Went here based on other reviews I read. All the other reviews were right about the food and service here. The egg rolls are the best here. Great flavor, fried perfectly. We had the Mongolian beef, lemon chicken, hunan beef, and the chicken fried steak. All excellent choices. The service from Gwen was very thorough and attentive. Helped explained what was popular to try off the menu. Would recommend this place 10/10.
The customer service was exemplary, and the cuisine was outstanding; I highly recommend a visit to this establishment. The staff made us feel at home.
Love this place great service. People that are saying that the portions aren’t large enough you don’t need that much rice anyways
Food was delicious and Carol is the sweetest! The lemon chicken is the best thing ever.
Wonderful food! Service was spot on, place is a little run down, but it functional. Great sauces!
Finally got to try China Garden after wanting to go since their segment on Eat Like A Local last year. And wouldn't you know it, I go to pick up my order and there she is, the owner herself, working the hostess stand. Absolutely as charming as she was on TV. Food was securely packed, no leakages. Got a HUGE container of rice for our two entrees. Food was incredible, we got spicy chicken, twice cooked pork, and of course the egg rolls. The pork was char siu style which I did not expect, but it was my favorite of the two. Will absolutely be back and while we didn't go with it this time I'm excited to try the lemon chicken next.
I don’t know where to start because everything was so good. I was with a big group so I tried lots of different dishes. Beef with bok choy was perfectly cooked. The lemon chicken was amazing. The spicy shrimp was other worldly and the egg roll was nice and crunchy. I could go on and on. Very highly recommend.
This is the place my family has been looking for!! Old school Chinese food with owners and staff that treat you like family! Was told the oldest Chinese restaurant in Houston. A must visit and cool it has a bar too. If you going to Rockets game this is the place to visit before game. They have earned a lifetime customer. Thanks
We ordered the lemon chicken plate and the sweet and sour chicken- so good!! Food was made fresh, and everything tasted great! The egg rolls... WOW! And that's coming from someone who is usually indifferent to egg rolls. Would def come back
Best in town! Healthy and Tasty food!! Feels like home with Good People. I'd keep trying everything on the menus before settling with my favorites (so far: egg rolls and lemon chicken). See for yourself and rest assured that at least 1 item on the menus would suit. In the unlikely event of feeling short of satisfaction, just inform the staff or owner Carol the great, who can upgrade happiness in real time. This place has been making this city/country better for over 50 years! By "Healthy", I mean the most nutritious blend of ingredients with minimal amount of fat. By "Tasty", I mean delicious Cantonese cuisine, that's most delicately flavored among Chinese styles, with focus on enhancing natural goodness, rather than masking with heavy spices.
As a professional traveler, I've tried hundreds of restaurants over the years, and China Garden Houston is in my top ten favorites!
Really outstanding food and service! I had the shrimp and lobster sauce I've been trying to find this for years the way it's made. They told me it is Cantonese style and I haven't been able to find this type of recipe anywhere. We also had the beef and broccoli which is very good also. Great service & friendly atmosphere. Give them a try you'll be glad you did! Mindy does a great job.You are lucky to have her. She is helping you get repeat business.
Food and service were impecable! This was our first time, but it definitely won't be our last! We both had kung Pao and shared some vegetable dumplings and we have 0 complaints. In time we hope they try to modernize a little as far as decor, but it doesn't take away from such amazing food and service. Even better than Asian food in Alief!
I had the pleasure of dining at China Garden for the first time today, and I can honestly say it won’t be my last. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and kindness—the service was truly above and beyond. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. Now let’s talk about the food—wow. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. But I have to give a special shoutout to their huge egg rolls—crispy on the outside, packed with delicious filling, and full of flavor. Easily some of the best I’ve ever had. I came in hungry and left full, happy, and already planning my next visit. Thank you, China Garden, for such a wonderful experience!
The first and oldest Chinese restaurant doesn’t disappoint! The atmosphere is old school and charming, the Chinese American style food fantastic, and the service is extremely friendly regardless of how busy they are. I went here twice for two peak dinner rushes during the extremely busy Robotics World Championships and was still treated like family. I very much enjoyed my ginger beef & fried pork dumplings.
