Such a tasty little spot. I was looking for a good place for lunch today while I was up in LA. The good reviews did not lie. I had a shrimp and a beef taco. Everything was fresh and so tasty, and really reasonably priced. Service was fast and friendly.
Came here early (maybe before 11am) and they had everything we wanted. Had two kinds of steak tacos, two kinds of chicken tacos and one chicken tamale. Everything was very good especially both kinds of steak tacos. Chicken tinga was a bit spicy for me. Tamale reminded me of the first time I had tamales in CA years ago. Service was good too. Glad we found this place.
A Taco Adventure So Dramatic I Should've Gotten Closing Credits Dear Guisados, Let me confess how you fed me, rescued me, AND made me blush a little. It was almost 9pm when I pulled up. I was driving down the coast, trying to find parking so I could stare at the ocean and fix my entire mood. I’d barely eaten all day (one sad tuna sandwich that absolutely did not do its job), and my stomach was filing complaints. I’m circling the beach lots, annoyed, hungry, over it… and then I see YOU. Warm lights. Cozy glow. Vibes immaculate. Your sign basically grabbed me by the soul and said: “Hey. You. Turn around. We have tacos.” So obviously, I busted a U-turn so dramatic it could’ve been a trailer moment. I walk in and instantly get hit with the smell of steak so good it temporarily healed my childhood. Slow-stewed, juicy, rich — the kind of smell that says, “Your night is about to get better.” And then there was the cashier. Cute. Calm. Soft smile. I tell him: “Real talk? I’ve got $11. I’m starving. I just need something. Whatever I can get with that. ” He stays sweet while we go over the menu(rude), patient, when I asked for steak in a burrito, explaining why it just isn't done (ruder), and then asks if I want something to drink. I’m like, “I probably have a few extra dollars for that, yeah lets throw in an horchata”, Fully prepared to scrape together the change to pay for all of it. He says: “The horchata’s on me.” Sir. Please. I’m weak. Then he adds his employee discount, dropping my total to $7.92. I go to pay and try to leave a $2 tip cause I mean come on, this guy is an absolute saint. BUT THEN — chaos. My phone tap fails. The payment screen freezes. He asks if I have a physical card. So I run back to my car —which is a mess cause I'm a mess— I dig through doors, seats, pockets, the entire void. I finally find my wallet… NO card. I was just about to start walking back toward the restaurant, stomach dramatic, spirit broken, ready to admit defeat and apologize for wasting so much of that sweet dudes time (and make do with just a cup of water). And then — HERE’S THE MOMENT. He doesn’t wait for me to walk inside. He doesn’t let me explain. He RUNS OUTSIDE to me with the tacos AND the horchata like: “Hey! Don’t worry about it. Have a good night.” Sir… kindness like that should come with a warning label. I sat in my car, under the streetlight, and ate those tacos with the passion of someone who just survived a mini emotional saga. They were phenomenal. Juicy. Tender. Flavorful. Two little tortilla-wrapped miracles. And here’s the real reason I’m writing this: It’s late at night *right now*, hours later, and I still can’t stop thinking about that moment. About the kindness. About the food. About the whole vibe. To the restaurant: Your food is incredible. Your service is unforgettable. I’ll be back — with money, a functioning card, and friends who I will personally drag in with me so they can experience the magic too. With love and a very dramatic U-turn, Latrice
While visiting Hermosa beach, came across this yummy spot 🙌 the options for tacos are wowwww same with the drinks 🙌 after much debating we went with : Cochinita pibil taco Chile relleno taco Frijol con queso taco Chicharrón taco Shrimp taco Steak picado taco Also an amazing shrimp ceviche tostada And yoooooo the drinks Seasonal pumpkin orchard ufffff yummy Agua de limón con pepino
Very fresh and tasty tacos at a reasonable price. The vegetarian sampler was a great way to try multiple taco types!
