Ho cenato qui a Capodanno 2025, senza aver prenotato. È stato tutto perfetto: cameriere attento, gentilissimo e professionale; cibo di alta qualità (antipasti, primi e dolce); il posto è una chicca di architettura storica, elegante e silenzioso. Sinceramente non capisco come si possa recensire negativamente un posto del genere (anche perché ho notato che la stessa attenzione dedicata a me e mia moglie, il personale l'ha usata anche nei riguardi degli altri clienti all'interno del locale. Per il cibo mangiato e la qualità notevole della location e del servizio, sinceramente ho speso meno di quanto mi aspettassi. Lo consiglio tranquillamente, e ci tornerò senz'altro alla prima occasione

We visited Buca San Giovanni Frigest during our excursion of Florence and Pisa, and it was such a welcome stop on a very hot day! The cool, comfortable basement dining area was a refreshing escape from the summer heat. Since we were part of a group tour, they served us a family-style meal, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We had curly pasta with pesto sauce and rigatoni with bolognese. The pesto pasta was unlike any I’ve had before—so fresh, vibrant, and flavorful that it set a whole new standard for me. The rigatoni with bolognese was hearty and comforting, perfectly cooked with a rich, savory sauce. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere felt authentically Italian. A memorable dining experience that added something special to our Florence trip. Highly recommend!

Great location I can’t be any better. The food awesome atmosphere great service was great even though is the most touristy area the food came across really good and we really enjoyed it. We also get to look at the beautiful buildings and watch the tourist. Highly recommended.

To think that Donatello used this place as his "office" is just impressive. The painting on the ceiling and walls are all original. Our waiter gave us a brief history of the place. Food was excellent. We even sang Happy Birthday to my future son in law there. It was great

Excellent meal with an excellent view! I had a miscommunication with the waiter and ended up with something different from what I intended to order, but it didn’t even matter because all the food is so enjoyable, I ate the whole plate clean anyways. Service was extremely friendly and efficient. It’s a bit expensive, but you get a quality meal that I think is worth what you pay for.

What a fantastic place right near the Duomo. Went there the first night we arrived and was greeted by the friendly staff. Food was delicious and service even better. Went there every night then at least for a drink at the end of the night for the next few days. The staff not only remembered us but also our drinks order. All of them were lovely - the Italian men, the Sri Lankan and the Romanian girl.

We had a wonderful meal at this place, and were shocked later on to see so many negative reviews. I love a good basement restaurant, and we had absolutely wonderful service, including dish and wine recommendations that were spot-on, and they even put together a combination for us that wasn't on the menu. We were the only non-Italians in the restaurant, which is generally a good sign. The Bolognese was excellent and the cacio e pepe was the best I've had in Italy. The minestrone was a little under-seasoned, but it was still quite good. I can imagine if you're here in the high season, you might have less than perfect service, but ours was excellent, and we were glad we went.

La location è pazzesca, proprio davanti al Duomo di Firenze. Il locale è al piano interrato, nella "buca" appunto, a cui si accede tramite una ripida scala. È un locale caldo e accogliente, pareti con dipinti e con tantissime foto di personaggi famosi appese. Locale consigliato dall'hotel dove abbiamo soggiornato. Eravamo in coppia e abbiamo deciso di concederci una bella serata sotto il maestoso complesso del Duomo di Firenze. Questo ovviamente rende il locale molto caro, io ho preso una tagliata di carne con rucola e scaglie. Il piatto come portata era giusto ma per il prezzo pagato non era per nulla in linea. Però è chiaro, la location è suggestiva e i prezzi sono giusti per il luogo in cui si trova e non tanto per la qualità/prezzo. Il cibo appunto, buono ma non eccelso. Ottimo il calice di vino, buone la patate al forno e la pasta della mia ragazza

A shore excursion took us here for lunch. It borders the main cathedral as others have said which is nice and to me the atmosphere is what I'd expect for an Italian restaurant. The inside also was well maintained and clean along with the restrooms. The service was fine, it was a large group of about 40, and they did a good job of quickly serving everyone. While we didn't get to choose from the menu, the meal included: half bolognese and half pesto pasta, bread, red and white wine, and olive oil on request. Portions were generous. Also dessert wine and biscotti for dipping. Everything was enjoyable, I liked the pesto best; though can't say it's the best Italian ever overall it was a nice experience.

This place has a great setting, right next to the Duomo. We went there about 8pm on a Monday, and the service was really good. The three of us shared an appetizer, two primis, and a meat dish. All were very good! The ravioli with sage butter and asparagus was a surprising hit. Great for a drop in at the last minute, and very casual.

Nice restaurant in Florence just next to Catherdral of Santa Maria .it's a historical one ,established in 1882! We had wonderful pasta paccheri in duck sauce , spaghetti and wine for dinner. It was indeed a memorable one.

The food is lovely. The service is below 0. Super rude and very unaccommodating. I asked to change tables before ordering, as ours was next to the service station and we were treated like criminals for asking. The whole service was way below average. I only gave 2 stars for the good food. The service is -5 stars. Won't be back in a hurry.

We came by this place for lunch because of the location and the restaurant has been around for a long time. The food was mediocre at best. The salads were the worst, not fresh or tasty at all. The beef tartare was supposed to have some anchovy but I could hardly taste it, just beef and salt. Overall, not a good experience for us.

