A simple but comfortable place with great Mexican food. I especially like the breakfast and the gorditas!
Went there for breakfast taco n had very little time. The cook was fast n awesome! First time there n the taco was a hit.
I've been coming here for about 12- 15 years now and I've had great food 99.9% of the time. It's crazy how consistently good the food is. Beef fajita enchiladas with the chili sauce is the best ive had in Houston. The crispy tacos are a very good choice too. Also not gonna lie but their refried beans are legit. I prefer charro beans every where else but here the refried beans are better. I could go on and on but the bottom line is the food here is always good. Some wait time during weekends but that's about the only issue I've encountered here.
This Taqueria is one of the oldest in Houston. I can remember it being open since 1988. I'm sure It might have opened before that year. I like the food. It's very tasty. I usually go for the nachos or the tacos.
It's a good place, avoid the haters, you should go in there order their Aguas Frescas, pineapple is my favorite. Overall foods great, just avoid the haters, if they say it's bad then they don't know anything about food
When you need to plow a field or take on an army of zombies, come here to start your day. 3 types of salsas, chips fried well done enough to shatter your molars, beans that will stick to your ribs and papas to power you through said zombies. Recently having have a triple bypass, I decided cholesterol be damned and ordered 3 breakfast tacos-egg and machacado, egg and tocino, and egg and tocino all on tortillas de maiz. I played DJ switching up the salsas, adding beans and potatoes to suit my taste per bite. I cried they were so good. My partner ordered the huevos a la Mexicana and tears fell on that side as well. We rolled out for 15$ and cried some more. Go.
First time coming here won't be my last. The staff is very welcoming .The salsas are delicious I also like the kids chicken nuggets are chicken Breast pieces
Food is good, my kids always come here with their grandparents and they already know what to order. Very easy place to find and I really enjoy this place.
Had a bad ugly experience at taqueria Mexico first of all food was cold and nasty and the manager was a very ugly person with no kind of customer service was being loud and ugly.I work at a restaurant and I know what customer service is and she told my mom that she didn't feel like getting ugly with her and o said pH no ur not gonna be ugly with my mom.TERRIBLE FOOD AND STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE FOOD.
Went here for a quick dinner and loved it. I think the only problem was me trying to speak Spanish :) Food was excellent, service was very nice and quick.
Great food and music box for great music! Love this place
I've been coming here since I was a kid . I'm 29 years old now and the food is still delicious and tastes fresh . Keep up the good work guys .
the waiters kept coming over to see if everything was ok. was looking for a menudo for the cold weather and it was great. overall great service and excellent food
Homemade the best Mexican food in southwest great prices been here 25 years
Always 100% customer service an
Excellent service and food! The tacos are very authentic and taste amazing! Salsa is great too.
The best in Houston!!!!! Wish they had more places. Everything is amazing the place, workers, and food.
This has become my new favorite Mexican restaurant. So far, I’ve only had the Chilaquiles, but, they tastes like home. The horchata is creamy and very very sweet. The salsas are also incredible. It’s become my favorite comfort breakfast.
I've been coming to this location for 20 years and I've never had a complaint about the food or atmosphere. Family friendly with low - mid price range affordable food options. I particularly come here for the gorditas de carne asada & fajita platters. The aguas frescas are to die for. My preference is between the Tamarindo or Horchata. I love this place.
I’m not sure what the mix up here was in the past few months but we just had dinner here and it was absolutely delicious!! The new cook nailed every single dish we ordered... even our picky toddler couldn’t get enough! The last time we came here, food had no taste, part of our meat was undercooked and the waitresses ignored us. Today, they exceeded all expectations! We will definitely come back and to everyone who had a bad experience in the past, please give them another chance so can be as pleasantly surprised as we were!
Been coming her for over 18 yrs great food and the flavor is really good.
One of my favorite places. I had my graduation party here and everyone loved the food. The best authentic nachos EVER!!!
I've been twice and both times I've gone alone and ordered fajita a la Mexicana, which is NOT on the menu. It's perfection! Sort of a dead, quiet place, but I'm always craving everything "a la Mexicana", and this is the best in the area. Im pretty sure I'd be there once a week if it wasn't for dietary caution. They have Touchtunes jukebox if you're into that.
Discovered this restaurant on Uber Eats and it’s by far one of my favorite Taquerias in Houston! The prices & portions are great and the food tastes like authentic Mexican food, oh so delicious! Highly recommend!
