Get the fried catfish poboy. It's probably the best in town. Very tasty and the fried catfish is slightly crunchy. The bread is authentic crispy style baguette, not the soft hoagie bread many other places use. The $17 large size is plenty big enough for two people. Don't get the gumbo. Avoid the gumbo at all cost. It's so sugary sweet, I almost spit it out. My first thought was, is this roux flavored pancake syrup ? Clearly, the owner has no clue about this insult to the word gumbo. The 2nd insult was the number of pieces of okra. In the largest size container you can buy here, only one slice of okra is an insult, considering gumbo comes from an African word meaning okra. The 3rd insult was the transparency of the tan color (clearly not browned longer than needed to reach a tan color roux). The best way to describe it would be to add so much water to the tan colored roux, so that it comes out so transparent you can see through it when poured from your spoon. Then thicken it when lots of starch. Totally disgraceful. The service is polite, but service with a smile does not exist here. The prices are very fair for what you get. The tables and floor are clean, but every movement of any chair is super loud, because the floor is tile, and the chairs are entirely metal with no soft foot pads on the legs. A Wi-Fi account is setup for guests, but the cashier said nobody knows the password, because the owner refuses to give out the password. Another disappointment. So in summary, get the fried catfish poboy for take out, don't dine in, and avoid the gumbo at all cost. Over half of my gumbo went into the trash, after I picked out and ate the syrupy flavored chicken and shrimp.

First visit but NOT the last! I loved the fried rice & the gumbo ! The chicken was good an crispy. The cashier was soooooo kind, knowledgeable of the restaurant menu, & had a great attitude. The chef also came frm the back an ensured everything was good an fresh for us. 8.7/10

First of all I love good service! And the lady was just amazing and giving wonderful recommendations! I didn’t even take a picture of everything lol The best thing was the roast beef and shrimp!! Omg it was delicious and the French bread was THE FRENCH BREAD! Wasn’t really happy with the platter well the shrimp on it but honestly it’s a preference thing! Overall this is a gem spot! Go enjoy lunch here

Sandwiches was excellent, I loved the French bread ( Not pistolet bread), the gumbo was seasoned well and the spices opened my sinus which makes it a Dam Good gumbo :-), I sampled the dariquari was not to my taste. It had to much alcohol that over powered the flavor. This restaurant will stay on my To Do List.

Food was seasoned well, but a little salty IMO. The fried rice is amazing. I ordered the two piece grilled catfish fillet platter and the 1 piece grilled catfish platter with shrimp. I'm about 95% sure that the fish was Swai, which is much cheaper than catfish. I know my catfish. If you guys are using Swai instead of catfish, that is not being very honest to customers who are paying catfish. Please be transparent with customers!

I told Jennifer My food was dropped off. By the way there's no sign says that you have to keep the food to bring it back.... Will I have no transportation so I asked can bring it back later or come back some other time she tells me No... Just bad customer service forget them I'm just stuck out with a wrong cooked soggy 😭 order why should I pay for their mistakes she didn't care and wasn't going to back and forth with me... no thank you. + The fries are really greasy stay away from them

The poor boy bread was good way too light on the amount of shrimp.. gumbo was not right. Roux was not made right

Went to this location to get a shrimp poboy combo. Poboy had very few shrimp and the shrimp looked old, not fresh. I called Nathan and his actual words were to return the actual sandwich and they will switch it out". It was after 8pm and I live in Katy, tx. His response was to return the sandwich tomorrow. I wonder if I got someone's switched out sandwich. Receipt says no refund so you are stuck. Beware of the place. Stay away!

Horrible experience at this location today! You never even have customers and I see why. A few days ago I ordered a red velvet cheese cake that was so stale and hard but they refused to refund me advised I can only exchange for another stale cake. I was upset at that but I said let me give them another try and the same person chino (manager) was there so rude and condescending you should not have people like him working with customers. You guys will not be open long if you continue to hire people like him. I will never be back

Ms.Jennifer the manager & the African American gentleman did not consign me with good customer service. Jennifer had a horrible attitude, didn’t attempt to accommodate me over an EIGHT dollar order! They had given me OLD gumbo filled with nothing but grease, numerous customers complained. I had food poisoning behind this and was sick all last night until the next morning. I couldn’t eat anything at all due to this issue. They refused to make my experience better after I informed them Both I’m a manager and could not leave the location at the workforce during that time. I would not recommend coming here. If you get sick, they will not care and will just be like,” OH WELL”. I’m a manager myself, and the customers needs always come first. The African American guy was nice but still not helpful. There was no alternative that they gave me. 0/10 recommend.

Food used to be good but it’s trash now and the customer service is trash. All the employees look like they hate their job and act as if they’re being held hostage and being forced to work there. Don’t waste your time coming here it’s not the same

Where do I start? I am a long time customer of Calliopes ,however it is with great distaste that I have to let this place go. I don’t know what has gotten into them the past couple months but they’ve been tripping on their food!! I asked for simple orders and they couldn’t do it several times. I almost got food poisoning last week and the manager was upset with me also saying that Kalliope has people in the back that make the food for them they just take the money. I mean my pooboy was so hard that I couldn’t even chew and my fries were so hard not even my dogs wanted them . Anyway y’all watch out for their food Something’s not right !!!!!!!ps and no thank you I DO NOT WANT A. REMAKE
