The food was good, as was the service. I will not be returning as it's a bit of a drive for me coming from Suffolk County.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Florence, the pizza was out of this world, we tried the spaghetti alla carbonara del Chianti and it was mind blowing the combination of flavors, the pizza has nothing to envy other famous pizzeria in Florence, we tried the burratina, with fresh tomato sauce, burrata cheese and prosciutto, I highly recommend it, service was excellent!!!

What a treat, wonderous staff, fantastic food that was expert in preparation. And the Jazz combo on Mondays at 7pm can't be beat. The owner is gracioius and kind. When my Uber did not show up, he offered to drive me home! What a Gem. Can't wait to go back with friends and fam.

La bussola celebrated its 42nd birthday and they knocked prices down to 1980 prices on all Mondays in April. I had the veal chop bussola. Which was tender and delicious my wife had a shrimp dish which she loved even though the prices were knocked down the service and quality and quantity was not. We also got baked clams and calamari with red sauce which also was really good!

Go hungry. The grilled calamari and grilled octopus are very good. I had the Osso Buco and it was a very generous portion, and a great choice. Bonus that they have parking.

A five star Italian place in Glen Cove? OMG YES. Maitre d' Carlo and his executive chef brother Marco inherited the family business. This is no low brow pizza joint. It is the finest of dining -- and yes, you pay for it -- for a fickle foodie. My first visit here was at the recommendation of a funeral director after my beloved stepmother passed away. When Carlo mentioned Zabaglione was a dessert special of the day, I was sold even before the olive oil and fresh bread were set on the white tablecloth. Darn, she would have loved it. We returned when my father passed away. Now it is our only destination for excellent five star Italian food. Go ahead, you take Manhattan. Me, I'll take La Bussola, a table near Carlo, and Marco in the kitchen, and die very happy.

Gem of Glen Cove. Excellent ambiance, martini, food was delicious, and perfect for our romantic dinner. Super loved that there's no music playing just the din of conversation and enjoyment.

I had my daughter's bridal shower at La Bussola two years ago and I was so pleased, I had her baby shower there in March of 2019, two weeks ago. Carlo is such a pleasure to work with and he is very helpful in planning the menu. We had the larger room from 1-5 and the guests are still contacting me to tell me how delicious the food was. I served the Napoleon cake and was told by one guest that it was the best she has ever had. The waitstaff is excellent. I chose the package with the hot antipasti and unlimited wine and soda. The cappucinos were wonderful. They even provided three high chairs for some little ones. The Veal Sorrentino seemed to be a favorite. I would highly recommend La Bussola for your next event.

I love the food and outdoor experience here! Though I try to get a table as far away from the others as possible. The servers are great for it though, they really make my day better. Though I am still trying not to eat out as often.

Excellent service from start to finish enjoyable dining experience. Complimentary cheese peppers tomatoes and sausage w bread was welcome surprise the halibut light fresh cooked to perfection. Pasta was full of vegetables and light. Definitely will be back.

If you want authentic Italian food, this is the place to go. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Mozzarella Fritta. The service is very good and I’ve never had a long wait when I’ve gone here.

This place is amazing for Italian food. Everything is great. The only thing I'd like to see different is the dessert menu. New York Cheesecake, Lava Cake, and a Creme Brulee would be a nice touch since the experience is so awesome.

I had a great experience here last night to celebrate my anniversary. We just moved to the area and happened upon this place on a whim. They have nice outdoor seating, and worked quickly and effortlessly to move us inside when it started raining. We had octopus as an appetizer (highly recommend if you like octopus and pesto), and two specials. The entrees were HUGE, and I'm really excited to eat leftovers for lunch today :) Carlo took the time to talk to us and welcome us to the neighborhood even though the place was busy, and I really appreciated that! His son Brandon was our server, and he was super nice. I liked the family atmosphere the restaurant provided. We highly recommend this place for a great meal and even better conversation!