Been ordering from here via delivery and I just say its delicious. They really pack the food well, give salsas, tortillas, everything you need. I appreciate good service and their food is delicious. They also are priced very reasonably. I will keep ordering, thank you Taqueria Mexico
Just went in after being curious for a while about this place. I had a great experience, food was super fresh walk was delicious and the portions are very good for the price . And did I mention the service was excellent, Mrs Paula was a great host. Even though they were busy I never felt forgotten she run my limes I've requested right on time I will definitely be coming back to this place and bring friends he truly feels like Mexico
My favorite breakfast tacos in town. Best tacos in Houston
This is my go to place when I pick up that was for my family we love them the cook really does a good job and the servers are very nice.
I have been going here since I was a child. Food is always amazing! The service is impeccable! It is very delicious and I recommend to anyone and everyone! Real authentic Mexican food!
Not sure why folks don’t love this place. Coming to Houston after 28 years in San Antonio, this place comes as close to that style of food as we’ve found. The flavors are really good, the food is fresh and the folks who serve and wait on you are really really nice and good at what they do. Really, I prefer this over the big chains as well as any other place we’ve tried after being here for 12+ years.
The food was really good!!! The atmosphere was very nice. The restaurant is very clean.
It's a good place to eat, personal is kind and helpful, and it's good price-product restaurant.
Taqueria Mexico it's not just tacos! Here you can find different Mexican meals (enchiladas, sopas, burritos, quesadillas, mole etc) I highly recommend mole with chicken is delicious. - reasonable prices - the place is clean with nice decoration around. - the staff is very friendly (they speak English and Spanish) - the menu explained the ingredients in every meal. - Pozole and Menudo (are available on weekends) - free parking
I used to visit Taqueria Mexico 20 years ago when I worked closer than I do now. I used to love the food then, and I love the food now. The steak was delicious, and the way it was set on top of the fries was perfect, the fries soaked up some of the steak juices perfectly. The salsa with the chips is quite good, but the server brought out to bottles of other salsa, a pink/orange salsa and a green. The pink/orange salsa was outstanding, I can’t even explain the flavor, but I loved it. I need to make it a point to get back to Taqueria Mexico more often.
Pretty good taqueria. I love their sauce, it's the main reason I go, If I'm going to be honest. My favorite plate is the enchiladas Potosinas.... A fajita skirt on top of cheese enchilladas. good stuff.
Decent dishes at authentic dining spot. Two friends & I went to lunch at Taquerias Mexico & when we walked in, we were greeted by a Spanish-speaking server. One of my friends is bilingual & she answered on our behalf. We were seated and a friendly server took our drink orders. She was bilingual as well. We placed our entree orders and within 5 minutes our food was brought out, hot and tasty. I had beef (carne) flautas, Spanish rice & refried beans. The flautas were covered/smothered in sour cream and grated queso blanco & were delicious! Service was attentive but not overbearing at all. Decor was your typical stained glass, round wooden tables & chairs, very charming. It wasn't crowded, the noise level was conversational... not too loud at all. A good choice if you want a quick hot lunch, fairly priced, and pleasant but not pushy service.
This used to be my favorite taquería. My original review is: This is my favorite taquería in Houston. Everything is delicious, consistent, and fresh all the time. The tacos are plentiful and not greasy at all, unlike most taquerías. Two things keep them from five stars: 1) the bathrooms need to be cleaned more often and 2) they are weird about their house green sauce, which you can only have if you dine in; otherwise you get another version of their green sauce (not the same at all). UPDATE: Something happened here and they completely ruined the experience. Prices are up considerably, the tacos were bland and the waitresses were speaking to me in English. The old staff is gone and there is a very pushy lady who speaks only in English even when you speak to her in Spanish. Ugh. No más vuelvo.
Everything is fresh and flour tortillas too (not the corn those are packaged). We had breakfast we are planning to go back on another day for lunch. True Mexican food.
Nice casual place and food. Chicken fajitas was cut differently than other restaurants fajitas plates. Was very good and nicely charred.
1st time coming here, service was good, kind of slow for not being busy, but was greeted promptly and courteous and that's what keeps customers coming back. Food was ok.
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. I usually get the torta with fajita meat and a chile con queso. Service is okay, but usually you do have to wait a while for your food.
If looking for a taqueria, this is a great choice. Good prices, generous portions and a good selection of items. The flavors were spiced right. The staff was really nice and service was fast. This is an older place and has that look, but it was clean. This little place is tucked behind a grocery back off the main road, so keep your eyes open!
I liked the tacos everything else is ok good food
Mostly eat breakfast there on Sunday mornings. Food is good, clean and the service is okay needs work having hired a younger staff. Did have an experienced staff which I loved but all have left to other places. Still recommend.