I really like this restaurant on Leeland St between Crawford an Jackson Sts. The Chinese motif and the large, quiet dining area are big pluses. The food is excellent and served piping hot. I love their egg rolls. The servers are very friendly and attentive. Since I live only ten minutes away, it's very convenient for me, especially in the evening.
Food was excellent. We had the sizzling rice soup, egg roll, lemon chicken and beef chow mein. Everything was excellent. Coming back when I’m in the area
Diamond on the outskirts of Downtown Houston. Just a block south of the Toyota Center. The food is cooked fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the Egg Rolls, Dumplings, Fried Rice and Lemon Chicken. The outside building is weathered but inside brings you into a little piece of China in Houston. They have a parking lot that's free if you dine in. The prices are a little high but reasonable for the "Downtown" area. Enjoy and Bon Appetit!!! 😋😋😋
The food was magnificent! Hand rolled home made egg rolls were fabulous! Kung Pao Chicken and Fried Rice is top notch! Chicken and Vegetables was delicious! Shrimp and Lobster Sauce rich and very filling! The dining room looks virtually unchanged through the years. Put it on your list of places to dine!
Good food. Carol and staff are very friendly and appreciative. Good prices. If you are in Houston by the Toyota Center or George Brown Convention Center, it' right around the corner on Leland.
The lemon chicken was tender and juicy. The best lemon chicken in Houston!! The homemade egg rolls are a must have with the duck sauce. Carol and Angie were amazing and very friendly, they treat you like family. If you want some amazing Chinese food from a place that does it right, then this place is a must.
My son had his 27th birthday dinner here with family and I was able to call and reserve a table large enough for our group. We had excellent service and the food was delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back! Thank you for making his birthday dinner special!
I have been dining and ordering take out since 1988! Best Food and Cooked fresh! This family owned restaurant makes you feel welcomed and part of their family every time!
I absolutely love this place. My mom introduced me to this restaurant as it is her all time favorite. She’s been coming since the 80s and I love it just as much. The family owners are like extended family and I hope they continue to stay in business for many more years. My go to is the fried hot shrimp and crawfish rice. You will literally not find these flavors anywhere else. China Garden is a true speciality. They are currently in need of more staff and I hope they get the right people in. If you’re ever in downtown or catching a game at the Toyota Center, this is less than a mile away!
This place is our tradition to go on Christmas eve. I look forward to this. Egg rolls are amazing. Actually everything is amazing!! We love coming here!!
I don’t eat here often, but when I do, I remember how much I love this place. The family that runs China Garden are the coolest! The decor is super dated, but it’s totally ok because the food is sooooooooo good. Their dishes are excellent, and the fried rice is full of great ingredients and bean sprouts just as I like it. There’s also a full bar and a very nice bartender. And did I mention the family that owns the place? Talk to the cashier, and you’ll get an instant laugh. Great food and a happy experience! What more can you ask for?
The staff was amazing and the food is great. The egg drop soup and the egg rolls are definitely my fave
The food is great and a decent price. You just have to watch out for the bathrooms. They are well used!
Family like atmosphere, great food. I’d call it a hidden gem and hope to come a lot more often as my travel allows. Will be back. Really great people and food.
This is my second time at China Garden and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. With an extensive well - priced menu, great food and great service, I would happily come back here and recommend it. The vegetarian menu is not extensive but the vegetarian dumplings and entree that I had were very delicious.
Came in right after a Rockets game that finished after 9. This restaurant closes at 9 and they were nice enough to allow us to order and eat inside after business hours. The food was delicious, my gf and I shared sweet and sour chicken entree which came with a tasty egg roll. We also ordered cheese puffs and they didn’t disappoint. Everyone was so nice at the door and our waiter was attentive and respectful. We will be back!
