Do you miss going to a restaurant and enjoying a real quality meal? Having friendly staff greet you and making sure everything is to your satisfaction? How about not being sure what you should try for visiting for the first time and the cashier taking the time to make an honest and great recommendation? If you are like me and expect this level of service and quality of food, YOU have to try if not book a group so you all can see what I just experienced. I had the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans with a side of toast. It was all warm and delicious! Nothing was overly salted or seasoned in any bad way. The service was friendly, attentive and personable from the time I made contact with an employee. Hats off to your business model and your team. I will be coming back and with many more.
I used to come here with friends in the late 1990's when I was in high school. Today we all met up for a reunion and I was shocked at how much this place has grown! It went from a small building with a gravel parking lot to now this large building with multiple rooms and even has a play area for kids outside. I'm glad to see a small business doing well, growing and thriving 25 years later. Food was great! I had the swiss mushroom burger, a little messy but delicious! I haven't had crawfish in years, so I got a pound to go. They smell great, I'll update to let you know how they taste. Crawfish update: The seasoning is perfect!! Even our 6 year old at some! If you're on the fence about getting them - do it!!
A visually appealing location. So far from start to finish, as it was my first time , I found my self exploring while waiting for my food . This in it self helps time fly by and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. A very family friendly environment and the other customers here look very pleased.
Had a birthday party here over the weekend for my husband. I booked one of their private rooms. Jessie was our server/bartender. Everything was great from the food to the service. They even have a little area for kids to play. Will definitely be back.
Atmosphere of the resturant feels cozy and western, great place for family and friends! Food is delicious and service is great.
Friendly staff, amazing facility for families and big groups, and fantastic food! I tried both the cheeseburger and the chicken strips, both were quite good and made with high quality ingredients. Next time I’m choosing the fries over the onion rings, though. The $2.50-ish up charge for the rings wasn’t worth it to me, but they were still good.
This place is FANTASTIC for kids birthdays. Super cute western/cowboy theme. Great big grass area for the kiddos. A shaded sand pit! Lots of quarter rides. Clean! The staff is super helpful and accommodating. Linda was incredible in helping me plan my little ones birthday. Food is great for adults and littles. Tons of options and delicious. Party packages are very versatile and all you have to do is show up! NO WRANGLING VENDORS! We had a bounce house, a toddler soft play area and a petting zoo. They have a list of vendors they use, you pick what you want and Linda sets it up for you. It made the planning and day go so much smoother. It is a great place with great staff! We had an amazing party here.
I loved it made me feel like I was back home in the country, sitting under a tree sipping lemonade.. I've been in this area since 2016, always said 1 day I'll go. My husband grew up here and said ima take you to this spot I'm like where 🫣. We got there I said I ALWAYS WANTED TO COME HERE❤️❤️. It was better THAN I EXPECTED..KID FRIENDLY.. HOPE ITS THE SAME THIS SUMMER, we have family from Arizona and Arkansas coming in. We shall bring them here..give them a big taste of TEXAS.. CAUSE THATS WHAT WE GOT!!!!❤️❤️❤️ *****2nd time **** 6-22-2024 brought family from Arizona and Arkansas.... they loved it, the kids enjoyed playing in the sandbox, and throwing balls💕💕🎊🎊🎊🎊
We had a great experience at Clay's. The staff was friendly. The food was hot fresh and very tasty. I had the clay burger with cheese. It was a big burger that came with a lot of fries. The kids meal was way more food than what my kid could eat. We sat outside because my kid wanted to run around. There is a sandbox and covered outdoor seating. There are coin operated riding toys similar to what you would see outside of a supermarket back in the day. Will visit again next time I am in the area to try out more of the menu.
Jo is absolutely amazing. Great personality right off the bat. We go here often, especially during crawfish season, and she's amazing. Works her butt off, always supporting her team and her guests. We love Clays overall, the crawfish, the specials, the team, the environment, the intent of setting up for kid accommodations. Its an absolutely fantastic family friendly place. Its our kids absolutely favorite place.
I've lived near this place for over 20 years and just decided to stop for their father's day crawfish sale. I've been missing out. Crawfish was good. Could have been a little more spicy for my taste (Louisiana), but it fits the bill. Lots of seating available and a good atmosphere. Will not be my last time as there are a lot of other items on the menu I want to try.