Partendo dal fatto che se vi sedete fuori ci saranno approssimativamente un settiliardo di turisti che vi passeranno ad un centimetro dalla vostra faccia infastidendovi per tutto il tempo. La piazza è piena di borseggiatrici e al turista di fronte a me hanno rubato la borsa mentre non guardava. Il personale era svogliato e maleducato e sono stato aggredito verbalmente dalla cameriera per aver chiesto un’informazione Il ristorante era molto rumoroso e sporco. C’erano rifiuti, feci, urina, cicche di sigarette e cibo per terra. Il cibo era palesemente surgelato e di qualità bassissima. Il prezzo poi era esorbitante. Non venite qui. È una truffa

I wish I didn’t have to give any stars. Service was atrocious as the waiter did not give us the time of day. By the time our food came, I had to get up from my seat to get our plates because the waiter did not bother walking around to our table. Later, two women were seated next to us and the same waiter changed personalities 180– super pleasant, flirtatious, and even attentive. Who is this guy? The disparity was evident and mind blowingly obvious. The food was salty maybe because our waiter had a salty personality. By the time the check came, the waiter so nonchalantly tapped my husband on the arm with the check. We waited about 45 minutes just to be able to pay. Eventually, we had to stand up and bring the check to the front. The only redeeming quality about this experience was the fact that it’s right next to Santa Maria Del Fiore. The Lord was indeed testing me that day. I don’t recommend this place but if you want salty carbonara by all means, try it.

My cousin and I waited decades to take this dream trip to Italy, having worked hard and raised our families as single mothers. Our first night in Florence was instantly and viciously ruined by the person who 'greeted' us. This individual was, without question, the most sexist, racist, and ignorant person I have ever encountered in the service industry—or anywhere else. ​We were treated with palpable hatred and contempt from the moment we walked in. The discrimination was so overt and aggressive that it felt like a deliberate attack. It was not merely bad service; it was an act of prejudice that left us shaken and deeply hurt. ​No customer, tourist, or human being deserves to be met with such disgusting bigotry. This establishment and the individual who represents it are a blight on the beautiful city of Florence and an absolute disgrace to the concept of hospitality. Save your money, and more importantly, save your dignity. Do not give your business to a place that sanctions such vile discrimination. PS, the bread was stale and tasteless, and we had to ask 3 times before we finally got some olive oil make it palatable. The rest of the food we had, the "primi", was mediocre. We never got a chance to try a secondi. We were told " we'll see how you do with the first course." He threw silverware on our table and never let us taste the wine before dumping it into our glasses. Perhaps he was just angry because he was a 64 year old "tennis pro" waiting tables in an overrated tourist trap.

If only the 0/5 existed... We took a table, after the confirmation of a waiter, to have only drinks. When we were ready to order 2 coffees, another waiter took out the cards of our hands and expelled us, quote "go to the bar, it's a restaurant here". I am happy to read the recent comments totally in phase with us, specifically the one from "Srushti Nagwekar" because I can see that this waiter specifically wasn't only rude to us. Honestly, they need to review their staff. Really, run from this place.

I wish I could give 0 stars The tall waiter with glasses, is extremely rude and racist. DO NOT GO HERE. I sat down with my dad to have a drink, I was extremely tired after walking for a long time in Italy’s heat, I took a sip from my water bottle and he comes up to me screaming “don’t eat and drink here!” I was confused and apologised but then I told him I’m not eating anything, he told me not to drink from my water bottle. I get that it might be against restaurant policy but I took a sip of water so absent mindedly. Screaming at me for this in front of other guests is unacceptable and there is a polite way of going about it. He doesn’t know the H in hospitality. And the other reviews are so true, skip this place Spoiled the day for us

Never ever ever ever again. For starters there was 1 waiter serving those outside however he was only paying attention to 1 couple while 3 other groups (including us) had sat down. The other waiters were basically standing around doing nothing. We ordered a pasta dish and the steak. The steak was already overpriced and when it came it was essentially raw on the inside (my partner had ordered for it to be cooked medium). After trying to chin it and eat it he decided to send it back to be cooked some more, it came back and was EXACTLY the same. The photo attached is how it looked when it returned. Additionally, when my food was on its way over, the waiter decided to parade around chatting to other customers while letting my food go cold. Very disappointing! I suggest you avoid this place like the plague. Edit: when we went to pay, i asked for a receipt so i could see how much each meal cost in total. He only gave me the copy that says the total amount. We did the math and he over charged us…unless a beer costs 13 euro lol.

We had the strangest experience at this restaurant. What seemed like a lovely location, sitting outside under the umbrellas enjoying the Duomo and the square turned into an ugly situation. The waiter accidentally spilled olive oil and balsamic all over me as he pushed a menu, it hit the bottles and the oil crashed to the ground bouncing oil all over my legs and shoes while I caught the balsamic, it was upside down and drained out over my arm, raincoat and lap. It was quite a mess as you can imagine. I excused myself to clean up in the bathroom (inside, downstairs). My husband asked that they delay delivering the food as he didn’t want our food sitting and getting cold as I was otherwise involved. I exited the restaurant 10 minutes later to my food being delivered and my husband was not sure if we were staying or going, based on my outfit and shoes. I reassured him I was OK and we proceeded to eat our now not hot food, and it was terrible. It was luke warm, salty and not appetizing. We decided at the point to ask for the bill and get out of there. The waiter was very rude to us. We knew the spill was an accident and didn’t blame him for what happened but I do blame him for what happened after. He was very rude to us, kept yelling “kill the baby” at us (which we had no idea what he was talking about), made faces about my husband with other staff and at me, he ripped off the receipt after taking the credit card from my husband and through it my direction even though he was standing next to where my husband was sitting. We received absolute disrespect from the waiter and we just needed to remove ourselves. This was our worst experience while traveling for 3 weeks and left us both questioning the whole episode as it was so strange. I would not recommend this restaurant, the food alone was sub par and the service was absolutely abysmal and disrespectful.
