Solid food!!! The grilled pork vermicelli is so good, lots of meat, paired with the crunchy veggies, every bite is perfect. I have sensitive stomach so eating out leaves me feeling uncomfortable and bloated a lot of the times, but the dishes at this place just tasted like fresh, good quality “real food”, my stomach felt great afterwards. The meatball soup leftover I got turned into gelatin in my fridge, heard that’s an indication of good soup. Def going back to try their pho.

Cali Sandwich always hits the spot when I’m in Downtown. Andrew and his family are always so warm and welcoming. Highly suggest this place if you’re in downtown for great Vietnamese classics.

Houston's lunch scene never disappoints, and Cali Sandwich & Pho was a delightful discovery. The atmosphere was casual and inviting, perfect for a midday break. We dove straight into the menu, and the grilled pork Banh Mi was a revelation. The crusty baguette held a perfect balance of sweet and savory with the tangy pickled vegetables and the melt-in-your-mouth BBQ pork. We shared an order of crispy fried egg rolls, the delicate spring rolls bursting with savory goodness. But the star of the show was the bo luc lac. The cubes of marinated beef were beautifully tender, the caramelized sauce clinging to them like a sweet dream. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. The service was friendly and prompt, ensuring our lunch flowed smoothly. We left Cali Sandwich & Pho feeling happy and utterly satisfied. If you're looking for a taste of Vietnamese cuisine in Houston, this spot is a must-try!

I have been a customer for years and haven’t been in a while due to some construction that is finally finished and I honestly was so happy to be back! The family oriented restaurant is a 5 star in my book! Everything is always soo fresh and delicious! Best Pho in town!!

Stopped by to have lunch one day. I'm very particular about tofu dishes, so I tried the Cali Spicy Garlic Tofu to see how it was. I chose vegetables instead of rice. The tofu was absolutely fantastic and I was very pleased with the dish. They did a wonderful job of seasoning the dish which most places I've tried have come up short. I appreciated having several vegetarian options to choose from. Since there were several tofu dishes on the menu, I stopped by on another day and tried the Tofu in Curry Sauce. It was absolutely delicious as well. I can say that they are consistent in their food preparation. Also, the service was excellent. Will definitely be back to try another vegetarian dish. In addition, their entire menu has a vast amount of items to choose from. There is definitely something for everyone.

I came here before, last year and loved it so had to come back. I parked in their parking lot and walked in. We were greeted by a nice guy and was told to sit anywhere. I ordered a large lemonade which I enjoyed and was huge fyi. I ordered the rice noodles and shrimp and my friend ordered the same with an egg roll. When the food came out they had a fish sauce to add to the dish and it made the dish that much better. The food was very good but it had too much vegetables but I still loved it. The total for me came to $13 which was a good deal. I had a good experience.

The food is good, I cNt so them anymore but the egg rolls are fantastic. Rice dishes and sandwiches are very good as are many of the Luc Luc (garlicky dishes). There is better pho out there. Sometimes the place has a smell that can be off-putting and even though they have been there for years it almost looks like they are still moving in. Been coming back for over a decade and honestly would come more if they cleaned up a bit more.

Good food, quick service. If you’re going bc the ambience is amazing or the floors are spotless, ehhh. There’s a lot of “vegetarian” items that aren’t actually vegetarian (oyster sauce, fish sauce). Many of the tofu dishes have the tofu already marinated in oyster sauce. If you’re a meat eater and want great, fresh, well priced food, you’re in the right spot.

Saw that the "Worth It" show guys stopped in when they were in Houston and recommended it, so we thought we'd give it a try. We got Banh Mi sandwiches; Cali combo, pork roll, and tofu. All three were excellent and large for the price of $4. The tofu surprised me the most, had the flavor of grill meat. We also got egg rolls, which were different but awesome. And tofu spring rolls. Which were really big, but probably would have been better left as they come. We took our food to go, but this is a large space and has plenty of seating. A no frills place, but good food and portion sizes for the price.

I saw this place on Eat Like A Local episode, was excited to try an authentic bahn mi and Vietnamese noodle bowl with pork. Super disappointed. I usually eat Vietnamese food at least once every two weeks, right now I am loving #PhoFix but, the way they cut the meat in the bowls is not appetizing, and actually some of the other hot entrees with rice looked better, and maybe they are, but they need to put some money back into this restaurant and get better lighting, tables, and menus that are laminated. Just not good.

I didn’t eat this fresh but air fired it the following day. The bread was crunchy. Overall a good test of a sandwich. I didn’t quite like some of the cold cuts. The combination of them didn’t work well together especially the pork loaf and ham.