This place has gotten a lot better since the first time I came here 5 years ago. The food and service is excellent. I feel more than a customer because the staff seem to care about you. They have a decent mix of items on their menu that are not too expensive. My wife and I ordered the bacon cheese burger with fries. It was hot and delicious, and the fries were crispy. As for the ambience, it has a down home country feel. It is also a sprawling complex, with multiple areas tucked away and many outdoor seating as well. Definitely a place for large groups. It is also a good place to bring kids. So, try Clay's and decide for yourself.
This place is really cool, dont shame me..I have driven by for many years and finally got to go. Food is awesome! The atmosphere is really cool, they have different dining areas. We sat out back and the kids had a blast, there are little rides, a sand pit and a big turf area to run around in. TONS of parking, easy access friendly people. What else can I ask for?
Very nice outdoor atmosphere!! Large outdoor area!! Indoor as well, but i really enjoyed the out seating with tv and play area! Easy order at bar 1st, go to table, food is brought out! Good variety and food is delicious! We took advantage of an early off day and got the crawfish special! Came out piping hot!!! Corn and potatoes are extra! The blt was very good and filling! We will be back again! Try for yourself, delicious! Friendly wait staff, plenty parking and super easy to find! 👍💯
1st time going.....amazing!!! Great tasting food and service. Clean & Family/,kid friendly. Nice place to come have a drink and let the kiddos go. Had their famous chicken fried steak w/garlic mash and steamed broccoli.. Amazing!! Went on a Sunday evening it was laid back and chill ....may be busier during peek times...will visit again!
Wow, let me just say I am so glad and grateful my girlfriend and I finally decided to stop by this restaurant and finally eat!!! I really loved the staff we met and the food was Awesome!!!!! The restaurant was amazing and decorated so Cute!!!! They also do events; definitely looking into that! We will definitely be back soon!!!!
The place offers indoor and outdoor dining. We dined outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The kids had fun with plenty of activities (kiddie rides, sand box, field). Food was great and our server was friendly. We'll definitely be coming back. Tip: No host, choose your seats and order in the front. You can only order appetizers/drinks from the waiter.
I've lived here all my life and have never given Clay's a try!! And wow, what a lovely staple in the community this family restaurant is! It had wide space for the kids to run around in, the staff was all courteous and welcoming, restrooms were CLEAN and the food was tasty!! Linda who greeted us and brought us our food was soooo fun and enjoyable. And made sure our night went well. They honor military here as well! The ONLY 2 things I could suggest to make Clay's perfect is 1.) Closing the area in the kids field that leads out to the parking lot. I did not know it was open there. Any child could wander out into the lot or (God forbid) get kidnapped. And also, you have a sand pit but no wash area for the kids feet! Just add a fence to the kids area and a wash station and I'd say Clay's has it in the bag! Will definitely be back!
Im not a fan of walk up and order restaurants but I make an exception for clays. Been here for so long it's part of the neighborhood. The good is great, the setting is great and on crawfish season they throw down.
First time here and will definitely be returning! Was here for a party, one of the few places that still seats a large party. Service was quick, food was great, and play area perfect for family with children.
Amazing place, good food and great service! The atmosphere is cool too, I like the small town southern vibe it has and the kids love the sand box and patio area!
Great tasting food. Batter on the fried fish was light and crispy. Chicken fried steak was delicious. In town visiting family and my sister recommended this place and it didn't disappoint.
I went to Clay’s Restaurant to see what this place is about. I love the vibes here. The staff was friendly and accommodating to make sure my food was served right. I had the chicken fried chicken and peach blueberry cobbler. It was delicious! I participated in their Eat Drink HTX event where the proceeds help the Houston Food Bank so I love that they help local community organizations. Thanks for a great food experience!
This place has been under construction since 1986. Bothered is always something new to see and do here. The food is still the most impressive thing about CLAYS.the decor is warm and friendly. Best Burger and seafood anywhere, hands down.
Great family place! Food and service are amazing! Seafood boil platter was superb. Great place for the kids to have a good time while you enjoy a margarita or two. Highly recommend.
I went here with my grandmother today. I got the chicken tenders platter with fries and mac n' cheese. The tenders were very good and I really liked the fries and how they season and cook those. I did however expect the mac n' cheese to be better since it's a side that you have to upgrade for. It seems like the recipe could improve for that. Otherwise, my grandmother's catfish looked really good also and I enjoyed the vibe. I like that it kinda feels like a small little city or something and there are a bunch of variations of rooms where you could sit and get a little bit of a different view and vibe any time you go, indoors and outside. I probably would like to go here again sometime.