We w stopped in for lunch, and it was very good as usual. Good food and great service. 👍
I love the tacos, enchiladas, and menudo at this restaurant! Paco always has a GREAT attitude! The staff is friendly. Will return!
Really good place. There tacos al Carbón with the flour tortillas are awesome. Nachos are really good. If you need a really late night dinner this is the place. I have been coming here for 20 years same spot but obviously remodeled since then.
Comment below is correct about the quesdilla they are pretty greasy. The food is great i alway get a cesar salad, a steak plate, shrimp cocktail, or chicken plate and i believe its worth your money. Waitresses....Some are great but there are others that can forget about your order, get your plate wrong, or just be rude. I am not going to say which waitress they are because i do not want to disrespect them.
Everything was great. Food and service, until one has to go up and pay at the register. Very inattentive and rude. If going to be like that, they should leave the check at each table and let customer pay there, otherwise I could have easily walked out.
We really like this place, the grill is to your left when you walk in so you can watch the cook make your meal. It's attached to a grocery store, so the produce and meat is always really fresh. They have good chips and salsa also. Prices are low, even when you splurge and get fajitas.
It’s okay like the waiter took our drink order and then our food order and disappeared until the check was requested. It looks very nice inside however the fagita lacks salt. The flour tortillas were nice. The horchata was very basic and had a lot of ice. Very economical to eat here but if they add a bit of salt then they food would be 10/10 the salsa of the chips was hella good.
Food was good, a bit on the dry side. Wife asked for a smoothered burrito and i dont think they know what smoothered means they brought a bottle of sauce. Other than that food was good.
It is a good place to go to eat with the family, only a little cleanliness is missing in the bathrooms, it also lacked hand paper, friendly staff.
Its clean and theyre attentive but the food has gone down. I've been coming here since I was in diapers back when the building was only the first half. I had enchiladas tex mex today to change things up from my normal gorditas de chicharron and I regretted it. The sauce wasn't good. The meat was wrong, I told them Pollo guisada and I was given fajitas. The portions have gotten smaller. My husband got the fried tilapia. He said his was good but his French Fries were so overly fried they were like rocks with grease when he bit into them. If I do go again it might not be for a long time.
I love this place Ang don’t visit as often as I would like, last 2 times I visited ended up with food poisoning. I wish they would follow food service or health codes.
Great Food and Service, with Hygiene Concerns I recently dined at Taquería México and had a mixed experience. While the food was delicious and the service was excellent, I was disappointed by a hygiene issue. The chef was handling eggs with bare hands, which made me uncomfortable and prevented me from eating the dish. However, aside from this incident, the restaurant delivered flavorful food and provided attentive service. I hope they address the hygiene concern to maintain their high standards.
I enjoy the food but when I take it to go I pay $10.00 just for salsa chips and zanahorias. It’s way too much. We are in a struggle with covid this should not be this high.
Came back after 2+yrs and I was really dissatisfied. Ordered fajita for 2 and it was less than that. Rice plain, salad was already old and the Mexican Coke was warm. I cook better fajitas than this mediocrity..
Good service. But they changed the cook and the food has definitely changed. Unfortunately. This was one of my favorite places to eat Enchiladas Potosinas.
Took my family here, food was a 3 out of 5. The frozen margaritas were only a little frozen and were mainly liquid. Server was rude. Had to remind the server multiple times for things we asked for. It wasnt even busy for there to be that many mistakes. There was only 2 other tables in the restaurant. The queso was wayyy to watery and my son couldnt even get some without it dripping all over the place but atleast it had a taste so I give the queso a 2 out of 5. Probably wont be back theres so many other better quality mexican food with better service.
This place use to be way better. But since they got "raided" they have not been able to replace the people they had. Waited a whole 20 min before anyone realized we were there. And even then they just asked If we been helped and then left and waited another 5 min till anyone else came. The cooks they have now are not good. Food comes out to salty, rice is hard, beans were way to watery. Paste from enchiladas was chunky. Not good at all. Bad food bad service.
Things have changed a lot. We would dine here atleast 3 times a month. Waitresses are rude. They seem to forget everything including bringing the complementary sauces. Food now comes in waves. The last chef who worked there got the job done and our food was all brought at once. Will miss him. Now, for every dish we get a different waitress. Our nachos where stuffed with meat, avocados, and cheese. We are getting lots of chips and beans with little meat. Will not be returning anytime soon. Last visit floor the restaurant smelled like bleach. Changed from 5 stars to 2. Bring back the portions and waitresses and we'll be back asap.
