I absolutely loved my lunch at Le Jardinier. Every dish explored new flavors, and each bite felt like a true work of art. I started with the fig burrata, followed by the Green Circle chicken for my main course, and finished with the beautifully crafted In Bloom dessert. If you haven’t been yet, treat yourself to this experience at least once. The cuisine is artistic and unforgettable, and the service is truly top notch.

If you’re at the MFAH, Le Jardinier is a must. It recently earned a Michelin star, but it doesn't feel stuffy. Located right in the Kinder Building, they do a "Culinary Canvas" menu where the dishes are actually inspired by the museum’s exhibitions, which is a really cool touch. The food is French-inspired and very vegetable and herb-forward—everything tasted incredibly fresh. I highly recommend the 3-course lunch special - it’s a great value for the quality you're getting. Plus, the staff was wonderful and really went out of their way to make me feel special.

First visit to Le Jardinier and I get it now. The salad had no business being that good. Fresh, bright, and balanced enough to make me slow down and actually enjoy a salad. The burger had me locked in. No talking, just eating. Exactly what you want from something that simple done that well. Dessert was a thoughtful finish that didn’t try too hard, just clean flavors and a nice landing. The whole meal felt elevated but still comfortable, which is a tough balance to pull off. I will definitely be back.

The service at Le Jardinier was truly next level, attentive, intuitive, and executed with quiet precision. Every detail was anticipated before we even had to ask. Paired with food that melted in your mouth and looked like literal art, it was a flawless dining experience from start to finish.

The most incredible food we have ever had in all our travels. We got the art lovers lunch. I was so pleased with the stunning food and plan on us coming back. I highly recommend it and it is worth every penny. Absolutely stunning experience.

I was really impressed by this place. We did the tasting menu which was a nice surprise since we came for a simple brunch. The food was delicious and the presentation was great. Would definitely come back!

I had the opportunity of visiting the restaurant for lunch a few weeks ago, and was blown away by their hospitality, interior design, and, of course, their incredible food. It’s located in the Museum of Fine Arts, and its atmosphere is modern and beautiful. From the first greeting by the hostess, to our friendly server, I was pleased. For lunch, we had the chef’s seasonal menu, Taste of Winter, which was a four course meal for $90. The first course was Burrata, with figs, treviso, pecan gremolata, and fruit compote. The second course was their Eggs on Eggs, which included soft scrambled eggs, royal kaluga caviar, and brioche. The third course, which was my favorite, was filet mignon, with fried eggs, broccoli rabe, and potato mille-feuille. The filet mignon was very tender. Finally, for the fourth course, we had Pear Tart, which included elder flower chantilly, and lemon cream. With the last course, I also had chamomile tea. It was soothing. All in all, I was impressed by my experience there. I will definitely go back there and highly recommend it. I look forward to visiting during dinner, someday.

We had brunch and the food was excellent. Proper temperature and preparation. We like to eat and if the food is done right especially any cuisine but French is amazing!! Prices match the quality of what you get here. Would come again for dinner sometime in the future.

Food and service was amazing. Ordered the scallop, ravioli, and NY strip for two. The restaurant offered a free desert because we were there for a birthday and we also ordered the apple swirl caramel cake. Everything was delicious, our waiter was very informative and helpful.

Le Jardinier is a must-experience among the Michelin-starred restaurants in Houston. Appropriately located at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, every dish at Le Jardinier is like a contemporary artwork, making every visit a truly unique visual and tasting experience. I loved it!

The only one hiccup we had was that at the end. The hostess mixed up our to go bags. And once myself and my friend got home and opened our bags do realized we received the wrong ones. Other than that, we stopped in for a visit here After night at the museum. We were able to be seated at 9:00 p.m. without a reservation. Was an hour wait but worth it. Everything was exceptional. We were seated at the bar, greeted promptly, our order were taken right away. The bartender was excellent. Food was delicious, big compliments to the chef😋.

Our 11th Anniversary. What an exceptional experience. The attention to detail in the plating, presentation, hospitality, and steps of service were impeccable. Literally everyone understood their assignment. So here’s the deal, there is valet, and its ran through the Museum. Unfortunately, within 5 minutes of arriving, the valet damaged our brand new car. And I dont mean a door ding or tiny scratch. Its gonna be expensive to repair. Fortunately, the valet took full responsibility and will be paying for the repair. I dont bring this up as a knock against the restaurant, because theyre not affiliated. I say this because this dining experience was so magical, that in that moment, time stopped, and we were able to forget the mishap upon arrival, and never stopped smiling and enjoying every dish from the tasting menu. At times we literally giggled from one element in the current dish to the next. Every table got the same level of care, and attention. This is what they do. Everyone that stopped by our table to do their part in the process cared about what they were doing, and it shows. Our server Diana was a rock star, ask for her! Management was present from start to finish and everyone made sure our anniversary was a moment to remember. We definitely look forward to visiting again! Update: I was having trouble getting the process for repairing our new car started. Getting the appropriate people on the phone was seemingly impossible. The General Manager of Le Jardinier assisted me in this also. THIS is hospitality yall. Wow. To the team at Le Jardinier MFA Houston, thank you!

