This place is wonderful! The food is fresh and the staff are really nice. The ladies know my order before I even place it and I'm not even a regular. I wish the parking/location were better but it's still a great spot.
We had a long drive yesterday 11/11/25 including several doctor appointments for my mother. She was not feeling well and extremely hungry. We did not realize the restaurant closed at 7:00. This particular day since morning my mom stated how she was craving Antone's Tabouli and sandwiches. We drove 16 miles out of the way and through rush hour to arrive. I felt so bad coming in at 6:42pm but the manager allowed us in to order. We got 5 sandwiches and 3 Tabouli salads to go. My mom was feeling famished & sat to eat a little while they were making 2 of the sandwiches. The manager with a smile unlocked the door to let us out. My daughter was in dance class & just before leaving she finally saw her phone to see that I accidentally grabbed the incorrect pre-made sandwich. I went back knocking on the door to ask if I could please trade. I didn't care that I paid more for the one I was trading. The manager unlocked the door & again with a smile traded them. Thank you to the staff that was so kind with patience to us. The food is amazing. We enjoyed our meals at my mom's. Especially the Tabouli.
I have eaten these sandwiches premade out of the grocery stores for years. I love them! Today I saw an actual brick and mortar antones off of TC jester and boy was I not disappointed. The super original was absolutely amazing made fresh! They also had a bunch of other sandwiches, which I did not know they made. I’ll have to come back to try the others on that amazing bread of theirs.
I have been coming here for years and frequently visit 2-3 times a month. The food is always fresh and the service as well. We order here for our company events as well and have never had any issues with our special requests for individually packaging.
Traveled 3 hours to visit my sister while we attended an Astros game. On the way home I stopped by Antone's as I often do when in town. I got a Muffuletta, and a side of the muffuleta olive salad. The sandwich made me want to cry it was so good. I LOVE this place, and I've never had a bad experience.
Longtime Houston Favorite..Antones Sandwichs are sold in grocery stores all over town. For the best taste and quality you cant beat a freshly made Sandwich ordered in the shop. My favorite is the Super..cut in half to take home after I dine IN.. the pleasant ambiance of the home store..served with chips and a nice sweet tea...and a side of excellent gumbo..the sandwich lasts in the fridge 4 days from date it was made..I usually eat a half and save some for lunch or dinner..Sandwiches are listed at 900 calories..so half a sandwich is 450 or so..take home some of thier famous chow-chow in a jar which can be used on virtually anything you eat..or add more to your grocery store bought sandwich..Carried by Kroger..Randals..HEB..delicious..if you aren't hungry by now then read this review again..get in your car and go get sum..
Came because it wasn’t too far from where I needed to go. I was a bit torn between getting the brisket sandwich or the Tex Mex cheesesteak and the gentleman that was working at the register suggested the Tex Mex and I’m so glad I listened to his suggestion because it was awesome. I also got a side of the chipotle and the Cajun mayonnaise and that was just the icing on the cake. The service was excellent. Had such a fantastic time and would recommend this place if you’re in the area.
I got the tex mex Philly cheese steak sandwich! I was very skeptical at first but man this hit the spot, I have to try a few more before I can say they’re better then papa genos but so far it’s just as delicious and fulfilling! Not going to lie the Cubano looks even better then this so might get that next time! The only thing is this place doesn’t have condiments so kinda threw me off but the jalapeño on the side was different and I liked that so all in all I give it a 8 out of 10 for the flavor and 10 out of 10 for the quick speedy service! Very quiet and friendly environment!
I got lost and ended up here to grab lunch. I ordered a banh mi style chicken wrap and they gave me something different. Because it definitely was not a wrap and didn't taste like chicken. Looking at their menu, I think they gave me Dr Hotez Bahn mi. It was good so I'm not complaining. Will definitely come back and try their other menu items.
