Mod India Restaurant

We’re visiting my husband’s family and they often go to this lovely family owned Indian restaurant and have always been impressed by the service and food. Atmosphere was quiet on a Tuesday night. Much cuter inside than would be expected from the exterior location. We ordered the puffed rice (bhei poori) and asked for a recommendation for a second appetizer that would be mild. Our server suggested the tangi eggplant, which was so crunchy, like a cracker, with some tamarind sauce. The bhei poori is what we’d consider medium spice but probably mild to others. Lovely blend of flavors and textures. I eat primarily plant based so ordered the dal fry and he said they could make less spicy since it usually comes medium. They succeeded and there was just a small hint of heat which was perfect for me. We planned to share so after they chose tikka masala and a creamy veggie dish, we asked him for another suggestion between two options. He suggested the saag paneer, as providing a better range of colors and flavors. **update 2025 Returned for another visit and the food and service is still top notch. This time I tried the tandoori chicken and although they said it’s medium, I found it wasn’t spicy at all to me, and definitely far less than the places near me. The chicken was also far juicier than I’d expected and the sauce served on the side was delicious. We tried the chocolate naan for dessert which was probably Nutella and tasted like a Nutella crepe. Delicious! **original 2023 review With a couple orders of naan, plus the lovely basmati rice, we could only eat half of the generous portions and brought the rest home. Everything was delicious and we particularly appreciated all the help in selecting off the extensive menu.

Wanted Indian cuisine on a whim. Truly a great find! The customer service was amazing, we felt very welcome from the moment we walked in the door. The food was wonderful, service was quick, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We will definitely be back.

When you see this restaurant in a budget hotel, your thoughts go in all sorts of directions. There is only one direction to go in… inside to have an amazing meal!! This was our second terrific meal at Mod India. I’ve been eating Indian food since I was a child and it’s a rare opportunity to be able to find a menu that breaks the mold and has dishes that are different from those you are used to eating your whole life in the United States. Obviously, they still have all the classics on the menu, but it’s worth taking a deeper dive into dishes with more complex flavors and sauces. Service is attentive and solicitous - something we experienced both times we were here. The servers really knew the dishes they were describing. My kids really love the Makahni (butter) chicken. The palak chat appetizer is unusual and amazing!

The food is delicious! Staff are very friendly and attentive. I've had takeout from here a few times, and tonight finally dined in. This is the only Indian restaurant I've tried that I love (it's a 35 minute drive for me, but so worth it). This place is tucked away and needs more signage by the main road, but i highly recommend dining here. (Picture shown is Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandoori Chicken)

After holiday food, I was craving Indian cuisine and Mod totally and perfectly satisfied my taste buds. It's conveniently located off 202 & Baltimore Pike with ample parking. I called for a reservation and was seated immediately upon arrival. They welcomed me with warm, friendly smiles. The fabulous aromas of curry, tandoori sizzlers and many other spices greet you as soon as you open the door!! I ordered Clos du Bois Chardonnay to accompany my garlic chili naan, Pindi chana masala and chicken vindaloo. The Naan was perfect with a crisp and both entrées were delicious!! The heat (spicy level) was equally enjoyable-- in other words but too spicy. The BEST part about my experience other than EVERYTHING BEING PERFECT, I was serenaded by thier live music singer. If I closed my eyes, I could swear I was in India enjoying the songs, the food and the staff. Thank you Mod for making my day after Christmas thoroughly enjoyable ❣️❣️❣️

Whenever I need to be in this area for an extended stay, I’m here at Mod India at least once every two days for the chicken korma and the amazing tamarind and mint chutney that comes with the papadum. It’s always delicious and it’s nice to unwind in a very relaxing atmosphere. The personnel are very friendly and the service is extremely fast.

This was our first time visit here. Though they were open only for takeouts, they still allowed us to dine in. Me and my husband were completely satisfied with the food and service in a pleasant atmosphere. We had a mouthwatering bhel poori for dine in and delicious tandoori chicken tikka to go. I am definitely sure they prepare everything fresh as my to go dish tasted as fresh as it was cooked just now even after reaching home. I will recommend this place to all my friends. Try out soon guys and you won't be disappointed for sure.❤

The food here is incredible. They serve both Indian food and Thai food and it’s perfect every time. We come every Thursday and they have a large menu with plenty options. They also do happy hour Sunday to Thursday 5-7 with drink specials. Highly recommend. It’s the best Indian food we have ever had (including when we were living in Philadelphia).

