Was Kunden über Cypress Circle Café sagen
Cypress Circle Café receives overwhelmingly negative reviews, mainly due to high prices for small portions and poor food quality. While some appreciate the fast service and friendly staff, many describe the food as overpriced, bland, and sometimes inedible. The ordering process is also a point of confusion.

There was a problem with my order. The manager was so nice and very professional. She stood aside until everything was fixed. I was impressed.

15 dollars cheese burger with fries
Delicious food, the service is a bit disorganized & it’s expensive, but as for a restaurant in the middle of a Zoo this is premium.
nice good
Polite staff and very fast service.
Nice place kept clean
The cheeseburger, fries and cheese pizza were good! So was the fountain sodas. The service was fast. The employees work so hard to get your order to you quickly. It is a bit expensive, like going to the movies. Plenty of tables and chairs inside and outside.
The food was great! Service was fast, my family and I loved the food and even tried each other’s. The chicken tenders, burgers, and pizza were all wonderful! The price is to be expected in a zoo. My two picky little ones said they would give them a thousand stars if they could!
Pricey but we got our food in 5 minutes and the portions were big! Filled us up
Food tastes amazing and they are all so friendly! I feel the price may defer people away a bit as it can add up quickly but it’s very tasty!
My family and I went to the zoo to enjoy our day, we went to eat at the Cypress Circle Cafe, we were pleasently surprised , the servers were patient with us as my crew placed their orders. The food was amazing! Highly recommend. Reasonably priced considering the location. Thank you for the experience
Surprisingly good! We had the pizza, double hamburger, corn dog, Cesar Salad and chicken tenders. The pizza is made in a pizza oven which makes a big difference.
one of main things we love about our zoo membership is being able to eat here when we visit. The hamburgers, the pizza, and the kids quesadilla are very good and a great value.
Just got back from our school field trip. The people working were so helpful. All the food tasted so good from burgers to pizza to falafels. The place was clean and plenty of space for everyone to sit at a table. The only negative was the prices but I guess that’s everywhere you go to an event. Thank you and great job!!! Dianna. It was Saturday and of course, expect lots of people. Cypress Circle Cafe is under SSA group which is a company based in CO (!). I'm from CO!! I love the Turkey and Swiss Cheese Sandwich : with cranberry sauce mixed with mayo as the spread which compliments the turkey. I loved the fries because it's not salty, my 2 grandkids, loved them, too. If you need more salt, just grab some at the condiments sections. It's commercial place (Zoo!) expect that the price will be higher. If you don't like the price, then don't buy or don't order.

It's not as bad as people say. Compared to reviews from even 6 months ago, things seemed to change a lot. They have 3 self check out kiosks now and buzzers to tell you when your food's ready. Only big thing is that everything was on the pricier side. (A ~8-10" cheese pizza was $14. I personally found it tasty.) They also had stuff like pretzels in a small cup (not the fluffy ones, dollar store pretzels) for $7. Drinks, whether being soda or water, were also $6. Take advantage of the free water refill stations that are everywhere and save your cup/bottle. Also bring your own snacks and don't pay for anything that isn't a meal. (They allow outside food/drinks. We even brought a small grocery store cake instead of buying Dippin' Dots for $7.) For picky eaters, there also isn't an option to remove things like tomatoes on the kiosk, so it would be better to ask a cashier.

French fries are excellent
Food was ok, after all it is overpriced zoo restaurant food. Food came out quick and hot. Just a really good place to get out of the Texas heat.
Food is better than expected for a zoo. Portions are good too. Prices have gone up since my last visit in 2019 when I used to visit at least once or twice a month with the kids. Family of 4 all with souvenir cups burgers and chicken sandwiches came to about $70. We paid more for the cups so we could get the discounted refills when we return.
I almost didn't try this restaurant because of the bad reviews, but decided I wanted to try it out for myself. I was glad I did! Was it overpriced for what it is? Sure. Did I expect that because it's in a large city zoo? Yes. The food wasn't bad, in fact it was pretty tasty. I had the pepperoni pizza and a rice crispy treat. It would have been amazing and I would leave 5 stars had it been served hot, but truth be told, the pizza was barely warm.. I didn't mind too much, though. I left completely satisfied and would be happy to go back!
