Great food, great service- lovely private dining room, beautiful afternoon!!

Charlie and the team at Redcoats are incredible. From our initial visit to our wedding day, they exceeded all of our expectations in every regard! Even going as far as to pop round with a slice of our wedding cake the day afterwards when we’d forgotten it! The organisation was outstanding, the food was delicious, and everyone working there was so genuinely lovely. They made our day so so special, and we can’t thank them enough. We look forward to returning for our anniversary and many drinks in the beautiful gardens in the meantime.

Great value and interesting (but tasty) food choices on the menu this evening - it is a well thought out menu. I thought it was fresh and cleverly crafted. Hats off to the kitchen team for that special pork terrine starter. It was so humble and comforting, a perfect start to the meal. My partner ordered the best steak he’s had in years, and the beef bourguignon just melts in your mouth. I must say, they have mastered that potato confit too. The staff was very attentive and helpful, from the moment you arrive to confirm your reservation to checking out. Kept telling everyone on the table that they have a great team. They allowed us to bring our own cake for tonight’s double birthday celebration which is a plus. I highly recommend this place. It was a great first impression and I am certainly coming back for our next visit in the area.

Stayed there for one night. The service, room, food, and the place overall were astonishing—far beyond our expectations. Prices are fair and reasonable. I only hope that, in the future, well-behaved and friendly dog(s) will be allowed in the main restaurant. They are part of the family, after all.

Lovely old farmhouse with a very cosy feel. Excellent food at dinner and breakfast. Nice warm rooms with comfy beds, highly recommended for a night away and dinner!

We had a Sunday lunch in the garden. Two vegan Lasagne, mocktails and vegan cakes were delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend for a gourmet meal without feeling like the place is too fancy.

Spent one evening as a short local getaway. Was so pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service, firstly we were very kindly offered an upgrade to our already gorgeous room in the barn to a stunning room overlooking the courtyard, next we were given a table at the bar despite not making a booking, and fully taken care of by the staff. The food was exceptional- would highly highly recommend the 10oz 40 day dry aged steak and hand dived scallops. Breakfast was divine with a generous menu and buffet spread. Last but not least the stay itself was wonderful, the grounds are garden are gorgeous, perfectly tucked away near the A1 and would happily visit again.

our second time at farmhouse redcoats, this place is now my favourite restaurant in hertfordshire. love the fact they grown many of their own veg. we opted for the outside dinner feast over fire, it was a lovely day and the food was amazing. the chef even spared the time to show us the veg garden. service and food is top notch and the athmosphere really nice. by end of meal there was small discrepency/misunderstanding on the bill but was quickly resolved

The level of service at the Farmhouse is sensational. Everyone was so helpful, kind, fabulous. I’ve not experienced such a high level of restaurant service for a while. They were very clear and helpful with allergens and had a whole vegan menu that was great to see. Lots of parking too. Looking forward to going back.

Wow, This was a find ! Incredible service . Super friendly staff . We had a late lunch from the bar menu and it was superb. Beautiful location. Definitely returning.

The food was so good, I wish I ordered more. The service was exceptional, our waiteress jade was very nice and accommodating.

Attended our son's wedding here and cannot fault it from beginning to end. Ceremony was beautiful, food excellent and superb staff, especially Lorraine on reception who was very helpful.

We celebrated my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, and it couldn't have been better! The food was stunning – every dish was a delight, and the atmosphere was so warm and inviting. Massive shoutout to Matt for his fabulous service, making the night extra special for us. The whole team truly went above and beyond, and we can't wait to come back for more!

We've just had a lovely festive lunch here at Redcoats. We were in The Old Kitchen, so had the place to ourselves, and it was so cosy and festive. In fact the whole hotel was warm and festive, and it's nice to go somewhere that has a bit of character - a bit of a rarity these days! Everyone we have encountered, from booking it, through to everyone working there today, has been very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our waitress- I'm ashamed to say that I'm not sure if her name is Fem or Fern - was fantastic, a brilliant hostess, who looked after us so well. The food itself was delicious, our whole party really enjoyed their food. I would definitely recommend Redcuats and I am already planning my next visit.

