At Cactus Cove, we're all about creating a cozy space where friends and family can gather 'round for hearty comfort foods, craft beers, and lively games on our TVs. CC has good fried and grilled food. Lots of TV's and a nice deck. Kenny keeps things moving well and other bar tenders are also good. Food staff are very responsive as well.
Went here with some work friends on a Friday afternoon. The crawfish, shrimp and sausage were on point and super good. The philly cheesesteak eggrolls were a hit as well. Came with about 13 people around 4 and ended up playing texas holdem in a back room and staying till 10. Great place to hang with good food and drinks. Hard to go wrong if you like beer and cajun food.
I came in here with a group of friends a few weeks ago and had a great time here! I ordered the cactus water and some food and everything was good here! It was clean and the staff were nice and quick to take our orders and bring our food out! Would definitely recommend for people looking for a place to hang out with friends and get a few drinks!
We there to watch Patriots vs Texans. For first time being here without knowing it was there house... lol. it was awesome. No fighting, food was great, customer was great everyone got along even made new friends 😀. I wouldn't mind going here again.
I went on a sunday night for early bird karaoke. It was amazing!!! I brought my boys who love karaoke too and my husband, and we enjoyed a very chill, relaxed environment on the outside patio. I think I appreciate the most, the fact that you can bring your kids. It is a totally family and pet friendly establishment. The KJ,Nelson Messenger has one of the best sound systems I've ever sang on, and he is fantastic. My boys had too much fun. I had so much fun. The singers were amazing. The drinks were strong. You know, sometimes you go to a bar and they give you a drink that is more water than anything or just not strong enough, and the prices are affordable. They have $10 burgers with fries, $10 wings and fries. They have good menu. It has to be one of the best places I've been in such a long time. We will definitely be back.
WAY better than I was led to believe by the Google reviews. Tonight (Sunday night) was my first time in this place. I came here because a friend of a friend had told me they had a solid (and early) karaoke show here on Sunday nights between 7 and 10. I pulled up about 655 p.m. Nelson is probably the best karaoke jock in this area. Everything sounded great. A few good regular singers, but certainly not a large crowd, so I got to sing 3-4 times. I ate before I came, so I wouldn't have to order food, but my friend Robert (a regular here and a phenomenal singer) made me agree to share his chicken(?) quesadilla with him before he would order it. The food was good...plenty of fresh salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the plate. Service at the bar was phenomenal! Angie took great care of me. Never had to wait long for a drink and the pour was man-sized. I'm not even mad they wanted over $10 for a Lone Star long neck and a well tequila, because the pour was good, the bathroom was clean, and Angie had a smile and an upbeat positive attitude. I told her how rare she was. I'll be back, ya'll. Thanks for everything! Update 12/2025: Second time I've been here...Still an awesome spot. Angie's still beyond awesome. Nelson, and the karaoke in general, is still the best in town. The word is obviously getting out, because there are about double the singers here tonight as there were last time. Still a clean restroom and affordable booze, considering the venue. I didn't mention him the last time, but Tanner the busser/food runner is very helpful and kind. They've built a pretty good Sunday night team, except for the young black man (busser? Barback? Who knows? I didn't see him doing a lot of work) who told me there was an ATM at the corner store 2 minutes away. It was actually 5 minutes away at a brisk walk, and the store was closed, at before 7 on a Sunday evening.
With a Masters in Culinary Arts, and as a Executive Chef of fine dining restaurants, this little hole the wall was surprisingly outstanding. All the dishes and desserts served our party of 12 were all outstanding. I had the grilled chicken breast, mashed potatoes and a very excellent mushrooms with spinach in an excellent sauce that I would be proud to serve in Beverly Hill's, California any time. This place is an unique experience for one to try and add to their list of great restaurants in the Houston area. We'll done and 2 thumbs up most definitely.
Great food and service. Great atmosphere and awesome staff! Jen is amazing and a friendly bartender that takes great care of her customers and works hard to make us feel welcome. She is the the reason most of us come here. Thank you, Jen!
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this location! The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the level of service exceeded my expectations. Everything about my visit was excellent, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for exceptional service and a great overall experience.
Very cozy bar with surprisingly good food! Great spot to hang out, watch a game, or just grab some dinner. The only complaint I have is outside of the busses and kitchen crew in the back, the bartender was the only one interacting with customers taking all orders and tending bar at the same time. So there was a line to order at all times. So the service was a bit on the slow side, but I am honestly impressed how well he did.