Wait, 4* for the food and 5* overall? Have i offered my head as a piñata? No, the prices are low enough to limbo, and the tortilla are spanking fresh and excellent. The fillings are generous and fresh. Some are complex enough, others simpler. The tamales are sweet, but yum. It's a great cheap feed with service so friendly and beautiful, you may stay for longer than you'd planned. It's a happy place.
Stopped in after a long bike ride and the tacos did not disappoint! Great no frills spot for some authentic Mexican tacos served on corn tortillas. Reasonably priced. I'll be back next time I'm I'm town for more delicious tacos.
You’re here for tacos, and that’s what you’ll get. It’s in a location that looks like a retrofitted 7-Eleven but the tacos are fantastic. Full of flavor, stuffed to the gills, and wrapped in a surprisingly robust corn tortilla that didn’t fall apart. We had fish, shrimp, and steak tacos. All were on point. If you’re looking for a quick bite in Hermosa that won’t break the bank, stop in!
Been going to Guisados since 2012. Love a family owned joint. So excited to see they opened a restaurant in my hometown. I have been twice (now 3 times) and have taken 8 family members. The tacos and tamales are on point. Make your own taco sampler is the best. Homemade tortillas are to die for. The tamales with eggs...yes! Hibiscus and lemon lime drinks are favorites too.
The fish taco was my favorite one but being able to get the sampler was awesome! Each of the tacos had a distinct flavor and makes it way easier for the next time you get to go!
Delicious! In all my years of eating tacos, this is the first time I have came across a "taco sampler " option. I was skeptical about the size, so went with 2 orders between me and my wife. Every single one of them was great!
Tried Mole Pblano ( amazing! My favorite), cochinta pibil ( it was really good), Nopales ( made with cactus. It was good ) Tried Jamaica and Melon drinks. They are AMAZING Highly recommended. I really like that you could try samples before buying the food. Customer service is exceptional. Paid parking is available next to the restaurant
Pretty blown away by these tacos. Best in the Southbay for sure. We got the sampler (defaults to the 2 beef, 2 pork and 2 chicken options on the menu but you can mix and match if you want). The chicharrón taco was our favorite but they were all delicious. Complex flavors and fresh corn tortillas. We also tried the cheese and pork tamales- the cheese and chile was incredible. Great ceviche tostada as well. We will be back!

Wow I can’t speak enough good things about Guisados. The vibes were amazing, the food was even more delicious. The service was great and plenty of seating available!

Delicious food, prepared FRESH, on-site. 01/16/2025 UPDATE: I've been coming back regularly because it's one of the best Taquerias around. I order the sampler because it reminds me of eating at my granmother's house on weekends, where she'd heat up all of the leftover guisados (stews) she'd prepared during the week and we'd have a leftover taco feast. Also, I'm hooked on Guisado's Horchata-Coldbrew, can't get enough it's so freakin' good. I feel like I'm cheating on Starbucks now.LOL!
First time in the area while waiting for our flight. We just had to stop and try this place out. And it did NOT disappoint! Restaurant was nice and clean, and the staff was so courteous and helpful.
Right on the beach. Got the sampler and went back for more chicken mole poblano. Was a great spot.
Good food, the tacos are amazing. The guisados actually taste like mexican grandma food.
First time going here. The cashier (sorry, I forgot to get your name) gave us recommendations and was very friendly! The food was delicious! I will definitely be back! Thank you for everything!!!!!! :)
Super tasty 🤤 idk what was in that thang but dang .. those tacos… would be even better if they had some deals. 2 tacos $9+
I tried the sample taco platter and it was great. I should have gotten two of them in hindsight.
Their tacos are off the hook. Not your typical Carne asada, carnitas, etc. You just have to see for yourself. Get the sampler ... 6 mini tacos ... mix it up, this way you can try many.
I had a wonderful experience here. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with figuring out the menu. The food was INCREDIBLE. And the price is perfectly reasonable. Overall I had a great experience and I fully intend on coming back!
I love the vegetarian tacos here! Especially the calabacitas, frijoles y queso, nopales and the quesadilla! The corn tortillas are so fresh and taste great. I recommend the Jamaica to drink, it's authentic and not too sweet (def not the premixed kind full of sugar).