I feel like it used to be better deals but it’s definitely on the pricey side now. I do have to say the kids meal did come with a fair amount of food which was a pleasant surprise. However I do with I had kept my $18 instead of buying that small and unseasoned burger. The zoo was a bit of an impromptu trip for us today or we would have brought picnic stuff like we normally do. Wasn’t a big fan of there not really being a waiting area for after ordering your food and then the staff making us leave from the obvious waiting area based on the layout of the cafe.
Visited the place while visiting the Houston Zoo. Limited food options (attached menu) like burger, chicken wings and sandwich. Kiosk is crowded with wait time. Wide seating space available within the cafe and in outdoor. Its like 10mins away from entrance if can wait for better options.

Average food, better than what I expected especially for a zoo, a bit overpriced, just don’t go during lunch hour.
Expensive food. $11 for a cheese burger and fries (no drink included for any meal)$11 for a small pizza and $8 for a kids meal $4 $5 and $8 for a drink
It's good
capuccino is good
It’s hilarious how many people are rating a cafe at the zoo like it’s a regular restaurant. Is it overly priced? Of course. Does it taste good? Not really, but that’s to be expected. Is the atmosphere cool? Whole lot better than it used to be. If you’re not trying to spend a whole lot of money just to feel satiated, buy snacks along the trail of the zoo for a much better time, then go to a restaurant nearby after you leave the zoo. Maybe go to Barnaby’s, or even go to the cafe by the paddleboats in Hermann Park. This is not a special restaurant. It’s a good enough place with good enough food and good enough service, but you’re going to pay a lot for it.
I went on a Zoo Lights night and a regular zoo day. The pricing seems pretty high/overpriced. The staff, while informative, were rude both times. It's like they were trying to rush us and didn't want to interact with people. Nonetheless, it was a nice building inside and the food was fresh. The pizza and chicken tenders were great. The burger was average!
I’ve gone here twice and always get the chicken tenders basket for $16. It comes with two pretty large pieces of chicken breast and a handful of fries. I love the batter on the chicken tenders, and everything always comes out piping hot! It’s not those cheap chicken tenders that you get at a cafeteria or theme park - it’s actually super crispy and juicy chicken lol I do think it’s pricey, but I’m not surprised since it’s the zoo. I grab one of these baskets and share with my 2 year old son and we’re both full and ready to continue our zoo adventure. I always pack smaller food with me like an apple, fruit snacks, juice box, and water bottle for us, so the chicken tenders are a nice “power meal.” There’s always people cleaning and wiping down tables.

Our first time here yesterday while visiting the zoo. Not really a place to expect a bang for your buck but considering the location it was what it was. The food was not bad also considering that they were preparing food fast and for 100s of people at the same time. Over all ok. We got two burgers, two drinks, and a pudding desert for $40. Covid-19 protocols in place as far as masks needing to be worn until you sit to eat. Tables available inside and outside the Cafe. 100% capacity. Almost couldn't find a table to sit at.
Horribly overpriced everything. We are done giving them a chance. 3rd time here with disappointment every single time. The only good thing is those taking the order are good with customers. The bean burger was slimy. Not sure how they achieved that. Barely edible. Seasonal salad is touted with a grand description. But it's just picking greens from a salad bar. 50$ for way overpriced food and zero satisfaction. We are done with this restaurant.

Overpriced but food is OK most of the other comments is also going to talk about the astronomical price of food here but we’re at the zoo and it’s convenient
Get a freaking teller machine so I don't have to order my food 5 times in 30 minutes to get it.
Ordered online, waited at the 'Online order pickup' station. The system showed the food was ready, asked a few staff members who told me to wait right there. After 10 minutes I wandered around and saw some packed bags behind the counter and had to cut through the line to get someone's attention. When I found my food it just got worse. Kids chicken tenders came with one dry tender. The mozzarella sticks were filled with something dense and hard that somewhat resembled cheese.