Went to this location the other day with some family, and i must say, the server and hostess Jessie is amazing! she made us feel so welcome and even gave us some yummy recommendations from the menu, her personality is just the sweetest. One of the best customer service interactions me and my family has had in a really long time. This sweet lady deserves a raise! Will definitely be coming again! :)
Crawfish is sooo good! I went here for the first time today and ordered 5lbs of boiled Crawfish and they did not disappoint. I was very pleased and pleasantly surprised. As someone who has been eating crawfish since I was a little girl whose roots are based in Louisiana, these crawfish were fresh, juicy, nice size, non mushy and taste like Louisiana style, seasoned on the inside! I have found my new spot!!
I LOVE CLAYS! I have been eating and partying here since I was a little girl. I had my graduation party and many birthdays at this restaurant and it never fails to be the best atmosphere. The food is always cooked with love by the wonderful chefs in the back. Moral of the story I would eat here everyday if I was rich!!
Our men’s group meets for lunch monthly at Clays. My choice for lunch was the grilled chicken salad - fresh, delicious, and decently priced. For years our group met at a nearby restaurant, but changed recently due to the advantages of Clays - fresh menu selections, bottled beer options, larger conversation tables, spontaneous service, less intrusive noise. There are significant seating areas for families, business, and parties combined with an extensive exterior lawn and safe play area for kids of all ages. This was always our go to place when our kids were younger, still is. Highly recommended!
Received a coupon to go try Clays Restaurant, we arrived and all staff was extremely nice, restaurant was very clean inside and outside and food was amazing! i got Chicken tender platter, tenders were super fresh, hot and crispy. My boyfriend got the catfish platter and he says it was the better catfish he’s had! Definitely going back to try more things.
If you have kids, it can't get any better. Fun outdoor seating with a huge play area, old-timey coin operated rides, a giant sandbox and lots of safe areas to run and play - all with an old west decor. The food is excellent, burgers, seafood, chicken dishes and kid-friendly meals. Everything is ground floor, parking is free and plentiful.
10:10 recommend. Foods great and nice portions. Lid didn’t eat her kids meal but she loved the soup of the day enchilada tortilla soup or something. I got the hickory but Shannon 100/100 they forgot some stuff but I mean I’ll be back for sure and they got it right out Coleslaw is coleslaw it’s the creamy kind. 8/10 missing celery hut that my literal personal preference Country gravy with chicken fried chicken was good per my girl. 6/10. Cooked to perfection for sure but pretty bland. So just add some seasoning and hot sauce. Kiddo said grilled cheese was great I finished it can confirm. 20/10 The green beans are like boiled sugar snaps 100/10 Red beans &’ Rice 8/10 very good just not traditional Cajun red beans but delicious comfort food cooked kidneys and rice was good Soup was 10/10 Classic Texas toast and kraft cheese so. Tots were tots. Pretty good their bbq sauce is delicious and Smokey. Hailey the manager was amazing. Katy was great. I’ll be back for sure.
I've visited here 2xs & had a great experience. The food is delicious, flavorful, & tasty. The girls are very sweet, the environment is relaxed, it's a hige spacious restaurant, & it's so family oriented. It's also just as amazing 4 anyone alone, in date, or with groups. The restaurant is clean, the bathrooms are ckean, the craefish is 🔥 🔥🔥. The margaritas are delicious as well, great happy hour, but I do wish rhe glasses 4 em were bigger. THIS IS TEXAS👈🏽. THMhe process is super easy, the appetizer sampler is soooo good, the brownies are go die for, & so are chocolate chip cookies. So much room for kids, families, & couples go have fun gofetget, they have fans all over the place, which is 🔥 bc baby its hot in houston. 🌞 I can't handle the weather here in the south. 🤦🏽♀️ overall amazing. One server, a young lady, dark hair, gave me the most amazing convo, didn't know I needed it, & she blessed my heart. I pray 4 her, her journey, her path, & her kindness. She has q bright future. Ty 4 seeing me, acknowledge my character, morals, integrity, my compassion, & my beauty. 💜 she's a QUEEN. great job Clays!
This is the perfect place to bring your family. There’s a play area, so the children can enjoy playing kickball. While the parents sit and have a drink. I ordered catfish and shrimp. The shrimp is so delicious! The catfish was good as well! After all these years of being open, I’m so happy Clay’s has not changed.