My first introduction to Guisados was few years ago at the Downtown location. It was a memorable meal and kept saying I needed to go back; however, the LA traffic kept me away 😏. I was soooo happy when I saw that they opened a location in Hermosa, couldn’t believe it. Last week went back to back. Wednesday lunch - sampler and a sweet corn tamale. I am so happy to see the elote (sweet corn) on the menu as it is unusual to find it around here. I got the melon/limon agua fresca at the recommendation of the cashier and it was very tasty and refreshing. Not overly sweet or watery. The next day went with my hubby for breakfast. I had the chorizo, chicharrones and papas tacos, all delicious. Cannot decide on a favorite. Hubby had the chorizo and a pork tamale topped with an egg. The tamale was very good. Service has been 10+ both times, fast, attentive and overall very welcoming. Location is nice. They have few parking spots which is always a plus in the area. We are already planning our next visit, cannot wait.
This place is quite the catch. With more than 5 “Mexican” spots serving tacos. Guisados is something different and authentic. Growing up in LA you have tacos, you have meats, and you have tortillas. This place has all of it. You won’t get your typical Al Pastor dryly sitting in the flame. You have real tender, deep loved meats with sauce and seasoning that just steals your soul. The tacos I got were the Chicarron and Steak Picadio. Amazing! The meat tasted like it had been seasoning for hours and the flavor was rich. The tortillas that are handmade compliment the amazing meats, along with the delicately placed salsa and guac is a heavenly touch. Living in Hermosa you don’t have many options like Guisados, because the surrounding 5 options that are similarly priced don’t compare in style, cuisine nor flavor. It’s just different. If you want the typical al pastor and bistec go to the other big names. If you want something real, and made with love…. Well would you have read all of this? lol
Noah David were awesome. The tacos and beer were awesome. Gotta go. If not you’re missing out.
Everything is delicious here! Love this place.
I went with friends to try out their great taco selection, but found my new favorite Tamale! My picky dining companions had only good things to say and not one of them offered to share!
The food in this restaurant is amazing! It’s not just 100% genuine Mexican (which is very difficult to find if you know the real thing), it’s absolutely delicious!! Everything I have tried so far has been great. The drinks are also very good: aguas frescas made from scratch and beer on tap. Even the music is very cool - genuine Mexican rock and pop songs. No salsa music here (which is not Mexican)
Danielle was amazing! She served us and took our order and make sure we have everything we need! We visited from Ohio and the taco were very delicious! Must have the Cheese and jalapeño Tamale!!
Many years ago, during my 5th trip to Mexico City, my departure flight got delayed by 3 hours; so, my husband and I took the train back into the city and randomly ended up in Coyoacán. We just wanted some street food and it was the first time that I tried STEWED tacos. Mexico City has the best street food in Latin America and those tacos were some of the best. Guisados restaurant took me back to that place and time. We started by sharing the sampler and ordered a few more tacos after that. My only complaint is that the horchata with cold brew was served in a one-time-use plastic cup (we ate in, c’mon). Regardless, with a great location and great service, we will definitely return.
They have the BEST SAUCES‼️Start with the sampler so you can taste most of their flavors. So good! Also they have a small parking lot. Which is a major deal at the beach.
SO GOOD! Came here for a quick lunch and these tacos are amazing. Definitely recommend and get the horchata while you’re there too! 🤤🤤🤤
Best service. Best atmosphere with peak a boo ocean view. 50 steps to the beach and Best of all probably LA's Best tacos. Crazy flavor. Get the sampler plate. Or the breakfast tacos. Or the tamales. Or the ceviche.
Went here for breakfast and had the Tocino and weenie. The food and service was awesome and it came out quick! Adriana was amazing and super helpful explaining the menu for my first time and her recommendations were spot on. I’ll definitely be back again!
Our go-to for tacos - always delicious and well flavored. I can’t recommend it enough!!
Best tacos in ALL of Los Angeles. Used to get Guisados near Dodger stadium pre-game and super excited they opened a SouthBay location. Same great food and service.
