Lovely impromptu carvery. I can’t eat much so was delighted to see I could get a small plate. Yes that is a small plate! Still couldn’t eat it all. Tender meat, lovely roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Veg good too.

Absolutely lovely place and very dog friendly! Soon as you walk in you and your dog are greeted by staff. Food was amazing!! Service was good! Dogs was well catered for! Rooms was lovely and comfortable and clean, I don’t know why but for some reason the squirrel in the suite (a picture in our room) I kept chuckling at and was quite taking by him or her 🤣 big thank you to all the team at the pub you made me my friend and dogs very welcome!! Will definitely be back!

We mistakenly booked a table for the 13th not the 14th! Yet they still happily accommodated us. Our server was lovely - really bubbly and kind. She definitely saved our valentine’s day AND engagement meal! Food was also completely excellent. 5 STARS

We went for a work meal with 11 of us and we were met and taken straight to our reserved table by Rachael who looked after us brilliantly from start to finish. The service was friendly, fast and fuss-free. We all ordered starters and mains, and again the food was delivered in good time, and was utterly delicious and piping hot. I had the calamari and ‘dirty burger’ which I highly recommend, and there were clean plates and full bellies all round when we finished. Rach and the team were brilliant and looked after us all fantastically, and we were chatting about how nice it was this morning when we all came back to work. Looking forward to our next visit in a couple of weeks.😋

Booked a table for 3, 2 of us arrived as 3rd was late leaving work, staff were very helpful and accommodating. Had the best burger!! My son agrees too. Great location, bit hidden but has a massive car park. Will be returning soon.

We've not stayed here but we've often been for a drink or something to eat. Very friendly service, nice food and a choice of well kept beers. Nicely located, just off the main road and with two beers gardens, a lovely place.

Stayed local to this pub and our site owner recommended it. WOW!!! What a find. Fantastic food….the carvery is the best the family and I have ever had. All food was brilliant. Very clean and very child friendly. Service…..well this was simply blew me away. Dad of 3 young children on his own and the staff were so helpful. Shout out to Rachael who my girls loved choosing their carvery with. The flamboyant Justin who is just delightful And made our visits so funny and happy. Finally Lou….who does our a fine pint of Guinness. Thank you guys.

Plenty of parking. Management are lovely and new and old staff are amazing ! Really friendly and welcoming pub. If you’re looking to stay the rooms are spacious and very well decorated. Very clean and homey and a great little get away. Highly recommend coming to the countryman !

I returned to The Countryman Inn on the recommendation of my parents, after hearing that it had been taken over by new management. I was a bit cautious at doing so, because my previous experience was not favourable. However what a transformation! I hardly recognised the place. Now, the atmosphere, friendliness and efficiency of staff is great and the food was fabulous. Full credit to the new management in making this a great place to visit.

Very nice Sunday carvery. Had called in another pub but they were very busy with a long wait for food and recommended The Countryman to us. By the time we arrived, we were near the end of service so only a choice of 2 meats left, but plenty of vegetables. The red Cabbage was amazing, best I've tasted for a long long time.

We went there for Sunday lunch. The carvery does three different sizes. We had the smallest option, which was plenty for us and left just enough room for pudding. The food was excellent and the staff helpful and efficient. Lovely old building as well.

We had carvery and played Bingo Friday 27th February at lunch time and it was fantastic. The staff, food and Management were amazing. We have already booked again as we can’t wait to go back next month to see Ash and Justin and their team. You do need to book though as it is soooo good it gets full up. Love the place 👍

We came for my birthday last night (27/12) and the food and service we received was amazing! All staff very friendly and helpful. All the food was delicious, great portions + they even put a card and chocolates out on the table for my birthday and all came out singing happy birthday with candles on my pudding which was very thoughtful. The pub is lovely inside too! Would highly recommend this pub! X

We stayed here for 3 days over Christmas. It's been a wonderful experience. We have 2 big German Shepherds, which were treated royally by all the staff 🥰 The room, food and the staff were all exceptional. We had a brilliant Christmas day and such a fun time that we'll be back ! Highly recommend. Thank you to the whole team ☺️👍

