It's awesome how something as simple as fish fry can impress you! The service is really quick and the food excellent (always ask for the sauces on the side, they add quite a charm to the dishes). The dinner options are more than enough to make you full. These guys deserve all the praise that they get.

Excellent at what they do. Food tastes good, staff is top notch. Set your expectations for local fast food, and Ted's will pass the test with top honors. From a customer's perspective, this appears to be a family business that multiple generations have taken pride in operating as well as any national chain.

I'll be straight up with you, if you enjoy fish Fry's, clam roles, or anything that would please your taste buds at a typical fish fry joint. Well you should definitely stop by Teds Fish fry. They do have more then 1 location and you'll always get friendly service and top notch food. It may not be the best you've ever had but it WILL rank in your top 5 places!! Enjoy!

I tried to order online but it required me to sign up and that just didn't work, so I just went in to place an order. Bit of a line but it moved fast. They ended up not getting my order right but immediately fixed it, I was out of there quickly. Tasty fish and sauces, good fries. I'm kind of amazed, this place is great 👍

Loved the place. The fish and chips was really good. I think its the best fish and chips i had and it will cost you 11 dollar only. The amount given is more than enough for one person. The place is a bit small and may be suitable for family and small gatherings.

DEFINITELY the BEST Ted's Fish Fry place in the area! Went there around dinner time.....long line, but do they know how to work it! Ordered my food, guy yells out the order, great staff fills it....I move 4 feet up to pay for it (cashier already knows my order), and there is all my food, piping hot, ready for me! Unbelievable FANTASTIC experience! It must have been HOT that day behind the stoves....did they complain? NOPE! Just did their job and provided GREAT customer service! Next time I come in, I'm bringing a case of water for them, they deserve it. GREAT JOB GUYS and GIRLS! Everyone should run a business like this!

I don’t like seafood but my bf does and he brought me here cuz I wanted chicken fingers. He got the fish special and I got chicken finger basket and everything was delish and huge portions! Def recommend. They have been around for like 60 years and it shows!

Fresh fish, seafood, chicken, burgers and hot dogs. The Pound Fish on Friday is my favorite! Over all very consist food from this restaurant. Easy "In" to the parking lot heading East on Rt. 7. Heading West on Rt. 7 can be a bit of a challenge. There is parking in the rear if it's busy. The dining area is clean and bright.

Fast food without the arches... We often stop here on our travels through the Troy area. If you are looking for healthy foods, this is not the place to stop. But if you want a better alternative to the other fast food restaurants this fits the bill. Very good fish sandwiches, chicken, and other sandwiches. They have a very extensive menu, and it is prepared pretty darn quick.

We love this place. There food is great. There service is in the top 5 and they get you your food fast and we never have issues with it being wrong. You know like them employees at some fast food chains that want $15 an hour but can't make a plan cheeseburger right. Lmfao. Keep up the good work guys.

Simple plate of chicken tenders, fries and slaw. Excellent food. Smooth running machine for taking orders. Atmosphere is simple but gives confidence. Honey mustard dressing for the tenders had a horseradish bit, which was a nice touch.

Well all kids fish fries have the same menu, the cooks in the kitchen are not the same. This Ted's Fish Fry, located on route 7 West, up by Price chopper plaza off of Hoosick, is the best in the Tri-City area! They have a picnic area out back if you prefer to eat outside. Try it, you'll love it!

Came in at lunch it was busy but the line moves fast and pretty efficiently. The woman takes the order gives the cooks and in just a few short minutes hot fresh crispy fish and fries are served up. Decent price also. The portions were perfect for lunch. Not too big not too small. There's only 1 minor thing I observed while waiting is as people are getting their orders while a larger order is being completed your food change ext is handed over their meal. While it does not bother me it may someone else. But still 5 star all the way and when im back in the area I'll be sure to come again. Thank you for a perfect lunch

Love Ted's! It was my mother's favorite may she rest in peace, so we go to have fish fry for her. Lacey at the troy location is our favorite from the staff! She's always so happy and enthusiastic, which gives that restaurant a home like feel for our family. Highly recommend!

A long time favorite fish fry place of mine. Fish is always fresh and made to order. Never found anyone even remotely close to the same quality and flavor. Excellent prices as well! This location specifically offers great off street parking with to go ordering and a nice dine in seating if so desired. Fast service to cap it off.

Ted's has the best melt in your mouth fish! I got two fish sandwiches that were freshly made to order and done in a short time. Perfect crispy outside with moist white flakey fish inside! Came with both tartar and cocktail sauce and both were yummy. I had errands to run so I didnt stay, but there were people eating in the table area and it looked clean. The young man who cashed me out was polite.