Loved this branch of guisados, one of my favorite taco places ever. Recommended: chochinita pibil, chicharon, quesadilla.
Excellent tacos and very friendly team. Highly recommend also the ceviche.
Delicious tacos. Homestyle braises on handmade corn tortillas. You aren't going to find these in other shops. The meats are juicy and well sauced. Careful on the spice level as some can be rather spicy. Few beers on tap and micheladas. The cold brew horchata also works very well and helps bring the heat down.
Guisados provides , Flavors of Mexico is a culinary gem offering a rollercoaster of taco flavors, each packed with depth and cultural significance. Don't miss their ceviche, which bursts with unique and vibrant flavors!
I was just at a going away party and someone brought a bunch of tacos from this place. They were so good I hunted down the name of the restaurant just so I can leave a review to remember where to get tacos next. Probably some of the better tacos I've had in socal . Definitely recommend to everyone.
This place is a gem. Celiac friendly & allergy friendly, everything here is gluten free except a few items that are well marked on the menu! The beans contain butter (relevant if you're avoiding dairy) but there are many vegan options and the staff are friendly, generous and knowledgeable. We loved the chicken mole and the fresh thick corn tortillas. They turned the patio heater on so we could enjoy our late dinner outside. And the prices are fantastic! We were especially happy to find out this restaurant has several locations around the LA area because we're surely going to be back.
Best tacos in the South Bay? I think they might be. Tinga de pollo, bistek en salsa roja, and pescado were my favorites. Definitely coming back for the breakfast burrito next time.
first time trying this place! tacos were great and the ceviche was too! if you go you have to try the melon agua fresca!
This Guidados location is fairly new. We've also been to their Boyle heights location. Prefer the outside seating at the new location. The choice of tacos is extensive! I recommend the sampler.
Fantastic place for tacos. You'll find such a refreshing variety here. They have sampler tacos where you can choose 6 small tacos. I was surprised by the depth of flavours in their mole tacos and pork tacos. They also have vegetarian and vegan options. Such a great find!
Great Mexican food. I typically get tacos here. They have great street tacos at a great price. Tonight we got mixed ceviche with a sweet corn tamale. They were both delicious. I do enjoy stopping here. Good food and service at a great price.
I drive past this place all the time, im a caregiver and my client likes to drive around by the beach. I see the sign breakfast burritos 😋 all the time . So today we stopped by and i got a bacon and potato burrito it was pretty good. My client git a elote tamale which was good also he finish it 😇. The menu has other items. I recomend this place will be back to try some tacos!
Great service and great tacos, my daughter works down the street and loves this place! I do too now! Yummy and good price and best horchata anywhere! Don't miss this Hermosa gem!
The best tacos I have had. The tortillas have a different texture and taste home made (soft and rich corn flavour) and you know that they are not coming from a plastic bag in a hundred. I had the taster (6 small tacos with different toppings). Each was packed with flavor, and were all different from each other and the meats were tender and well seasoned, the mix of onion, cilantro, tomatoes and chilis were cut finely and perfectly blended into the meats. Each bite was satisfying. I had a melon drink, it was delicious and not overly sweet, I finished last bit and even crunched on the ice mixed with some melon bits. The place was small but clean, the waiter was very friendly, they were also having fun with each other, and it shows that they enjoyed the work (on some level at least). Even the stereo system on the outside seating area was very good quality and the music was loud enough but not noisy. Great place just to hangout. Will definitely come back.
Love the sampler plate. Then go for the bigger tacos. Great service free in front parking i am a big fan. Just watch for the red chillies next to certain dishes. Spicy hot but still so good
OMG Whatever you do please come here and try everything on the menu!! I got the sampler and it was so hard to pick my favorite. The cold brew horchata was soo tasty I would go back for that in a heartbeat, I love walking the beach and drinking it. The service is amazing and fast, my friend also loved her breakfast tacos. Strongly recommend!!