Super laidback/casual bar with good and huge food portions and strong drinks. Food came out hot. Good mix of music genre. Very friendly and welcoming staff. They are very busy during happy hour time so the line to order everything at the bar can be long but moves quickly if you know what you’re ordering. Plenty parking outside.
Always a good experience. This last time whoever had the early 2000s playlist needs a raise haha. Perfect way to start out spring break. The mango habanero chicken bites are a MUST HAVE! I wish they had more frozen drinks or their machine worked better. Other than that no complains and great atmosphere.

This place is an awesome place to chill and is truly a diamond in the rough. From the leather chairs to watch games on their tv’s to the awesome and big, dog friendly patio. Their drinks aren’t too expensive, but mixed well. They have super cool large booths for groups and really cool decor across the whole place. And to end it all their food is absolutely top notch as the most surprising welcome feature of this place. Will continue to go there!
Came here for lunch! We ordered the Texas Frito Chili Pie and the Philly cheesecake. The food was tasty and tasted fresh. Our beers were cold. Our food came quickly and the server was very kind and quick to help us. They have a ton of beer options (including some local craft favorites!) There's plenty of parking and the patio is nice! We will definitely be coming back.
This dinner was probably the best food I’ve ever had at a “fancy” restaurant. Not that other restaurants aren’t also amazing, but every single bite was so amazing. The service was excellent and the wait staff was very knowledgeable. 10 out of 10 would eat there again (if there wasn’t a million other great places to try)!
Had some happy hour bites (loaded tots and chicken bites) then finished off with some crawfish. They were a little small but good flavor
Went here on a Tuesday night because I heard about their $3 taco & $7 margarita specials. I went straight to an open table since there wasn’t a host or anyone at the door. I assumed someone would walk over to our table to serve us. Luckily, Tanner (very awesome guy) informed us that we have to order at the bar then the food would be served to our table. Tanner gave us lots of suggestions on the menu and made us feel welcome. I decided to order 1 taco of each meat (the brisket and chicken were my favorite. As far as the margaritas, I appreciate the fresh lime but it was way too tart to enjoy. I’d suggest adding a flavor like Strawberry syrup to get rid of the tartness. I’m not sure if this is a normal issue there but the restroom smelled like a sewer…
There were some issues with the quantity of food, but it was resolved in a timely manner. The food taste great, l like the lime shots. They have water, sweet tea also to go boxes served on the side, so it’s kind convenient. You need to order from the bar so it might get little bit frustrating when it’s Friday or weekend. Overall it’s a nice place to chill and have some drinks with friends.
Stopped by Cactus Cove today and it was an absolute mess. The first thing that hit me wasn’t the decor or the menu, it was the smell. The entire place reeked like sewage, and it never got better. There was zero guidance on how anything works. No greeting, no “seat yourself,” no “order at the bar,” nothing. I took a menu and sat at a table thinking someone would eventually acknowledge me. Ten minutes passed and still not a single word from staff. It honestly felt like customers were an inconvenience. The place looked dead, with empty tables and no food in sight, which made the painfully slow or nonexistent service even more confusing. Add in the sour attitude from behind the bar and it was an easy decision to leave without ordering. Hard pass. Don’t waste your time or your appetite here. There are plenty of better options that won’t make you feel ignored while sitting in a cloud of funk.
I went to Cactus Cove and honestly wish I hadn’t. The place smelled like straight-up sewage. I don’t know if they have plumbing issues or if the stench is just part of the atmosphere, but it was disgusting and impossible to ignore. From the moment I walked in, no one greeted me. Not a single word. I grabbed a menu myself and sat at a table, assuming someone would explain how ordering works. Nope. I sat there for about 10 minutes while staff walked around like I didn’t exist. No one told me whether I was supposed to order at the bar, wait for a server, seat myself, or perform some secret ritual to get service. None of the tables had food or drinks, so either service is painfully slow or nobody was being helped at all. Combined with the smell and the completely uninterested attitude from the bartender, it was enough to kill any appetite instantly. Do yourself a favor and skip this place entirely. I wouldn’t recommend Cactus Cove to my worst enemy. Save your time, your nose, and your patience and go literally anywhere else.
