The views are incredible. The atmosphere is awesome. We had the T-bone cooked medium. I liked that the slices complimented the meat rather than overpowering it. I also noticed there was no steak sauce on the tables...as it should be. A $50 steak shouldn't need sauce to make it palatable. And the steak didn't need anything. We also got the 8 piece shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were huge and the cocktail sauce was very tasty. A nice horseradish flavor without the heat. We can't wait to eat there again.
The food was outstanding! This place truly lives up to its lifelong reputation; for generations, it has been a favorite for family outings. Despite the restaurant being packed because of UTEP’s graduation, our server, Kate, didn’t miss a beat. She was wonderful and made our graduate's celebration truly special!
Cattleman’s Steakhouse never disappoints!!! Love coming here for celebrations or just when craving a delicious meal that will always satisfy. The atmosphere is quiet and the view is beautiful, a lot of history. Inside they also have a mini shopping center . Staff and service is great very attentive ready to serve you. Drinks are amazing especially their margaritas on the rocks they are my favorite! This place is great for anniversaries, birthday parties, family gatherings not to mention they have a lot of different animals and reptile’s to look at afterwards or before your meal outside they have a small zoo.
Cattlemans Steak House continues to be a top pick for a true Texas steak. The service, location, and of course the food, is fantastic. This place is definitely one of a kind!
must-visit in El Paso! The steak was cooked perfectly—juicy, flavorful, and worth the drive. Portions were generous, the atmosphere was classic Texas, and the staff were friendly
Cattleman’s Steakhouse is pure nostalgia with a western twist. From the moment you pull up, it feels like stepping back in time to an old ranch out on the range. The atmosphere is filled with rustic charm, western memorabilia, and a vibe that just makes you slow down and take it all in. The views outside are wide open and beautiful, adding to that authentic cowboy feel. Inside, the décor tells stories of the past, and you can’t help but feel like you’re part of a classic western movie. The whole place has an energy that’s both laid-back and incredibly cool. Highly recommend checking it out if you want great food wrapped in a one-of-a-kind experience.
Had dinner at Cattleman’s Steakhouse. honestly, everything was delicious. The steak didn’t stand a chance… this plate says it all 😂 If the meat could talk, it would’ve begged for mercy. Thank you guys!
We drive 2 hours there and 2 hours back gladly for their ribeye. Always cooked to perfection and the staff is the nicest every single time. So much to do and see on the property. If you like pina coladas then these are the best we have ever had!
Legendary West Texas Steakhouse, outside of El Paso. Long wait times, but there are plenty of attractions like the petting zoo and western museum.
Hadn't been there in years. Grew up and moved away 500+ miles away. Brought back some good memories of going out there with Dad[he's been gone over 35yrs..]mom and family going on hayride. This special event was my sister's birthday on Feb 14th. Yes it was gonna be busy for sure. We got there early and IT was absolutely smooth Not a long wait it was great.[10-15min at most] FOOD to me was just delicious as I recalled. I was in great company with sister 🥩🎂and niece her hubby and 2kids and teen. Even the youngest 1yrold ate like a little heartily to her fill. Others were celebrating birthdays as you hear the staffing sing by tableside. Had to bring back what we didn't finish, great leftovers. Great memories shared. 🤠
**4.7/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨ Cattleman’s Steakhouse El Paso: Where the West Still Wins** Out on the edge of the Franklin Mountains, **Cattleman’s Steakhouse** is a 500-acre working ranch turned Texas legend 🐄🌅. Pull up at sunset—longhorns grazing, tumbleweeds rolling, and the smell of mesquite smoke drifting from the pit. It’s like stepping onto a John Wayne movie set, but the steaks are 100% real. The **32-oz “Cowboy” ribeye** ($58) is the stuff of carnivore dreams: charred crust, pink center, juice pooling like a desert mirage 🥩🔥. Ordered medium-rare, it arrived *exactly* that—seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and smoke. Sides are classics done right: loaded baked potato the size of a football 🥔, ranch beans simmered with bacon, and cornbread so sweet it’s dessert. The **shrimp cocktail** ($14) appetizer? Jumbo Gulf prawns, zesty sauce—fresh as if the coast moved inland 🍤. Family-friendly touches abound: kids feed the petting zoo goats 🐐, and the wagon ride to the “movie set” ghost town is free with dinner 🎬. Service is cowboy-polite—our server refilled iced tea without asking and shared ranch history 🤠💧. Only quibble? It’s a 25-minute drive from downtown—worth every mile, but plan ahead 🚗. Valet is $5 or self-park free. Cocktails are stiff (try the Prickly Pear Margarita 🌵🍹). Sunset views from the patio are postcard-perfect. Cattleman’s isn’t just dinner—it’s an El Paso rite of passage. Save room for the mile-high pecan pie 🥧. I’ll be back before the next full moon.
