Great food, drinks, and an amazing dining experience. We only needed some snacks and drinks for our meetings, but it went far beyond my expectations. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was modern and chic. I especially loved the décor.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Rupert Brooke in Cambridge. The menu was excellent, with a great variety of well-prepared dishes that really hit the spot. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was equally impressive—friendly, attentive, and delivered with a smile. A perfect spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Highly recommended! This isn’t our first visit here and it certainly won’t be the last!

My husband & I had such a delicious meal at The Rupert Brooke on the weekend! 10/10 service, 10/10 food!! The space is so elevated for a truly excellent dinner out. Thanks so much to all the lovely staff for making our evening amazing!

Revisited today to try the new summer menu. The bass with summer broth and sweet potato crisp is phenomenal – like a work of art from Chef Matthew. The roast dinner is excellent, with perfectly cooked meat, crispy potatoes, and rich gravy. Service is outstanding, provided by the lovely Martha.

A lovely venue and good food. We had booked a table prior to going into Cambridge for an event at the corn exchange. Service was friendly and attentive.

Incredible food, such a turn around from previous owners. The lamb and beef were both cooked to perfection, crispy potato’s. Great portion size for the price. We look forward to coming back.

We stopped by here for a few drinks on our way through Grantchester and were so impressed with the gorgeous setting, great selection of drinks and in particular the excellent staff! Although we didn't have time to stay for food, the menu looked so good that we made a point of coming back two days later for a Sunday roast, which were cooked to perfection and hands down the best Sunday roasts we've had in a long time (the veggie wellington especially). They're also dog-friendly and have some really lovely outdoors spaces to sit and take in the surroundings. 10/10, highly recommend!

Delightful Sunday roast. Totally delicious, amazing service, fantastic 3 course menu which is very fair in price. We tried a lot of the dishes on the menu and each was delightful. Highly recommend and be sure to book in advance as this restaurant is very popular!

We came today for Sunday lunch, since it is under new ownership, we had a lovely booth next to the chefs hatch, we had some bread to start, and the Parmesan twists, roast, carbonara and fish and chips, the pumpkin panacotta, blackberry tart and the special brownie. All the food was so fresh and flavourful, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly, and being able to see the chefs at work, was a highlight to my teen, she was fascinated watching them. We will definitely be returning, we left very full and happy, keep up the great work.

Great village pub. Simple as that. Staff all friendly and the owner a top bloke. Food itself absolutely bang on point, doubt I’ll ever have a better Caesar Salad than what I’ve eaten here.

What a great spot, sat on the terrace for a birthday lunch and a cheeky cocktail, staff were friendly and attentive. Food was lovely and quick. We even went back for a dessert after a stroll. Would recommend a visit, they are closed Tues & Wed for reference

Great service. Our servers were so polite, friendly and patient. It was a very busy Saturday night but they were very attentive and we were always greeted with a smile! They made my sisters 30th birthday meal nice and enjoyable. Also to my benefit I managed to buy one of their amazing Gluggle Jugs! Food, drinks and service was 10/10.

Christmas Dining Club Meal-Friday 6 December 2024 My sister and I arrived at the venue, shortly after our hosts the father, daughter and mother (as it was the Christmas one), we all went in to the Restaurant, where the General Manager showed us to our table, afterwards we ordered drinks, a glass of white wine for the father, a glass of red wine for my sister, a Diet Coke for the daughter, a bottle and glass of mineral water for the mother and a bottle of ginger beer for myself. After drinks, we ordered our Starters, for the father, Broccoli and Stilton Soup with Toasted Pine Nuts and Sourdough, and for my sister and myself, Pan Fried Scallops with Mustard Tuile, Artichoke Puree and Pickled Blackberry Supplement, both the daughter and mother skipped a Starter. For the Mains, the father, daughter, my sister and myself, had Roasted Turkey Parcel with Chicken Sage and Apricot Stuffing, Roast Potatoes, Glazed Carrots and Parsnips with Pancetta Roasted Brussel Sprouts, and the mother had Braised Short Rib of Beef, Truffle Mash, Roasted Root Vegetables, Jus and Fresh Horseradish. For the Dessert the father, my sister and myself, we had Christmas Pudding, Hazelnuts, Brandy Sauce and Ice-Cream, the daughter had Apple, Cinnamon and Ginger Strudel with Prosecco Sorbet, and Apple Crisp and the mother had Dark Chocolate Torte, White Chocolate Sauce, Raspberry Sorbet, and Pistachio Nougat.

Nice restaurant, delicious food. I had Fish & chips, loved it, crispy and tasty. The village is very beautiful and starting point for a lovely walk to Cambridge.

