The food was incredible, but the service was outstanding. The waitress was incredibly attentive; it was our birthday, and she even took the initiative to put candles on our dessert. She was very kind, offering recommendations and accommodating our needs. We had been before, and the same waitress was amazing (as was the rest of the staff). Thank you so much, Alejandra, for making our meal experience so much better.
This is a great Cider House (sidrería). The food is excellent. They regularly compete in local competitions for the best food items, like croquettes, cachopo, etc. You can have small plates, known as "raciones" for snacking while you're having Sidra or your favorite libation. The Montera Picona serves multiple brands of bottles of Cider (Sidra) available. They have grilled meats, along with Asturias classics and modern takes of classic dishes, for lunch and dinner. The service is typical for the region, fast, efficient with few pleasantries exchanged. There are outdoor tables available as well as inside tables and inside bar. It's a great option when you're in the area, or make a trip to here for a room notch experience.

Best place to see Bigote de Mujer live
We were there with my husband and were charmed by the place. The food was great, the atmosphere was friendly, and the music was lovely. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Great experience, delicious and high-quality food, reasonable prices for the quality, and good portions. The cider sangria was excellent. The only downside: For the number of people in our dining room (two tables of about 12 and one table of about 30), we could have used a few more waiters because the service was a bit slow. Aside from that, overall, 10/10. All the staff were friendly and pleasant. We'll be back.
They have two set menus to choose from, both priced at 26 euros on Saturdays. One is the Asturian menu, which includes an appetizer, Asturian stew (pote asturiano), veal escalope with potatoes, and rice pudding. This menu is quite substantial, as the stew is a hearty Asturian dish with traditional accompaniments like blood sausage, bacon, and chorizo. The escalope is also a generous portion, and the best part is the dessert: refreshing rice pudding. The other menu offers a choice of several dishes, such as stuffed asparagus as a starter, green beans as a first course, sea bream baked in salt as a second course, and rice pudding for dessert. As mentioned, the price is 26 euros, including drinks and bread.
There were nine of us for dinner (we each paid €27). The ham croquettes were standard, but a generous portion. The baby squid were perfectly cooked. Both cachopos were very good; the "Puxa Asturies" (a traditional Asturian dish) was a pleasant surprise. The dessert platter included five different desserts, with the rice pudding being a standout. The waiter (Leonardo) was very friendly and kept us entertained with a great sense of humor.
Great prices and value, great service. The terrace is nice as it has a playground for the children.
Nice food and wine. You can enjoy tapas when ordering a drink, mostly during lunch time. Seating inside and outside under a covered terrace for those wanting to sit outside. Clean toilets, as well as separate one for the disabled.
Sidreria grande.
The food was mediocre at best. There were two of us: tuna belly salad (enormous), fresh squid (bad), and picanha (average). The service left much to be desired. The waiter who took our order gave us a long story about how they were going to Fitur the next day to "pour" (a tourism fair) to "pour cider for the people of Madrid"... We asked three different waiters for bread, and it finally arrived with the last course. They pour very little cider. They saw us pouring and still didn't. They didn't seem to be in any hurry to fill tables. The best thing was the ice cream that came with the La Viña cake.
Weekend in Gijón. There are several set menus. The restaurant is nicer than the food. The waiter was a bit clumsy and served customers with a cold and without a mask. The price of the set menu would be fine if the food were decent, but for Asturias, the portions were a bit small. By the way, it was cold. There are a thousand better options in Gijón.
My companion is blind. She leaves a croquette and some potatoes on her plate and asks the waiter where he's going to put the second course. It's very simple: put it on the platter or change the plate. Everything Ramón makes is terrible. For example, the baby squid is awful and overpriced. He charges extra just for adding his name to a dish. I didn't like it.
Service was so so. Server seemed angry and prices were high. Good food tho.
27€ for one portion of fries and portion of 12 croquettes?!?
I had high expectations. The cheese board was poor. The mixed grill was meager, the cheese was hidden and lumpy in the potatoes, and the pork tenderloin was undercooked. The grill was cold. There were 30 minutes between courses. I'm sorry, but that's the reality of my experience. The flavor of everything was good, but it's a shame about the rest. I don't understand it; it's a place with potential. It just needs someone in charge who knows what they're doing.
Prices 👎 Service 👎👎👎
They charged us more than the prices listed on the menu for the cachopo (€29) and the chorizo in cider (€7). It's true that when I checked the online menu, it said there was a 15% surcharge per dish for terrace service, which I find very excessive. A fixed charge of €1.50 or €3 is one thing, but for a cachopo to cost €5 more depending on whether it's served inside or outside... Anyway, I think they're taking advantage of the situation because it's not very clear and I don't see it as a common practice. The food was very good, though.
