing. He truly made the meal memorable, which is why we decided to return. A couple of days later, we came back for lunch. While we didn’t have Hunter this time, the food was still excellent. I had the Mushroom Juicy Lucy — rich, flavorful, and not greasy at all. My brother had The Cure Burger and gave it rave reviews. Mom tried the Fish & Chips, which she absolutely loved. Dad had the Prime Rib French Dip with horseradish on the side and added Swiss cheese — he recommends it with the cheese! For our final dinner in Boston, I noticed Hunter was working and insisted we go back. This time it was just my parents and me. We all ordered the Lobster Roll — absolutely delicious! A special shoutout here to Hunter: My dad has a severe white onion allergy, and while we didn’t expect any in the roll, I asked Hunter to double-check. He confirmed with the kitchen that there were white onions mixed in, and thanks to their strict allergy protocol, he quickly had a new lobster roll made without any onions. His attention to detail and care for my dad’s safety truly went above and beyond. If you're in Boston, do yourself a favor and visit Joe’s on Newbury — and if you can, ask to sit in Hunter’s section. The food, service, and atmosphere are all fantastic, but Hunter’s genuine hospitality made our visits unforgettable.

I came with a friend for a 6:30PM reservation on Sunday, 02/01/26. Our servers name I think was Ayden P and he was wonderful. From start to finish funny charismatic and exactly who you would want working at a restaurant. I burnt my hand on the cookie skillet towards the end of our meal and he brought me an ice pack along with burn cream and a bandaid. Highly recommend asking to be seated in his section!!

5 Stars – Amazing Service! We had a fantastic experience at Joe’s on Newbury 9/28/2025 , and a huge part of that was thanks to our waiter, Wells. He was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we sat down. His service was seamless, friendly and he went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed!! If you're planning to visit, I highly recommend asking for Wells. He truly elevated our dining experience. Great food, great atmosphere, and top-tier service!

I stopped in for a leisurely lunch on a very cold day- sat at the window and ordered the lobster roll. It was so good! Service was friendly and prompt! I love the vents on the floor- kept my feet warm while I watched people walk by. All in all a wonderful experience! I’ll be back!

We came here after seeing people watching the football game inside. We got the last table which had a side view of the TVs and it did the job. The tables are well spaced out so it doesn't feel too cramped. We got a couple of apps to share while we watched the game. The food was decent but nothing special. I appreciated that the spinach and artichoke dip ($18) had a good amount of vegetables and wasn't overly heavy. The nachos ($18) were decent, but I would probably add chicken next time (which was an additional $8). The brussels sprouts ($13) were very sweet and oily, pretty standard. Service was good and the energy from everyone watching the game was great! It's not cheap or amazing food, but it was a nice place to watch the game.

Me and my friends ate here for lunch, and I waited 35 minutes to be seated. When we were seated, we got a table near the open kitchen. Plus, the bathrooms are nice, modern and clean. Spinach and artichoke dip($18) - chips are crunchy and warm but some chips on the bottom are stale, nice amount of dip Pan-Roasted Salmon' ($27) - the salmon was a bit too salty for my taste but when combined with the rice and lemon butter sauce, was a little bit better than normal. The jasmine rice was normal nothing to write home about, asparagus is a bit thicker than the normal slimmer ones I usually eat. Overall, the atmosphere here is great and looks are 10/10 and I don’t think I’ll come back for the salmon.

Lovely restaurant with large menu and many great food options for vegetarians and vegans 🌱 Cesar salad was delicious with nicely crunchy crotons, quinoa salad was great and portions are quite good too. Kids pasta was perfect and portions were very generous Scampi pasta was also great. Overall food is great. The seating was a bit uncomfortable and the restaurant was crammed with people which made it difficult for those of us sitting by the bar or the side tables as it’s too narrow for people to go in and out

Solid downtown American restaurant with solid food and service, and a nice atmosphere. Nothing we had blew us away as far as creativity or being unique, but there's a lot to choose from on the menu, you can customize most of the dishes, and everything was well prepared and tasty. Service was solid, I think they were a bit understaffed as the wait staff seemed a bit flustered, but everyone was friendly and did their best. Cocktails were very good, including the non alcoholic options.

S
Suhaani Gulati

Surprisingly they actually did have some veggie options like the portabelly mushroom burger which was really flavorful and delicious. The fish and chips were definitely the best ones I’ve had. The fish was perfectly soft. The cure burger was also really juicy and flavorful. The price point is really high though. The servers were really nice and the outdoor covered seating was really good as well.

Attentive, crisp, comfortable. Well made cocktails; Aperitif Spritzers and Old Fashioned. Delicious deep flavored French Onion soup, lots of onion and Gruyère. The Crab Dip...how flippin' yummy!! Do yerself a favour and swing by!