Went here for Father's Day! Plenty of parking and not a lot of people there. Ordering was fast and about 4 people came out to deliver our food at once. Not a single item was missing and they were very attentive. The food was delicious! We all tried each others plates. Very flavorful and fresh and you could tell it was home made. 🏡 We are definitely coming back!!! There is also lots of space for the kids to play. We had a great time!!!! Thank you!!!
After driving by this place on our way to work for 5 weeks we finally stopped and gave it a try. This place is amazing for many reasons. The staff was attentive, very kind, and helpful. The food was outstanding. We had the fried pickles & I had a Shannon burger thanks to other reviews and the size was perfect. My husband had the clay burger. We were there at night and it was beautiful in there with all the lights. We are at a picnic table outside and enjoyed the fresh air. Loved all the little building fronts. Definitely a great place to stop and we are glad we finally got the chance.

Great restaurant! Very kid friendly with sandbox and play area. Food was also very good! Great service from Hamnah as well!
I absoutley love Clay's, and I frequent this place often. \n\nThis place is very casual and kid friendly. This is the kind of place you go just to enjoy a nice evening out with the family, get some…
The crawfish was the best and the beer would definitely recommend. Also JO provided great customer service.
Jo provided great customer service, the beer everything was delicious would definitely come again.
Came for the crawfish, really good and great price. Always fun atmosphere. Our server Jo was friendly.
Very good food and huge portions for what you pay for. I got the Clay's double not realizing how big the burgers are. The service is relatively hands off as you pay at the front and they bring the …
The burger was delicious! Very polite service too. What I love too is all their unique decor around the property. One of a kind and I will say try them out if you haven't.
The service was great everyone was so friendly. It was our first time here the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere is is great it is a family restaurant and bar. It was much bigger than I thought there are places for kids to play and for adults and friends to drink and relax. You can sit indoors or outdoors. The only reason for four stars is the red beans and rice was soupy. The food is good but can use a little more seasoning but all n all it was a great experience.
The best part about Clays is the atmosphere. To me it’s the best outdoor deck restaurant on the west side of town. If you have kids there’s space for them to run around on a turf open space or play in a sandpit playground so you can relax and enjoy your food! There’s even some random farm animals for them to look at. The food is pretty good, I mostly get their mushroom Swiss burger because it’s my favorite but they have a wide variety of good items. The crawfish seems like a popular choice too. If you’re looking for a place to sit outside and enjoy a good weather day with a cold one and some classic American food this is your spot.
It really depends on what you order! The crawfish during season is delicious and not overly priced. The burgers and steaks are underwhelming and dry sadly so I wouldn't order that if I were you. The Chicken Fried Chicken and Fish and Chips are definitely my default order because they stay consistent in quality. BUT unfortunately they are a little pricey. The fried pickles are definitely not freshly made since the batter is practically falling apart but the onion rings are amazing! Sitting outside is always a wonderful experience because of all the trees. The inside feels a little dingy and unkept. You can tell it's an old establishment that definitely needs a lot of TLC! But still worth visiting during crawfish season!
Really nice icehouse vibe with an abundance of seating and food was real good, fish tacos were cooked perfect and great flavor
Great place to take the kids! Large outdoor area for dining along with plenty of indoor seating. Big screen TVs surround the outdoor patio. Lots of TVs indoor too. Huge sandpit, small merry go rounds, vintage electrics cars and artificial grassy area for running around. The theme is rustic country and quite impressive in size. The food is pretty good. We all had burgers. Very fresh. I’m more impressed with the establishment and amenities than the food itself. It’s a little league/kid’s birthday venue with space for adults to enjoy. Bonus points for the music. Upon walking in, I immediately recognized my favorite Texas Country singer, Wade Bowen, playing through the speaker! WB doesn’t get radio time, so I knew it was hand picked. I listened careful through my stay and sure enough it was ALL Texas Country music. Well done, Clay’s!
Good food, service, and more. First time visiting this location. A sunroom, an outdoor play area, and outdoor seating. This place has it all. I had the fish and chips that were actually very good compared to anything I tasted back home a big ➕️. I'll definitely be coming back when I visit Houston.
This place was built the same year I was born.. All I can say is shannon burger and their onion rings. The full bar has it all as well. Great for private event or party venue. Crawfish good price. 4.50 dine in. 6.99 togo.. Smelled amazing. But i got my Shannon burger is gone. They used to have beautiful peacocks years ago. Hope they were just hiding when I visited today. Like this post if you found it useful. Please..