We had our wedding at The Barns at Redcoats in September, we fell in love with the venue when we viewed in January and the team did not disappoint! Megan was super attentive throughout planning and made the day feel so relaxed. A huge thank you to the head chef who was so accommodating in our menu tweaks, everyone thoroughly enjoyed our BBQ wedding breakfast. If we had one small comment it would be that we didn't get pizza in our room at the end of the night as requested. Other than that a fantastic day was had by all, and we had so many compliments on how stunning the barn is and how fantastic the staff are. Thank you!

You feel calm as soon as you arrive. Beautiful surroundings, very picturesque. Lovely staff. The food is amazing. Well worth a visit!

From the very first viewing, we were absolutely blown away by the pure beauty and atmosphere of The Farmhouse, Redcoats. It’s the perfect blend of modern style and rustic charm :elegant, fun, and full of character. Choosing it as our venue was a no-brainer. The staff were incredible from start to finish. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our day special. Our wedding coordinator, Charli Castell, was an absolute legend; so patient, organised, and lovely (even after putting up with our 20,000 emails!). On the day itself, everything ran perfectly. Charli’s calm presence helped ease my nerves, the bar staff made every guest feel special, and the food… delish! Every single person commented on how amazing all three courses were! (The restaurant food in general is also outstanding — definitely book a table if you can!) Thank you for giving us the most magical day and memories we’ll treasure forever.

This is our favourite place to dine out. The staff are all amazing. Anita always goes the extra mile to ensure we have the best dining experience. The Sunday roast is excellent everytime we visit. We visit the farmhouse frequently and it never ever disappoints.

We came to Redcoats to celebrate our wedding anniversary, having held our wedding reception there 25 years earlier. The evening was magical. The staff couldn’t have done more for us and made the evening so special. The food was wonderful and I would recommend Redcoats wholeheartedly to anyone. I will hold the memory of our night dearly. If you have a chance to go, I hope your experience is as enjoyable as ours was.

Really enjoyed this restaurant, great service, creative tasty menu with lots of choice and great service. Im not a vegetarian but the vegetarian starter and main looked so appealing that I went for them and they were absolutely fabulous, full of interesting flavours, textures and delicious. Highly recommended and I will definitely return

We celebrated my husband’s 80th birthday with family and friends in the Victoria Room. From the time I booked everyone was very friendly and helpful. On the day the service was good and the food was excellent; all the guests enjoyed their meals. My husband had a wonderful time.

We spent the day/night at the Farmhouse barns for a wedding. The venue is stunning and staff were extremely polite and helpful. The rooms were clean and modern looking. We had a continental/cooked breakfast in the morning which was also delicious. 5 stars from us!

Very convenient - for a place that's "out in the country". Excellent and friendly service. Nice relaxed atmosphere - and comfy chairs in which to sit and chat.

Stayed here after a wedding. Really enjoyed it. Rooms very clean and beautifully decorated. Well stocked tea tray. The breakfast was excellent, choice amazing. Would highly recommend

Fantastic experience. So welcoming, treated our dogs like pampered pooches with treats and water bowls brought to the fire. Food and service excellent. Ambience amazing. What a lucky find.

Enjoyed a fab birthday meal at the Farmhouse, Jade was very attentive and all employees were friendly and welcoming. The food as always was good quality, and tasty - credit to the chefs. A hidden gem with great food, atmosphere, and service.

We had a super afternoon tea here. The food was beautifully fresh and well presented and the staff were helpful. There were good options for vegetarians. Highly recommend.

It was our second time having a meal at this beautiful restaurant. We had an amazing server named Megan who really looked after us. As usual the food was phenomenal. I had a misunderstanding about a menu item and the manager (I believe her name was Jill) was super understanding and accommodated my dietary restrictions and preferences. I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible lunch experience we had today.

