Excellent this place is one of my favorites cause the drinks are made well, the staff knows it's liquor and liqueur. Not good for those looking for a straight glass of anything. But good for the exotic mixes and great flavor you get.
Delicious cocktails and a great vibe. Would definitely come back.
My favorite bar on Magnolia. It’s so cozy and cute at night. Literally perfect for an intimate date or just a casual night out. I had a rose water and gin cocktail and it was the perfect amount of sweet, floral, and herby. I have my TABC, maybe I should apply lol
Love silent book club on Tuesdays! It’s so cozy.
Regina will make you custom drinks based on your needs! she made me such a good cocktail off what I specified and it was phenomenal. 10/10
The usual has become one of my favorite lounge/bar experiences in the historic South Side district. What I love the most about this place is the friendliness of the staff. Every time I've visited this place I was treated very well by the bartender and other wait staff regardless of how busy it was. Everyone working here seems to want to be here. The style of the place gives off a modern but hip vibe to it. However it's important to know the drink selection is very classy as they specialize in cocktails. The bathrooms are kept up very well and the pricing is fair for the area. The ambient music is very upbeat as well. I would give this place 10 stars if Google would let me! Great job folks at the Usual!
First time going to this bar on Friday night. Not to packed or busy, perfect atmosphere for a casual date night! The citronella drink was amazing and they had so many alcohol options (something for everyone). Bartenders were very attentive and were kind. Will definitely be going back to this spot! They are kind of tucked away but promise they are open 😉
The staff here is top notch! When we arrived they greeted us as we walked in even though it was busy! You may have to wait for a cocktail but that is because they do it right! If you are looking for an amazing cocktail curated by the best cocktail makers this is the spot! Worth the wait! Great place for a first date or "we have a sitter so we are going out on our one millionth date!" Love the Usual! Check this place out!
Absolutely love the cocktails. My go-to is the Old Fashioned, but everything I’ve tried ever tried has been delicious. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is what you’d want for a cocktail vibe.
As far as bars go, this is definitely top-tier. The drink itself was amazing and unique with a fairly unique menu in general, and the atmosphere is really nice. It's a very nice date spot with the dim lighting and our waitress was very attentive and polite.
The cocktails are delicious and they have a great variety of unique liquors/liqueurs. Prices are very fair for the service and quality of cocktails. I do wish that the cocktail menu had a few more choices, but the mixologists are happy to make something up for you if you ask. Not unbearably crowded on a Saturday night, but they could use some additional large party seating or high top tables to set drinks on. It's an intimate setup for couples and small groups. Anything more than 4-6 people and you should expect to stay standing. I've seen people bring food or get delivery before if that's something important to you. They also permit dogs but honestly they seem really out of place with the atmosphere.
This place is really magical! You walk into the understated but cozy bar and it feels like you are meant to be there. You see the most up-to-date pride flag proudly hanging from the wall and it feels genuine and safe. If you though the atmosphere was good, wait till you get your hands on a drink because, goodness me, these are some of the best I’ve had. To start, our amazing server, Cynthia, was so knowledgeable on any and everything on the menu, and as an added bonus she had some amazing recommendations! I had the “sand and sea” first and GOOD LORD it was DEVINE!!! It was complex and elevated but still approachable and fresh, and the way it smelled!!! I also had the “don’t ask, don’t tell” which was amazing, it was floral but not to the point where is was potpourri to the face, and the ginger beer in it was crisp and refreshing. My partner had the “just keep swimming” which Cynthia described as a Pina colada with a more sophisticated pallet. And that is exactly what it was, it had all of those familiar flavors done so beautifully, like you could pick each one out individually. This was an amazing first go at the usual. We will definitely be returning to see what their menu has next!
It is always such a pleasure to spend time here with friends. It is always such a calm and cozy atmosphere. The drinks are actually amazing, probably one of the best! They are very consistent with their flavors. I'm never disappointed!
My first time here. Nice place for a drink (or two). Cozy atmosphere with a clean and simple decor. The service was great. Smallish bar, but plenty of tables and cozy booths. Could use a few more comfy couches. Definitely worth a return visit.
One of my all time favorite bars in Fort Worth. I learned so much about craft cocktails and spirits in general just by sitting at the bar. Any question I had was always answered with thought, history, and a side of opinion. I have learned techniques just by watching. I have tasted spirits I never would have known about. And I have made friends. I also now have a crippling rum collection habit, so careful there. Cheers!