I went in just to get a gift card on Sat. the 6th and I left got in my car and remembered the smell of food was great so I called my friend and went back in and got 1 lunch special which you can get any time it's not for lunch and a fish fry. I took it to my friends house and everything was delicious their coleslaw is one of the best and I'm very picky, because some are too vinagry and theirs isn't. They also give you plenty of fries it's enough for 2 people. You definitely get your money's worth. I love Ted's fish it's the best place. The service is always great and everybody is very friendly that work there. It's too bad the one located on 2nd Ave closed that was right around the corner from my friends and the one on Hoosick is too far and not convenient for all those in that area. The food & service was great.

I've never eaten at any Ted's Fish Fry where the food has been anything but amazing!! I got the lunch special with french fries and cole slaw, and my daughter had the same lunch special, but substituted her fries with their delicious onion rings. We did that so we could share, as both their fries and rings are equally delicious. It was lunchtime, but there was no wait. The staff is very friendly, and everyone does their jobs well. This place runs like a well-oiled machine and is one of the reasons why I'll never move out of the capital district!! Yummmmmy!!!

By far the best fried fish that I have ever had. It falls apart in your mouth and the tartar sauce is decent for the portion. Speaking of portions, the are HUGE, but awesome. Thanks again Teds and I’ll see you soon!

We always stop at Teds on the way through Troy. Always consistent, friendly old fashioned service. If I may reply to another review. No way you are being discriminated against because of the color of your skin. Absolutely ridiculous. Did you ever stop to think it's you and not racism? Ted's Fish Fry is a true throw back to a simpler time. I'm not sure that anything has changed about Ted's in more than 40 years. The fish is still fresh; breaded and fried to order and golden brown perfection. The onion rings take me back to a time when I didn't have to worry about cholesterol or sodium. All in all, Ted's is a trip back to my teens, and I love every single visit!

Excellent fish fry, quick and tasty. I don't get there often so I enjoy it when I do. In general though, great fast food that's not a burger. Staff was pleasant yet busy. I recommend to all who have never been, those who have don't need it. You either live the place or hate it. Most likely the former.

Driving back and forth drove past this place several times finally decided to take the plunge and stop. The minute you walked in, could see it was an iconic place. Like everything else now, it wasn't inexpensive, but it was tasty. Cannot wait to bring my spouse back on the next trip.

These people don't mess around. There was a young man who politely took my order as soon as I walked in. They cooked it up, served it up and took my payment without a fuss. The kitchen looks clean, the dining area is clean. Even the parking lot is clean. The trash is not overflowing. The only thing I didn't like was how loud the music was in the dining area. Every time I go there (which is rare because I live in Maryland), I am satisfied.

I went here with someone very special, and we were able to sit and talk and have conversation it was amazing, peaceful

Shocked the Troy location is the only Ted's open on Sundays!? Definitely worth the trip from Latham! We got there at 5 and the place filled up with people while we were in line but we got our food quickly. There were 6 of us and we ordered quite a bit of food, it was SO GOOD! Fish frys, shrimp dinners, loaded mini-dogs, fries, onion rings, all delicious! They have picnic tables out back that are in the shade in the afternoon too! Really nice spot to eat.

Who doesnt love a fish fry from teds!! Always consistent, the staff is always friendly. I've never had to complain about .y order.. I would like to see more customers move out the line once they have ordered their food so others can order and move the line..other than that I love teds

Swift and efficient, the counter service was. Hot and fresh, the food arrived, as if guided by the Force itself. Upon the walls, many awards there were, proclaiming this establishment the best in their quadrant. Deserved, such recognition is. Understand why, I do. Seating, only booths they offer. A mix of tables and booths, perhaps a wiser path it would be. Yet, a disturbance in my dining experience, this was not. Great value, this place provides. Prices, most reasonable they are. A phenomenal fish fry, this outpost delivers. Return, I shall. Recommend it, I do.

Ted's Fish Fry has become quite popular as we keep hearing from others. Our son took us there as he too likes this place. We ordered their Fish Fry and Fish N Chips. Both were fresh and soft inside with a crispiness outside. The taste was indeed good. Their tartare sauce is good. The coleslaw is great. Place is decent and medium-sized. Chairs and tables are comfortable. Service is straight from the counter but the guys are attentive. Great place to go with family. Parking available easily.

I've been coming here for over 50 years. It's still good and each time it brings back good memories. The straws for the shakes need to be much larger since the shake is so thick. Don't like fish? Get a burger or hot dog! But always get onion rings.

