Koja Kitchen offers Korean-Japanese fusion with a focus on rice-based dishes. Many enjoy the unique 'Koja' burger with crispy rice buns and flavorful meats. Some find the service inconsistent and portion sizes reduced, especially compared to other locations or the original food truck.

KoJa is so tasty... If you like burgers and rice, you can't go wrong with the Original KoJa. With the crispy rice bun and tender meat, I didn't even need fries. It was sad to see only a few inside vendors open at Public Market, but the places that are still open are not skimping on quality. Hoping that KoJa makes it through the slow times and will visit next time I'm on Powell Street to support their Emeryville location! Pros: fresh and delicious, perfect solution if you're indecisive about getting Asian food or a burger Cons: sometimes a bit of a wait for food
$15 for my lunch including a drink. In the future, i would probably get the fries. The sandwich had plenty of pork meat
Good Quality-Price-Ratio for a very quick service. More Korean than Japanese food but the result is tasty and diverse.
Love this short rib bowl with avocado. Meat is super juicy and perfectly seasoned. I can eat it everyday, must try!!

I recently dined at Koja Kitchen in Emeryville, and it was an incredible experience! The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal or a special occasion. The menu is diverse, featuring delicious Korean-inspired dishes that are bursting with flavor. I highly recommend trying their signature Koja burgers; they are unique and absolutely mouthwatering! The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was top-notch. Overall, Koja Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy fantastic food in a welcoming environment!
Decent, reasonably priced, Korean-Japanese fusion food. There are two kiosks for ordering here and also a register for cash or if you need help. It took less than ten minutes for my order to be ready. I had the short rib rice bowl and ordered it with sauce on the side and no kimchi. They followed my modifications. However, even with the sauce on the side, the short rib tasted a bit too salty. The rice was fine and I didn't like the salad. I've had a better short rib bowl from a different Koja Kitchen location. Overall, the food here isn't bad, but I recommend looking around the Public Market before deciding on this.
Love the Impossible Koja burger. Food is ordered through koisk, workers do not tend to aknowledge you. They often don't open on time and I've had a couple rude interactions, so took off stars for that alone. Food is ready quickly.
Very interesting take on sandwiches! Rice cake 'buns' replacing bread, and tasty meat with good sauce inside! Slightly pricier than most sandwiches / burgers, but worth a try if you haven't had it before!
The wings were pretty good, but i expected more with the rice burger I got. It seems like the rice patty was overcooked.

So mad how do you not have the shame menu items as the Berkeley branch? Never going to come to this Koja ever again, Berkeley is the only one I'm going to go to from now on if I want Koja. They don't offer Beef Koja but the offer Beef on the Kamkazi fries¿ what? Husband used the kiosk to order, looking up the menu doesn't help, people seem to post images and menu for the other Koja in Berkeley. Due to this confusion hubby and I argued what they offered here. He was right they don't have the Beef Koja. Will not be coming back but will come back to try other spots here.
Too much arugula!!!! Just way too much arugula. Really hard to eat the burger. The whole thing tastes like arugula. THIS IS AFTER EATING HALF OF THE ARUGULA. Should call it ARUGULA SALAD. The fries is really good. The rice burger is good.

I always came here to get the tuna salad. Today I was disappointed because they cut down on the portions I got less crab less veggies but tons more lettuce. I understand prices are high but you can’t cut down or just simply take away item from a dish but the prices are still the same.
Since they got rid of cashiers and went to kiosk only, it's become too big a PITA to eat here. Last time I was there, they refused to take my order without taking my cell phone number. Sorry, I noped out of there after that privacy violation.

I really wanted to like KoJa Kitchen, but I just can’t give it a great review. Here’s why: First off, the menu is super appealing—lots of tasty-sounding options. Ordering at the kiosk was a little slow, but since we were the first ones there, it wasn’t a big deal. We got the braised pork bowl, the short rib koja (because seriously, when do short ribs ever disappoint?), and the soy fried chicken wings. But it took 25 minutes for our food to come out, and no one else was waiting. There were three people working, so I’m not sure why it took that long. At least the seating area is pretty nice with good vibes. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the hype. The wings were hot, so they seemed freshly cooked, but the short rib and braised pork were just scooped out of a big container without even being warmed up. I know because I watched them make it. Plus, everything was drenched in sauce—not really my style. The wings were decent, though. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside… but again, smothered in super sticky, sweet sauce. For the wait time and the price, I definitely expected better. 🤷♂️
It's so sad they don't serve food like their original food truck. Ordered their famous kamikaze fries and it was half the portion it used to be.. and the patty pieces were cold. Like they had been defrosted or microwaved.
I don’t know if they are a chain or have multiple locations… whatever they are now it’s a far cry from where they were when they launched: this location had a crispy chicken special - where if you’re going to use a photo of the dish to help sell it then at least make it look like the picture: breading was burnt/ black (see pic: better suited as a creole blackened chicken) pickles limp and greens wilted. The picture screamed of a golden crispy crusted protein- it’s size across the length of your dish with a drizzling of a creamy umami sauce. Fail. Then the beef Koja: rice patty tasted like it was at least 2days old, the beef cuts chewy and everything screamed of sirracha sauce. It was dull, disappointing and a let down. I miss the Koja kitchen of old. But maybe it’s just me and my old taste buds.

Alright I get why this place has so many low star reviews now!! I used to come here all the time when I worked in emeryville. It was one of my go-to’s. I know public market is a bit of a ghost town these days but holy cow that doesn’t mean you staff it with such rude people. It took like 20 minutes for my food to come out. And it was not nearly as good as it used to be but it was fine. That’s why this is 2 stars. Just shut this place down if it’s going to be this bad for service and quality.
Got the short rib bowl, and the meat quality was poor. So many fatty bites that I didn’t eat the majority of the beef. The few bites of meat that weren’t too fatty were pretty tasty though. The rest of the ingredients in the bowl were pretty good.

Teriyaki sauce is syrup sweet. Rice was overly soft - jasmine rice is supposed to be fluffy with grains separate from each other but theirs became sticky goop. The ingredients given were different from that of the menu description. Could not finish after a few bites because of the sweet syrup sauce. Ugh!
What. Rip off for cheap teeny fried tofu bowl. I didn’t realize tofu was fried. For $11+. Plus taste was so mediocre. High regret wasting my hard earned $. Don’t recommend for vegetarians. At least I learned my lesson 😂

I wanted to buy a drink and the worker told me that they were not taking cash orders. I just wanted a drink. I come here OFTEN and I USED to enjoy the food but never again. I am only a valued customer if I pay with a card. Awful JUST AWFUL.
