Hadn’t been here in several years but the food we ordered was just as I remembered it. Had the walnut chicken with cashews and beef with garlic sauce and vegetables and both were on point. A few soups and some vegetable fried rice made for an excellent meal 🥘

We had a 100 year birthday party at Cho-Sen Village, this past Sunday. Raymond, the manager was more than helpful and accommodating. He went out of his way to make sure that our party was perfect. We expected approximately 50 people. But, 63 people showed up. Raymond, quickly assembled new tables and chairs for our extra guests. He made the party flawless! There was more than enough staff to accommodate our large party and all the food was served quickly and efficiently. Everything was absolutely delicious! My only hope is that we can have the 101st birthday party there again next year!!!!!

It's a trusted kosher place with a long history of service to the community. Prices have hardly changed over the years. It could use an overhaul, but it's the food that counts. During Covid their chicken soups helped many recover a bit earlier :)

Very fresh ingredients. Lots of options. Great service. Relaxing ambiance. Only Chinese place I can eat at without feeling gross afterwards. They deliver the food to your house so fast that I think they cook it on the go in the delivery van. It's just too good

Serving high quality Kosher Chinese food must be very hard to do... because so few places are capable. Chosen Village makes consistently excellent food. Fast, friendly enough, service. After nearly 20 years in this location it may be time to spruce up the decor. I'd be thrilled to see Chosen punch some new life into their menu with more Pan-Asian items like pad Thai, bulgogi beef, pho, poke, etc.

Delicious, decadent Chinese cuisine. I could not vouch for Chinese authenticity or healthfulness of ingredients, but I definitely enjoy eating there.

Good reliable food... generally friendly staff... busy at times so make reservations if you have a larger party or if you want to go for a peak time. I love the lunch specials! Very filling and tasty.

This place is a hidden gem! Food is always delicious! It's so hard to find a place these days with good hot and sour soup (other places put so much cornstarch, but here it is full of flavor and has the consistency that soup SHOULD have!) General tso chicken and spicy crispy beef are great! And we love the combo fried rice. Staff are so friendly here! We had a wonderful time and we see how friendly they are with people from the neighborhood. I also notice that this is a hard area to deal with. Some people in Great Neck are such nasty snobs, not all though. Last time I ate here, a group tried leaving without paying. Such disgusting behavior! I really hope their business thrives. It is always a pleasure!

Food and service could not have been better. Best Chinese food I ever had. Portions were excellent, vegetables were perfectly done, and sushi was wonderful. I am really thrilled with this restaurant. The service was very attentive and they ask good questions to make for a great experience. My wife’s orange beef was the best she ever had and the portion was enormous.

Had dinner at Chosen Village on 3/27/2024 along with a group of friends. The food was outstanding! Very fresh and tasty and the service was excellent! The sushi, steamed dumplings, boneless spare ribs, beef skewers, chicken with string beans, and sesame chicken was a 10+. Will be back soon!

This is our favorite family restaurant. It is always a special occasion to eat in or take out. The food is fresh, tasty, and comforting. The service is always excellent, and take out is simple. While it is not cheap, kosher restaurants have to hire extra supervisors and pay higher overhead, we find that it is worth every cent. Nice sized portions and healthy options are some of the reasons we love Chosen.

We went for a family dinner on a Sunday night. Service was really good and food was good too. They brought in a cake for our celebration and we had a really nice evening.

You cannot compare Kosher Chinese to non-Kosher Chinese. It is not the same. That said, and having tasted most of the Kosher Chinese available in the NYC Metro area, and the best of the Kosher Chinese in L.A. (as well as some of the best non-Kosher Chinese in L.A. many years ago when I was not keeping kosher), I will say that Cho Sen Village ranks Above Average for Kosher Chinese. It is good but not great, and better than most as far as taste and consistence of food goes. Service varies widely and is never great, but that's pretty normal for most Kosher restaurants that are kid-friendly or not catering to upscale. Bottom Line, for Kosher and Long Island, you are not going to find better.

Although, they slack on the meat portions. Overall the food is the go to for Chinese!

Good restaurant but weird. For example you order 5 orders of sushi for 5 people they just give one spicy Mayo on the side. 5 orders of sushi for 5 people they each want spicy Mayo it should come with the order. They just give one and if you want more they charge you like $1.10 for it. How weird this is.

I agree with some of the comments about cleanliness - noticed visible stains on my spoon and the toilet in the bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. However, the waiters were lovely and attentive, perhaps because we came at 5 before the max Sunday rush. I also thought the food was really good. My husband ordered the general Tzos chicken and he loved it. I had a veal dish with white sauce because of my gluten free restrictions. It was significantly smaller but still very tasty, although the veggies it came with were a bit heavy on celery and broccoli with very few mushrooms. All in all, still a very tasty meal

Good but expensive, even by Kosher standards. Chicken corn soup should contain actual chicken and General Tso Chicken should be coated and deep fried. Egg Rolls should be drained better, maybe baked after frying to remove excess oil and to make crisper.

if you are only Kosher then you have no choice but to come here. Food is pricey and the service could be better. If you are not Kosher look somewhere else. Any place is better then here.