This place is a true American classic. Virtuosic Americana in the birth place of uncle sam. This is what fast food was, could and should be. Fresh, fast (but not too fast), affordable and utterly delicious. Everything made to order. the fish was flakey and tender fried perfectly. The clam chowder was briney and decadent and at the same time wholesome and comforting. Anytime I’m in the area I will gladly go out of my way to come here. I hope this place never changes.

Calimari had a big clump piece, but no big deal, it could be separated. Family combo had 1 piece bread, that felt out of place but the entire meal was still good.

It was a delicious throwback to when restaurants simply served fresh, delicious food at a reasonable price. Seriously, the fried cod was some of the freshest I've ever had. Brought in fresh everyday! Been going here since I was a kid. I do love their fish fries and coffee shakes. Fries are made there and are decent. Haven't found much else to bring me here but people do order the cheeseburgers a lot.

The food is consistently delicious, & the staff is super friendly, but I think the prices are a bit high. To be fair, I think that's the case at just about every takeout joint these days, given post-covid era inflation.

Ted's is a local favorite for fried fish with a few locations in the area. When I stop I usually have one or two pieces of fried fish and it's always good as you expect. I can't say it's better then any other fish frying place but it's consistently good.

The food & service are excellent. I always get clam strips or fish - the oil is kept exceptionally clean which makes the flavor of the seafood come out.

If you haven't had a fish fry recently this is the best option around! Milkshakes and onion rings also make a great side dish. The food is all made to order, the staff is efficient and the atmosphere is relaxed.

I had a fish and chips and a fish fry. Service was quick and friendly, the fish was good, the chips were good and the fish fry was interesting. It was simple and tasty. The dining area got the job done but the food was what made it. Pricing was moderate but I'd definitely go back!

Usually great, fresh cheap fried food. But the fish in my roll was falling apart and breading totally off. As I've eaten here numerous times, not too concerned about this one off...and the o rings were very good.

Very low key cafeteria style fish fry place. We had the fried flounder and shrimp. The fish was REALLY fresh and delicious. The shrimp was really great as well. We will come back another time. Great food if you like fried fish.

Saw this place on their way back to Rochester. We ordered the fish fry dinner and the crabcakes. Never seen a fish fry this shape so it was interesting. It’s smaller than what I’m used to but it’s made fresh. The crabcakes were the highlight (not pictured) they were large in portion and delicious. It wasn’t busy when we dropped by.

Second time eating here for lunch. Fast service, nice workers and the food was both hot and good. Solid four star eatery for this type of food. The first time I was here I tried the mini hot dogs with the meat sauce and they were damn good. Tried the fish fry and fries and I would recommend them if you are in the mood for such fare. Place could be cleaner is my only true gripe.

We love Ted's Fish Fry. Pls understand we always go to Watervliet one often. On way home we had the worst ever. We ate in our car our fries were very hot but not our fish. Our drinks had no color to them and horrible taste. Hubby brought them back tried different flavor all watered down. I ate my fish as I didn't want to wait another 1/2 hr. Pls go to different one. Young people were over worked but pleasant. Very large orders ahead of us as our fish sat on counter. Dined in car.

You go here for food, not atmosphere, it has none! The menu might not have any items that the kitchen doesn't cook fabulously, everyone's food was perfect. My fish tacos were great, a good buy, discounted 1 day a week. (Tuesday I think)

I went here to pick up food after work. I placed my order online which was great. The food is good. When i walked into the place there were only workers because it was close to closing time. Two of the workers were laughing and joking around. It almost seemed like they were making fun of me or my order I'm not sure because I couldn't hear too much. I'm all for having a good fun environment but when there's customers that should stop. And for take out orders Styrofoam trays would work so much better than paper plates.

I love Ted’s. Always have. But this one, the portions are way over priced for what you get. Slowly declining with each visit. And if you want your to go order wrong they’re going to do it for you. I would mind too much but for the prices, they shouldn’t get it wrong as much.

You know what you are getting. Middle of the road food served quick and fresh. Not great not terrible. Staff is super friendly though and props to ownership to staffing well. It isn't a situation where two people are trying to feed an entire restaurant.

Being from out of town my first time there the food was great. So I thought I'd go again this time. I had fried clams. They were hard as if they sat for a long period of time, I thought I was going to break a tooth. Either the grease was burnt or they there over fried. Either way I know next time I'm in town not to go there.

Last two times I ordered the small dogs, the rolls were so stale I couldn’t eat them

We frequent the other Ted's locations but first time at this one. Hot dog buns were a bit stale, fish was good. They forgot a couple things on our order but straightened it out.

