We visited Snyder’s Tavern in Glen Rose, TX and absolutely loved it. The food has that comforting homemade taste that makes the whole experience feel special. The service was excellent, and the place has a beautiful view that works perfectly for couples and for families. The fried dish we ordered was incredible. It was perfectly crispy, and the bourbon flavor in the meat together with the bacon created a rich and delicious balance. We also tried the chicken with sauce. It had a nice and well balanced flavor, although the meat was our favorite. For dessert, the vegan ice cream was surprisingly good, but the true standout was the ricotta cake. The touch of orange sweetness gives it the perfect balance. Another great plus is that they offer options for vegans and for people who are lactose intolerant or gluten sensitive. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and we truly recommend stopping by this restaurant.
We went here for dinner and it was incredible. Pam the owner was so kind, and was so knowledgeable about her home and the hotel that she and her husband own. She sat with us and chatted and then she graciously showed us the hotel as well. I HIGHLY recommend this place, so go and treat yourself to a view, great food, and even better company. Thanks Pam!
We have had a wonderful experience. Bring your chill so you can relax and enjoy this European approach to dining. The food is cooked after you order, so plan to spend some time here. We sat on the patio so we could enjoy the breeze and views of the river. See photos. I ordered the Bavarian Burger for the German experience: 8oz pattie, mustard, sauerkraut (perfection), apple slices, bacon, and cheddar. Note: the burgers are lean, so plan that into your cooking choice. I chose medium, but might do medium-rare next time. This was a flavorful and delightful eating experience. I will definitely order this burger again. My wife ordered the Branzino: pan seared with a pistachio lemon-lime coating. Stunningly good. Worth asking about this dish ahead of time. Some fish are easier to get than others. There are viable options if they are out of the Branzino. We both ordered veg sides. We both had Brussels sprouts and found them tasty. My wife also ordered the broccoli. We agreed both were delicious. These two veggies are prepared as crunchy. Some people prefer “fork tender.” So, if you are one of those, it would be worth a conversation at time of ordering. I found the service to be excellent and believe they would accommodate reasonable cooking preferences.
The burgers are HUGE here! We are talking an inch thick, easy for the patty. They have a great menu of unique burgers and dinner items. We had the sweet potato fries as our side, yum! The waitresses are great and took excellent care of us the whole meal through. The property is beautiful and the patio seating overlooks the river. They have fans over the patio tables making it a pleasant area outside. This is the third time I have been here and the food as been on point each time. Can’t wait to visit again and try a new burger!
Great service from Scott and staff (unfortunately didn’t caught the names of the two young waitresses that helped us, but they were amazing!) This establishment is super dog friendly, staff brought our pets a water bowl and gave them treats(they did ask permission beforehand)! , has an outside patio (shaded with fans) for pet parents! :) prices are extremely cheap for the riverside seating you receive and the fantastic food (personally had the ultimate burger with goat cheese, jalapeños, avocado, and typical burger toppings with sweet potato fries), they had an excellent beer selection as well! (i had 3 different beers that were all recommendations from Scott), the establishment is a bit difficult to see from the street but does have private parking if you pull into a small driveway beside the Inn! :) we were able to bring our pups right down to the river for a swim, they also have trees that keep the grass area shaded, you’re able to have a nice relaxing sit by the river and not get brunt by the sun! We will definitely recommend and return anytime we’re in the area! :))
Spent the day in Glenrose, we wanted to try something different than the normal chain restaurant. Very cute little restaurant right on the river, staff was amazing and food was even better. I had the shrimp tacos with fries and my friend have the Summer burger. They also cater to gluten sensitive, which is a huge plus for me. We will definitely be back again!

Popped in for dinner after a long day of touristy things. What a great little find! Beautiful view of the river, staff were so kind, everything was fresh and you can tell they don’t cut corners with their food or drinks. Great cocktail menu. Even the kids meal was delicious with perfectly fresh strawberries as the fruit side option.
When you have dietary restrictions, finding good meals is always tricky when traveling through small towns, but I was very glad to find Snyder's Tavern. I had several vegan options to choose from and my meal was delicious with friendly service! Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free options available make this place ready for travelers and groups!
We have owned property in Glen Rose for 21 years and did not know about this place. We have been missing out. Exceptional food. We had burgers (multiple options), redfish and the fish and chips. The service was very good. Friendly. We had a visit from the chef. Quite the wonderful surprise. We will definitely be back.
Great spot in Glen Rose, which also includes many vegan and vegetarian options! Good food, good atmosphere, kid friendly, couple TVs for the sports fan and right on the river. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Very accommodating for celiac and gluten free food options. Fried mozzarella bites were the best we ever had. We will definitely be coming back!
Nice restaurant with beautiful views, friendly staff and excellent food and service! We were very happy with our delicious meals and highly recommend! A hidden gem! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The food is great especially the burgers and they have many to choose from. The cocktails are strong and tasty and the service is wonderful. Prices are about the same as most places. The atmosphere is wonderful, right on the river. Can't wait to go back and try some other dishes.
I hate to even put this out there because once you go, you can’t wait to go back! Gorgeous atmosphere sitting right on the river next to the beautiful lawn of the Inn. We take our Lab and they bring her cold water on the porch where we love to sit. The menu is creative and everything that we have tried has been delicious! Just save us a seat! Oh, the water is filtered!!!
Amazing food, atmosphere and service! Bavarian burger and fries were outstanding, and so was my delicious margarita. 😋

This place is such a gem! The drinks were amazing and the food was phenomenal. Taylor, our waitress, was the best part :) Thoroughly recommend checking this place (and the inn) out!
A wonderful little nook tucked away behind the Inn, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the people ( by that I mean the STAFF)! And the food? I had the Taste of Summer Burger, it was absolutely delicious. I look forward to coming back here!

