Came with a whole group of people around 13 of us for Chinese New Year. Dinner was great. Lobster tower was divine. Worth the cost. Peking duck was very tasty. Only complaint is the service people are not so friendly and helpful. They always seem bothered when we ask for anything. It's sad because it's suppose to be fine dining. If this is improved, I think it would be a fabulous place.
We recently stopped by Fung’s Kitchen on Southwest Freeway, and it felt like a hidden gem. The staff welcomed us right away, and every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. We were there for a casual lunch, but the atmosphere made it feel easy and comfortable, like a place you could come back to again and again. Fung’s Kitchen is the kind of spot that makes you appreciate what Houston has to offer — good people, great food, and a space that just feels right. SEE YOU AT THE TOP 🚀
I had the pleasure of dining at Fung’s Kitchen recently, and the highlight of the experience—aside from the delicious dim sum—was the outstanding service from our server, Sharon. From the moment we were seated, Sharon was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. She navigated the busy dining room with ease but never made us feel rushed. She gave excellent recommendations, especially for first-time visitors unsure of what to try. Her suggestions for the Shao Mai Shrimp & Pork Dumplings and oysters were spot on. What really stood out was her professionalism paired with a genuine warmth. She complimented us, kept our tea refilled without being asked, and even noticed a dietary preference in our group, making sure to suggest dishes accordingly. In a restaurant as popular and bustling as Fung’s Kitchen, it’s easy for service to feel impersonal—but not with Sharon. She made us feel welcome and valued, and her upbeat attitude added so much to our meal. Highly recommend requesting Sharon if you visit Fung’s Kitchen. She truly elevates the dining experience. Thank you!
Hadn't been before, but my girlfriend wanted to go with friends for her birthday. Nice concept. Kind of like Brazilian steakhouse style (think Fogo De Chao) but for dim sum. With the exception that you don't pay upfront, you pay for all of the items you pick from the cart. Had a friendly server named Rod! He took such great care of us. Friendly staff all around. No automatic gratuity is included! Tip your server respectively.
First-time visitors needs to try the lobster mountain, and don't let the price turn you away. My family wanted to experience a traditional Chinese meal like the one in A Christmas Story on 12/25. We didn't get the singing, but there was plenty of chaos. There was a long wait time, so by the time we were seated, we were hungry. The service surprised me with how nice everyone was despite the limited staff in the kitchen. Everyone kept barking at each other loudly in Mandarin which made me laugh--it's how busy restaurants succeed. Communication I key. There was zero downtime for the staff. If they weren't helping patrons, they were busy folding napkins. Impressive set-up, and the food was delicious. The lobster mountain was obviously the highlight, flavorful and mouth-watering bites that I still think about long after our meal. I've never been able to get a table here on special days like Mother's Day. There are usually lines out the door, and I can see why. The food here is solid. My family thoroughly enjoyed our meal and want to come back for dim sum. $336 total with tax + tip fed a family of 5 on a Christmas. We ate well.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Stars – Absolutely Amazing! Fung’s Kitchen exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm smiles and excellent service. The atmosphere felt elegant yet comfortable — perfect for family gatherings, celebrations, or even a casual night out. The food was the real star of the night. Every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. All of it authentic and delicious, and the seafood tasted incredibly fresh — especially the lobster and the shrimp dishes. You can really taste the quality in every bite. What impressed me most was the service. The staff were very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made great recommendations and checked on us often without being intrusive. Overall, Fung’s Kitchen is a true gem. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. If you’re looking for one of the best Chinese dining experiences in town, this is definitely the place to go. I can’t wait to come back again and try more dishes!
We stopped here and thought why not eat here before the concert. I love how huge this place is! I loved watching the crabs lol We went straight inside and were sat down right away. The staff were helpful and she reminded me to take a video of her heating up my pork belly. The Peking duck and pork belly were very delicious. We're glad we came here!
Fung's Kitchen is honestly a Houston staple! It's been around forever for a reason. The food is always consistently delicious. Seafood is a specialty here and their chefs can cook it any way you like. The interior is huge so it's great for large parties. Order family style to try a little bit of everything, enjoy! Their garlic snow pea leaves and salt toasted squid are some of the best in the city!
This place was amazing...so worth waiting up early on Sunday to get in line by 10:30...it fills up fast. Every dim sum. Was hand made and loved...so delicious that I will bring all my Chinese aunties here. ADA wheelchair accessible but no pets. Tight fit. If you see something you like grab it.