We just had my son and daughter in law’s rehearsal dinner there Thursday 8/10/23. What an amazing restaurant!! From booking the event with Carmelo and following up with David with the menu you couldn’t ask for more. David’s suggestions for the menu and him taking care of special requests I asked for, he is an ultimate professional. The food, staff, service and atmosphere was outstanding!! We had 58 guests at the dinner and everyone of them commented how great everything was. I recommend La Bussola for any event you need without hesitation! Awesome! Just awesome! I had the seafood salad appetizer and it was so fresh and delicious. After I had the Bronzino and again absolutely delicious. My table had ordered a lot of appetizers since we were a party of 16 so I got to try many different dishes and each of them was fresh and delicious. You can tell when a restaurant is using frozen shellfish or frozen apps they deep fry but this place made everything fresh. The fried zucchinis were definitely cut by hand, breaded/battered and fried to order. The stuff mushrooms were garlicky and savory. The octopus was incredible with a nice crisp to the skin and was served in a pesto that was amazing. You Must try this place

Great Italian Cuisine Served in a classic manner. Great, knowledgeable waiter. Good selection of specials in addition to the menu. Manager stopped by to inquire how we we're doing. It is on the more expensive side versus other nearby restaurants, but they are worth it, and I don't say that lightly.

Spectacular service!! So friendly and accommodating to our requests. Cute place. Food was delicious! We got the calamari appetizer, steak briciole, veal Margherita, and they were able to do a shrimp scampi upon request. Bread was also great! Briciole was a favorite as the red sauce was rich and flavorful. Missing a drink menu other than a wine menu of mostly just bottles, but that is the only complaint as the bar is fully stocked. We will be back to try more!

What a Gem 💎 on the island 🏝️ in Glen Cove. We are coming all the way from Throggs Neck just to eat at La Bussola for an Authentic Italian Experience! We were greeted by Carlo who makes you feel like you are part of the family. Speaking of family this is a family business that apparently has been around since 1957 I’m just upset I’m just finding out about this now. We had the anti-pasta which was amazing the baked clams and the Octopus which was grilled perfectly. I can’t wait to try the calamari next. Not enough room after the perfectly cooked Stracciatella which is very hard to find now a days. My wife and my sisters husband both did the traditional Sunday sauce with spaghetti and meatballs and sausage and it was the best we’ve had this year. We just missed the Braciole which they occasionally do. Delicious is an understatement. I had the Fruite de Mare which was lovely as depicted in the photo. Everything was paired with a nice wine that was recommended by Carlo and was better than the original wine I was going to choose. I almost didn’t want to write a great review because I want to keep this place all to myself! lol but Carlo def deserves it. Buon Appetito!

Visiting NYC from Houston…if you live/visit the Glen Cove/Port Washington area, do not dine ANYWHERE but here! We spent two weeks in Italy, and were overjoyed to experience the same beautiful quality of food at La Bussola! The owner and wait staff are so warm and welcoming! We will be back again & again! I wish I had photos of all the food from my daughter’s christening reception, but of course we were too busy eating it. Ambiance was wonderful and quaint. Service was friendly and attentive. We had our engagement party here, and it was something we will never forget. From the beginning of the process, Carlo was extremely thoughtful, flexible, and accommodating. He made us feel like family!! We had always come here for dinner before because live very close by, the food was always outstanding. Well, it totally lived up to the standard even with a large event. It’s been weeks and my family is still raving about the food. They also allowed us to have vendors come in to make the room ours… long story short they made our dreams come true. Very pleasant Sunday night outside dinner. Food was prepared perfectly. Grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes and pesto was perfect. Good portions are large, prices are fair and service is excellent. Eating outside is pleasant though the table legs make seating a little uncomfortable.

Coming from great-cooking Italian ancestry, I've always struggled with finding an Italian restaurant that I truly enjoy. My Sicilian father and I both agree that La Bussola offers great, authentic tasting Italian food. It may be weird to say, but they have a great Caesar Salad with delicious tasting dressing (not too heavy). This is a nice place to take Italian family members who are hard to please with restaurant dining. Of course this is a great place for people of every nationality as well!

Food was a little dry but good, pretty good service

Food was good. Service very slow, we were the only customer. What was.upsetting, we were never told that their was a $ 20.00 charge to serve the cake we brought. We told them when we made our reservation & when there we asked for plates & forks. He insisted to cut it, but never mentioned a charge. What was upsetting was that we were never told of the charge, so to me it's a moral thing.