The cheeseburger was so bad, my toddler wouldn't eat it. She even picked off the cheese. On the upside, the fruit cup was fine (mostly melon) and the ketchup was good.
Really expensive. 3 kids meals, 2 adult meals and 3 drinks came to over $80. The food was ok and the service was fast and professional. Definitely not worth the price though.
Not many options and way over priced. The food was prepared too far in advance, with multiple meals lined up, therefore the chicken bacon burger and fries were barely lukewarm. Inside the building was warm, therefore the cold yogurt parfait was runny and not cold enough. The inside is spacious with nice seating areas.
The food menu has downgraded a lot over the years. The food choices have been reduced and there is hardly any variety anymore, not that the price for everything reflects that. Now you have to order for yourself, practically do it all and somehow still pay almost twice as much compared to 2-3 years ago. Definitely a disappointment. Pack your own lunch and safe some money.

This place is HORRIBLE! LET ME START BY SAYING THE Houston Zoo is fantastic, world class even. But if you need to eat during your visit, find a gift shop, food truck, or even some leftovers from the animals, because this place is the worst. It's not that the food is horrible, it's mediocre at best, but edible, it's literally EVERYTHING else. So there is absolutely ZERO organization in here at all, and no signage to direct you either. The woman took our order and then just pointed a finger and said to "wait over there," but didn't tell us why or for how long. While waiting "over there" for about 15 minutes, another employee told me "sir, you need to come right over here and pay for your items." I didn't have any items yet, or even a drink. So I paid, $96.00 FOR FOUR PEOPLE, because it didn't seem like I would get any foot if I didn't pay in advance, and finally I got my sandwich and fries placed on my sopping wet tray with my damp napkins by my beverage cup that doesn't come with a lid, and the only straw option is a paper straw. In summary, the Houston Zoo is AMAZING and you should go, but you would be better off to eat with the animals when it's time to dine especially if you don't want to spend $96.00 on food that's just barely fit for consumption.
The employees were kind but the ordering process was disorganized. After paying for our food, the cashier told us to wait at the table for our food. After 20 mins of waiting we saw employees handing what seemed like our order to someone else. When we asked employees what happened, they said we actually had to wait at the white wall in front of the order counter for our food. So we were waiting at the table all that time for no reason and no one said anything! There is no ‘Wait here after ordering’ sign at the white wall either. We got our food quickly after that and it was okay but not for the price. The rating would not be so low if the food wasn’t so expensive. 60 dollars for two people.
Don't come here. The prices are outrages for small portions. The burgers are the size of your hand and the pizzas are about 8 inch personal pizzas. Both over $10 each. The burgers tasted like frozen patties you get from high school. The ranch is hot and tastes like its on the verge of spoiling. The fruit that comes with the kids meals is hot. And they charge over $3 just to order online for convenience. The restrooms are cramped and super messy and some sinks and hand dryers don't even work. Plan ahead and eat somewhere outside the zoo.
Absolutely terrible. I’m extremely unhappy with the quality of the service and food at cypress Circle cafe. Absolutely appalling service and quality of food at extortionate prices. The zoo should be ashamed. I am disgusted. I will not make this mistake again. Notice to all visitors: bring food from home, do not put up with this dreadful service.
Very not good. Overpriced food. Tasted very bad- bitter, chewy, odd? Fries were underseasoned and nasty, pizza was chewy, the banana pudding was bitter, and all the food was SO EXPENSIVE!!! Yucky yucky!!! Very dirty. Us? We don’t like that. “I no no like it” - Jourdyn “I don’t have one.” - Angelique “Hmmm…” - Fai
Friendly employees, confusing ordering/wait process, and the mozzarella cheese pizza is so gross. Tried to eat what I could (as it’s a bit pricey) but had to stop.
Probably the worst food ever! Only If I knew. So sad. Spent $76 for 4! 😭

The chicken bacon sandwich was spicy, it doesn't say that it was. I was dying out here. I Think it was the cheese.