I've been disappointed the past couple of times that I ate at the Hoosick St. location. The fish fry and onion rings were over fried, dark and too crunchy. I don't think I'll be going back there. The Watervliet location is much better.

I mean, the fish fry here was just so bad compared to others I’ve had. It was slimy and thick and kind of fishy and smelled fishy and had like a mushy breading. I guess it was washing on the inside not very crisp a little bit crisp on the outside maybe The tartar sauce was way too sweet and the fries were undercooked and rubbery. I would go to any local restaurant/bar that offers fried fish or if you want the best fried fish around you can go to Lil’ Britton in Bennington.

I wanted to like it since it’s so popular but the food is just not great… like most other places in the capital region. Super mediocre fried fish, quality fish but bland batter. Onion rings felt unhealthy to eat, oily and overcooked. “Chili sauce” is just ketchup and relish I think. Fries were literally green… undercooked.

Hi I’ve been coming to Ted’s my entire life just went to Brunswick location an hour ago. Staff appeared a little disorganized as you all usually run a tight ship (meaning sometimes I worry I’m not fast enough and loud enough when I order. Lol. Food was very mediocre. Fish was overcooked and dry and rings were way undercooked and had to ask if my food was ready after a longer wait than usual with only 4 people ahead of me. Thought I would share right away so Ted’s can fix it. Hopefully I get to remain a loyal customer.

Got dinner at this location tonight. Fries not well done and this is not the first time. Was almost like they were undercooked in old oil. Forgot the side of cheese. Cashier needed help bagging things and when another staff person helped bag, part of our fish fell on the floor and they had to make another one. Tartar sauce was awful. I ended up throwing my fries and fish away.....could actually see the skin on my fish.....if it is always there, at least you cannot see it. Only thing that was good was the burger. This is my third time going here and still no good. Three strikes and you are out. Sorry Ted's......it was a great ride but no more unless things change. This is not the Ted's I am used to and grew to love.

Not a great experience. Prices went up and the food was dripping with grease. Perhaps they need a manager overseeing what is going on. The Clifton Park Ted's runs like a well oiled machine. They are consistently good! I would seriously go to another Ted's and totally avoid the Hoosick street location.....it sucks!

Second time at this location in 2months. Both times my order was not right. Ask for a hot dog with just ketchup and I get it with I think chili sauce and mustard. Nasty. At like 3 bucks a hot dog they should get the order right. Never had problems here until recently and I've been a customer all my life I am 45 now. I will not go back. Totally sucks now.

This was the most disgusting place I have ever eaten at! My girlfriend and I went here for dinner and we threw most of our food away. She ordered fried scallops which were $12.10 and she got four soggy and leathery scallops with a hot dog bun on the side. We ordered a large cheese fry to share which was $4.80 I believe and the fries were absolutely disgusting they must be fried in peanut oil or something because They tasted like they came from a can of cheap peanuts. We are about three fries and threw them out. I got a fish fry which was cold and bland. On a hot dog roll that was half the size of the fish. We got two drinks mine was piss warm even though it came right from the fridge. And finally we got a pint of New England clam chowder that was thicker than molasses in January. Our total came to $34 and change. We were not offered a receipt so I cannot tell you the exact price but it was awful. Then to top it off the women’s bathroom was out of soup. I 100% would not recommend this place to anyone I’m not sure how this place is even still in business. Oh and by the way I tried asking for ketchup and was left standing for 5 minutes saying “excuse me” to the women who rang us out playing on her phone three feet away until the cook who was in the middle of making something asked me how she could help. Should’ve known it wouldn’t be worth it when the place was empty. Now we know for next time I guess.

I ordered lunch special to go. I Specifically said that I wanted the tartar sauce On the fish. Came back home to my horror found the fish fry completely bare, no tartar sauce, not even on the side. Had to settle for mayo from my fridge to make it palatable. Fries were cold and tasted like they had been sitting for sometime. I went out in the rain to get this. Im a regular at Teds but was highly disappointed this time around.

My mother got the Haddock Fish 2 days ago and onion rings through Door Dash, it gave her food poisoning. She's just now, 2 days later, starting to hold dry toast down. :( Will never order from this Ted's again!

Gross - I was there today at noon and the guy running the counter was wearing gym shorts and constantly scratching the back of his leg then taking the prepared food from the cooks and handing it to the customers . I will come back when this guy is gone or has been properly trained. But the fish was good.

Ted’s fish fish is def not what it used to be. I got the New England clam chowder which was so thick I could cut it. You want good New England clam chowder go to Price chopper fresh soups I also got 4 mini dogs with everything, the chili was so black and dry. Onion rings were grease soaked I could wring them out. Very disappointed