I. Have so many words and yet none all at once. For starters? I will never be able to eat at any other Chinese restaurant again. I have been ruined for American Chinese recipes and adaptions of it because this?? This was heaven. This was phenomenal. I took the first bite and tearfully asked my mother why she had never fed me good Chinese food, before eating more. They have texas sized egg rolls and I can never eat an egg roll from anywhere else again, the fried wontons had delicious pork in the center to hold its shape and oh my god it was so tender, they had sauces on the table and I dont know what they were but I could drink a gallon of them in one sitting. Im not even kidding. We ordered the beef fried rice, sweet ans sour chicken, orange chicken, slippery chicken, and Mongolian beef. Oh and the oyster mushrooms with chicken, yes, we like chicken. And oh. My god. I cant even. I have never tasted anything better in my life. I woke up this morning and devoured my leftovers cold before I even had coffee because I dreamt about eating it again. And to top it off?? Our server was the kindest lady. Her name was Mindy and she was so sweet, she was so helpful, she was so polite and understanding and so was the lovely gentleman refilling our drinks. Miss Mindy even gave me and my sibling homemade almond cookies after our meal, just to be nice. She asked us why we were in town and engaged with us and I have never had someone make me feel so at home in their restaurant. China gardens is one of, if not the oldest Chinese restaurant in the area, and it will forever be my favorite Chinese restaurant. I'm coming back next month yall!! Save me a table!
My first experience was great. Egg rolls were top notch, Moo Shu Pork, Sesame chicken and Fried rice were excellent as well. Service was a little slow, but it was right before a Rockets game so they were packed. Service was understandable due to full dining room. Wanted dessert but was too full, dessert options seemed good though.
What a find! Visiting from SoCal so picky about my Chinese food. This place was great, food was on point and super fresh and the owner is amazing. She made us feel so welcome and recommended the best items on the menu…she did not disappoint!
2022: As soon as I saw the yung chou chow mein, I dragged my family here. Our food plans fit right in with our visit to downtown Houston. See, my parents’ friends used to make this dish in my little hometown, but since they’ve retired, no one has filled this hole until China Garden. We had lemon chicken, yung Chou chow mein, wonton soup, mixed vegetables, HUGE and delicious egg rolls, and the ice cream pie for dessert! Oh they threw in some wonderful hush puppies as well. I wish I had extra stomachs. My family and I were in LOVE!! For those reviewers griping about this isn’t authentic, you must not have grown up true Cantonese. What you’ve been eating is no longer whole Cantonese fare at other restaurants, even in Chinatown (yes, SF included). Most Asian restaurants serving dim sum and other dishes are mixed now with a Taiwanese or other Asian flair. So don’t knock this place. We met the owners. Carol is so nice and easy to talk to. Gwen on the staff is fantastic. Their parents created a beautiful legacy that this family is continuing. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!! 2023: We returned late July. Carol recognized us as soon as we walked in the door!! We had the delicious egg rolls again as well as their famous lemon chicken, Yung Chow chow mein, and more! This time we added to our connections when we talked even more with the family, Cameron and Richard. All owners of the restaurant and absolutely fantastic! They’re such a sweet family, which makes the visit a delight and complete. Get to know them. You won’t be disappointed at all.
On the south edge of downtown Houston. Drove past on the way to my hotel a block away. Walked in for dinner, lovely greeting, very courteous Chinese staff, excellent eggs rolls, Mongolian beef plate. I would have gone back for lunch the next day but the serving was so big I had to box half of it for later. Just a nice experience overall.
I have been wanting to come here for nearly 10 years. My mom talked about this place for years and years. Boy, I'm so glad that I went here. Their egg rolls are the stuff of legend! They have HUGE HUGE egg rolls, and they're just like the way I used to have them when I was a kid. The egg rolls alone make this place worth the trip! But what really knocked my socks off was that the fried rice had so much flavor to it! It was out of sight! I was totally caught off guard by how much the fried rice had so flavor and it was nearly a meal unto itself. We also ordered the fried won tons and those were outstanding. We then tried the Hunan beef dish and that was some of the best steak I've had at a Chinese food place. So do yourself a favor and stop by China Garden today!
We ordered the spicy chicken, orange chicken, and grilled chicken plate. Best egg rolls we have ever had in our lives! My fiancée won’t stop raving about the egg rolls. Great service. Each recommendation our waitress suggested was a hit. The bar looked inviting. My only regret was not ordering a drink.
It's no wonder this place has been open and successful for so long! What a great meal! Look no further for amazing Cantonese food with wonderful, personalized service. This is a small, family owned and operated place and it shows. These folks are so friendly! They remember your name and treat you like part of the family. They cook for you that way as well! We tried a bit of everything and let me tell you, it was all delicious. The egg rolls were huge, hot, crispy, and so good!!! The Hunan beef was light, crunchy, and full of sweet orange flavor. It was probably our favorite out of everything we tried, but let me tell you, it was all phenomenal. We will definitely be back several times!