At the age of 42 I can say This is by far the best tacos I’ve ever had—and I’ve traveled all over the southern states chasing great food. I’ve tried almost every taco on the menu (except the chiles toreados—yet), and they’ve all been incredible. Each taco is very flavorful, and consistently delicious. Highly recommend!
This location was delicious! I had chicken mole which surprised me. It was good. I had chicken tinga. It was also very yummy. I had the fish taco. I was surprised it wasn't deep fried. My husband really enjoyed the fish taco. He is a true food critic lol. Lastly, I had the Chile reyeno. It was good but I think a little red souce on it would of made it perfect. But it was still good. The tortillas were fresh and soft. Which made the tacos delicious. Will deff go there again. We are excited to try the one in pasadena.
Great food. Highly recommended! Beware of the unusual rating system for spice level. Levels go from 1 to 10 with 3 being medium??? Maybe it's a logarithmic scale??? It doesn't really matter because the tacos are delicious. There are both vegetarian and vegan options.
Broad assortment of tacos! Almost all the meats! Excellent vegetarian options.
Luke and Noah were so knowledgeable and welcoming!!! Panfila was incredible and made me feel like family, especially on Easter!!! I cannot say enough goood things about her, panfila make my experience incredible!! Thanks for the great service and tips on what to order. Will definitely be back because of Noah, Daniel, and panfila!!!
Had their delicious chorizo breakfast burrito on a flour tortilla- with green avacado sauce. So good!! Had their corn tacos here and never disappointed. 2 minute walk to pier. Nice sunny spacious patio. Friendly not stuffy staff. Looking forward to trying their tamales & agua frescas next!
I had the breakfast Chorizo burrito, it was FIRE! A bit on the small side but the taste makes up for it. I need to go all the way back home to East LA to have a burrito this good. Highly recommend this place if your along the hermosa pier. Plenty of free parking. Very clean inside with plenty of seating.
This might be the Guisados that serves the best food. I’ve tried almost all of them and this one has been the most consistent with quality and flavor. It’s hard to beat the location, I’m in the area often and go here anytime I’m craving tacos. I can recommend the tamales too, as certainly above average and the quesadillas are delicious. My favorite tacos are the chicharrón and chile relleno. Breakfast burritos also worth it. Aguas frescas are excellent. Overall, great spot totally worth trying if you’re in the area.
Brought my sister and her family home breakfast burritos; bacon and chorizo and OMG they we're amazing. I stopped myself from eating 2, but could have easily done so. Friendly and speedy service too. Highly recommend.
The steak picado taco was delectable!! So delicious and I normally do not ever enjoy beans but the way they made the taco and how they incorporated it was perfect. They let me walk in last minute to snag some food and I appreciate their kindness so much. The restrooms were clean along with the rest of the restaurant and they gave a great food recommendation when I didn’t know what to order.

I had a breakfast burrito and horchata based on the recommendations of the host. Excellent choice! I thought this was a mom and pop place, but it turns out they have at least six locations in the Southern California area. Go to their website and check it out. You will not be disappointed in the atmosphere, the quality of the food, or the quality of service - and the prices are reasonable, too!
Tried the chicken, steak and grilled fish tacos. Food was tasty. Service was good and the restaurant was clean. I wish they had flour tortillas but they only served corn. There was a good variety of sauces to use as well. Habanero, guac and mild. We also ordered the chicken tamale with a fried egg.

Tacos are really good but overpriced. They are pretty strict about purchasing prior to using the restroom and it gets pretty loud inside the restaurant.
I visited on 12/23/23. Bought 12 tamales; cheese, elotes, pork and chicken. The pork and chicken were really good...the meat was flavorful and they were hearty. The masa was really good too. The cheese tamale had good flavor as well, but there was a one single half of a jalapeño in it and it wasn't cooked nor de-seeded so that was a bummer. The elote was not good at all...I expected there to be corn kernels in it, but it was like cornbread throughout. I couldn't decide if they were bad or not as there was a slightly funky flavor. I thought maybe it was just the one I cooked so I cooked the other, but same thing. I would definitely go back for the pork and chicken tamales, but not the cheese or elote.