Listen. I'm traveling for work and a nice guy at an El Paso post office told me about this place. It was absolutely one of the coolest experiences of my life even though I'm traveling alone. Food was amazing. The property was so cool. The drive to it - also amazing. Can't recommend enough.
My family has been frequenting Cattlemans for over the 30 years I can remember, and for over 45 years per my grandmother. Cattlemans is an institution. It is a place that deserves a pilgrimage if ever you are close enough to justify it. I have come here every single time I have come to El Paso to visit family, which is nearly yearly. Do yourselves a favor and make this a stop if ever given the opportunity.
Cattleman’s Steakhouse – A True Taste of the West! From the moment you walk into Cattleman’s Steakhouse, you’re transported to a rustic, Western-style oasis where hospitality meets hearty flavor. The atmosphere is warm, authentic, and perfect for a relaxing night out, whether you’re with family, friends, or on a special date. The steak? Absolutely phenomenal. Cooked to perfection, well-seasoned, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. You can tell they know their meat here — it’s high quality and handled with care. The sides were just as impressive; from the baked potatoes to the beans and fresh bread, every bite felt like comfort on a plate. Service was prompt and friendly, with staff that truly know the menu and offer great recommendations. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are more than fair for the quality and experience you get. Cattleman’s is more than just a steakhouse — it’s an experience. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is one of those spots that sticks with you. Highly recommended!
My husband and I recently moved back from Houston and my husband had never been to this establishment. It was about a 45 minute drive for us, but it was worth every minute for him! I am vegetarian so I wasn't going to eat. He ordered the steak and potato and it comes with sides, coleslaw, and beans and bread. When we walked in there was a huge party waiting and I thought we were gonna have to wait, but we were seated right away. We went on a Sunday at 12:30 and the food came pretty quickly. After eating, we toured the property and saw the cattle roping competition going on. We also looked at the petting zoo animals And visited the lake. It was a very nice getaway to experience something new. My only complaint was that the potato had dirt on it and we are those type of people that eat the peel. It probably wouldn't matter to anybody else who doesn't eat it but we asked about it and we offered a replacement. We denied the replacement because we wouldn't be able to eat it, but they nonetheless brought one. I ate a bit of my husband's sides and they generously offered to bring more but what they serve for just him is enough for two people.
A prominent steak house situated in the middle of nowhere. The cowboy steak was tender, juicy and expertly cooked to order at medium well. Following lunch, we embarked on the wagon trail ride to a movie set amidst the desert landscape. Their steak price was very reasonable. Our server is very attentive and friendly. Definitely recommended to go here once
Awesome experience , the service was excellent and the food was absolutely amazing. Plenty of history and artifacts on display made the experience even better. I will definitely be revisiting this place.
The location is unique and full of historical charm, which adds a lot to the overall experience. While the food was decent, the steaks didn’t quite meet my expectations. That said, the service was outstanding — the staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout our visit.
The wait was 1-1/2 hour that I had thought about giving them a 2 star. However, our waiter who unfortunately I can’t remember his name was Amazing; friendly, honest and fast. Though it was a busy night, the ambiance was perfect and even relaxing. The food was good (not an expert on meats). Just came here to say; they have the best Cole slaw I’ve ever had.