This has been on my saved places to go since they opened. My girlfriends and I decided to try it due to their participation in Houston Restaurant Week and wow! We all just can’t thank the service enough and the food was amazing. The food was beautiful and delicious the seasonal menu makes the flavors pop with season. Couldn’t be more thankful for Tia and Melody making the experience so much more memorable and meaningful. Will be coming back to bring my family!

Really had a great Sunday brunch here. Started with friendly hostess who transitioned seamlessly to a fantastic server. The food, however, was the real star. Tried the burrata appetizer and it was so incredibly fresh, we both loved it. Then the Sake marinated fried chicken over polenta that was so juicy and flavorful ! Also enjoyed the branzino with the crisp skin and moist fish. excellent. Ended with the seasonal peach tart - a sweet, refreshing dessert perfect for our summer brunch.

Great food and service. The cured salmon and melon starter was a perfect combination of flavor. The cherry puff pastry dessert is also a must have. Staff were friendly and introduced each dish simply. Can't wait to come back.

Excellent experience dining at LJ for Houston Restaurant Week 2025. My Mother & I, both dined in for their lunch menu. The food was plated beautifully as you can see, the flavor was even better. Service was outstanding, I can’t remember a moment that went by; where my mom and I were in need of something. I would definitely make reservations to come back again for the dinner menu. I can see why this restaurant has a Michelin star.. hopefully two come soon!

Appetizers and desserts were phenomenal. Absolutely loved the beef tartare and burrata. The entrées were a bit underwhelming compared to the starters and sweets. Prices are actually very reasonable for the quality. If I come back, I’d honestly just order more appetizers and desserts. Mandatory 20% gratuity with fairly basic service (the lady didn’t really interact with us).

First time visiting this place and would definitely go back! initially, we were going due to the three course meal that they had, but we eventually ended up going with the five course meal and the best decision we ever made. To be fair service was a little iffy, when we were sat we got drinks and then forgotten about for 20 minutes. We ordered once our server came back to the table and after that it was great! i loved the wait in between courses since it made us hungry all over again and able to enjoy the next course without feeling stuffed! i would say the dessert was disappointing the pistachio ice cream was very sweet and the cherry pastry was extremely tart, it didn’t pair well in my opinion. I left kind of sad due to the dessert since the steak was the best dish over all i was expecting the dessert to go way and beyond but it just didn’t for me.

10/16/25 I returned again recently, as I visit the museum at least once a month and decided to stop in for a quick bite. Le Jardinier undeniably excels in ambiance, location, and overall concept—but in my experience, it has often been either very good or surprisingly mediocre. This most recent visit, however, was the complete opposite of my prior one. The service and attention were excellent, and the pacing of the meal was spot-on—especially appreciated as I was starving. Impressively, they noted from my reservation profile that my birthday was coming up in a week. Although I initially declined dessert since I don’t typically eat sugary items, they still brought a small offering that was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. I ordered the salmon confit, which was truly outstanding. And while I usually avoid bread, their bread basket remains impossible to resist—consistently excellent. The butter alone deserves special mention; I could eat it by itself. This last visit showed the restaurant at its best—proof that when Le Jardinier is on, it can be exceptional. 08/06/25 I had written a review just three days ago, but after receiving an email announcing a new menu, I found myself craving this restaurant and decided to return today — which is why I’m updating my review with this recent experience. Unfortunately, everything went from bad to worse. It started with our server taking over fifteen minutes to return and take our order after introducing himself. He only came back after I managed to make eye contact with a staff member clearing tables and asked her to send him over. The biggest disappointment came when I wanted to try the four-course menu and was told I couldn't because we were a party of two and both guests are required to order it. My mother, who accompanied me, has a very small appetite, and forcing both guests to commit to the full menu felt unnecessarily restrictive. Still, I chose not to make a scene — I was there to enjoy a meal, not argue over policy. I ended up ordering two dishes: the risotto, which was decent but nothing memorable, and the burger. I often find it interesting to try burgers at Michelin-rated restaurants, expecting some kind of unique twist or elevated execution — but this one was thoroughly mediocre. Definitely not something I’d ever crave or reorder. To make matters worse, when my burger arrived, I was only given a knife and spoon — no fork. I had to ask twice before finally receiving one. Then came dessert: my mother’s two-course menu included three scoops of ice cream, which were honestly quite good. Meanwhile, I was never given a dessert menu or asked if I wanted anything until right before her dessert was served — far too late, considering the overall pace of the meal. By the time dessert hit the table, the experience had already soured, and we were both more than ready to leave. After this visit, I won’t be returning any time soon.