Great burger, good overall service. Easy parking and family friendly. Would like to come back and stay one day. The Farmhouse at Redcoats is a charming historic spot tucked away in the Hertfordshire countryside – a beautiful 15th-century building with lovely gardens and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Perfect for families, with plenty of space and a menu that keeps everyone happy. Had the burger and it was spot on: juicy, well-seasoned patty with fresh toppings and great buns – one of the better ones I've had locally. Service was friendly and efficient throughout, nothing rushed. Plenty of easy free parking on site, which is always a bonus, and the whole place feels super family-friendly with its cosy atmosphere and outdoor areas. Already eyeing up a return visit – next time I'd love to stay overnight in one of their characterful rooms. Highly recommend for a relaxed meal out!

Very a very lovely atmosphere. Our waitress Orla was exceptional. I suffer with allergies and she was very attentive and made things work with dishes to suit me. Exceptional service!

I booked the Farmhouse at Redcoats for my best friend’s 60th birthday lunch. It’s a lovely venue, and the staff kindly provided an extra dessert treat for the birthday girl, which she enjoyed. However, there were some disappointing aspects to our visit. If you have any dietary restrictions, the options are very limited and not easily accommodated. I am pescatarian and unable to consume dairy due to health reasons, which meant my choices were extremely restricted. It was a warm day in early July, and the restaurant had an influx of flies and wasps. Unfortunately, my sister was stung by a wasp, which put a damper on the occasion. I also noticed dead insects on the sides, which appeared as though they had been there for quite some time, raising concerns about the standard of cleaning. While I am glad the birthday girl enjoyed her special meal, overall the experience fell short of expectations.

The restaurant is a beautiful setting with a lovely rustic feel. We stayed until it was dark outside, and not once felt rushed or pressured to leave. Even when their dinner service was due to commence they offered us to continue our visit at the bar. There were so many staff members, all of which were very attentive and checked back on us many times. The afternoon tea was served with unlimited tea and coffee. I decided to try something new and had the Darjeeling tea and it definitely won’t be my last time! We also decided to order a latte later on after seeing how good another customers looked and it was delicious. The sandwich options were smoked salmon, turkey with stuffing and egg with salad cream and we also had a lovely homemade sausage roll with crispy onions. The cakes were a bit of a mixed bag, the chocolate and cherry mousse was definitely my favourite but we weren’t overly keen on the fig and carrot cakes. We were also served both plain and fruit scones. I do feel the price point is fair for the overall experience but if you can visit during the week you will pay a little less.

Six of us went for dinner yesterday evening and the food and service was superb. A shout out for our server Che who was very attentive.

I recently went to Redcoats for a festive Afternoon Tea with friends. We were so disappointed! I had recommended that we come here after I had been a couple of months earlier and had a good experience! The sandwiches were mediocre, the egg tasted odd, the turkey brioche burger buns were tasteless and the salmon on rye bread were ok but were very strongly fishy (if that’s a thing!). The scones were cold and crumbly almost stale and hard. The small cakes very sweet and unappetising. I did complain about the scones as they for me are the best bit! The waitress just said sorry. The service was fantastic and the location and ambiance lovely but really couldn’t justify the £35 for the tea. I complained again when being presented with the bill but nothing was done! Not really what you would expect from The Farmhouse! Won’t be returning for a Cream Tea I’m afraid!

Great location, friendly staff and very pretty rooms. Sadly food not up to much - had the festive menu for a family party. Ordered one week ahead. Turkey was very dry. Gluten free offering very poor - no gluten free pigs in blankets or yorkshires (readily available at supermarkets) and poor offering of vegetables (only brussels, parsnips and roast potatoes). Very beige! Expected more from the food.

Went for a family meal on Saturday... Cold night but not very warm in the restaurant.. Disappointed that you order a pint of lemonade and actually get a glass half filled with ice ! And you order sticky toffee pudding and the pudding is stone cold ... its supposed to be HOT... Lovely place to eat.. but half filled with ice is not on...