Good food with the capability of being great food. That being said, we will go back. The staff was fast, courteous and helpful. The fried pickles and batter on them was amazing!! The bacon cheeseburger had really good taste, but was slightly overcooked and therefore dry. The chicken fried steak had good flavor but needs refinement as it was essentially meat floating in a pocket of batter. Once you cut into it the meat and breading separated for the rest of the meal and it was up to you to stack breading with the meat for a bite. The fries were really good. Can’t imagine going to eat here on a cold night the night we were there it was cool, rainy and kinda bad drafty inside even with all the doors closed. Looks like a great Place for the kids/grandkids to play outside in nice weather tho!!
Great atmosphere, this was the first time my wife and I had been to Clays. We got there right when they opened for lunch. People were great and friendly! Food looked great and tasted really good. Wish the sides could have been more. The main entree was a good size but felt the sides could've been more. We had the Fried mushrooms and Jalapeno poppers, Chicken Fried Steak, and Pulled Pork SandwichOverall, would definitely go back and would take the kiddos next time.
We couldn’t have picked a more perfect time to visit—as it was almost a ghost town around 6:30 on a Tuesday night. Great place for groups to meet. Even better place for the kiddos to go and wear off some energy outside. Now to the food. I got fried fish and shrimp with hush puppies and for sides —fried okra and fries. The okra still tasted alive and juicy. Fries and shrimp were basic. The fish was light on taste but delicately battered like they do up north. My partner got the large chicken fried steak with sides of macaroni and mashed potatoes with white gravy Mac was real good. Steak wasn’t cooked to death. Mashed and gravy were basic. We got our food fast and fresh. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was run tight, real organized and very clean. Drink selection looked good. You order food at the counter before even being seated. It was like a young folks version of cafeteria comfort food.
I unfortunately do not know her name but the younger lady with the black hair is amazing. I’m not an easy person to please when it comes to food and service I’m extremely picky and particular. I’ve had some rough experiences in the past but lately with this lady in particular I’ve had zero issues. I don’t even have to say a word if she sees me she knows what I’m here for and how I want it. Makes the end of my day a breeze! I’m very thankful. The only reason that I cannot give 5 stars is the lack of consistency with the onion rings. Sometimes they’re perfect other times they’re overcooked or in tonight’s case has zero seasoning! Some salt and pepper would be much appreciated. The fry’s are bland aswell but I can live with that, afterall I don’t have to pay $4 extra for them like I do my onion rings. The fish is always amazing, good job there cook 🤙🏻
Visited for the very first time and it was a great experience. Good food, nice vibes and kid friendly - the sand box is gigantic! The only downside: for any additional food/drink, you have you to and ask/pay directly at the counter.
Ordered crawfish to go. One seasoning option, option to add on spices and butter. I found their normal boil was perfect for me. The 4 stars is simply because the crawfish were tiny. But closer to normal season I’ll definitely give them a try again!
I would rate it 5 across the board but on busy/slammed nights they deliver food slow. Noy necessarily their fault and they deliver appetizers quick but the atmosphere makes the wait honestly fine and they definitely deliver in order of when it was ordered. So if the person in front of you got theirs, youre next. On slower nights, even big orders come quick. My kids absolutely love this place. Not all the rides work, but whatever, they have a giant sand pit for them lol
This was a great place. I'd give it a 4.8. Not 5 only because the kiddie rides didn't work. Food was great! Best Hamburger, fried chicken salad, potato skins, and kid's Macaroni. Different staff kept checking to make sure everything was ok. Inside and out side dining. Great play area for kid's. We will definitely recommend and go back. Very clean. Tables set up far enough apart that you have privacy.
Let me start by saying that I want to like Clay’s! I really do! I love the vibe and the smell the moment you walk through the doors. My kids absolutely love playing outside and it’s a great place to have an event. So what’s my issue?? The food. 🥲 It’s always hit or miss. It’s just ok. Recently I had the queso burger, which was ok, but I didn’t feel good after eating it. Then today I got the baked potato with chicken, which I did enjoy, but then I ordered the peach & blueberry cobbler…What a way to end on a bad note. I wouldn’t even consider it edible. Thankfully, it was topped with ice cream or I would have sent it back! That led me to write this review because I see SO much potential. It’s crazy how busy it was Saturday and then completely dead today. I can’t help but think it may be because of the food. We will most likely come back because I do really love the outside area! I just won’t be ordering the cobbler!! 😬 Side note: My dad’s chicken fried chicken was good and the green beans were better this time. My boys loved their fried catfish. I thought it was ok. Kinda on the thin side. Clay’s prices are also great and the service is always pretty good!