Beautiful atmosphere but mid level food and awkward service. Service: I am going to go into detail here but this is not Michelin service level by any means. We had lunch for four on a Friday afternoon, which was rough from the start. We were seated promptly, and our initial waiter asked for our water preference and brought it quickly. Afterwards, we sat there waiting for about 5-10 minutes without any menus or being acknowledged again. Once we got the menus, our new waitress gave us an explanation of the set courses but spoke very quietly, did not smile once, and was very cold. I usually give waiters the benefit of the doubt because I don’t know what day they have had, but at a Michelin star restaurant it was odd that our waitress really didn’t want to be there. She returned, and asked what food we wanted to order, but didn’t ask us for any drink order and was still genuinely very stoic and displeased. We ordered both drinks and our meals at once, and she said she’d bring bread for the table. A while passed by, and we saw 2 waiters bringing out food in both hands, circle around the restaurant and go back into the kitchen. Then we are brought our bread, and immediately following our starters were brought out by the two circling waiters from before. They clearly didn’t want to set down the starters since the bread was missing and never was brought to the table. Our mains were brought out after we finished our starters, and the check was brought afterwards when we asked for it. The waiters did keep our water glasses filled and one staff member showed me to the bathroom (outside the restaurant only) when I asked. Food: It was fine… it was presented well! But it tasted just average and certainly the taste did not match the cost being charged. $45 for a main and entree was reasonable, but I’d rather go someplace else for lunch to be honest for a better tasting meal. The individual entrees were $30-50 which is outrageous for what they were, so I can only recommend going for the 2 course set menu. I’m glad we went once to experience it, but won’t go again.

The food was solid but nothing that really stood out except the sunchoke veloute. The service was shockingly odd for a Michelin restaurant. Servers kept playing taking away utensils that we were still using and kept giving a lot of extra plates. At one point I got spoons for an upcoming dish that were taken away before that dish arrived and new ones provided again. The waiter attempted to describe wines that he was 100% wrong on. I knew on my own but was validated when the sommelier came by with different descriptions as well. Butter, butter knives and bread plates were taken away before the bread was done. Generally really weird service.

Came here for brunch, for a double birthday celebration with 2 of my friends. I didn't want the $90 fare, but the other 2 ladies wanted to try it. We were told, if 1 person orders, everyone at the table must also order. I've never heard such a ridiculous policy. So we ended up ordering a la cart items. I didn't particularly like my food, the fish with lentils (I'm no fan of lentils). The other girls liked their meals. Please make your coffee strong if I'm gonna be charged $7 for it, and bring refills. The menu isn't much. No difference between lunch and brunch, it's all the same. The cheese spread is ok, nothing to wow you about. And definitely nothing from France. I did enjoy the atmosphere and service, too notch. From the receptionist to the waiters, all excellent and courteous at their job.

Le Jardinier serves excellent food in an open, bright space filled with natural light; however, the service has a lot of room for improvement. We went for restaurant week and chose to have a main dish and a dessert. The main was fish - Branzino with couscous taboule and fennel - a generous portion filled with flavor. The highlight, worthy of a five star rating were the desserts - poached peach tart and caramel sabayon topped with dark chocolate - both of which were out of this world in their taste and presentation. Unfortunately the service was not worthy of the Michelin recognition or any restaurant that serves that exquisite. To start, the hostess walked us to the table and waved her hand suggesting that we should sit ur before we could even ask she had disappeared. It was a bit rude to just drop off the menus and wave us to sit without a word. Off-putting to start and to end the meal when we ordered coffee and tea. It took ages for it to be served, more than 15 minutes and we asked why we were told that it was so the tea could seep. Ok. Odd. Can’t that happen at the table? When we asked we were told no, the teapot has to stay in the kitchen and the bag must be removed after it was served. Aren’t there dishwashing machines? Or even possible to hand wash if such a delicate piece of porcelain needs careful attention? To pay for a cup of tea and only 1/3 of the tea cup was filled and we could not even continue to pour the rest tea was just weird. Having dined around the world at restaurants of all levels have never experienced this. And unfortunately a month after what was a delicious meal, this is what we remember. It’s a shame. Definitely go for the food and the atmosphere and that’s all.

I've had remarkable experiences at other Le Jardinier locations, but this one, from a Michelin standpoint, has always felt fairly unimpressionable. The food is good, yet not memorable enough to justify the reputation it aims to uphold. Unfortunately, this most recent visit highlighted service issues as well. Not one, but two portions of wagyu that were specifically requested to be packed to go were never given to us. For a restaurant operating at this price point and caliber, that kind of oversight is disappointing and shouldn't happen (In which the solution was to fetch our food before closing). Overall, while the experience wasn't terrible, it fell short both in execution and attention to detail. Between the lack of distinction in the food and the service lapse, it's hard to feel compelled to return (this was my fourth try).

The Autumn lunch tasting was fine, we found the flavors of the burrata and mushroom dish to be fairly linear in flavor profile. Trout was nice, dessert was unimaginative. Service was sub-par. Not inattentive, but very odd. She seemed as though she was having a bad day — but a guest being able to pick up on that at a Michelin starred restaurant? Not great. She basically came by a few times and said “how is it?”. We asked about the museum exhibit, she answered “I don’t really like sculptures”. Nobody was smiling, everyone looked very stressed — including the maitre d’, who looked to be about 20. The maitre d’ and our server seemingly had an argument/altercation standing by the side of the bar out in the open. It’s not a good look when I’m more interested in your restaurant drama than the food. It’s the worst experience I’ve had at a starred restaurant. BCN the night prior was at a completely different level.