Wonderful legacy Cantonese style Chinese restaurant in Downtown Houston just steps away from Toyota Center. Carole, Mindy and team are masters of service and making you feel at home. Incredible egg rolls and sizzling rice soup. The Lemon Chicken is an elevated dish with flavors that are built so well you’d swear you’re in a French restaurant. It took me way too long to get here, but now that I’ve experienced this place I am not going to be able to eat Chinese food anywhere else!
Having spent 10 days in Houston having amazing food, as Asians we still end up with some cravings for Chinese food. We Googled and found China Garden restaurant which is about 10 min walk from our hotel. No regrets! It has a homely feel and while I thought most food in US is slightly on the salty side (i dont take a lot og sodium and thus most falvorful food may be a little salty for me) but the dishes here are well balanced for me, not too salty for me and I tried a dish which children and non Chinese usually like...sweet and sour pork. It is one of the best sweet and sour pork o ever had....even surpassing the ones in my home country. Being greedy, I ordered an extra portion (a cup...for indivudual portion) of wanton dumpling soup. It.was so good. Generous portion of meat in the dumpling. The huge egg roll (looks like a gigantic spring roll) was yums too! I just wished I found this earlier so I could go back for more dishes before I left Houston. Thank you for the hospitality! For locals, pls do visit. It's amazing , one of the best and authentic dishes you will get. For those like me...missing home and craving for Chinese food, this place can be a second home 😂 Ohhh we got some hush puppies for dessert too!
We love this place! The food is always amazing and you MUST order the egg rolls - they're indescribably good. We've loved all the food we've gotten here but our favorites are the Spicy Cabbage Chicken & the Kung Po Chicken. The service is friendly. Every time we come, we always have great conversations with the staff.
I walked down from a local hotel hoping to find a buffet but the experience I found was so much more. Great food with that welcoming home cooked feeling! I love this establishment and was more than worth the walk! If you are in the area I highly recommend. It is a 10 out of 10 in my book!
A Houston staple for decades! This place has the best homemade egg rolls you'll ever put in your mouth. Everything else is good too but the egg rolls are a must try.
We came in for an early dinner. The restaurant was pretty quiet. There were only a couple of other tables when we arrived but it did start to fill up. Even with people coming in, it stayed fairly quiet. Our server was fantastic and helped us choose. We had sauté chicken livers for an appy and they were spicy and delicious. Hubby had a combination foo yung and I had shredded cabbage with pork. Both were extremely tasty and enough for leftovers. We are definitely coming back
Food 5 stars! We order at least 10 plates each time. Service exceptional 5 stars! Our waitress Mindy is always accommodating. Atmosphere is perfect for our UH crowd gatherings and the owner Carol pays us visits often. WE LOVE IT HERE!
This place is historic as it first opened its doors in 1969. So this place is about 56 years old this year. With downtown Houston is always evolving it is hard to tell how long this restaurant can service in the next few years. The lunch special is big portion and delicious, I tried the Roast Pork Egg Foo Yung, it was pretty good American Chinese food here. They do have a parking lot in the back and good amount of street parking. It is great lunch option of you work in the area.
So here is the deal, I am from Detroit and I have lived in both Chicago and New Jersey. I have eaten authentic Cantonese Chinese food all my life and when I came to Houston the influence is more Szechuan, Thai and Vietnamese. To say this is my favorite spot is an understatement. The may take longer because it’s fresh and there may be some shouting but that’s part of the atmosphere. Houstonians live and love to brag about food but honestly it’s because yal ain’t really had anything outside of Houston. The wonton soup, Eggrolls, fried rice and beef with broccoli are my go to and they are phenomenal. No it’s not the neuvo glass decor pristine new place in town but if you want authenticity and good food made with truth and love this is the place. I mean I walk in the door talking smack and yup I am loud but I am so comfortable and happy it’s like visiting family.
We frequently eat here for lunch. Food is always fresh, fast, large portions and great service! Spicy Shrimp or Lemon Chicken are my favorites, and the egg rolls are so good. Carol is always making everyone feel like they are eating at her home!
