We had dinner with family and friends and were very satisfied. My 9-year-old son also loved it. Thanks also to the guy who served us, he was very friendly!
Last Wednesday, we dined at this charming trattoria, located directly across from the Genova Costa train station in Sestri Ponente. It was featured in the latest edition of Alessandro Borghese's Quattro Ristoranti, a special dedicated to the best restaurants with fresh pasta workshops. The location is simple, but with a beautiful summer terrace surrounded by greenery. It offers simple cuisine, but with an excellent selection of ingredients. The wine list is very interesting, with excellent value, including an excellent Grillo Vigne di Mandrianova 2022 from the Alessandro di Camporeale winery in Camporeale (PA), which paired perfectly with the dishes. We first shared the mixed antipasto, including freshly made farinata, sardenaira, brandacujuïn, and marinated anchovies. We then continued, each choosing the tagliatelle verde al ragù bianco (onion, carrot, and meat) as our first course, which was truly excellent. For main courses, we had Ligurian-style rabbit and braised beef in Nizza, served with baked potatoes. Both dishes were delicious! Finally, the desserts, both homemade and incredibly simple, included a panna cotta with rose syrup and a light lemon cake. A glass of water and two coffees rounded out a truly delicious dinner, bringing the bill to €95 for two, which is extremely reasonable considering the quality of the dishes we enjoyed. It goes without saying that this place is highly recommended; we can't wait to return! Bravo!
Located behind the railway and the buildings, in a green, almost agricultural setting, with the beautiful hills of Sestri Ponente in the background, it has a lovely outdoor lawn and even a glimpse of the sea in the distance. The staff is very kind and friendly, and the traditional Ligurian dishes (farinata, stockfish, brandacujun, rabbit, sardenaira, etc.) are carefully prepared. Definitely recommended for enjoying typical Ligurian cuisine in a classic osteria setting. Reservations are recommended, as seating is generally limited.
We unexpectedly found ourselves with a couple of friends for Sunday lunch. We had a table for four. We waited a few minutes after our reservation because the restaurant was full and the table was becoming available. The waiter was very courteous, both in his service and in his inquiries about the dishes. We didn't have to wait long from the moment our order was taken to the moment we were seated. We ordered a couple of mixed appetizers, four first courses, four second courses, and four desserts, along with water, wine, and a coffee. I can say that the food was good, both high-quality and fresh. Good value for money. Next time we'll try eating outside in the garden. Approved!!!
We ate at O Paulo for Christmas lunch with the family. The menu was set and was excellent. However, we are difficult customers, because out of six people, one is celiac, one is vegetarian, and one has a food intolerance... basically, they could have invited us to stay home. Instead, they were VERY KIND and made everyone happy, serving authentic and delicious dishes. Not only do we thank them, but we will definitely be back.
Excellent home cooking. The appetizers were good, and the farinata was excellent, cooked to order in a wood-fired oven. The first courses were pasta with pesto, ravioli, and spaghetti with anchovy sauce (all excellent). For the second course, I had the exceptional Stok; I didn't try the other courses: the braised beef, the rabbit, etc. However, the comments from my companions were all favorable. My final word of recommendation goes to the desserts; I tried a few: the panna cotta, tiramisu, and the tart, all very good; the red wine was decent. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Maybe I'm nostalgic or sentimental, but as soon as I walked in I felt at peace, just like at home... Or rather, like when I used to prepare our wonderful Genoese recipes with my grandmother. The same aroma, passion, and sense of well-being. Right from the call to make the reservation, we were in sync in agreeing on a time, even eliciting a hearty laugh...all of which was confirmed upon arrival and throughout the entire lunch. The house mixed salad was delicious, especially the farinata, truly delicious. The octopus pasta dish was very satisfying. The stockfish was truly the way it used to be made... with a bold and intense flavor. Definitely worth returning for!
We stayed one day in Genova and we stumbled upon this gem! Our Polpo pasta was incredible, the wine recommended paired nicely with our food. The atmosphere was lively and warm, the kitchen had a glass partition where you see a preview of your meal to come. We met Roberto (host/owner) great guy, very gracious. Incredible food for great price and no craziness of a tourist packed restaurant. Highly recommend this place! We went on a Sunday, i suggest calling ahead to book a table because the place got busy.

Ambiente semplice, pulito e accogliente.
Molto rustico .
This restaurant is located on the coast of Genoa Sestri, opposite the train station. The restaurant is cute, well-kept, a little small, but welcoming. The dishes are well-made, especially the pasta dishes, which are one or two steps above the other dishes. Parking... Best to arrive in a small car.
A slightly out-of-the-way but nice place, it's not big but very welcoming, the dishes they offer are traditional Ligurian dishes of good quality, it's worth trying it.
Let me start by saying that the food is excellent in a small but welcoming restaurant. The cuisine is home-cooked, so there are a few dishes, but they're just right. My only criticism is that the menu is truly limited. Too little choice, especially for appetizers and side dishes, which are nonexistent! There are no side dishes on the menu, so your vegetarian friends won't be able to come!
A good osteria above Genoa, a bit tricky to get to and small, run by two young people. The service was friendly and fairly quick. The food was all good, perhaps not abundant except for the starters. The price, which has risen recently, was in line with restaurant prices. 1 appetizer, 2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 desserts, 1 bottle of white wine and 1 bottle of water, €84.00. I wasn't particularly impressed, and since it's not in my region, I don't think I'll go there again.
The location perhaps deserves four stars, even if it's quite a bit of a hassle to find. It's small inside, but it makes up for it with an outdoor area where we dined. The dishes are well-prepared and the food is good. The only drawback is the appetizer, which included a bit of farinata, some cuculli, and three marinated anchovies; the main course was stockfish with perhaps too many potatoes; and a 1/2 liter of house wine with coffee afterward. The same goes for those who ordered a first course instead of a second course with the appetizer. It cost €27...they could do better. I8
Reservations were made on November 27th (7 people) for dinner on Sunday, December 21st. On December 21st, the person who made the reservation received a phone call at 1:30 PM informing them that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evenings. Finding another place six hours early, so close to Christmas, I think will be impossible. I'm not questioning the quality of the food, which I haven't had the chance to try and never intend to in the future, but the management has proven to be sloppy and unreliable!