I enjoy stopping by here when I'm in town. This visit wasn't a good one though, I had my sister with me who needed the handicap spot but we couldn't park there because an employee was parked it. So she stayed in the vehicle while I went inside. I told the staff and the manager found out who's car it was and offer to have it moved. It shouldn't have been there first and they should have just told them to move it.
Reliable, quick and tasty sandwiches. Great assortment of sodas and chips to accompany your sammy. For something a little different, try the Cubano, one of the best in town!
Im not big on seafood but this really did hit the spot. Everything came out fresh and relatively quick for a sit down restaurant. Got the po-boy with fries and a Joes Mango Lemonade. The food is a bit on the pricy side but that’s expected for most seafood but the quality was good. My cousin got the chicken sandwich & it tasted good but said the crust was a bit hard and hurt to eat. In terms of food and quality, this is what I would consider a sometimes spot where you should at least bring company when you go in to make the experience more enjoyable. Im very interested in trying their cold cut sandwiches. Would recommend but only every so often.
I ordered a brisket sandwich and got what should be called a pot roast sandwich. There was no mistaking what was on the sandwich for brisket. No chance at all. Not even if they put BBQ sauce on it 😕 oh well I will just order something else next time.
i just ate the piggy, it sounded so appetizing, but then i ate into it and thought, “the piggy?! oh this must be made for the piggy to eat, cause this taste like slop from a trough!” love this place no hate. i just thought this sandwich was 3 out of five stars today :)
Disappointed with the drive thru service and quality of my sandwich. I went through the drive-thru had a hard time placing my order because the guy said he couldn't hear me. I finally got the order placed and confirmed. Once I got to the window I could see why he couldn't hear me because he had earbuds in both ears. 🙄 Ive been bragging about this place all week and I went to get poboys for myself and a friend and we both were dissatisfied. I order 2 Super Original Sandwiches, but that's not what I received. (Shown in pics) *Super Original* Same as the Original, but with **Extra Meat and Cheese** (Original) Ham, Salami, Provolone, Chow Chow, Mayo and Pickles Too far of a drive for the Hassle.
Growing up in Houston, this was my favorite sandwich. I came to Houston for a visit and this tasted like a sandwich from a grocery store bakery. Sad. The bread was ehat made them so good and they obviously switched vendors.
Been eating these for 40 years grab n go sad to say they have cut way back on ingredients as well as deleted condiments like pickles and chow chow etc I'd rather pay more than see you alter the quality of your original products no where near the original seriously gone to crap you should be ashamed. If your patrons only knew the original sandwich they would know Do Better
Sadly, this place continues to go down hill. I have eaten Antone's Super Poboy since I was 6 years old with my Dad (57 years ago) when he he worked downtown. I always loved the way the original shop on Taft Road smelled. Against my better judgment, I stopped by and ordered the Super with extra chow chow. I saw a look of disappointment when the woman saw I only tipped $1. I guess that's why, even though she asked if I was dining in or to go, she gave me a wrapped sandwich instead of an open faced sandwich in the basket like the people at the other tables. Of course, there was no extra chow chow either. Not that someone who takes orders at the counter deserves a tip, but that is exactly why it was not 2 or 3 dollars. They never add extra chow chow anymore when I ask. So that is it with these folks! Maybe that's also why there are not many stores left in Houston like there were years back. The people don't care. And for $10 a sandwich, that's a crime. Bye bye Antone's!
Original Sandwich, not freshly made. I went through the drive thru to ensure that my food would be fresh and it wasn't. This was the first time I was ever handed a not so good sandwich. I was disappointed. I told myself I was going to eat a freshly made sandwich from Antone's today and I got soggy bread, old chow chow, the meats and cheese were sticking to the bread. The pickles were even dry. I cut it in half with a fork, normally that is impossible because of the fresh bread. I was disappointed. I bought my daughter a turkey and Swiss so she can have it later. I'm afraid to open it and be disappointed too. I would like to do over this experience, it could have been better.