I regularly eat the rump steak at The Countryman Inn and it is consistently excellent, perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and great quality every time. The location is exceptional, with beautiful surroundings that really enhance the dining experience, and the attention to detail throughout is impressive. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming, while the staff are exceptionally friendly, attentive, and professional. Everything is done to a very high standard. A true countryside gem and highly

Myself, daughter and son were at The Countryman on Sunday 11th January 2026 We had booked their carvery which is 10 out of 10 for food and service. As we finished our meal I was told by two lovely members of staff that our meals and drinks had been paid for by a wonderful lady and gentleman at the next table in a “Random act of kindness”. I was in tears at this incredible gesture, and I wish to thank them both very much, you have no idea what ment to us. And yes, I will most definitely be paying it forward Thank you. Thank you also to all the incredible staff at The Countryman Xx

Fantastic place to eat, the carvery is superb. Dog friendly to the point staff came over with a tray full of meat offcuts from the carvery which made our dogs day. Highly recommended as a superb, affordable place for a family to enjoy a meal out.

Sunday, 9.30am. 35 members of steam & vehicle preservation club enjoyed very good fresh cooked buffet style full english breakfast with tea and coffee. Landlords in were very friedly & attentive. Spacious privaye car park adjacent. Lovely building, large semi enclosed glass roofed patio at rear overlooking large well cared for garden. Dining areas were spacious and spotless, country village views were beautiful. Highly recommended. We plan to return

Probably one of the best carverys I've had. Large portion size, quality food in a lovely country pub with a good atmosphere. Pool table and play park for the kids available. Was very busy so would recommend booking ahead. They have gluten free options available.

Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Room was spotless, bed was super comfy. Breakfast was really tasty, we diverged from the menu, but nothing was too much trouble. Have already recommended it.

Perfect location, ample parking, lots of outdoor seating options, attentive staff, nice selection of beers, menu was varied, service quick, food delicious. Stayed overnight: room was lovely, bathroom spotless, bed comfy, pillows lovely and plump. Breakfast was plentiful. Will be booking again.

We visited the Inn this weekend. Staff are smashing, knowledgeable, informative, approachable and accommodating. It was more a less a last minute booking. We had read the reviews prior to booking. We travelled with our large friendly dog Wilf. Arrived on a manic Sunday afternoon, Carvery in full flow. Got booked in shown our room, nothing was too much bother. Had a meal, which was lovely. Then explored one of the walks around the area, to stretch ours n Wilfs pins. Comfy, clean room, spacious, sofa n chairs, we had a pleasant evenings sleep. The breakfast was hot, fresh and again service was prompt and met with polite member of staff. In all our stay was an enjoyable experience, n would recommend. Will certainly visit again, a great find. A Country pub, idyllic location, plenty of parking, dedicated staff run. Value for money, especially for these current times, ideally situated for exploring the wider area.

We visited on Father's day with our daughter, her husband and our 2 grandchildren. We were amazed how well set out the tables were inside, very spacious. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was brilliant...everyone of us enjoyed it. The lady who served us was very apologetic when there was a delay on the children's food, we were aware that they were very very busy and ok with the wait. Our 4 year old granddaughter took a shine to the waitress and gave her a big hug when we left. We were sat at table 8, incase the lady sees this post. We will definitely be back x

We just came here for a roast recently, it was soooo good. We always come to this pub whenever we are in the area, I wish we lived closer as I would be here all the time. Staff are brilliant and friendly especially to the dogs ☺️. Food is always delicious. It's just a great country pub 🙌🏼💯

We came here for my twin boys 21st birthday on Sunday and what a service. The staff went above and beyond and surprised my boys with a card and gifts which was so nice. We had a carvery for dinner which is the best I've ever had. I would highly recommend here and will be returning very soon!!!

Always a nice welcoming atmosphere. We went yesterday for Sunday lunch and it was delicious, we have been for meals previously and can never fault the food or service. Irene & Sharon - amazing and so friendly who went above and beyond for our little girls yesterday, they are a credit to the business. Thank you.