Horrible customer service, Prices in restaurant are like 20% higher than the published menu on their website. when you call to order they hang up while taking the order, very impatient over the phone, it happened to me over 3 times.. the only good Chinese food in great neck and they are milking it.. come on when I call to order and you hang up the phone I will not order from you again... you have a good food so follow it with the right attitude so you can have happy customers and better business

Average to below average food. I ordered Szechuan chicken which came with a spicy food warning. It should have had a bland good warning. It was tasteless.

Their already high prices keep rising, dishes are shrinking, the service is poorer and poorer. The place needs a refresh and it makes you wonder how clean the kitchen is. When you order for take out, they often mess up your order. If you call them, then don't particularly care to make it right.

Each time I go here I am more disappointed then the last. The food is just not that good. It's bland and uninviting. I ordered Szechuan chicken that came with a warning that it was extra spicy. It wasn't. It was tasteless. There are better alternatives in the neighborhood. Not for Chinese food but many other kosher choices..

Place is small and not handicapped accessible. Only 2 bathrooms when the place seats about 100. Sesame chicken was a small portion and tasted hard. Waiter demanded a tip from me after he gave me a chipped knife. No dessert given, even though it was on the menu. Not coming back.

Pretty disappointed. Come here all the time. I don’t usually inspect my food but noticed a few pieces of dark meat chicken that were *extra dark*. Inside is brown/black with the same colorings outside. Not sure if this is even chicken or how it ended up in my food.

Main dishes did not come with any sides, like traditional broccoli. Plates and cutlery are worn out. I asked for spicy version, got the mild version. Chicken was over fried and hard to chew (some pieces). Table kept wobbling although they had tried to fix it by shoving some newspapers under one of the legs. Prices are higher than normal even for kosher food standards especially for what they offer. I was asked if we want to "die in", which took me a min to understand she was asking if we want to "dine in". The place was understaffed for Sunday night dinner. But it was packed so it must be good for the locals.

We went here for the first time good service in the beginning gave us water and very good fried wontons and then I ordered the sesame chicken but they chose duck meat with out me saying anything and it was horrible and my wife felt very nauseous from the high amount of MSG that they use in there dishes if you decide to go to this place make sure you ask everything before ordering or they will mess up your order

I called to make a reservation and they told me that im joking and im not serious then i called back and they slammed down the phone on me. I thought maybe i said something wrong so i just decided to go there in person they felt stupid cause they know me as a repeat customer. To be honest the service in the place aint to much better than on the phone.

The food is decent but the service is horrible. The Asian lady behind the counter always gives attitude. The waiters don't speak any English except what is on the menu and can't answer simple questions. The food is solid but everything else keeps you from wanting to go back.

Worst customer service. Waiters are very rude, waving at the customers “I’m busy right now”. You’re in the customer service business. Get better waiters and maybe you won’t have such bad reviews.

The service was horrible , waited for our food for exactly an hour and a half .. nobody came to check on our table to see if we were okay or if we needed something. when we finally got our food it was cold! If I can give this place 0 stars I would. Never again.

We had a hair on a tea dish, there is gum under the chair, the soup was pure salt, the spicy in their spicy Cho-sen roll was bad. The waiters serve food with their hair over their eyes The manager had an excuse for everything.

Very bad customer service, very rude personnel, and they talk back to their loyal paying customers. They put you on hold for 30 minutes and then hang up on you + they shut off the phone when you are trying to call. After 45 minutes of me waiting, someone picked up and i told them the story. From there the woman talked back to me as if I was a dog and put the phone on hold again.

I waited 25 minutes for one roll of sushi. This is not a good look for the store. Definitely will not be coming back again.

FLIES FOUND ON SUSHI! After initially telling me that they are just sesame seeds, the Owner responded by telling me that this "can happen" since it is "summertime" and wanted to continue serving the restaurant sushi! Mistakes do happen...nevertheless, when you are unwilling to prevent such things from happening in the future you lose your reputation. You have done just that.

Was not to happy with.their Rego Park site so I stopped here for an egg roll. May I suggest"egg roll" be changed to "cabbage roll". I could not have been more disappointed. Owners should close both locations. What garbage!

i agree with some of the previous reviews. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I think the servers (some of them) DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH WELL. Considering this is America, it should be a prerequisite for being a server. food not bad. but the whole experience is a disaster after the waiters at this location (great neck).