We ordered the ribeye and shrimp and it was delicious and made to order-perfect. We had the sausage bites which were wonderful. We also ordered mushrooms and noticed they weren't the Cattleman's famous mushrooms with wine and butter. They were too sweet and had no juicy butter or wine. We did not enjoy those.
Honestly, for a steakhouse, the steak was just decent, nothing amazing. The sides were also just your run-of-the-mill sides and a bit bland (especially their rice) in my opinion. Nothing to rave about. We got there a bit early to beat the dinner rush and were able to be seated right away and the service was friendly and great. What we enjoyed most was actually seeing their little petting zoo and their playground area. The playground area was made out of wood, which is nice because it's different. It had lots of things for little kids to do. The slides were a bit too fast for younger ones but still fun. With toddlers, I appreciate places that accommodate for families with little kids and this place definitely does that.
The atmosphere was very western esque and a bit old timey. The portion size of my ribeye was delicious! Sever was super attentive. Petting zoo was cute and the views are gorgeous during a sunset. The only con I can say it gets really busy and it’s a bit overpriced but it’s a special experience for sure especially for the family.
We went to Cattleman’s yesterday and ordered the Cowboy Steak to share between my husband and me. The steak was flavorful and generous in portion. The spicy beans were amazing—packed with flavor—and the coleslaw with pineapple was a refreshing surprise that we really enjoyed. The only downside was that the food came out warm, not hot, which was a bit disappointing. However, the service more than made up for it. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and overall, we had a great experience. We’d definitely go back!
Very family friendly place, we went on Sunday, around 6pm not busy at all, no wait. The restaurant is very big and nice. Food is all you can eat beans and coleslaw( sweet delicious), meat I expected to be the best but it was ok. Overall is very nice. Also, they offer tours around the ranch on Sunday every hour, if you dine-in is free but if not you can pay $5/person.
Man was I disappointed!!! After years of hearing the hype of how good this place is, my family finally went for my special birthday dinner. While the service was good, the place feels super out dated and dirty. Food is brought out on a rolling cart with foil on top. The sides are super limited and also out dated. While the picture of my meal looks absolutely awesome, the steak was chewy and had no flavor and my lobster was overcooked. You have to dress your own potato. While they give you all you can eat beans and coleslaw, both were gross and the free bread was hard. Most definitely not worth $300! I can say I went, but I have zero inclination to return.
Having moved here from Albuquerque a year and a half ago everyone has told us “you have to go to cattleman’s “ as we are steak lovers and have tried Weso , the great American and west Texas chop house . We never made it out so for our 7th anniversary we decided to make Cattleman’s our celebratory dinner. We were so exited to finally try this amazing food everyone has told us about. I now realize these people are not my friends and have horrible taste in food. We ordered the Cowboy porterhouse for me and filet mignon for my wife with the massive lobster tail for both to share . The waitress and staff were very friendly and accommodating but the food was nothing short of jail or hospital food. (I’ve been to both) Both steaks were flavorless even with the herbed butter addition. They tasted like raw hamburger meat with zero seasoning. The lobster tail was “powdery “in texture and crumbled like feta cheese in your hand and also was tasteless and only palatable with gobs of butter. The bread was a step below public school rolls and beans tasted like ash tray water smells. The only thing that was decent was the shrimp cocktail and the fire grilled sausage . We were so disappointed that these impressive looking steaks tasted like we imagine a worn workboat would taste. I’ve had a more impressive steak at Golden coral. It was a a complete let down then the bill came out and was over $230 bucks which we definitely would be more than happy to pay if the food didn’t make us feel like inmates at Guantanamo bay. . Don’t even order the chili strips as they were similar to bell peppers in a lime vinegar solution. We really had high hopes for this place but unfortunately will NEVER be back. Want a good steak in EL Paso area go to WESO, Or hell even Lubbys for that matter because this was absolutely a waste of time money and expectations. We were so disgusted we didn’t even get to walk the property as we got out of there as quickly as we could and had to stop at Burger King as we were still hungry .
