Good evening, we stayed as a group for both dinner and an overnight stay. I had a great time. The pizzoccheri were delicious, the rooms were traditional with bunk beds, and the staff was friendly and always available, especially the bartenders Nicolò and Davide, who are truly talented. A "must" stop for a coffee and a slice of cake during the "climb" to the summit of Monte Barro starting from Galbiate, it also offers excellent lunch dishes on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays... We had pizzoccheri, polenta uncia, and excellent baked potatoes... Update: We tried the pre-arranged set menu, also accepted for a table of just four, with appetizer, first course, second course, side dish, water, coffee, and wine. Very good.

The photos of the dishes, while very well-presented, don't do justice to the quality of the food. The midweek price is fair, not cheap, but we're not in the village (€13 for a first or second course menu, €15 for a single course menu). It's a shame the menu no longer offers a quarter cup of wine instead of water. The staff is courteous and sensible. The church is very beautiful, but closed during the week. The walk is beautiful, with beautiful views, plants, and insects/animals. There's a botanical trail, but everything is beautiful. Suitable shoes or hiking boots are a must for the summit. The rocks are slippery.

After a strenuous hike up Monte Barro, we found the perfect reward here. A beautiful setting with a stunning view. The food was excellent – ​​the pici al ragù di selvaggina were a particular highlight. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to combine nature with good food!

We left our car in the free parking lot in Fornace (arrive early, as there are about 30 spaces available) and, after a 25-30 minute walk, all uphill but not too difficult, we reached the restaurant. We decided to get the food to go, since it was a beautiful day, and eat on the terrace. Service is only available inside. We enjoyed the food, and the prices are in line with those elsewhere. There's also a water fountain to refill your water, to the left of the restaurant entrance.

Traditional dishes in a splendid setting! The first course, second course, and dessert were all delicious, including the wine and the bill! The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We'd been coming here for a while, and it's always a pleasure to find the same quality and friendliness at a very fair price.

April 17, 2024. During this trek to Monte Barro, passing by the Corni di Canzo, I stopped for lunch at this restaurant. The location is beautiful. The hiker's lunch is plentiful and affordable, and the service is quick and courteous. There's always good music, often live. A place for those who, in addition to good food, love nature and art. The restaurant offers Brianza and mountain specialties in a characteristic, informal, and courteous atmosphere. In addition to traditional dishes, organic and vegetarian menus are available.

Siamo stati in questo posto vicino a Milano per fare una camminata. Appena prima del rifugio c'è un parcheggio a pagamento gestito dall'autorità del parco al prezzo di 5 euro. Da lì si prende una mulattiera in mezzo al bosco e si arriva al rifugio in 20 o 30 minuti, 200 m di dislivello. Il percorso è una mulattiera di ciotolato, è in mezzo al bosco quindi quasi tutto all'ombra, occorrono almeno delle scarpe da ginnastica. Bello il panorama sul lago Annone. Si può arrivare al rifugio direttamente in auto telefonando e chiedendo loro il permesso per accedere all'ultimo tratto di strada. Il personale è molto gentile , il servizio è veloce. Abbiamo preso i pizzoccheri e lo stufato di cervo con porcini. I piatti sono buoni.

The Hermitage of Monte Barro can be reached either by hiking or by car. I tried a plate of pizzoccheri, which was very well made, and a dessert (I recommend the chocolate cake, which is better made than the one with fig jam, which is less fluffy). The Hermitage was very crowded, precisely because many people arrived by car without walking, so there was a long line at the bar. You need to reserve in advance if you want to sit at the tables. Otherwise, you can still order their takeout dishes and eat them comfortably on their large terrace, above the actual restaurant. The view from the terrace is splendid.