We love this place. Quality ingredients. BEST old school FAT egg rolls the BEST shrimp dumplings and pork won ton soup in town, their main dishes are awesome as well and Carol is the most adorable hostess in town and the staff are so amazing. Always a memorable experience here.
This place was right beside the Tru hotel we are staying at, so we decided to try this place after reading all of the positive reviews. All of the food was delicious and the portions were good. The egg rolls and cheese wontons were the best!! Our server was also super nice and very attentive. Would definitely return here next time we are in town!
China Garden is a true hidden gem in downtown Houston. It’s one of those classic hole-in-the-wall spots that might not catch your eye at first, but once you’re inside and the food hits the table, you know you’ve found something special. I ordered the spicy chicken with fried rice, and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken had the perfect level of heat, packed with flavor, and the fried rice was just right—savory, well-seasoned, and fresh. The portion size was generous, and the service was quick and friendly. If you’re in downtown Houston and craving solid, flavorful Chinese food, China Garden is definitely worth checking out.
I’ve been coming here for about 25 years and the quality has just remained top notch. Everything on the menu is good but my go-to dish will forever remain #216 Lemon Chicken. Most places can’t seem to make this dish right but here the chicken is thinly cut, lightly battered and the sauce is just perfect. The eggrolls are large and fantastic as well. Sometimes they’ll bring you a little basket of hushpuppies too. One of my absolute favorite spots in all of Houston.
Our dinner was amazing! Hands down the BEST Chinese food we've had in a long time. We went on a Wednesday at 4:30 pm. Our order included egg rolls, vegetable fried rice, China Garden Hunan Beef, and roast pork egg foo yung. The vegetables were fresh, the meat was tender, the rice was well seasoned and the egg rolls were crispy. Our server was a friendly woman who kept us smiling and was very attentive! Do yourself a favor and stop by for a meal.
Been going here for years. Wonton soup has gotten better with julian slices of carrot, other veggies and pork. Lately had steamed veggie dumplings not in the tradition surving container and they are large. Try the chopped ginger and pepper oil on top, the best. I enjoy the cabbage/lettuce underneath, (which they only me a tiny piece). They don't have much eye appeal but are delucious. If you want to change up order on the menu that won't be easy, something gets lost between Chinese server and Chinese cheif. We have meetings with 6 or 7 people once a month and it works well. Will be back.
Stopped by before a Rockets game. About 3/4 full. No wait time. Worn atmosphere but we were there for the food. I had Mongolian beef which was solid, on the sweet side but still good. Egg Roll with sweet and sour was delicious. Guest had Hunan Shrimp which was very good (when take home was reheated, orange sauce was white and didn't taste the same). A bit pricier than I expected for a hole in the wall type of place but I guess the location dictates the price. This was better than what I've had in Houston in the past. Not the best but would return to try other dishes.
Saw article in the Houston Chronicle that they were the best Chinese food in town, I disagree with that, but it was pretty good. The egg rolls were very good, sweet and sour pork was fine, but I do not recommend the Shrimp Egg Fu Young, it was very bland. The wonton soup was very good, hot and sour soup was good. Seating was exceptionally comfortable.
I'm still on the hunt for the best Curry Chicken inside the Loop, one that rivals Wong's in League City, so after seeing the great reviews at China Garden, I decided to give it a go. This place looks as though it has not been updated since the oil crisis of the 80' and I could not quite place my finger on what the decor was trying to be. That aside, we were seated immediately and there were quite a few people there because the Rockets were playing that night so everyone was eating before the game. We started with the egg rolls and the cheese puffs. The egg roll was super yum and full of goodness. The cheese puffs were good but I found the wonton wrappers were way too large for the typical serving of cheese. That aside, they did taste good! For my entree, as I noted above, I ordered the Curry Chicken. While it was good, it just wasn't on point with what I am use to. Nonetheless, I would eat there again if I had to. Husband ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan and he said it was just ok. The sauce was too brown (normally it's white). We had the misfortune that our waiter did not give us any fortune cookies, yet other servers gave them to their tables. I guess no biggie, those cookies generally taste like cardboard anyway. LOL.