This was an incredible bar. The bartender was super kind and helped us find drinks that we would enjoy. The Usual had everything: clean facilities, unique cocktails, alcohol I have never heard of before. I can not recommend the Usual enough. I can’t wait until we come back.
I don't drink liquor and mixed drinks, but when I do, I go to The Usual. Done in a speakeasy style, it's easy to miss the entrance unless you're looking. Open the front door and there's an awesome cocktail bar on the other side. By late Friday and Saturday, it's shoulder to shoulder busy, so if you want your cocktail during quieter times, plan accordingly. The bartenders pay careful attention to detail, measuring and pouring their drinks. Their cocktail menu is outstanding and some of the bartenders have their own creations or specialities. Be warned - it's a little pricey, but the crowds are evidence that it's worth it. They have a solid, if small, craft beer selection too. Insider Info: It's non-smoking, but go out the back door outside to a smoking area. Continue around the corner and you'll often discover a food truck, Holy Frijole, serving up good food. In fact, it's probably the only place you can get food on Magnolia after midnight on the weekends. The last time I was there, you were allowed to bring it inside The Usual to eat.
Lovely place. Had the daiquiri and an old fashioned. They use Buffalo trace for the old fashioned. Delicious
Very low key! Definitely not something you'd expect from the outside. Upscale romantic and the high life vibe. Drinks are incredible not ur typical everyday drinks. I give the usual 5 stars and it is definitely mine and my wife's new place
What a hidden gem! Reasonably priced cocktail and an amazing happy hour! Customer service was amazing. Mixologists was fat and so very friendly! Love the vibe!
The Usual is my go-to bar in Fort Worth. It strikes the perfect balance between laid-back and upscale. The bartenders are amazing, delivering exceptional service and expertly crafting unique cocktails. I appreciate a place with real mixologists who know their craft, and the drinks here never disappoint.
One of my favorite no-fuss places for craft and classic vintage cocktails. If you love a creative cocktail, go here! Laid back, calm vibe where you can have a conversation thanks to the semi-private booths, or feel free to sit at the bar that's always busy and chat with the bartenders. One of the few bars we repeatedly come back to. Highly recommend.
I didn't get a picture of my cocktail, but I snapped a pic for the recipe. I Found My Sally was absolutely delicious! The drinks here are quite pricey, but they're all made with high quality ingredients. So that does come at a premium. Great vibe. Nice place to chill and relax with a group of friends to have a cocktail or two.
Excellent ambience, love the hidden speakeasy vibe. I seriously recommend the non-alcoholic Prosecco, it was so good! We were seated off to the side in a cozy booth (not pictured since I forgot to take many pictures). Will be back for a date night or catch-up with the gals.
Beautiful cocktail bar, with amazing happy hour and the bartenders are wonderful. Will be back soon. Also bring your own food 🥑!
The best mixologist bar in Ft Worth. The bartenders are always friendly and ready to talk liquors and bitters etc., if you know the subject. A great place to have a drink, go for a local meal which are all within walking distance, then have a nightcap. Park behind and take your valuables. Highly Recommended
Great, chill spot. The drinks are delicious and the staff is friendly. Thanks Dexter and Manda
Always an excellent experience. The sound of shakers and the taste of hand crafted drinks is a must. The staff always have a superb suggestion for each pallet. Favorite must try, Don't Ask, Don't Tell and Rose On Rose On Rose.
Awesome spot in Magnolia. Super chill vibe, great staff, and amazing selection! One of the best old fashioneds I've ever had!
Will always come back to the usual. Impeccable cocktails and great folks every time. One of the best gems in Fort Worth!
It’s a cozy bar/lounge with craft cocktails and good vibes. I got the Rose on Rose on Rose drink and it was really good!
Cody was a helluva guy! Overall great bartender in overalls
Good pours and lively conversation with the bartenders with a wide variety of different liquors.
Great when not really busy. Drinks are solid, service is good. If they are slammed, it is a very long wait for drinks because they do not batch anything, it's all hand made.

Stopped in for a drink
Good pours and lively conversation with the bartenders with a wide variety of different liquors.
Really one of the few places I still enjoy on Magnolia. There was one time that I went with some friends and one of the friends wasn't drinking due to being the DD for the night, and was charged $10 (may be one or two dollars off, but it was up there) for a non alcoholic drink because it was an "off menu item." I think it was a Shirley Temple or something. I understand this may be policy, but it's one that should definitely be reconsidered if so, and anyone visiting and not drinking should be aware of this possibility.