Nice place to take your young ones. Lots of activities and other kids to play with. The food is mostly fried but they do give you the option for baked or boiled. Lots of seafood options but not impressed especially with the very high prices. If you’re willing to spend a lot of money to take your kids for some really enjoyable activities high priced mediocre food then this is your place. One thing to note, watch your kids because there are unsafe areas where your kids might get hurt. I did express to our server one particular area where the boards on the wooden ramp were missing causing a huge hazard for children. They fixed it the next day.
Been here a couple times in the past for events, but never took the time to visit with the family. Great atmosphere for kids. The food prepared for those events were pretty good. I took the family out for $6/lbs crawfish during spring break. Nice size crawfish, especially with the shortage this year. Great outdoor seating for a nice day out. We enjoyed the hospitality during our visit.
The food was decent. I would pass on the red beans and rice. But the fish, shrimp and catfish were fried well. Not much seasoning but good. Fries are seasoned but nothing else was really seasoned. They are short staffed so don't expect too much attention from the wait staff, u just gotta go up if u need something. It's a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend this place.
UPDATE: I was contacted by Clays regarding this review and I told them I would update it because their food IS good and worth going here. I also explained that I also believed that people will want…
Sorry Clay's your Famous Country Fried Steak is a total disappointment. It's so tough you can't chew it. We ordered the lemon pepper catfish as well, there was no flavor. The menu said it came with…
Food is average at best. over priced for average food. I can remember why I haven't been thre in a long time.
When we ordered, my mother in law ordered a coffee. Once we were getting our drinks my mother in law saw there was little to no coffee so we asked someone if they could put some on, they said "someone is making coffee right now", we had our son with us so we needed a high chair and couldnt see one in sight so we asked another passing waiter if they could point us in the direction of a high chair and they said "I'll find one for you". 15 minutes pass and no coffee or high chair so my fiance went on a search for the high chair and found them near the restroom area. Still no coffee....another 12 minutes or so passed and still no coffee so we asked someone again and again with the "someone is making coffee RIGHT NOW" no freaking coffee anywhere. About half way through our meal someone comes to our table and says the coffee is ready. Ridiculous! Never coming here again, the service is just bad. The food was also very bland in our opinion.
This place is huge!! Great staff and good food! My husband ordered the Roger Burger which he says was tasty. I myself ordered the Chicken Fried Steak (Reg) with a baked potato and fried okra. Everything was seasoned very well , will definitely be returning. ( you pay for drinks and your meal first) ..
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am a biggg foodie, and one thing I love is good crawfish! I came by to Clay's for the first time ever (even though I've lived here my whole life) and was excited for the $4.99/lb of crawfish! When we got here, the young lady at the register was very nice, and quick to answer any questions I had! Loved the fact that she knew her stuff! Albeit, .99 cents for 2oz of Regular melted butter (not garlic), and .99 for the seasoning to be dusted on the crawfish was not my favorite thing, but I digress. My partner ordered the chicken fried chicken w/Mashed taters and FF, and i ordered 3 lbs of crawfish, a side of butter and a piece of corn, and 2 drinks. Spent $40. We went to the patio area, since the temp felt nice, and the vibe was nice as families hung out together, the kids played, and what seemed like a great time! We sat down, and our "server"(?) came to the table and grabbed our ticket order... granted she did kinda yell at my partner for going to grab paper towels from another empty table since we didn't have any and the table was still wet from being wiped down. I don't think she meant any harm, Just kinda shocked the way she said "Hey you don't have to do that, I can bring you paper towels if you just ask me!", I was like "dang, that was a bit unnecessary, and embarrassing..", but again, I digress. She did have a bit of an attitude, but maybe it had just been a rough day, who knows? She came back with our food, which by the way, great time! Took em maybe 5-10 minutes to come out! His chicken fried steak was pretty good!! Crispy, good flavor, and the white gravy was great. The taters were nice, and the fries were crispy too! (Pro tip, you do have to get your own refills here! Did not know this till later!) The crawfish however could use some love. Although the price was great and they looked 🤌🏼 so nice and presentable, it was a shame that it felt like the crawfish were still dirty. Felt like they grabbed the sack, dumped it into the boil, and called it a day. They had grass still, they were super dry, and the outside of them looked like they had dirt on them. Overall, the tails had decent spicy flavor, but they were reallllly dry. Don't expect garlic butter sauce, with cajun seasoning in a bag (this is what im used to). These are on a big dish, with potatoes and corn (a la carte) I did eat all the tails, but man, it felt like a waste with some of the heads and claws. 