Small family run business! Flavorful food. We loved the Goat biryani 🤤. Sauces/chutneys are all house made and authentic tasting. The service was attended as well! I will definitely visit again.
I visited Taj-E-Chaat in Fremont, California, yesterday, and it was absolutely wonderful! The highlight of our meal was the Aloo Paratha—it was so delicious we ended up ordering it again! Their Veg Thali was also incredible, offering a variety of flavors that truly reminded me of home-cooked meals. The food tasted authentic, fresh, and made with love. If you're looking for comforting, homestyle Indian food, this place is a must-try! Can't wait to visit again.
Love going to this place. Fish curry is amazing. We also tried their chili fish and it was very good. They serve hot freshly rolled (not the packaged kind) chapatis, that are so soft and great tasting. Mango lassi is freshly prepared too and was just as it should be! One of the best places for Indian food in Fremont.
Food was amazing here. Huge portions for the price. Seems like a cute mom and pop shop.
The most amazing homemade, fresh, well presented and scrumptious food within three hundred miles. A frequent visitor and never disappointed! . The garlic naans are out of this world. A very friendly family operated food joint. Reasonably priced. Love , love this place ❤️
We love the butter chicken here. Honestly, we haven't gotten anything we didn't like. Prices are fair too for what you get. Seating is a little limited, but we mostly order to go and walk over and pick it up. I've eaten at the tables though. Service is cafe style, which I had no issue with. Strongly recommend.
I was craving Indian food for lunch today, and found this place in central Fremont. I called in advance, and the restaurant seemed busy, but the gentleman was really polite and asked me to hold. He came back and took my order and told me that the order would be ready in about 20-25 minutes. I showed up a little early, and saw that they were preparing the order. The same gentleman offered to bring the order out to me when it was ready - but that was not necessary. It was the gesture that counts. I paid for the order, and waited a bit longer and took the order home. The first things to note is that the order was so well packed, complete with saran wrap in case of any spills (there were none). I opened up the butter chicken, the aloo gobi, the garlic naan and rice... and began eating. The food was simply amazing. The chicken was tender, the garlic naan flavorful, the aloo gobi had a nice kick to it - and paired with rice. It was perfect. When I left the chefs waved and said thank you. Who takes their time to do that these days? They do, and it just make the restaurant even more welcoming. I look forward to coming back again. Thank you again.
Excellent customer service. I missed to get the name of the guy who helped us and he is awesome. Food is really good as well.
The best Chicken Tikka Masala I’ve had in Bay Area. No, it’s not just tomato purée mixed with cream. It is genuine Indian styled savory gravy. Really happy. Also tried sev papdi chaat, it was awesome!!
Great food at good prices, especially for the area. The setting is simple, but the service is pretty good, particularly for a place where you order at the counter. I would suggest trying one of the plates for variety if you come alone or with one other person. Otherwise, sharing several dishes and bread works well. I like the butter chicken, the chicken tikka masala, the saag paneer, the paneer bhurji, and the mulli paratha (stuffed bread). The only downsides are that you usually have a 20ish minute wait for food and that the restroom is rather run down.
First time here and came to try the paneer wrap. It was so good and exactly what I was craving. A family owned business. I will definitely be back!!
Wow! I was driving to my hotel and needed gas. As I drove through I noticed there was a bunch of Indian restaurants. I quickly Yelped the closest ones and this one was highly rated. Thank you all who have come before me and did your reviews. As Someone from out of town I really appreciate it. I ordered the Chicken Tiki Combo Plate with Garlic Naan and a Mango Lassi. This was hands down the BEST mango Lassi I have ever had! Check the insane color! It was so good! The chicken and rice was on point and super spicy as I requested! The garlic naan pictures do it no justice ! It was so good! So crispy and delicious 😋 It was weird there were no napkins anywhere so please if you are reading this owner, straighten that part out. Other than that there is only positives to say about this local business!
The food here is so good, just like the home-cooked food I used to eat at my home.We come here for take out once or twice a week. The food is always fresh and the customer service is amazing.I would highly recommend this place for the best Indian food…..Best in quality nd quantity ………..
4.5 Stars for this place. Definitely a very underrated place. They may not get points, in their presentation but surely are very good in taste. Very homely food.. Not much oily or high on spices.. Can surely eat everyday without upsetting stomach. Very accommodating if you want any customization as well.