We had a wonderful lunch at this cosy and friendly pub. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and full of flavor. What made our experience truly special was the fantastic service from our waitress, Rachael. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Her warm personality and excellent service made our visit even more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this lovely pub!

One of our local "country" pubs about 15 minutes drive from Weymouth. Large free car park, separate one for those staying there. Lovely old pub with several areas in which to drink or eat plus large number of outside tables. Food portions were generous and the staff very helpful and friendly, even the chef came out to have a quick chat. Plenty of room between the tables. Set menu also available at very reasonable price. Will definitely visit again but won't have the crumble dessert as it was made with oats and not the traditional way.

Only stopped for a meal. LOL The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Good choice menu with specials. Food was both good quality and value. Would eat there again and have no hesitation in recommending.

Good country pub with decent beer and lovely garden. Also nearby walks for dogs and what better way to finish off with a welcome pint! Food looks good, but haven't sampled as yet, Wednesday and Sunday roasts available!

R

Stayed for a night, at £180 you do expect a nice room, the bed was very nice, the room was spacious enough, some attention to detail was needed for this price we think, dont expect to see paint missing off the wall, and the shower was crying out for a rain forest head. There was a fault with the water in the morning for various rooms, so the shower was cold, not nice. The breakfast was one of the best ever, superb, so a slightly mixed stay.

S
Sandra Heron

Lovely pub and great staff but we didn't enjoy our food very much. My husband didn't enjoy his sandwich much as the white bread was a bit dry. My fish and chips were more batter than fish and I didn't enjoy the fish. Such a shame as we really liked the pub.

Have visited the countryman for the third time this year, yesterday being the first carvery. Had a table booked for 12.30 thinking there would be plenty of meat & veg, the meats were indeed cooked lovely, roast potato’s were really good too, however the carrots didn’t look inviting, green beans & cabbage also, the cauliflower cheese was very disappointing very dry no sauce & barely any cheese, gravy running low & not very hot & no stuffing offered! This was such a shame as was so looking forward to the meal, staff couldn’t fault almost over friendly, venue lovely too. I’m not one to complain or put bad reviews but think you should be aware as it’s not cheap to eat out these days & I unfortunately won’t be rushing back for a carvery again.

After several enjoyable visits for breakfast, lunch and Sunday roasts, our Saturday evening on the 16th August was a bitter disappointment. My brother and partner, who is a retired chef were staying with us we thought it would be a safe place to take them as the food had always been good. We arrived at 6.50 for our 7pm booking, by 7.10 we had a nice bootle of wine and had ordered our food, at approx 8.05 were told our food would be approx 5 mins, there had been a couple of apologies during this period and were told they were very busy, finally at 8.50 our food arrived, after I had complained, we were offered and excepted a free drink for our meals being delayed for so long, great thank you! The only drink to arrive was a bottle of tap water and 4 glasses!! Two meals were good, my lasagne and brothers mac and cheese were pathetic, they were only big enough for a starter and the extra £2.50 for chiabata garlic bread, adding to the insult it was half of a bread roll with a drizzle of garlic butter in the middle then cut in half. I'd had enough l went to the bar to complain and pay, to be told they were very busy and the portions were set by their parent company and nothing that they could do about it, so no recompense and no apologie only the excuse that they were very busy, which seemed strange as we had changed tables because of a very noisy table next to us and a good third of the tables were empty!! Our ex chef said there must be a serious problem in the kitchen as that could be the only way for such serious delays to happen! So thank you for nothing, if you can't be honest with your customers you don't deserve my business.

Myself and my partner both had the medium sized carvery, we had both been recommended to go. To be honest the only saving grace was our very jovial and attentive waiter named Conner, we will however not be revisting the food was poor to say the least the young man serving was completely dismissive and couldn't have cut the joints thinner if he'd tried!! The amount given was extremely miserly and his comments throught his service to us were not appreciated at all!!.

