Farlow's on The Water

What a lovely spot! We ate outside under the canopy where they had a fellow playing guitar. Golden oldies but it created a nice ambient atmosphere. Our server was lovely despite my English accent asking for a Buddha IPA and of course it sounded like Butter to her! 😁 She was so sweet trying to decipher it!! On to the food, gosh it was lovely! We started with the barbados mussels then I had the scallops. With were delicious but quite rich so come hungry! Or take it home like we did! Dinner sorted for tonight!! 🤣 Highly recommended!

We made a 4:30 reservation for inside and I asked to be near a window. She took us right beside the window overlooking the outside area. Our server was friendly and did a wonderful job. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Everything from the appetizers to the dinner was delicious. We had conch fritters and the crab stuffed mushroom. For dinner I had the macadamia encrusted chicken and my husband had a special, the golden tile fish. It was my husband's birthday and it couldn't have gone better. Yes, they are expensive. But everything was exquisite and I greatly appreciate the wonderful experience.

Tonight we went to Farlow’s on the Water for my early birthday dinner, and it was truly a wonderful evening. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delicious, and it made for such a special night. There was a small hiccup during our visit, but honestly, the main reason I’m writing this review is because of the exceptional customer service that followed. Patrick stopped by our table after the mix-up and completely turned the situation around. He was kind, professional, and handled everything with such calm confidence and a genuine smile. He made us feel valued and taken care of, and you could tell he truly cared about our experience. It’s easy for things to go perfectly, but what really stands out is how a team responds when something doesn’t—and Patrick handled it beautifully. Because of him, our night remained special and memorable. Thank you to Patrick and the entire team at Farlow’s on the Water for making my early birthday celebration so enjoyable. We truly appreciate the care and professionalism, and we look forward to visiting again the next time we’re back!

I’d give this restaurant more than 5 stars if I could. The menu is huge compared to other restaurants in the area, it was hard to pick a meal cause they all sounded delicious and unique. Everything my husband, daughter and I ordered was the best food we have had since moving to Florida 6 months ago. We sat outside and the views were beautiful along with live music, really set the perfect atmosphere. The service though? TOP TIER! We went on a Friday night at dinner time and they were quite busy, but our server Glen was amazing and attentive! He was pleasant and easy to talk to and ask questions, very informative and efficient. We did not wait long for drinks or food at all! Plus we were also greeted by a manager twice to check if our meals were up to par. Literally have not seen service like this in awhile and the mouth watering food was just a plus. We can’t wait to go back here and try something new!

Amazing food...fish was very fresh and delicious! I had the Caribbean delight combo, then we had the puff pastry blackened grouper and the golden tile fish! All were excellent! Great atmosphere sitting by the water and live music..truly a great place to eat. 4 stars because it was very expensive.

Love the local fresh fish options that Farlows has to offer. We had the Tuna Nacho to start, good, but I do wish they cut the tuna into smaller pieces instead of strips. It made it messy to eat. The Grouper Cheeks were good, but I didn't think they would be deep-fried. Good, but not as expected. The St. Croix items were very good!! Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and popular spot for locals and visitors. Reservations are highly recommended.

Overall high ratings led us here for lunch, but we definitely did not have a top rated experience. Right from the beginning, the name waterfront is true but not observable for the majority of diners, even if you’re seated outside. We asked for water with lemon, which tasted like it was dipped straight from a swimming pool, high chlorine levels. The server said other people also don’t like the water and offered bottled instead. Then we ordered our food. While waiting, I watched one server dump half a drink on herself, set it up on her tray, put the fruit back in, and serve it her table with 2 inches of drink gone. She also dumped an entire glass of water on a patron at the same table. No manager ever appeared, even after a glass broke and a lady sat drenched in water. Our salad was fine, but the vinaigrette was more of a French dressing with onion. It has crushed walnuts but shredded cheese definitely from a bag. The dinner rolls were fresh and delicious. Main dish 1 was coconut shrimp with coconut corn risotto. Shrimp and strawberry coconut dip were very good, but the risotto has no corn in it and tasted more like coconut rice pudding, very sweet. Main dish 2 was fish tacos. The fish tacos were good but my husband substituted mashed potatoes for rice which was a disappointment. They had an odd sweet flavor in it that my husband thought tasted soapy. We seem to be the odd ones out because the place was packed, but we won’t be back.

Waited a long time for server to come to our table. Our server seemed awkward and inexperienced. Ordered conch fritters, they were not very good. Side salads were small but very good, bread and creamy butter were delicious (best part of the meal!) My entree was Shrimp & Grits which I get whenever I see it on any menu. I was blown away at the tiny portion! It was tasty but there was literally 4 small shrimp for $31. For all the raves I hear about this place I expected better given the prices. Not very excited to return here.

We usually have a great experience at Farlow's, but today was not one of them. We had family in town, so wanted to go somewhere nice-ish. No wait for a table. It was 2:15 when we placed our order. Not busy, and we waited for an hour, and when the food came out, it was gross. Chicken sandwich - bun was hard and cracked upon touch, chicken was luke-warm, coating on chicken was burnt and now soggy, as well at the lettuce. Cole slaw and pickle were warm. Reuben - meat was crusty on the edges and cole slaw was warm. Mind you, was already a bit upset it was an hour, but if it was hot and fresh, I would have no complaints. We were there so long, watched trays and trays of food come out. People come and go. Then watched as they started to set up for dinner service. ugh. The manager type person walked by at least 20 times with no conern, but she did come out and try to argue ticket time... Then offered a small discount. Which, I guess is better than nothing. Would have rather let her had a bite of my sandwich and let her try to explain the quality experience, lol Just led to a dissapointing late lunch.

Have been two times now and will not be back. The atmosphere is about the only thing desirable at this establishment. They did a wonderful job with the landscaping, shielding it from a very busy road. Also worth noting, if you’re looking for views of the water, look elsewhere. The water is not visible from most of the dining area. Service the first time was almost non existent. The lady was grumpy when she did come around and mentioned she’d been serving for 20+ years. (It shows). She disappeared for so long that we thought she had quit. The second time, service was hardly better. (From a different server). Both times, the food has been mediocre at best, and laughable portion sizes, especially for the price. The second time I was severely sick shortly after arriving home (20min drive). I’m blown away this place has such a high rating, but it also appears a lot of those higher ratings are older.