Grabbed to go there tacos for hubby and he really enjoyed them. Did not expect much from just walking in but surprised he liked the sauce and tacos. The place needs some TLC which is why I'm giving it two stars.
I have to assume that that ownership has changed. All the familiar servers and cook are gone. The food has changed as well. It's very hit or miss. To go orders seem the way to go. If you insist, however, in dining in, then be prepared for a waitstaff that wishes you had ordered to go. Keep an eye on how your glass is grabbed for a refill (finger in my glass today). Couldn't stomach drinking from it. Cleaning up tables and sweeping sounds like my prek 4 class putting up their centers. LOUD!! The best thing today was the tortillas. I miss the previous owners and hope they are doing well. From now on it's to go orders for this family.
I personally didn't like it and they were not very friendly or welcoming at the front.
Was just their a few days back, food was not so great. We use to love the gorditas food is not like it was before they notsry have changed chefs
Poor service, meat too salty, overpriced for an average meal. I don't recommend I'll never go. Peace out!
I order the chilaquiles I didn't like them way too much onion it felt like eating spaghetti. The parking lot smells funny like it's fresh asphalt. I like that you could see the food being made it made me think that everything was hygienic. As soon as I walked in I could smell the nasty bacteria coming from the cleaning rags. I'll stick to the chilaquiles from Rustica from now on.
After trying the place out for the 1st time there's no way we could recomend this place to someone else. Rather just stop by a taco truck or a different restaurant would've saved the incovinience. Tacos are not served correctly just the pale tortilla, meat and lettuse(what happened to the onions and cilantro?). I had to get up to the counter and request salsas and lime, etc. There was only2 tables that's including ours..
I'm a regular customer , actually i was a regular customer because after this i wont ever , come back employees steal from you please check the bill before paying they charge extra supposedly for the tips but they didnt provide a good service. I'm always a good tipper but because of their poor service and the fact that they charge you extra for nothin i was very dissapointed. The employees are very RUDE and THEFTS... Please be very careful! Son unos RATEROS aqui porfavor chequeen sus tickets antes de pagar ... Lo peor que tu propia gente mexicana te chinga por eso estamos como estamos !.
The service here has gone down! The menu changed along with the cook, unfortunately not for the best tho 🥺 they used to have this disk pollo con champiñones which was AAAAMAZING now its gone so I ordered tacos and the meat was horrible, I am disappointed I’ve come here since 2003 but will no longer be a customer. Do Not Eat Here!
Food was terrible. Fajita meat was terrible tasted old. Nora stated she is restaurant manager refused to accept return of food. Refused to give refund. Terrible experience Don't try it
Zero stars!! Never coming back again. They’re are very rude and refuse to satisfy a customer!! We order a aqua horchata and it did not taste good at all very bad taste, we asked if they could take it back and we could get a soda instead and he refused with an attitude to me and my husband. His name was Mario, (young boy)He stated I would have to pay for it even though I did not drink it and it was not they’re fault that I didn’t like it and I would still have to pay. I refused to pay and he said if I do not pay then they would call the cops mind your this is over a drink that is 3.99.
On Tuesday January 7 /2020 I went to eat with my 2 kids , I ordered them a plate of 3 kesadillas and kids meal kesadilla and for myself i ordered a fish filet . when my order arrived, my fish was all nasty cover with oil , I told the waitress to take it back to the kitchen and wipe that disgusting oil ,, she took it and brought it back to me the same way . I didn’t eat it at all . The next day I called , to let the manager know about the experience I had . her named was Lili ) She told me to come over any day to get my order replace . On January 10 I was ready to go but , I decided to call before to let her know I was coming . Lili wasn’t there . Another manager named NORA was in charge, she was so un profesional, she keep saying I cannot do anything because you already talked to LiLi. I can’t belive they have such a terrible communication . I been a customer at this place for almost 7 years and THANKS to NORA , I am not coming back . She should be remove from that position she only makes CUSTOMERS go way . She is not good for the business. I told her to give me another # to talk to someone else since she was not helping me . She sayd I am not gonna give you any number and HANG UP ON ME.
My food came out good. Wifes food the sauce tasted like tomato paste (very sour) waiter said it's not there fault if we want something else still have to pay. I paid the bill did not finish food and left. Will never return!