We ordered the papdi chaat and chole bhature. The service was fast and friendly. The food came pretty quickly so I questioned the freshness, but both items were definitely fresh and delicious. The server brought over two sauce bottles (red and green), too. We ordered at the counter, ate and returned to the counter to pay. I want to try one of their sabjis or paraunthe next time I'm in the area.
Loved their mixed Chaat, chicken pakoda. The chiken roll was huge, could not finish it and made with batura rather paratha. Biriyani was okay, not exactly like biriyani, more of pulao
Chaat items are really good at this restaurant. Also ordered Paneer Biryani but their server told upfront honestly that it will more likely be Pulao than dum biryani and it was decent too.
This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the bay area. Coming here for the last 6 years. Same quality and reasonable prices. This review was long due.

I just moved to Fremont and often times, I find the reviews do not match up with the food, environment, or service. However Taj e Chaat doe and they deserve every 5 stars they get! Amazing place with great food, lots of selections and they are so accommodating with dietary restrictions. The service is always amazing and we keep coming back because they are all such kind people. For most places when I call in to order, often times people are rude and not willing to help but I've always had a great experience calling in. We always get the butter chicken with garlic Nan! Super fresh if you dine in and still delicious for take out!
This by far is my favorite spot to come for Samosa Chaat. I eat here about once a week. Very friend family owned small business and they work very hard. The Samosa Chaat is a good portion. Very authentic dish filled with flavors. The Samosa is the perfect texture and not super oily. Great spot to bring the family or a friend or to go along for a nice Authentic Indian Dish.
Solid 4.5/5 overall. It's a cozy spot for some really delicious Indian food. There is plenty of variety on the menu, from veg to non veg curries, wraps, biryanis, etc. I got the kadhai chicken with rice and a chicken wrap, and both were fresh, flavourful, tasty, high quality, and generously portioned. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the curry itself was very flavourful without being overpowering and had just the right spice level. Only thing I didn't like was the mango lassi had a slightly weird taste to it, as if it was mixed with carbonated water and milk instead of yoghurt. Other than that, all the food I had was fantastic. Service is fairly quick, and the staff are really friendly and courteous. The restaurant itself is quite small and cozy but spacious enough. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out, and I will definitely be back!

Love parantha. But the price could be better. Amazing super large parantha, just like homemade.
Had chickpea curry from this place. Friend had some other vegetarian dish with cheese in it. It was wayy better than mine. They have non-vegetarian food too, didn't get to try it since it was apparently a vegetarian kind of day. I wouldn't doubt they were good. A little disappointed in the tap water but that's ok.
This place might really have the best samosa Chaat in the bay area! All my friends are huge fans of the spicy chicken wrap as well- so much that they almost get it 4/7 days a week!
Great variety of food and authentic tasting parathas. The tandoori platter was superb... Parking can be hard to find sometimes and you can expect lines during peak hours but it's well worth the wait
A little space with low ambience but great quality of food. I came here twice to have goat biryani here as it is different from regular biryani. People here are so respectful and polite.
We ordered alootikki chat and chhole bhature. Food was mildly spiced, tikki was too chewy. I’ve had better at this place. The only plus point of this order was the portion size. There were 3 bhatura served with chhole and tikki chaat was also a decent portion for two.
I like the place. It has less spicy food, which is good in quality and wuantity. Veggie plate is almost like thali; gets you a roti, two curries and load of rice for less than 9$. It is close to my office and I often take lunch here. Chicken sandwitch and roll is also good here. Overall, variety is good but menu can be improved little bit. Chef is good and staff friendly. It is small restaurant but not that crowded in peak lunch or dinner time. Parking nearby is ample. They do have togo.
One of the best north indian food in bay area. Loved their chole bhature and aloo paratha. Very fresh and delicious. Chaat is good too though pani puri is just average.
Bought samosas and tasted great. Ambience was also good for eating. Chutney provides was very good. Overall cleanliness also felt good.

What sucks is I'd rather leave a better review, but the staffs hours and the atmosphere make it very hard. The food here is really good....when you can get it. I don't know what it is, but anytime between 530-830pm is a tossup on whether or not they are even serving anything other than appetizers. Food is expensive too...i spend almost $30-$35 for chicken tikka masala and 2 orders of Garlic Naan. I write this remorse as the gentlemen and lady who man the front are actually very sweet. They even walk the food out to your car for your convenience. My advice: get another chef cus the price is tolerable. You guys are that good! But until then, I don't think I am going to order from here again. I hope you guys listen because I'd love to come back and change my review.
