A Slice of Heaven

We have driven past this place for years but decided to stop today, great food!! We had a Ruben with oosing yummy melted cheese, a MonteChristo that was to die for, and an awesome Bronco Burger cooked to perfection!! You can't forget to try their German Potato salad that everyone was raving about, it was very good!! Grab a slice of heaven in Dorris! Headin home from our March 2016 QUILTAPALOOZA!!

I don’t normally give a review, but this place deserves one, Happened to google Dorris the last time we came through and noticed A Slice of Heaven and thought, “what is that”? Have been driving a truck through this town off & on for 5 yrs and never noticed it. Anyway, looked at the pics and reviews and decided gotta try this place. Decided to try their hamburger with the bleu cheese. They made it with a bagel. First bite and I was mmm-mmm’ing. Someone mentioned their fries in a review and I thought “who the hell talks about fries”? So I had them. Really good; crispy outside, soft inside. Had their soup of the day, cream of mushroom. Excellent. And, of course, their german potato salad others raved about. They were right; a must try. This place is a gem. If you’re passing through, give yourself a treat!!

Not only is the food amazing. But the atmosphere is very welcoming. The owners cook the food for you, instead of hiring someone else to do it. Talk to you while they cook your food and really make you feel welcomed. So the name of the place is accurate. And even though i was the last person in line i still got my food in a timely manner. Anytime i am in Doris i will be stopping there.

a town of 1000 does not have a lot of choices, we were riding through and thought, what the hell. OMG what wonder find. Small place, all homemade, to gotta get the German Potato Salad. They Strawberry shake required a spoon, not because it was so thick, but because of all of the large cut strawberries in it. Slow down, look at the history of this town, and enjoy a shake. You will see the town coming, the Deli is across the street from the 200' flagpole!

Good food, worth the stop. Too bad the Breakfast Menu will be discontinued eventually (they're wanting a change of pace) but they will keep a Breakfast sandwich & burrito on the menu. Until then, I highly recommend the stuffed French Toast paired with savory sides.

The food is ok. Over priced in my opinion. They do not take covid seriously. I have never seen a mask worn there. And it's owned by the Mayor/ Firechief. Enter at your own risk!