This is the best place in Fort Worth for craft drinks at a reasonable price. I visited The Usual on two recent occasions, so I combined each visit in this review. The area is dimly lit. There are plenty of tables and a patio area. There is lots of space for people to move around and you won't feel squished. I loved the ancient mariner (mostly rum) and it wasn't sweet, which is my kind of drink. The bartenders were great. We had a large group playing a board game and they stopped by our table several times to refill waters and ask for our orders. My second drink was off the menu and had grapefruit juice. Still, the mariner was my favorite. On my second visit, Matthew made a kick ass earl grey shot. Try it if you can! I ordered the ancient mariner (again). It took 15 minutes to make because they needed to find the right bartender to make it. It was still worth it. The bathrooms are unisex and were well-kept on both visits. Overall, this is my number one place to go for craft drinks in Fort Worth.
I loved the design. Simple and unassuming outside with sleek but warm interior. Great atmosphere with great service from knowledgeable bartenders. One of the bartenders wasn't quite as helpful in describing some of the drinks to me, but all the drinks I had still came out great. Would recommend anyone check this place out for cocktails.
A low-key cocktail bar that is worth checking out if you have any interest at all. The bartenders and servers are nice folks that, in my experience, often like to drop tidbits of trivia concerning their drink menu. Moments like these can occur regularly since several of the drinks here put exotic twists on a traditional creation. Still, I've yet to absolutely love anything I've ordered here or the drinks of others that I have tried. Something always seems off. Usual's atmosphere is also strange. My guess is they're going for minimalism but to me it just feels empty and plain. At the same time the low lighting and private booths are a huge plus and probably a big reason I've revisited. Lastly, this place isn't cheap. If hitting the town on a budget is your plan then either have a big budget or tread carefully.
This bar has a massive number of craft cocktail possibilities given their bar selection and the skill of their staff. We arrived around 8ish and easily claimed a booth. By 10pm, the place was much more crowded and tables were at a premium. I docked a star because our server was MIA once it picked up and we had to go wait at the bar to close out. Also, it has a lingering smell of a bar that once allowed smoking.
Apart from Thompson's, this is my go-to for a great cocktail in Fort Worth. It's a little more of a lounge with less gimmicks than the aforementioned. The servers and bartenders have an incredible amount of knowledge and experience with every bottle behind the bar, and every drink on the menu.
Dexter and Chris were amazing!! This is my new spot! Happy I rolled upon this for a nice night cap happy hour.
Great place and high quality cocktails. The only negative was all the staff wore masks. We're nearly 2 years since this thing started stop it already
I really want to like this place, but it's so hit or miss. Sometimes we get excellent drinks and good service. But sometimes we get ignored completely and then get disgusting drinks. Just at least be average service and drinks consistently. Even my friends in the bar industry admit your service is poor at best.
Drinks were good and service was great. Loved that atmosphere but the septic/sewage smell was overwhelming so we only stayed for one drink. Would visit again if that issue is fixed.
I’m hoping we just caught them on a rough night. Last night was my birthday and I really wanted to check out The Usual as I saw they do silent book club nights! However, the two working did not give off the most friendly vibes. We tried to make light conversation but one just walked away while the other hardly responded. The drinks were fine, but after the first interaction it made it hard to enjoy. Based on other reviews, I am hoping it was just an off night, but it makes me hesitant to return for the silent book club nights if the service isn’t going to match the inviting atmosphere.
Walked in and had a seat at a booth. After 15 minutes I went up to the bar and had two bartenders ignore me for about 5+ minutes (no one else was at the bar). I went back to our booth and waited another 10 minutes before going back to the bar and finally got a response that someone would come to the booth. Another person grabbed my card brought our drinks back. No one ever came back after about 20 minutes I went back to the bar asking to tab out and mentioned that they still had my card. The guy that took my order and card said that they didn’t have it. He came back to the table and said that they bring it right back, even after I said no one ever brought it back. He was almost aggressive about it. After looking for about 5 minutes he comes back with my card and tab with zero apologies about anything. Be careful with your card if you go and expect a wait to get anyone to notice you.
Owners have common sense and be nice to everyone! My company has 120 employees , we were looking for somewhere to have our Christmas party... it wont here here the owner is RUDE!!!!!!