Food was fantastic and they were able to cater extremely well for Gluten Free & Dairy Free options. One of the best meals I have had out recently - Can’t wait to come back soon! COVID-19 restrictions were brilliant too!

Yet another reason to pick The Rupert Brooke as your choice for a quality meal that doesn’t require remortgaging your home. Short rib and steak with a fabulous red wine to pair nicely with your meal!

So pleased to have this back at the top of the game since it CHANGED HANDS last week. Just uped the game for excellent quality at very sensible money. Fab. Chilled, relaxed, excellent

Great service, pro and friendly. Good selection of elevated pub food, reasonable prices for the area and the food quality. amazing outdoor terrace. Great place to finish or start the riverside walk from/to Cambridge

Great atmosphere! Yummy food! Lovely decor! We bumped into this place on our way to visit Cambridge and we decided to stop for lunch. Really surprised us the quality of the food and the place. Staff was very helpful and kind. Saved to favourites! :)

I'm not much of a drinker but can be picky when it comes to my low alachol drinks. However, the bartender, Harry, was very helpful in describing the various alcohol free/low drink options today. They helped me find something to enjoy. The atmosphere was really nice. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks :)

Great local spot! Consistently good food and drinks. The service is top-notch, especially from Harry the waiter - always friendly and attentive. It's pet-friendly too and they even have a menu for dogs! Had a pleasant surprise of a free Birthday dessert after they learnt we were there to celebrate. Thank you!! Highly recommend The Rupert Brooke for a reliably good dining experience.

Out of all the pubs in the area this is one of my favourites to visit. The ambience here is always lovely and the staff, ever so friendly. I fancied something new today but still along the lines of the classic lager I enjoy, the gentleman behind the bar was very helpful in suggesting the ideal beer! Big thanks to Harry and the team :)

This looks like a fantastic location to eat. We stopped by for coffee, the service was fantastic, and it was an hour before they officially opened for business. Thanks guys.

Went there for my wife's birthday on recommendation of my daughter. Nice and clean. Although the food not plentiful, the quality was very good. Was a Sunday so very busy. The service staff were mostly very young, but had good service , and they all was very pleasant. Nice to see these days. Recommend. Well done all.

Another superb dinner with friends at our favourite local. A Saturday gathering, the restaurant was very busy but service and attention to detail was still the same high standard. I had the monkfish special dish, which was perfectly cooked. We shared a dessert, the pistachio crumb chocolate cheesecake... it was really delicious: I definitely recommend that. Thanks again to the team for a lovely evening and a really warm welcome. See you soon!

Fantastic venue and amazing food! We held an industry event at the Rupert Brooke with BBQ themed buffet. The food was great and plenty. We were in the upstairs room with access to the terrace, which was amazing and gave everyone a chance to get some fresh air or some quiet spot to talk. Lots of parking spaces. Great service, we wholeheartedly recommend the Rupert Brooke!

Had an excellent meal here last night. We had steak and monkfish. Both were perfectly cooked and delicious. Great range of drinks. Staff were friendly and service was quick. The prices are a bit steep but food was very good.

We came down from Edinburgh for the weekend, and ate in lots of places. But, The Rupert Brooke was by far our favourite. Great atmosphere, staff were so kind and the food was delicious. There were 8 of us, and each starter and main were fantastic. Highlights were wild boar pate with apricot chutney starter and the pork belly main. We will be back!

I ordered the duck which was incredible! The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The venue is really beautiful with a great bar. Would definitely come again!

We loved it. The staff were very friendly and accommodated our (on this occasion) well-behaved dog! We'd brought some Italian visitors so it mattered to us that it was quiet and efficient - and the food was very nice.

Took family here and they loved it after their trip abroard, great Sunday dinner and amazing service. We had an amazing time, great service and food

When we dine out, we want to feel that someone cares at least a bit about our experience at their establishment. This place cares a lot. The food is creative but not wild. The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The design was given attention. The vibe is positive and relaxed. We had no problem settling in for an enjoyable evening (even with our toddler).

What a perfect pub with super efficient staff and a great choice of beers and craft ales. Only stopped for 1 but it was so nice upstairs on the verander that we stayed for more. Haven't tried the food but maybe next time.

We had a 70th birthday lunch party for 36 adults + 3 toddlers. The booking process was mainly done by email. At all times, the venue staff were very helpful and responsive. We had the upstairs room which was just right for size and atmosphere. The food and cooking were agreed by all to be superb- and this was not a group easily pleased in such matters. The service was friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. Maybe a little costly, but we certainly got value for money. We would certainly use this place again! Edit to say that there is a balcony terrace attached to this space - safe, just right for little kids to let off steam.