I love the food here, the atmosphere and the service but I'm going to excuse them this time as someone new took my order. I ordered pick up food after a visit to the Medical Center and live in Missouri City. Part of my order was 3 orders of egg rolls total 6. I mentioned to make sure I had the plum and mustard sauce that come with the egg rolls in addition I ordered a Large Hot and Sour Soup, Hunan Beef, Triple Delight, Egg Foo Young, Silver Noodles and Fried Rice. I called to the restaurant to question my charge and was told I was charged $3.00 for the egg roll sauce and $3.50 for packing. When I got home I thought they packed me extra sauce when in fact I received the sauce size that comes with an order of egg roll. After years of frequenting their restaurant I was disappointed at these extra charges.
My favorite Chinese Restaurant in Houston. Best Chinese food money can buy. The Chinese spare ribs are lovely. Nice and tender, perfect amount of sauce, the sweet and sour shrimp and chicken with shrimp fried rice is epic. The Egg rolls are big fresh and crispy. Ever near the Toyota Center to catch a rockets game or any event, walk right over to China Garden. The best Chinese food in town
China Garden offers a large menu with good prices. The food is freshly made and comes out nice and hot (even for Togo orders). The Mongolian beef was flavorful with the nice rich brown sauce and tenderness. I was ent blown away with the flavor but it was good. The egg roll was just ok and was packed with cabbage. The wonton soup was great and even had chunks of chicken in it. The little hush puppies are a nice touch with a crunchy shell and soft center. Worth a visit if you are downtown or at a Rockets game
Was greeted by elderly man who happened to be very hardworking Was all the time busy with his chores. Gave us a table whose chairs were not properly arranged Ordered soup but wasn’t explained the price clearly had to ask twice Soup was flavorful and wholesome. The beef chow main was very tender and tasty. Noodles were perfect Then ordered lemon chicken which was bland and not hot. It tasted not seasoned. Service was efficient but not friendly enough. Bill was brought before we were halfway into the food. The place was getting busy. Spring roll was okay
I got everything people recommend here. Lemon chicken, egg roll, and wonton soup. The cornbread and egg roll are good. My lemon chicken was fine, it was warm while it is only 5 mins back to the hotel. The wonton soup broth is good , the wonton itself is fine, there was only 2 pieces. Total is around $24 for all the food I got.
The waitress behaves a bit over-familiar. Food was okayish..I won't say it is the best Chinese I ever had.
Seating was readily available. Staff was nice and polite. Egg roll was great flavor and temperature. I was NOT impressed by the meal. The food was not hot enough at all. Fresh cooked rice would be piping hot and chicken pieces were not a good temperature. Seems that they only put warm sauces on their meat entrees. Food temperature is extremely important for me; it can help determine freshness. I believe that the lunch meals are a bit pricey too.
Haven’t been here since around 2005. Hasn’t changed a bit. At least for atmosphere. Didn’t care for the food much. The hot & sour soup was the oddest I’ve ever had. Menu very limited for dinner. Not sure if it’s because there was a concert at Toyota Center? Egg roll very good though. The fried rice was good as well. Didn’t care for the spicy shrimp. It’s just fried shrimp with a sauce ladled on top. Brought back so many happy memories or working downtown as a young person. Our group enjoyed the nostalgia of eating here. Won’t return though.
$30 for lunch buys you three small corn bread hush puppies, cup of wonton soup, large pork egg roll, scoop of soy sauce fried rice, pile of lemon chicken and one glass of Diet Coke with No refills. There are way better places to get Chinese. At least they didn’t make you Valet!
Service seemed rushed, my dinner was not that good. I ordered Lemon Chicken which had a good review. Kind of a lemon cough drop taste. Big MSG headache later.
Someone recommended this place to me saying it was the best Chinese food in Houston. It’s not. Honestly, the beef and broccoli saved this review. The price and taste for the chicken wings was not worth it. I wish I took a picture but I gave the chicken away. I paid $32 unfortunately still on the search for the best!