Horrible Service and rude staff. Buyer beware do not do a mobile order worst setup.
Bought a chicken sandwich tasted awful got food poisoning from it got so sick will not ever eat there again awful and over priced .The staff was horrible and rude kept getting our orders confused with others the most horrible food lazy workers this place needs to be reported the chicken I was served had a bad smell and the most awful taste it's been 5 days and my stomach still feels awful from food poisoning .
The priciest restaurant in Houston for basic pizza and burgers. They charge 5$ for a medium coke and don’t even refill
We walked in and its was chaos we had to ask about why to do for everything there was nothing telling us to move where to wait for your food.
Pls dont go there. The food was totally horrible. High priced for little portions and ended up completely tasteless. 👎 👎 👎
No straws. Even during covid. No selection for smaller children. (Soft foods). Tables dirty. (Covid)
Don't ask for tap or cup of water it's the same price as a coke. $5.00 ridiculous!
Disappointing tbh! The zoo allows cooler so bring you food/snacks with you
The staff was untrained, disorganized and had no sense of what customer service was. Bad Managment.
Horribly seasoned, fries were ok
literally took 10 minutes to get my food
Entirely unorganized and overpriced for food that’s not that good
Staff service are very rude.
Worst service ever.
Don't come here! Not worth it!
Horrible
Pizza was disgusting and the fries were plain. Horrible experience ever, such a waste of money and wasted about $50 to literally end up having to throw all the food away.
The ordering system is confusing and the food is not worth it. Really hate eating a sandwich where the bread is still cold and hard from being in the fridge.
They take forever to get food out. For how many people work here. They do a very terrible job. Especially remembering people and what they got.
Food was bland (chicken tenders) and over priced. Lord even the condiments was nasty. Waste of money, DO NOT come here !
Went yesterday, the food was way overpriced and the portions were less then filling. 5 bucks for medium soda and they make it very clear they wont give you a top for it.
I ate a black bean burger there October 11, 2019. I have all the symptoms of food poisoning last night and all day today. I do not want to eat there again.
This review is solely based on food. Ordered their burger for $16. McDonalds burger is way better. The fries had a weird taste. Overall very very dissatisfied with the quality of food. The staff is nice though.
The food is fine. The problem is the system. There isn’t one. You tell your order to a person who then just yells it to the kitchen, nobody necessarily hears it and there’s no record of your order. You are then asked to pay for your order before you receive it and again the sale doesn’t then get communicated back to the kitchen. I waited 20 minutes while random items were brought out from the kitchen and offered to the most aggressive or angry customer. I had to ask aggressively to have someone take my receipt and not come back until the order was filled, which was another five minutes thereafter. Again, the food was fine, enjoyable even, but I will never subject my family to this place again because of the service and the prices ($50 for two kids meals, an adult meal, and two fountain drinks!)
May have been the worst restaraunt i've been to in a while. Extremely expensive food for the quality of it. Food wasnt even hot and the open faced chicken sandwich tasted burnt, dry, and didnt even come with fries. Its 6 dollars a drink with no free refills. Could've used the fifty bucks i spent here at olive garden with way better food.
Me and my girlfriend came here a while back and we forgot to leave a review on this restaurant. We came here with not a lot of money and onyl to find out how overpirced things were on the menu! And to top it off we decided to share a chicken tender basket, since it was decently cheap considering the menu. We thought, "surely there is absolutely NO way you can screw up on chicken tenders right?" Wrong. The fries were incredibly soggy as well as the chicken. The breading had no flavor and was so soggy it was practically coming off of the chicken. And even the bare chicken itself had no flavor. What could have been a perfect date at the zoo, was a little dampered by the horrible chicken tenders we had. And what's up with not giving out a straw or a top to the drinks? Not going here again. The setting is nice tho. Edit: forgot to mention the hair that was in our food :) please don't eat here..