Prefer the Venice Guisado. Food here didn’t taste the same something missing
Portions small, expensive limited selection of beer. Should offer more mild options. Needs shade umbrellas in outdoor area.
Pretty good tacos, really nice selection/variety. But I had the sampler and while it was good, I was a little underwhelmed. I would go again but I've been to better spots.
Pretty damn good burrito. Not the biggest breakfast burrito, but tasty.
The flavors were there. The restaurant decoration and atmosphere of the workers was nice. But the portions are very small for a 10$ burrito. Very good but just not great size at all. If your looking for flavor here isn’t bad isn’t amazing and a bite and looking for taste come here. If your looking for to be full and satisfied look elsewhere because they only bring the flavor

Tacos are relatively small for the price ($4 on average). Most of them don't have everything on them. For example, their steak picado taco is literally just steak and an avocado in a corn tortilla. Everything on their menu is missing an ingredient, especially the breakfast items. You can't get a taco with bacon, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. Overall I don't feel like this place is worth the money. Down the street you can get a giant slice of pizza for $3.50 and feel way more full.
Its not terrible. It is feed the masses quality at a comparable price point. Steak taco is pot roast on a tortilla. Ceviche is watery. Probably made in mass and frozen. Puerco tamale was solid. Service is counter order to table. In all, I spent less than $20 but probably won't return.
While the service was absolutely top-notch and attentive, the food unfortunately fell short of expectations. It lacked both flavor and texture, making for a disappointing culinary experience.
I have gone here many times; I love the tacos and became familiar with the gluten-containing items, as I have a serious disease that can cause me to throw up and experience intestinal damage if I come into contact with just a little gluten. Though I'd always had a good experience, I explained my restrictions to the cashier and asked if he could please tell the kitchen to avoid any gluten cross-contamination. He agreed. I ordered a tamale for the first time, which was honestly very disappointing. The corn one was incredibly dry, and my dad's meat one was as well. Then, after I made myself finish it just for the sake of finishing, I noticed there was gluten in the tamales, a new change. I asked the same cashier about this. He maintained there was no gluten in tamales until I pointed out the menu description. He had no clue about this important menu change and even more frustratingly, didn't seem to care. Even when I told him I might throw up. If I was going to have a stomachache and intestinal damage, at the very least, I would have wanted it to come from something much better than the tamale. After contacting Guisado's, they offered me a full refund which makes me less bitter, but they also tried to gaslight me into thinking the gluten in tamales was not a new change, until I showed evidence otherwise Still, if food allergies/restrictions aren’t an issue for you, I’d recommend going for the tacos.
They definitely did not have the handmade tortillas when I went, they were basically the same as store bought. None of the tacos were particularly flavorful. The horchata was just milk with a little cinnamon sugar in it.
Okay food, much better street options nearby. Burritos are kind of small and overall lacks flavor
6/1 Update: Came to this location for the second time, and gave it 3 stars pertaining to the review below. Giving it 1 star this time because I was sitting directly in front of a cashier, waiting for my order, when I got up to ask for the code to the restroom. Instead of using her context clues, the woman asked me if I had placed on order already, and I was extremely offended and embarrassed. I literally had to look at the Hispanic gentleman in the eye in the back of the kitchen, who took my order initially, for confirmation….just to use the bathroom, when I was sitting right in front of this woman the entire time. She basically assumed that I was loitering and trying to freeload, instead of just being a kind enough person to allow someone to use the restroom. The things that I go through as a black man is appalling to me at times. Never coming back. Previous Review: I LOVE Guisados, and idk if it’s just me, but this location needs to put some more seasoning in their meat. These tacos were a lot more bland than what I remembered. Don’t be shy & bring out that flavor, the horchata was lowkey fire though…I can’t hate.
I was on my way home and wanted to get something to eat. There was a sign in front advertising breakfast burritos. I ordered one. It was tasty but it was small, and I was hungry. Left unsatisfied.