I really hoped that this spot would be able to redeem itself as time went on and it did…until it didn’t. I called in my takeout order and I was told that the chicken was going to take 15 minutes and it ended up taking more than 30 minutes. I was very willing to let it slide and had faith that the food was going to be great. I got home and opened the bag to see that the portion of fried rice was huge (a plus) and the egg rolls were huge too (also a plus). The fried rice was ok — could use a little more flavor. The egg roll, however, was great. It was flavorful and unique so that definitely made me happy. However, when I got to the box with the chicken in it — yes, the chicken that took 30+ minutes — it had melted through the styrofoam. I believe this is a basic food safety issue. There has to be a better way to package them so that I’m not consuming melted styrofoam with my chicken but at least they’re hot. When I opened up the partially melted box, I saw the tiniest wings I’ve ever seen in my life. There were quite a few, so I’m not super concerned about the portion but rather the quality of the chicken. I’ve never been to a Chinese restaurant (or any restaurant for that matter) that serves supposedly fried chicken wings smaller than wingstop wings. I was hesitant to even eat them. I went to bite into one, and they were extremely soggy and wet. The flavor was decent but the texture was awful. I wanted to give it a fair chance so I bit into a different wing and sure enough, it wasn’t cooked all the way through. Meat closer to the bone was very mushy and pink and the skin was not the “crispy” one expects when ordering fried chicken. I’m ultimately disappointed because I cannot eat any of the chicken now and I spent a decent amount on the food. I can imagine that they have other options that are good, but this is not the place to get those signature Chinese fried chicken wings. I do want to commend the staff though. They were all very nice, helpful, and welcoming. The service was just slow and the food undercooked. I’m generally turned off and will probably choose to spend my money elsewhere next time.
ZERO stars!! Rude waiter wanted me to order what he wanted and gets mad when I ask questions or try to reiterate what I want. I asked for a new server and he snatched the menus from me and wanted me to get up and go to another area. I demanded to speak to his manager and he said they were busy. I waited for over 10 minutes and no one ever came to assist us. Horrible service never coming back. Went a few blocks down to Kim Son and got the best treatment.
I would give it a 0 if I can there was literally a piece of plastic in my food and not just that the employee that was working at the front was really rude to her workers and the place seemed super off. Highly do not recommend this place.
Disgusting, not fresh! Old oil! We ordered take out after a long day! We are traveling from Cali. What I can say is. Don’t do it. Order Uber Eats. The food was not made with any type of love. They charged me $97.00 Luckfully we were right next door and we were able to take the food back right away! They gave a partial refund. Three of us ordered food. The food tasted of old oil the shrimp fried rice was dry and tasted like it was sitting there all day. Not fresh at all!!!!! None of it. I am now up going back and forth to the toilet. Sorry but you should know. I took two bites first bite was the rice second was the sweet and sour pork. I had a couple of bites of egg drop soup and half of an egg roll. I’m sorry for this review but the people traveling need to know don’t do it. If your local and love it great…. All Cheerleaders beware don’t ruin your weekend! I’m a business owner and take these reviews very seriously.
Very disappointed with my experience. The restaurant has a sign that says “We don't accept Apple Pay,” so I assumed Google Pay was accepted (many places in US do accept one but not the other). After I finished my meal, i handed them my phone trying to pay with Google pay, and they told me, oh you didn't read the sign on the door ? I said I did read it, and I dont have apple pay I only have google pay, they said no it's the same thing, I said no they are not the same. Then they asked for my ID and even took a photo of my passport, which was very uncomfortable and unnecessary. Then they pressured me with a "1 hour" deadline to go home get cash and return or they would call cops on me, even though it's there fault not my, however my Uber driver came he handed me his $20 and I paid them right away, then I gave him his $20 back when I returned home. This was very unprofessional from this restaurant, and guess what, you just lost a client, and I will never back again.
As you can see from my photographs they gave me food that was not fit for consumption! Whether they were aware or not they gave it to me and to be able to discern whether food is fit for consumption is a skill that any chef should have. Your license should be taken away when you practice poorly because you can’t or don’t wish to practice safe standards. My order Pork fried rice $16 BBQ Ribs $14 Egg Rolls $8 $38 + $2 tip although I ordered take out. The rice was oily and poor value in relation to quantity verses the price! The egg rolls were completely saturated with oil and filled with veg and certainly not worth $8 by any standard. The ribs came in a small burger box value was an issues in terms of quantity they were also completely burnt beyond consumption so much so it’s impossible for anyone to have not noticed them! They intentionally gave me inedible food. Every item went in the trash. Yes it did cost me $40 but that is a small price to pay to make the community aware of the standards at this establishment.