After the people in front of me in line order the server disappeared, so I waited at the bar for some one to assist me. Four people were managing the pizza stove area 4 feet in front of me and none of them would make eye contact contact me for 2 minutes. A random girl behind the counter made eye contact with me so I quickly asked for a chicken sandwich. The server came back after I got my sandwich and just moved on the the woman behind me. While she was helping the lady behind me with a beer, I asked for one myself and she awkwardly served me. The chicken sandwich was chewing and hard to eat. Overall, poor staff experience and low quality food.
The employee at this cafe give overpriced cold greasy food with nasty tasting drinks. I saw flies on top of people's burgers. They charge on $2 on refill for drinks when they should be free since their at outrageous prices. The food here is EXPENSIVE even for kids plate. Employee shouldn't judge people based on their race, ethnicity or thier wealth.
Very confusing layout. No signs to say where to order or where to get what. Most of the staff was rude or not working at all. I expected higher prices for less than great food (you are a captive audience), but the rest was bad. I will really consider packing my own lunch the next time we visit.
$16 hot dogs…nothing but frank and meat. And that’s after a 15 minute wait in line. $61 for three hot dogs and two sodas. Thieves!
Staff came to our table before we left a started spaying and wiping the table!RUDE! SO WE MOVED to another table 20 minutes later they are trying g to rope us in we asked them to not rope us in so they continued to move their cordon ropes and it falls over on my Grandson. ! THEN I GET DIRTY LOOKS AFTER ASKING AGAIN TO LEAVE US ALONE! Totally ruining a great time with my family I'll at the Zoo.! I'll pack lunch if I ever come back to this high priced low Quality food joint
I have never been to a restaurant that is so disorganized. The process of ordering and paying for food is a joke (you can literally walk away with someone else’s order and they would never know). The staff kept asking people waiting for their food what they ordered. I was asked five times! Three, by the same person who took my order and the only thing I asked for was the chicken tender basket! People kept coming back for items they were missing. I don’t know who manages this restaurant, but they clearly have no idea what they are doing.
If I can put zero star I will! We ordered for pick up waited for 40 mins and they told us they can’t find our name. They should’ve check order number . 40 mins is such a waste of time and I’m starving and Im pregnant! WE DIDN’T GET OUR FOOD! I hope we can easily get our money back/despute from the bank.
If I could score them ZERO STAR I would definitely do it! Food is disgusting, prices are ridiculously high, service is bad. They charge me 4.5 dollars for a small chips and when I mentioned the price tagged as 3 dollars on the shelf they just gave me a lost looks and totally ignored me. Please Take your food to zoo.
The food is okay, but do store managers just play without managing the store? It made customers confused and did not consider the movement at all. If the manager sees this, he will have to think about it seriously. improve or change jobs.
Where to start? The staff could not answer a single question I asked. The staff was doing much more standing around than anything else. The meal was worse than gas station food. The prices were way too high but, that’s to be expected, of course. The one star is because I went in hungry and came out a little less hungry.
Wow. They have such a nice place and they run it like trash. They don't have a system. you have to give your order to someone who yales it to another and then order again at a register. The food isn't awful but could be better. It's such a wasted opportunity for a place that has so much potential.
If I could rate it 0 stars I would. The customer service is horrible, all the orders get mixed up. If you ever plan on coming here, I advise you to eat before or bring food. Their food is over priced for the low quality you receive. It’s not worth it at all.
Chicken entree missing provolone cheese and bacon, meat dry and overcooked. Rude customer service. Refused toothpick while POINTING at toothpick in display counter, $20 dollar purchase! Refused toothpick!! Horrible, terrible service
They take advantage of the zoo visitors because they know that people have to eat there That’s why it’s over priced a lot not just a little Also small portions and the food is not that good And the fountain drinks ! Get a load of this 4 dollars for a medium size and it comes with no straw and no refill If you want the refill you have to pay 8 for a large Thats is outrages Please don’t eat there unless you have too We only ate there because we have kids Worst restaurant I have been to period
This place is a joke. $40 for a sandwich and a pizza that are barely edible. Staff is standing around everywhere talking to each other. No allergens information. They can’t even tell you what is on the “seasonal pizza” other than, “seasonal”.
veggie burger was so nasty and mushy. the workers are understaffed and its so busy so i understand why its so hectic and the wait is long but dont get it if you need a vegetarian option
$13 for a kids meal that is literally 1 chicken tender is an absolute joke. What a rip off. Even Disney is cheaper and also better.