Service was attentive, personable, & friendly. Food was rich in flavor and yummy. Seafood is very good (halibut, clams and calamari, but the portions were not very generous depending on the entree you ordered..

It was my first time at La Bussola, and it was a very good experience all around. I'm looking forward to dining there very soon to taste other dishes!

I felt this place exceeded expectations considering the circumstances; I was with a large party and it was probably tough getting all the orders out at once. Starting from the beginning, we were seated right away since we had a reservation which was nice. The server was very friendly and happy to answer all menu related questions. We started off with some appetizers that did not last very long. We got the stuffed mushrooms, calamari, and mozzarella balls. The Mozzarella was delicious and I like that they made them bite sized as opposed to traditional mozzarella sticks. The calamari was okay, and they gave a generous amount of bread for the table. I did not get to try the stuffed mushrooms, but they did look good. Our server really did well as I was a bit torn on what to order. I was curious if some of their chicken dishes came with breaded chicken. He stated that the select dishes were grilled, but that they can do a traditional chicken parm for me. This was not even on the menu and they accommodated which is greatly appreciated. They also gave a big portion; I was full after which is exactly what I want. It is great for food to taste good, but I was absolutely satisfied on top of that. The chicken was good and went well with the spaghetti; one of the better chicken parms I had this year so far. I really appreciate it when servers make suggestions because it shows they want the customer to be happy, not just doing the bare minimum. They brought out chocolate cake for the birthday peeps which was nice. I tried some and it was good. I am not a fan of chocolate cake in general, but hey it was not my birthday and I am glad it was enjoyed. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here for some great italian food. I was worried I may need to order multiple things to be full, but this was not the case. Delicious food, good portions, and definitely a place I would return to.

Too pricey! I've had better Italian food than this place. They accidentally overcharged me by $35. I don't know how they made that mistake. They need to itemize their bill as they just made up a scribbled list of items and made up a price for them. Also, lots of bread, but small entree dishes is their way of making a lot of money.

2 out of every 3 dishes was very good. One dish was so bad no one wanted to eat it. We didn't get a chance to try dessert because the waiter never asked us if we wanted anything. We never had an opportunity to get a second drink. Not even a refill of our Pellegrino. The service was awful. We had to go find our waiter to get the check after waiting 20 minutes at an empty table with no drinks or food. We went to a different restaurant for dessert since La Bussola was obviously not interested in serving theirs.

With a reservation, it took 45min to seat us. By the time we were served, was short of an hour later. Never go there on a holiday!

Upon calling my husband recieved a hurrendous attitude, but made a reservation anyway. I called giving the person the benefit of the doubt and nicely asked about any feature dishes, but I recieved the same rude attitude on the phone so I proceeded to cancel our reservation and take our business elsewhere. Only giving an extra star because reading the reviews the food sounds great. Too bad the person answering the phone ruined the experience before arriving to the establishment.

Everything about this was horrible. 20 minute wait despite reservation. Another half hour before we even saw a menu. Not so much as a sorry. And food was mediocre. Don't go!

Called to make a reservation and when I asked for a time slot was told “you’re just now calling for that? Good luck man.” When I continued to try make one for a different day was hung up on before I could attempt. Was excited to try this place, but not anymore.

I cannot believe this restaurant has such glowing reviews because it is truly one of the worst places I’ve been to in ages. My husband and I were in town for a wedding and wanted to have a nice meal. Because La Bussola had great reviews we decided to try it. The whole restaurant has the feel of a formerly nice place that’s been left to rot. The women’s restroom had no toilet paper in either stall, no paper towels, and a single bottle of hand soap that had been watered down to the point where it was useless. The food was the quality you’d expect at a mediocre neighborhood pizza joint, which would have been okay had it not been priced like fine dining. The final nail in the coffin was my linguine vongole, which was made with rubbery canned clams and cost a whopping $27. For those kinds of prices I expect the clams to be fresh and in the shell. I would expect a pasta with canned clams to cost $15 at most. Our total bill was $120 for some of the most disappointing food I’ve had in years.

They do not like outsiders. We were treated horrible. Waiter making fun of us with locals at the bar. My friend and I both dress very well we're both very pretty girls and we were ordering full lobsters. It was absolutely a horrible experience we ended up paying for the food that we had already received and left.