Good food, not a great ambience, more of a take out place. They have open kitchen which is good but they can work on hygiene, gloves and keeping up with cleanliness. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a as close to Indian taste as compared to many other Indian restaurant.
This is easily one of my go-to restaurants for takeout. Has been for a long time. Recently, they raised prices and now it cost me $30 for my usual dish, butter chicken, white rice, naan + a drink. Sadly, I'm going to need to cut down the number of times I eat here, because $30 is a bit too much for me. Food is delicious, though!
The service is fast and they have a few tables to eat. It is more of a hole in the wall place than fine dining. The food, however, was not flavorful. I read other reviews that said it was mild spicy, I expected not chilly pepper hot, but full of other flavors. We ordered Bhel Puri and Chana Bhatura. Both were well made, but very low on flavor of any kind. Even the salt was a little on the low side. They were also low on oil, so at least that was good. They provided very generous portion of bhel puri. However, the Chana Bhatura came with too little Chana. We asked for refills and got charged extra for that. The other problem was that they keep their front door open all the time. On a cold night, it was uncomfortable sitting there, but they said they couldn't close the door as they were cooking in the back. Overall, it might be a good choice to order take out or delivery when you are sick or recovering from sickness and want simple well cooked food with low oil and low spices.
Pros: Paneer Tikka and Chhole Bhature was good. Staff is very humble and listen carefully. Cons: tea was average, Chhole was very less and not enough (even after I asked to add more) for 2 Bhature if you take away the food. Probably eat there only or ask them add enough. Enough parking is available outside. I would rate 2.5 for this time’s experience
Awesome taste but wait time is little longer than expected. Prices are high when compared to other restaurants. Ambiance is not good. Don't check the prices online as they are not updated.

Food is generally fine. But they serve the most horrendous tea charges at 1.25. Other places serve tea complimentary that is a 100 times better. When I told the guy at the counter that it's the worst tea ever - he actually said that other people live by it. As if am lying... Never having tea here. Am sure recycled water used to water plants tastes better!
Today I visited at your restaurant and also today is so special day for my husband and me as today is valentine’s day we choosed your restaurant i orderd bhelpuri papdi chaat and chole bathure all the three things taste so worst the papdi chat have an extra sauce which taste so baad bhelpuri have the worst taste and chole bthaure is little uncooked
ordered chole bature, bature was so thick like bun and was raw, chole was only filled with turmeric and salt, no other flavor. Ordered Tandooor mixed Grill, meat was rubbery and wasn’t fresh.
We ordered Goat Biryani, Mango Lassi and some more item. All Food is waste of Money. Not Healthy Food at all . specially the Biryanis. I asked The Guy if he cooked The Biryani today, he said it’s from yesterday. 🤮 it’s been 30 hrs I can eat yet. 🤮. We do not recommend this place at all.
Pathetic , tasteless., A shame to Indian food.if you wish to burn your money , better put that on fire than eat in this godforsaken place. I had a chola bhatura which was basically a pita bread fried and served with tasteless cholas. Paneer Tikka masala has fried paneer which is a disgrace to this legendary dish. Naan was not a naan but a double roti. Please please do not order north Indian food here or better don't go there..
The Chaat was spicy and dry. Had ordered two different Chaat dishes but they turned out to be exactly the same. The biryani was good, but the portion of raita that came with it was less and didn't last for more than 5 bites. For a place that has Chaat in it's name, this was a total disappointment.
0/5 Horrible food & extremely dirty restaurant! Went here because of positive reviews, but our experience was the opposite. I would avoid this restaurant!
I would give zero for worse service. I ordered bhelpuri here it's completely tasteless with no spices. Guy in the counter having bad attitude towards customers. When I request for tomato here replies this way, we serve our bhel Puri like this. Later , I ordered samosa chat which was good. Charge customers only if you server the quality food being notified he still charged me. When you are taking money correctly from customers give them a proper food. Will never come again and I will recommend my friends in Fremont not to go this place..
tons of the chaat food tastes stale - the chana especially. came for a group meal and various dishes were made with old food