🥲 Overall, I'd give it a shot if it's your first time, and you wanna have a good time in a patio style restaurant with the family, and let the kids run around and play within sight. Don't expect the best service (or any after you get your food, lol), but expect some decent food and a great atmosphere. The crawfish aren't bad if you aren't worried about eating a couple blades of grass and some dirt here and there and like a dry rub, otherwise stick the just the tails and ask for for some butter! Also, if you're wondering why I haven't mentioned the server again, it's because we never saw her again 🤷🏻♂️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The food was pretty bland and nothing in the menu really seems to catch my attention but I still ordered their food anyways. I got a breaded steak, it was bland no seasoning nothing. The corn was weird and the gravy as well. I will not be coming back again
3.5 stars in my review. The vibe is legit! Like ice house meets your neighbors home made patio extension to their home type of vibe. Customer service is very friendly and attentive. The food was made to order at the counter service but was very luke warm so was a bit of a turn off. But their margarita on the rocks was legit. Would come back and try something else but for sure the margarita.
Nice place to eat. There was a long line. You order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Drinks are self serve. It took 30 minutes to get crawfish and 2 burgers with fries. Crawfish was just OK, had a dry rib on the outside but no flavor inside. Burgers were good but $16 for burgers and fries ( drink not included) is a little pricy. They do have a large outdoor area for the kids to play and indoor/ outdoor seating as well. Parking is tight.

Ordered only crawfish and was pretty disappointed. They were extremely small compared to the other places I've gone. They taste was pretty good but wasn't given any option on how spicy we wanted them so they come in one spiciness. Also the potatoes and corn had no kind if spice to them really bland. Taste like they were bowled in only water no seasoned water.
The misses was craving a chicken fried steak and I saw the good reviews. We both had the "famous" chicken fried steak, mine large and hers regular and an order of fried pickles. They only had the white country gravy. They were out of the mashed potatoes and corn, both of which were craved by my wife. So she choose green beans and Mac n' cheese(they were out of that too). So she chose the broccoli, the same as I. The broccoli was cooked well and tasted great. The green beans were horrible. The chicken fried steaks were kinda bland with the gravy barely saving it. The large was just a more flattened regular. And the fried pickles were mostly batter. Glad I didn't try the dessert.
Food was very bland to me especially for the price. They have a huge area for the kids to play but nothing to play with. They have a sandbox but no sand toys. This was our first time going here and won't be back. We paid 120 for 2 kids 2 adults and 1 teen. Had high hopes of this place because of the reviews.
Well Marline liked her crawfish.. I ordered a Roger burger, comes with jalapeños, it had 2 , the only thing I could taste was the mustard.. and I added tater tots , they gave me about 10… But my main complaint is the damn asking for a tip standing at the register as you pay!!! 18% for taking my order and someone brings our food and we get our own drinks? Register tipping should we banned
Clays has been around forever!! We eat here ,have get togethers over the years. But today I stopped in to pick up something and take it home. I was charged a 5% overall total to go fee. When I asked about this she snapped "all restaurants do this, it's only 5% thats nothing"...just to inform no they don't. In todays world %5 is 5% . I don't appreciate the attitude when a customer ask about an unknown or unposted charge. I'm pretty disappointed in this. Just so everyone is aware ... you will be charged for to go orders. I was told to sit on the bench and someone would bring me the food 20 minutes, nada. To get up and ask about it, it had been sitting there for 10 minutes. So you'll get charged extra and be given cold food for pick up orders beware.
I went to clays today and it’s usually a good place to go eat crawfish because they have it for cheaper prices. I go a couple of times out the week and this time I brought a long my service dog (pitbull). I called ahead to make sure they were aware and they said service dogs were fine. I sat in a back corner by myself not around other tables and I had one of the managers come out and say pets were not allowed. I let him know I called ahead and they said my service dog was fine. He just walked off with no apology. Managers continued to come to the table and all she was doing was laying there not barking or anything. This experienced worsened my conditions and I felt very uncomfortable. I will never go to this EVER again. The least someone could have done was apologize for the misunderstand.