The Asian guy serving us behind the counter was EXTREMELY rude! He did not listen to my order, prepared the wrong item and slammed by food down much to my and the cashier's surprise. He kept yelling at other customers also
Friendly employees but terrible food and to make it worse it's overpriced. The zoo allows outside food, do yourself a favor and bring your own food or eat before you come.
This place was horrible, matter of fact this place ‘is’ horrible. As we all was starving for food, we decide as a group that we go get pizza, which was 30$ for a DIY pizza that was slammed together and was cooked for 5 seconds like a easy bake oven. I rather eat the dust that was on the table. The place was disorganized, and people was just running around like scattered rodents. We finally get our witch pot of food and drinks to found out they didn’t sell straws, nor had any tops for drinks. We was topless and that blow it. We ignored it and look on our plates to only see that they wanted to play Tetris’s with our pizza and made it completely uneven, we had to get up ourselves and get a plastic knife. I wanted to backhand every employed for selling me a plate of stupidity. Although it was seasoned, the only best part sadly. I felt gaslighted into eating a piece of under cooked, overprice, flat piece of pizza. Do NOT go, if you want to get scan into nothing.
If you're going to charge as much as you do, at least guarantee that the food will be hot. Everything was cold!! My burger had old tomatoe slices and wilted lettuce. It's a zoo, your main customer base are kids, do better on having kid options.
Gross, overcooked, luke warm, expensive food. It cost 48$ for 3 people to only get 3 sides of fries a cheeseburger and 6 chicken strips. Cheese burger was cold and bland. Chicken was very dry. Fries were OK I guess. Didn't get drinks because a 20oz was 6 dollars with no refills! If the food is going to be over priced... at least make it taste good.....
The zoo overall was great but I don’t recommend eating there. $67 for 1 horrible sandwich, 1 horrible salad with chicken on it, over fried chicken tenders, 2 water bottles. The staff appeared to be miserable. Despite being hungry, we threw away the food, that’s how bad it was.
DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR SALAD!!! I got the spinach kale salad. It was $16 and was the size of a small side salad 😡😡😡 no protein just salad. It’s absolutely outrageous!!! The chicken tenders are dry and not good. Pizza is flat with minimal cheese. French fries were ok.
Will happily charge you $18 for a handful of fries and a cheeseburger, $15 for a "cheese" and turkey sandwich and an apple.. $4 for a 6oz carton of milk.. but if you ask for a small cup to pour that milk into for your kid to drink from? Oh no.. no we can't do that. You have to BUY ANOTHER DRINK to get a cup.
Bottom of the barrel food. Actually worse than the bottom of the barrel. We ordered 2 pizzas ($30 in total) off the simple fact that we were starving. $30 for 8 unevenly sliced pieces of pizza. The drinks were a trifling $6 but it doesn’t come with a lid nor straw. The pizza was rolled out SO THIN , I could’ve got a better experience just eating the paper towels next to me. When I say thin, I mean slightly thicker than a piece of paper. A tortilla was thicker than the pizza, there was 5 pieces of pepperoni on the pizza & the sauce ratio was more than the actual bread itself. The best thing about this place was the breeze I got when I was walking out. I paid $40 for some toilet tissue with ragu sauce on it & a $6 drink. I could’ve went to chucky cheese a got dinner & a show for a lesser price. Trash garbage can place that takes advantage of people that are clearly hungry & thirsty.
It's comforting the animals are fed better. This place you better be prepared for massive lines, horribly over cooked food, and hideous expensive food ($18 for some burned chicken wings and over fried fries?!?!?). Better than nothing, but this just makes me leave early and grab something on my way out.