Food is horrible and customer service is terrible, I think these Chinese waiters were just picked up from JFK Chinese airlines and were just brought here. They have an attitude and look at you as if they are donating you food. Everything taste old. I feel like throwing up! They feel like they have no competition in town and can do whatever they want. I don’t want to imagine how their kitchen looks like but I hope Nassau county health department will shut down this disgusting place soon .

The food is good but the customer service is awful. Takes away your appetite. I called to order food for a meeting I had to attend. When I asked how long it would take for the order to be ready I was told between 20 to 30 minutes. When I came to pick up, the order was not ready and 40 minutes had passed. When I calmly explained to the person helping that I only ordered because I was told the order would be ready in 30 minutes he started yelling at me. I was talking very respectfully and quietly yet he started yelling!!!

The staff is unbelievably rude and the service is terrible. Although it's a family restaurant they do not like it when people go there with your children and the server actually has to be yelled that until he comes to the table. I personally had to actually walk up to the server and asked him if you wanted to come and take our order. The food also happens to be incredibly greasy which only adds to my complaints. many of my friends have already stopped eating there for a long time and as of this very second my family will never eat there again.

The waiter was rude and in a serious hurry. I asked for extra sea weed for my son's soup and was willing to pay as a side order for it, but he simply said "I gave him enough sea weed already"! The prices are ridiculously high! There was a watch dog standing by our table to keep an eye on us [not getting us anything or serving us], just to make sure my kids are behaving. #neveragain

Was sat at a table with my wife. After almost 10 minutes, we asked for water… he made a face at us. Another 10 minutes passed and he still did not bring any. As the waiter passed by again for about the 4th time, I told him we were ready to order at which point he raised his voice at me. I am never one to complain about service and understand that it is a demanding job, but there is no excuse for yelling at a customer- especially when he uses kind language and tone with you. Needless to say, we got up and walked out immediately. The hostess stopped us at the front and asked why we were leaving to which my wife responded with “your waiter raised his voice at us when we told him we were ready to order”. The hostess apologized and we walked out.

Well.... trying now to find best words l can to explain our experience but... food is fine , nothing special at all. I ordered vegetable dumplings, for some reasons the dough was bright green.. not food friendly color. Also my rainbow roll tasted ok, but size for one piece is too big to put in your mouth at one time, so u have to use a knife. Got ready disgusted by “white” scratch marks - overused plates. Really?! That’s how you treat your customers? With OLD plates?! Please please buy new ones! At least from Dollar tree store.Spend some money on your quality & business . Better cheap plates but NEW, Clean, without black scratch marks, than old ones that maybe were expensive in last century. Cups we had on our table were almost clean but with extremely bad smell. One of our party was on a special diet so nothing she could it from menu. She brought her own diet tea bag and got checked with attitude for that tea. We didn’t like that! Also was really surprised that you are not allowed to use wifi in their place, no one will give you the password. 😳🤯How is that?! Have no words! Never seen something like that. Service was so so... could be better. You see that ppl who work aren’t happy there. No one smiled to us. We were waiting for a long time to catch our waitress all entire evening. Very nasty people. Horrible customer service. They insulted my toddler boy. Next time we drove 10 minutes to Queens. We went to Annie Chan's Kosher Chinese restaurant in Union Turpike. we were very happy . They were so nice, and pleasant. We will never go back to Cho-sen . I think everybody should do the same. They should not get away with treating their customers so badly. They are only getting away with it because they are the only Chinese restaurant in this area.

Lacks flavor, very few vegetarian options, no diverse options such as black beans sauce, bok choi, sechuan, etc. the sesame chicken and general tso's chicken is BRIGHT RED - so much food coloring my kids wouldn't eat it. And not terribly kind over the phone.

I usually don't leave bad reviews for businesses, but people need to know what type of establishment this is. This place is beyond filthy. Every glass cup the waiters brought out were visibly dirty. The cleaniless in this place is horrific. The customer service was practically non existent. At one point one of the staff members locked the bathroom door preventing our kids from using it and the staff was playing stupid when we asked them to open it. I don't understand how this establishment is operating when they are extremely dirty. Every piece of flatware, cup or plate that they brought us from the kitchen was dirty. We at one point ended up piling all these dirty stuff at one end of the table. We would've left if we weren't celebrating a bday with 20 other people. Department of healthy really needs to pay this place a visit!

Extremely bad quality food. Raw meat dipped in oil and sugar. Expired food, not fresh at all, hair in food. Disgusting old plates that are dirty even though they are washed. Worst experience ever. Manager yelled at my wife and kids for my infant child crying. He also yelled at my 3 yrs old son for dropping noodles on the floor. Food was mediocre and the table side manner is horrible. This place is old, smells musty and the seats and furniture are at least 20 yrs bitten up.... They should shut it down if they cant handle customers with children. Tips was added to my bill for 20% written on the bill by hand by manager automatically. They dont even deserve 1 star. Sad to see its the only kosher Chinese in great neck.