Amazing food and great portions. Price is surprisingly affordable. Bread basket is highly recommended. My family had a great dinner together.

The food at Mod India is flavorful and has just the right amount of spice. We had the vegetarian samosas, pakoras, chicken korma, chicken saag, and garlic naan. The only criticism I’d have of the food is that the samosa wrapper was a bit thick and not as crispy as we would have liked. Don’t be deterred by the outside appearance. It is on a rundown corner and attached to a hotel. Inside it is well decorated and the food is worth it.

Always a treat eating my fav North Indian delicacies. Wonderful host and very attentive staff. Kudos to the chef for his wonderful preparations !!!!!

I’ve passed this place a million times since moving to the area and only came in because a nearby spot was closed. Wow… I’ve been missing out. We went with our usual stuff; chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, garlic naan and samosas. For desert we had gulab jamun. Solid, solid, solid. They didn’t have Chicken 65 so we went with Chili Chicken and it did not disappoint. Now that we know this place is solid, we’ll be back to try all new things. They have tons of naan variations that are peaking my interest. Easily an underrated but 5-star spot.

Really good Indian food, with a great menu. Delicious samosas, papadum, kebab, vindaloo, everything was delicious.

I been wanting to go to this restaurant for a very long time but it was hard to find where it was actually at it’s on the backside of where Hooters so I went for the first time yesterday it was the most amazing experience I ever had the owner greeted me and my mother with open arms it was amazing she was so sweet she kept coming up to us making sure everything was good I highly recommend this place and I’m gonna bring them a lot of business because the way I was welcome there I’ve never got treated like this in a restaurant before . And to top it all the food was phenomenal. I give this place five stars

Had an amazing meal and experience. Food came out rather quickly, i was happy about than but once i started eating i was blown away. Some of the most flavorful Indian food i have ever had.

Awesome new restaurant! We got hakka noodles, chicken 65, rogan josh and a ton more. The portions and quality are great for the price.

While traveling to Philadelphia last night, we came across this restaurant and had dinner. Our expectations were surpassed at every level. Food, atmosphere, and staff were all superb! Our entrees were biryanis, saag, and vindaloo. The three of us shared a sampling with each other. As we had no prior knowledge about this particular restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised to find the BEST tasting Indian food we have ever had! I am not one to write reviews, but with the fact that I have eaten Indian cuisine from west coast to east coast, north to south, this restaurant is hands down the finest I have come across in every aspect, from food to service, in this great nation! HIGHLY recommend!

I’ve only been here once for a work dinner but I had such a good experience! The food was delicious, I swear the lamb korghi I got was probably one of the best things i’ve ever eaten. All of the naan types were great and perfect to dip in the korghi sauce. I loved the eggplant appetizer, the cabbage appetizer, and the chili paneer (the chili paneer was the spiciest). The Masala chai was nice, lots of spices at the bottom. The service was great, they were fast and accommodating and very pleasant. Overall, it was a great place and I would definitely return.

First google review and I'm immensely disappointed already. I wish I could give Mod India a 11/10. They deserve it! Sure, the food and service is top notch, but the atmosphere is what keeps me coming back for more. It's my favorite Indian restaurant ever!

I had my birthday dinner here and everything was so beyond amazing!!! Extreme friendliness and hospitality as soon as you walked in and such a beautiful space. We were recommend food items and everything was so delicious. On top of this the restaurant sang me a happy birthday, and then went out of their way to gift me a dessert to take home. I can’t recommend this place more and will definitely be back! The staff was so so kind and friendly, I can’t wait to come back soon.

The food was SOOOO good! Atmosphere was very upscale while prices were great. Great gluten free options. Got breads, 2 drinks and 4 different platters/apps for 75$. The staff were very helpful, kind and appreciative. We will definitely be back.