(Private dining) The Rupert Brooke hosted us for a birthday lunch on a Saturday, with almost 40 family members and friends in the private room upstairs. The team was extremely helpful in the lead-up to the event, helping us to organise it, answer questions and accommodate specific requests. On the day, the service was excellent, the food exquisite, the space perfect for our needs and everyone we dealt with extremely friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to dine at The Rupert Brooke again, and would heartily recommend it to anyone looking to organise a similar event in the Cambridge/Grantchester area.

I went over Christmas period, loved the decour and overall atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff were really accommodating and looked after us so well, I had the fish and chips and my gf had the rabbit, with a side of pigs in blanket. Best meal I’ve had in a long while and we’ll be back soon

Absolutely fabulous! Our go to restaurant for a lovely lunch or dinner with friends. I highly recommend The Rupert Brooke. Always a warm welcome on arrival, a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and yummy food. Dog friendly section too, which is fab! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing! Really enjoyed Sunday lunch, the atmosphere was lovely and our large party was catered for brilliantly. Beef was delicious and the huge Yorkshire puddings were perfect! Will return very soon!

We had a nice meal this evening. The main thing to raise is that for £10 on the kids' menu, only 2 smalls bits of chicken were served, see photo. Also, no tailored starters for children on the menu. The special venison pie was, however, very tasty and a decent portion. Prices were fairly high when 6 people reached practically £300 with only 1 starters and 3 adults drinking alcohol. Staff were very friendly and helpful, place was clean and tidy.

This place is such a hidden gem! The interior is really lovely and they have outdoor seating. We had a table in a brightly lit area with natural light. Staff and service were great, food was delicious. Try the catch of the day and the creamiest Mac & Cheese you’ll ever have! Would definitely come back again, especially on a nice summers day to sit outside.

Very Good. There was some little things that could have made it better. We started off in the bar. They can not give change because they don't have a float? Really? Once everyone had turned up we went over to our table. Taking the orders was quick and the food turned up fast. Once we finished the meal some of us ordered coffee, that took a long time to turn up (the place was not busy). The food was excellent scotched egg, main and desert. The dirty chips was amazing! It is not a cheap-eats place so you except everything to be very good. One of the bowls had a lot of chips on the edge (broken bowl) but was still used to serve. I ordered a lamb dish (with peas, carrots, onions) that came in a big bowl so it was not easy to eat (why a bowl?). The décor was really nice. Overall the experience was very good and the food was excellent, with a few attention to details it could get 5 star.

Delicious food and a great selection of wines. We shared the hummus and sourdough and an affogato. Absolutely divine. The water jug (fish-shaped) was gorgeous.

Superb ambience, great service, clean toilets, easy parking. Lovely out door seating, dog friendly. Food ok. Need more vegetarian choice. Nice place to go for a relaxed meal or an occasion

The food was nice and had cute touches, however the menu was limited and the portions were small especially the starters. The staff were friendly enough and the atmosphere was nice. One slight disappointment is the deodorants which were provided in the bathroom for guest use stained my top.

Really enjoyed our Friday lunch. We chose Rupert Brooke as it had a more adventurous menu, compared to the more standard pub offerings of it's near neighbours. With that comes a more exacting lens, but overall very happy with what we ate. Scallops, lamb, duck, asparagus all lovely, puds also good! Just an overcooked poached egg (which was way over) short of a 5* review

Nice place with a fancy atmosphere with gastropub vibes, friendly service, and good food. I had the steak sandwich and it was alright but a bit on the small side. It came with fries and they were tasty, and helped fill me up, but I still had a bit of room to spare by the end of my meal. The ice cream though was a bit disappointing. I had the salted caramel ice cream and it was hardly sweet at all so the flavor didn’t come out. It felt more like a diet ice cream or something with light sugar. I would recommend the chocolate tart instead! One of the others in my party had that and I was verrry jealous!

Friends went for Christmas day meal, expensive they knew, tip ontop no choice and meal not good, one carrot! £700 for 4 I know Christmas day, wasnt even proper turkey it was turkey roll, we went years ago and a similar experience we asked for tip to be taken off and extremely hard work

Most unfortunate but I have to give this restaurant a one star review because 1) their staff were very slow and unattentive, 2) they served me raw chicken. I was tucking into the kiev which was very tasty when I noticed something strange; a good portion of the top was literally raw. I had to walk to the bar to get the staff's attention. In fairness they were very apologetic and offered me a replacement meal. However, I think the best to do in the situation is not to charge for that particular dish but I don't think their staff or management are trained sufficiently well to handle such situations. I honestly could not recommend this restaurant to anyone given that there are a few gastro pubs nearby.

J
Johny Ghil

Really bad experience. My food came cold and my manager did nothing to fix this situation. All the reviews are met with nasty comments from the pub too - I’m sure I’ll get one! I look forward to laughing at it 😂