Reservations for dinner on a weekend trip to Cambridge. Busy place! Service was okay. Thankfully the chef took my wife's food allergy seriously because it felt like the server blew it off but then she was back after the chef had more questions. Food was very good. Instead of dinner we got a bunch of apps and sides. Starter bread was fantastic. Place was pretty cool, only wish it was less family friendly because some parents were not controlling their children. Very good bourbon sour.

We chose to eat at Joe’s on Newbury on the same night that we were going to see Pearl Jam at Fenway Park. Being 1.7 miles away from our paid parking location at Fenway park made this restaurant’s location perfect. We drove from Connecticut and we made reservations for eight. We parked at parking garages that were nearby and convenient as the street parking was all taken. We enjoyed a round of signature cocktails, craft beers and soft drinks with appetizers that included loaded lobster nachos, plain nachos and a lobster cocktail. The two plates of nachos and lobster cocktail was more than enough for our group of 8 and they were superb. Our entrees included a mix of dishes since we were eating early at 4 pm in order to get to a 6:30 concert. The menu had a wide selection of dishes to support all tastes and our waitress was extremely attentive and accommodating to ensure our dishes were prepared and served as we wanted. We even had one request for a vegetarian dish that was custom ordered on the fly. All our entrees were delicious and we left the restaurant with the satisfaction that we would not have eat ballpark food as a first order of business upon entering the park. One of the young ladies in our group (Giavanna) wanted me to mention her thoughts —- “the food was fresh and fast and the cheeseburger was delicious because the meat was so soft. I would love to come back . Another thing was the bathrooms were clean and pretty. That is my official opinion” My straw poll among our group of 8 was based on a score from one to 10 and we averaged 8.5. On a 5 star scale we collectively give this restaurant 4.25 out of 5 stars which rounds down to 4 stars. Also a special call out to our waitress Claire who did a superb job making sure our large group had everything we wanted. We all recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience.

Enjoyed our lunch at Joe’s on Newbury. Our food was good…we had wings x 2, salad, crab sandwich, and more. Our server was very nice.

We sat at the bar on the lower level, and Catherine provided excellent service. The fish and chips were delicious, and the beers were great as well.

Sat by the bar on the ground floor. Recommend to sit at the lower floor bar as it is less crowded. Don’t recommend the lobster roll and the chowder as both are bang average or not worth returning to. The service staff at the entrance were young and clueless when people show up to eat.

M
Magda A. Jabbar

Food was average, but we got good service and the vibe is nice.

V

Average experience. Sitting upstairs was nice for light and people watching. The food wasn't anything special for the price and was a bit cold. My wife specifically asked for no cilantro on her crab cake and they literally doused it in cilantro. Our waiter's attitude was ok but they should be stricter on appearance as he looked like he just walked in off the street and his pants were hanging so low it was embarrassing. Maybe my expectations were too high but I thought it would be a nicer place/experience.

S
Sarah Swalboski

Walked in for lunch the other day with some friends. I’ll start with the positives: the warm bread and butter and the French onion soup were both very good. Unfortunately, there were several downsides. The downstairs area was extremely hot. Everyone was dressed in normal attire - pants, long sleeves, or short sleeves, but it was uncomfortably warm. I’m not sure if it was the specific booth we were seated in or if the heat is typically turned up to compensate for the upstairs area. The service, while friendly, was very slow. As for the food and drinks, my friends ordered espresso martinis and cosmos, both of which were not good. Lastly, my friend ordered a burger medium rare, and it came out almost entirely pink (see attached photo). All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant for dining.

B
Brangden Stameetan

Seating and waiting staff we not good. The hostess told us the wait was 10-15 minutes and we ended up waiting about 45 minutes. We were only seated after going back to the hostess to ask about the waiting time. Waiter never asked if we wanted drinks. I asked for a drink when ordering my food and it never came to my table. Waiter rarely came to our table at all. Food was pretty good, prices slightly high

L
Leticia Zavala

I often get take outs, service and food is great but this time I am very disappointed. I ordered two lobster rolls and to my surprise I see that the portions of fries are ridiculously small plus no lemon. Not satisfied at all. I did not get what I paid for.

C
Chris Kelble

First had reservations as a group of 5. Still asked to wait 20-30 minutes and did so even though the table we ended up being at was open the entire time. Then when the food came out was very disappointed in the quality. My friend orders buffalo tenders were just plain grilled chicken drizzled with sauce. Waiter brought blue cheese instead of the requested ranch. They never came back so we weren’t able to request the correction. I ordered a raspberry lemonade. It was $6 for a cup of ice. Very disappointed. I should have just ordered a beer. I personally ordered the buffalo chicken and waffles. These chickens strips were disappointing because they were the size of your pinky, at least fried. Only 3 of them though. And the waffle was extremely disappointing. For $20 I was expecting at least a nice big Belgian waffle. Nope, instead it was what I could describe as just a regular Eggo waffle. Thin and soggy. I could have made a better waffle for free at a hotel continental breakfast. Long story short I paid $34 for a cup of ice and a snack. The only positive was the atmosphere.