Today I came out for dinner with family for my daughter's birthday. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and for one the roll was cold and hard. The chicken was somewhat warm, the corn and potatoes were almost cold. The onion rings were greasy and had no taste. I am very disappointed but didn't want to mess it up for my daughter on her day.
the service was good very friendly staff. the ambiance was great as well very cute establishment. i went to get crawfish and that would be the reason i give one star. the crawfish was funky probably …
Crawfish were awful! Wasted money, seemed like they were gone bad it and old. I've been coming here for a couple of yrs and this season has been terrible. Last night was the last straw
I usually I only go here for the crawfish which are always good, but I decided to try the brisket sandwich. 0/10 it tasted like they boiled the meat in plain water and had a faint taste of dish soa…
If you're in area - don't eat here. Too many issues- first service is not good and the margaritas (if that's what this was) is one of the worst I've had in recent memories. chicken fried chicken…
If I could give a negative rating I would. Nothing good can come from a place whose chicken fried steak come out in 5 minutes. The chicken fried steak reminded me of grandys. The mashed p…
The food was poor and the beer was expensive $6.00 and it wasn’t even cold. They expect a tip to bring the food to your table but never come back. This place does not compare to other comfort food …

Food is dry and over priced. The chicken bites are not juicy at all, the broccoli is bland, and the crawfish it not cleaned/purged correctly. It tastes bad.
Ordered the steak special for $21.99. Big mistake!!! Mis-read the sign. Thought it said baked potato and two sides but it was(or) instead of and. The mashed potatos were cold and only one small scoop. The green beans were luke warm and a stale roll. A quarter of the steak was all grissle. Very disappointing. On top of that they added a automatic 18% gratuity and all they did was drop the food at the table. Everything is self serve. We won't be back ever again!
ROACHES!!! I would never dine here again. My husband and I came here to dine for our weekly date night. We always see this place on our way home. We were not greeted well by the lady taking our order. She was short and not friendly. Then we decided to sit outside since it was a lovely cool night. We got our food in a timely fashion. I ordered the fish tacos with fried mushrooms and he had the brisket burger with fries. My tacos were actually decent but as I was eating the roaches began to attack our table. First it was one roach on my wine glass 🤮 then there was another roach crawling on the table. Then as we began to look around they were crawling on the deck. I couldn’t even finish my food I was so creeped out. I hate bugs and I’m definitely not about to dine with roaches. I have never seen a restaurant have bugs like that. They need to call the exterminator NOW!! If they are outside I can almost assure you they are in the kitchen. Now I feel sick 🤢 my husband didn’t finish his food either. We went back up front to and speak to someone but could not find anyone at the front to help us. I guess they were about to close. I just need to eat at home SMH
We were excited about returning to Clays now that our kids are in College. Ordered 10 lbs. crawfish, bucket of beer, cheeseburger, side fried pickles & mushrooms. 1 corn & 1 potato $158.00 you pay up front now. We pushed the no tip button (because we would leave cash at the table) but on the receipt 20% was added to our order. Ok, well I didn’t say anything because that would be our waitress tip. We found out we didn’t really have a waitress. They said people would come by and check on us. No one came so we sent our son to get another bucket of beer. His hamburger came and got cold because he was still standing in line to get our beer. A person came and asked if we needed anything, I said yes, who’s our waitress, she said we will just come by and see if you need anything. I said my son is in line for a bucket of beer and his hamburger is still sitting here getting cold. Then my husband asked for sprinkle salt and she said that will be $1.00 he said ok. When she came back with his salt she said, that will be $1.00. With crawfish hands he had to dig in his pocket for $1.00. Then I thought, That’s enough! Who makes you pay $1.00 for salt when after $180.00 of food and you have to stand back in line for beer? We will not be going back!
Went in for lunch today (Saturday) & ordered a baked potato, add brisket. Never again. The potato was fine, the brisket was so HARD you could barely bite into it. Whether it was old, over-microwaved, whatever, it was HORRIBLE & certainly not worth the extra charge. Our "server" stopped by several times, checking on us. It was my choice to not say something about the quality of the brisket. I simply pushed it aside & ate the potato. Whoever is expediting there should be watching their quality standards as the meat added to my potato shouldn't have ever left the kitchen. 1st time...Not sure I'd give it a 2nd try.