PLEASE READ, ALTHOUGH LONG ….. I have been to this public house many times in the past, but not under this management. On Friday 27th February, I arrived at the pub with two friends from Bournemouth, and we were meeting two members of my family from Weymouth. I arrived at 10am, with my party and my cousin arrived approximately 45 minutes later. The pub was completely empty except for two people playing snooker/pool and a gentleman sat at the bar. We ordered hot drinks and waited for my family to arrive. A young man brought our drinks over, not overly pleasant, just put the drinks on the table and we had to sort it all ourselves! Also whilst ordering our drinks at the bar, we picked ip several menus for lunch. The young man who delivered our drinks would have seen these menus on the table ! It got to approximately 11.40am and my aunty went to ask how much the carvery was as it wasn’t on the menu, she was then told by a man that we could not order food at all because they were completely booked for lunch! She came back to our table, which was in the bar area and not in the dining area, and told us! We were confused, there was nothing on any of the tables to say they were reserved, we had not been told at any point that the whole pub was booked for lunch! So I went up to the bar, spoke to a very nice young woman, explained we were confused as to why we couldn’t order food ! She asked how big our party was and asked me to wait while she checked. A man walked up to her and was throwing his arms around! He turned and walked towards me, I said we are confused, there’s no indication that the tables were reserved , he said” we don’t have to do that, pubs don’t generally do that anymore! “ I disagreed with him and said that his statement was untrue, and this wasn’t the case! I then said to him that the young man had seen our menus, we had been sat there for over an hour at this table and no one said anything to us! . He then replied “ we wait for breakfast to be over( which is 10.30am) then we set up for lunch and gradually work our way through the pub” we of course were sat at the far end in the bar area, so I said to him, so you would approach our table at some point and just ask us to leave? His reply was a simple” YES” I could not believe this, I was completely confused!! I did raise my voice to him, and he asked me to leave, which I replied no, and he should call the police! I was obviously going leave anyway !!! He followed myself and my group to the door, and I said what a disgrace I thought their practice was and how ridiculous, he was obnoxious and was obviously speaking down to us” I have 3 pubs, blah blah blah” He then said to me” I would like to meet you outside of here”!!! I was shocked! I asked if he was threatening me, he did not reply! He had previously said that people always book a table nowadays, and that we should have done that. I can understand in a dining area, but not necessarily in a bar area! I will never ever advise anyone to put any money in the till of this man’s venue , he was rude and dismissive, presumably because on this day he did not need our business!! If he or any of his staff had approached us at any time and explained the situation, it would have been fine, but he intended to set the table under us and tell us to leave, it is not exceptable behaviour for a landlord , especially in these times!! I will put a picture below of the welcome board outside, stating that they are happy for people who have booked and people who have not are truly welcome ( as long as your happy to be kicked out with no notice!) An absolute horrible man, he should NOT be working in the hospitality industry!!!!!

Philip Smith

As the landlord of this establishment memorably said during our stay here, “this is not an inn it’s a pub with rooms”. Be warned this is not the country inn marketed on the website and its high room rates do not reflect the shabby dirty room I stayed in. I came here for a quiet weekend away and chose the place based on its price point and description on website. What I got for my money was a shabby room directly above the bar, which had a full on Saturday night party with thumping music until closing time making it impossible to sleep. When I went down to the bar to ask if the music could be turned down I was met by an aggressive landlord whose approach to customer service was to let me know that this was a pub and I should have read the website. He then invited me to leave but refused any refund. A robust exchange followed where he then came out from behind the bar and physically confronted me. I felt incredibly unsafe and if I could have found accommodation elsewhere I would have left immediately. Don’t believe the website take a look at my photos - You see the dirt, peeling paint and cleaning equipment that greets you in the entrance. Go stay somewhere else - really!

Such a massively disappointing and hurtful experience. My son-in-law and daughter had booked a table for myself and husband for the Sunday roast. We recommended this place to them both and highly rated the roast. With regards to the meal I can not fault and you won’t be disappointed. BUT with regards to the senior waitress collecting our plates our whole experience shattered into tiny pieces.Somehow she felt it necessary to be outright rude to my son-in-law stating didn’t he like his Yorkshire..his reply was he couldn’t manage it..her reply was offensive and totally unprofessional saying well you don’t look like you couldn’t manage it! This totally shattered his self confidence with his weight loss journey. Needless to say we paid the bill instantly and left.