The whipped lemonade drink is off the charts. It is so good the lemon and the cream and vodka come together. It is so smooth. Tavern baja tacos were also very good, the sliced avocados made it just over the top. I tried the fish & chips and I would love to have it again. This is the best fish & chips I've had. The fish was fresh. The malt vinegar was a dry dusting not a liquid, so it did not cause the fish to be soggy. The service was very friendly.I highly recommend this place. We will eat here again trying to sample the rest of the menu, which is extensive.
Overall, the food was good and tasty. The only issue was the Pork Loin had raw or uncooked portions. I pointed it out to the waitress during checkout, who seemed concerned. I did not stay long after that seeking a discount, or other compensation.
The smash burger was great, the brisket anything was really greasy or atleast tasted fatty...sorry. live music was great and outside dining was nice by the river. ;-)
HIGHLY upset with my experience recently for a wedding. I find this establishment is vastly over priced, especially for the quality you recieve and their menu is all over the place. Pad Thai, Greek, American all in one place? We spent $77 before tax and tip on 2 Ultimate Burgers, 1 kid slider, 2 kids tenders and some drinks. 4 of these drinks came to us in cans, for $3 each which is asinine. This order had one meal completely forgotten about and a drink misplaced. I was understanding at first but at this point, I no longer am. We were informed they wanted the wedding attendees to start a a tab which would put a hold on our debit cards; this typically would be understandable. What isn’t is that we were NOT informed that the hold was for $200 and they have no clue when the amount would be adjusted. If you need access to your hard earned income, pay in cash or make damn sure you don’t open a tab. I definitely do not think they are equipped to host events such as parties and weddings. It was absolute chaos. So, now, my family and I are recovering from food poisoning and trying to deal with financial confusion while we are in Texas trying to see family before heading to Alaska on military orders. Thank you Snyders Tavern for the sickness and stress. Definitely don’t recommend eating here. She is also not afraid to leave snarky comments saying how she could not give someone food poisoning and claims to have never done so before. Apparently, she unaware how food poisoning works and thinks that everyone has the bravery to report it when they do have it. Sadly, most people don’t report food poisoning or don’t realize that is what is happening with their bodies when it develops. Update as of August 20th. She refunded me. But as you can see from her comment, she now doesn’t want to address pretty much anything but money. She wants to play victim because she doesn’t like negative reviews. You can see here we are NOT the only negative review she’s received and she is just as snotty to those reviewers. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t leave their negative experiences because they don’t want confrontation. I am not scared of that. At the end of the day, my family and I were on leave from military movement to visit and enjoy my mom’s wedding, which was clouded over by this nonsense. I don’t believe the owner is well suited for business ownership. She chooses to hide behind a kind act and then throw it in your face if you have something bad happen. To me, that shows lack of character and how ill meaning the kind act truly was. I hope the owner has learned from this experience.
I ordered the big mack which is a burger with Mac and cheese plus bacon and the patty was not season and the mac and cheese was more like my 8yr made it. I was disappointed also on the double bourbon beef roll ups which were also lacking season. My daughter couldn’t eat her kids plate chicken tenders because they were flavorless and were sagging. Very high price but no quality I’m not sure if they had a different cook back there but this not what we were expecting considering the good reviews I read before coming to this place. The atmosphere was good and service was not bad but my daughter told me not to bring her here again. I had to ordered Pizza Hut for her because she couldn’t eat her food.

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but our entire family was very disappointed with both the quality of the food, and the amount of food we received for how expensive it was. 18 dollars for 3 mini tacos (with no side) 12 dollars for a normal sized stuffed potato (might as well go to Sexton's Mill to get one to get twice as much as we got here) 3 dollars for a small scoop of mac and cheese 15 dollars for a bland tasting gyro with BURNT sweet potato fries. I really don't recommend this place. Hopefully this is a wake up call for the owner.

Absolutely terrible experience. I ordered a medium-well steak (thin pink line in the center) and was served a completely overcooked, well-done steak. When I asked for a refund, the staff acted like I was asking for $50 instead of $6 and were incredibly rude about it. Their apology was half-hearted at best. After driving 2 hours to eat here, I left appalled. With over 10 years in the restaurant industry, I can say with confidence this place has zero respect for its customers. I will never step foot in Snyder’s Tavern again.

We had a party of eight and walked in with well over an hour before closing. Instead of a welcome, the owner’s very first words were: “I’m just going to tell you right now, it’s going to take a long time to get your food.” That was the greeting — not “Hi,” not “Thanks for coming in,” just a warning that we were apparently a problem. We weren’t asking for anything special, just to be treated like customers, not intruders. The whole vibe made it clear we weren’t wanted. If large groups aren’t welcome, the restaurant should say so up front instead of making guests feel like a burden. We ended up leaving — because honestly, who wants to spend their money somewhere that acts annoyed you walked through the door? There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that actually appreciate their customers. This just isn’t one of them.