We hasn't even sat down before we were offered food. We had a fantastic time. After tip between seven people it was only about $35/pp which was great. We all got to have some favorites and try new things. The egg yolk buns were incredible. The service was outstanding. Can't wait to go back!
The service was superb. This is a huge restaurant. The waitress told me that they can take care more than 500 people dining in at the same time. 😱the food was amazing. I love love love the crispy taro dumplings. All other dim sum plates were great except the chashao bao. We don’t like too much fillers inside. Anyway, it is just personal preference. Will visit again. Highly recommend.
Overall an authentic experience. Large hotel-esque space, and a very lively atmosphere, similar to what you would experience in Guangdong Province, China. I do think the food is a bit hyped up and is really just okay, but may be the best you can find in Houston. Overall lots of variety, I think many of the foods are bit on the sweet side, but most Americans probably enjoy this flavor. Great for large groups.
Dim sum lunch was pretty good. First time having the lobster tower and it didn’t disappoint. Plenty of lobster and enough for a large party of 10 people. Service was great but wait was long (about an hour) for 10 people on a Friday at Noon. Shumai, har gow, and chicken feet were delicious.
Very crowded, and like some other reviews said, it can get hectic. You definitely want to get there early, or there will be a long wait. Also, being able to speak Chinese is very helpful in communicating with servers and people pushing carts. The servers kept a close eye on the table at all times to take plates away or refill tea. For the food itself, I didn’t get to try everything, but everything I ate was good, with a few exceptional items, and one item that was a little mediocre. The exceptional: fried salt and pepper squid, green beans. I really enjoyed the green beans especially, and you can tell they treat their vegetables very well. I would guess they twice cook it like potatoes, boiling and then frying, probably in salt water and then finishing with more salt after the fry while it’s hot. The salt really penetrated the green beans and made it so flavorful. Texture and taste were on point, and surprisingly the vegetable was my #1. Honorable mentions go to har gow dumplings and the Chinese broccoli, which were both just as exceptional, but just less as good as the green beans. The chicken feet were pretty good. Boiled to death so that the feet were very tender and gelatinous enough to fall off the cartilage and bone easily and you didn’t have to fight with it to pick off the meat. Definitely a decent spot to try them for the first time if you haven’t. The worst item was the sticky fried rice, ate more like a glutinous rice that should’ve probably been wrapped in lotus leaf, and was just under seasoned and not as flavorful, while also lacking that wok hey. Too starchy, and probably wrong type of grains I prefer for fried rice.
Food is always great here, fresh live seafood, and many options. On the pricy side but still acceptable. We came in on a Sat. Night, place is packed, we have total 7 people which we were clearing one plate at a time, and had to wait for other dishes for a while, this experience is not ideal, we would prefer to have at least 2-3 dishes served at once at least.
We went here for Dim Sum. This place was ok in terms of food. The steam bean curd rolls did not taste very good. Black bean steam pork was more fat than meat. Don’t get the soup dumplings cause the texture of the meat was loose with no flavor. Lastly, the egg tarts are more crust than egg tart filling. However, I love the fried shrimp balls, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, chicken feet and Ha Gow was great. The price was expensive. Don’t think will be coming back. The people serving us our food were very attentive and helpful. Atmosphere was clean and the people are polite. Just wish the food would be better.
We arrived with six people, excited for the king crab feast for our group. We pointed it out on the menu, but somehow the waiter tried to convince us to order just the king crab two ways, which was pricier than the feast option. Thankfully, we caught her before she had the crab cooked. The food was solid, easily a 4 out of 5. Our favorites were the Lobster Mountain and the steamed garlic sauce king crab legs. The quail was surprisingly good, even though it looked a bit dry. The soup didn't quite live up to expectations, and for some reason, we never received our dessert at the end of the meal. Service was inconsistent. The initial server was rather frustrating, repeatedly insisting we wanted the two-way Alaskan king crab instead of the feast. It was clear that we would pay the same amount for much less food. She also hardly refilled our water unless we flagged her down. Fortunately, we eventually had a wonderful older gentleman attend to us, and he was incredibly friendly. I would definitely return, but if I ended up with the same server, I'd think twice. Overall, the prices were justified considering the amount of food we received.