My 91 year old mom and I go to Mod India Restaurant and it NEVER disappoints. The food is so fresh and cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Salmon Tikka is outstanding, along with their salads and Garlic Naan Bread. The customer service is top notch and all the staff is so very friendly and they truly work as a cohesive team. One of our favorite restaurants in Glen Mills and the best Indian Restaurant in the area. Well done Mod India!!😊

I love this restaurant, I must eat here every time I'm in town. They put a great deal of care into the food they make, it's always delicious, and the staff is very friendly and helpful if you're not that familiar with the cuisine. The atmosphere is very nice and welcoming, and is quiet enough to carry on a conversation. If you like Indian food, you won't be disappointed!

We had our cat with us so we ate our food in their outdoor seating. We ordered paneer chili, tandoori platter, Dhaba Style chicken curry and Garlic Naan. Paneer Chili was really good, tandoori platter had shrimp salmon chicken lamb it was Okayish could have been better. We got some makhani sauce and white rice with the platter, it would have been nice if we get some mint chutney. Dhaba style chicken was not that impressive but garlic naan was amazing. Overall food was good. Would love to visit again the ambience is really good. Outside seating ambiance was also good, it had nice lights. Service was very quick even after the restaurant was fully packed. Staff was polite and helpful. It was a good experience overall. Would visit again for sure.

The restaurant was hard to find! We passed it three times before realizing it was on the side of the hotel. There is some limited seating outdoors. The decor inside is modern with black walls and white accents. There is a bar but no alcohol is served at this restaurant. We dove right in, ordering our typical go-tos. Korma with vegetables - one spicy and one mild for me. The spice level is definitely noticeable as I was given the spicy bowl by accident. Otherwise once I was able to dig into my curry boy I was very surprised! The flavor this mild curry brought was outstanding. The vegetables were perfectly cooked with a nice bite! The saag was interesting as well! It was ordered with chicken and it was still very juicy and not over cooked. The naans were the highlights of the meal! I loved the garlic naan so much. This is because I always like to skip on the rice and dip the naan in the curry instead. I highly recommend this restaurant to other Indian food lovers in the area!

We always look for good Indian food in the area. We have been visiting their other restaurants pretty regularly and we like their food so we visited Mod India couple of times. Over all we loved their food! Perhaps the best Indian restaurant in the area! I rated them 4 and not 5, just because of their price. I think considering the area food price they are slightly overpriced. Their presentation is amazing, 5 out of 5. Trust me, we tried Saag Paneer at many places and very few places actually make Saag Paneer where they add some METHI BHAAJI (Fenugreek leaves) to Spinach. I thought their saag Paneer was slightly on the bigger side, perhaps they could reduce the amount of Methi and balance it with the Spinach. Bhel portion was very small! It is fancy though but doesn't taste that good. Other two appetizers were very Delicious!! Naans were very fresh. We will surely visit again!

Chicken biryani is well prepared, with tender chicken and many spicy bursts throughout. The Bombay naan is an excellent side with it. The servers are attentive, too, regularly politely checking in on us without being disruptive. We were directed to Mod by signs at the former location of Rasa, just across Route 1. This will be our new favorite local Indian spot.

The food quality is good. I ordered a tikka masala (with chicken) and makhani (with paneer) and both were really nice. There was a good balance of authentic indian spices and both paneer and chicken were fresh. The prices are a bit on the higher side though.

Friends took us here and the meal and company were perfect. IMHO a little pricey but no more than usual Indian fine dine in fare. Im vegetarian and thought they had fewer than normal or Limited vegetarian menu with many more meat options.

Great place. The restaurant has a very soothing ambience with good drinks to choose from their bar. The food arrived in time and servers were accomodating of our requests. Taking 2 stars off for the food as the curries were a little less flavourful and bland (might be idle if one dosn’t like too spicy), contrary to how the Indian food usually is. The breads were thick and there was too much food color in curry. The food quality needs some improvement to justify price. Our overall experience was good.

Asked for the chicken vindaloo mid spice… the guy said that it was the spiciest thing on the menu ok. cool. It came out mind you i asked mid spice, it was essentially chicken and potato in tomato sauce no spices at all I essentially ate chicken and rice with tomato sauce

Their Paneer is not prepared “authenticity” in a clay oven like Shar e Punjab prepares theirs! The Paneer lacks flavor and is quite small in comparison to other restaurants nearby!

Waited over an hour and a half for takeout order even though I ordered at the bar and waited at the bar. When I got my food, it looked like someone dumped coriander on my bread and there was no potato in my aloo paratha. Overall steer clear!