I’ve never been so disappointed in the 12 years that I’ve been coming here. They have new people and the cook that was there for many years is no longer there. We ordered enchiladas potosinas which have been our favorite! But the last two times we’ve been there they turned into something that my 9 year old could probably make better! The salsa on the enchiladas was not even strained! You could still see the seeds from the red Chile’s. There was just like a sprinkle of cheese and you could still see the tortilla. It was like a small quesadilla with a glob of sauce and sprinkled cheese that wasn’t even melted. The rice tasted like I was eating straight cumin! I ordered shrimp and the poor waiter said they didn’t have tarter sauce??!!! The side salad was wilted and white! So disappointed plus when I mentioned it to the manager she was like ok sorry like nothing! She didn’t even bother to try to apologize and take something of our bill that was 90$! For something that was so disgusting n disappointing! NEVER AGAIN! THEY LOST faithful customers! If I could I would give zero stars. That one star is for the waiter who was very nice and poor thing felt ver embarrassed by everything that was given to us.
Well, the lowest rate is one star and i feel that they don't even deserve one. this place used to be good long time ago , but now is a mess. the food has changed definitely. Don't expect the same juicy fajita, the trompo for pastor, the delicious menudo they had before. On top of that now they include the tip on the bill even when the service was lame. Save your money and eat somewhere else.
Used to be really good. But the chips taste old and hard and burnt. Salsa is good.
Never coming back! I had some barbacoa tacos and they were covered in red grease? Believe me I know what real barbacoa tacos taste and look like. And it was just plain and greasy as hell. It was disgusting. And they don't even wear gloves when they cook nor when they prepared the tacos. Smh never again!
First off this restaurant use to be packed on Fridays ..... but now I see why.... and it's not because of covid.....the service is horrible.... The waitress was so rude.... and even though it was her mistake she didn't bother to apologize at all.... but she acted like if nothing. I did not go there begging or asking for anything FREE... I paid $79 for our dinner and the service was horrible.... never going back.
This was probably as good as a low grade tex mex restaurant. Fajitas were tough to chew, no flavor and overpriced. It's a solid mid grade restaurant.
I loved this restaurant and have always had the best experience at this restaurant. This is going to be my last time coming here, the food is horrible, the service is fatal. I don't recommend this place at all, the prices are high as it is and they don't even deliver something that I could even enjoy and say it was worth. Wasted my money and wasted my time.
My wife has been coming here since it was open. It has always been very good and very delicious. Recently, my wife and I have gotten smaller portions; they're chicken enchiladas have gotten 2x smaller and we got a smaller portion of potatoes. My wife asked the owner about why the food is smaller, the owner gave her a attitude and told her that she wouldn't refund it and that she needs to eat it anyway; my wife was very upset about it and we're not coming back again. I did not enjoy my meal either.
One star is too much to rate this place. There should be an option of no stars at all. It is Sunday and is Mother’s Day. You know is going to be a little busier then other days. After waiting for the food for quite a long time (which I get, is Mother’s Day), food comes out one plate at a time. And there is about a 15 minute wait between the plates being delivered to our table. When the food is finally delivered the food is cold and /or we have to wait another 10 or so minutes to wait for the tortillas if your plate comes with it. Other tables are getting food meanwhile my daughter is waiting for her food. An hour and a half later my daughter gets her food and everyone else is done eating. Come on guys. Finish one ticket then go with the next! Not a good experience.
I use to love coming to this restaurant to eat with my family but today I had the worst service ever!!! The food was terrible and the staff was terrible and on top of that, they charged us an extra $25 for the tip. I usually give a good tip but for a terrible service, I do not believe that they deserved it. I should not have to keep on telling them that my mother needs a new cup because it's cracked and her drink is leaking all over the table. And they completely forgot to make my food and my mother’s food and it wasn’t even done right. My father, grandfather and brother’s food was done on time but was not how they asked of it. But my mom said to let it slide because food is food. The waitress never picked up any plates from the table and kept passing by like nothing. I would always tell my friends that this place made good food and had good service but I was terribly wrong and shocked. I will not be returning and I will be telling all my friends to do the same. I DO NOT recommend this place to eat to anyone! This place doesn't even deserve a one star. JUST TERRIBLE!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡
Walked in and first thing I see is how dirty it is. Even after the table was cleaned off there was food stuck to the seats and all over the floor. Employees are very rude. Salsas and queso were very watery. Chips were old and stale. Didn't stay for the food after the waitress told us if we didn't like it she was still gonna charge. They obviously don't care about customer satisfaction.
Your tbone was too tough you made my salad soggy by putting the steak on top instead of on a different container.. We pay too much money only to get a spoonful of sides!!? Will never order from your establishment again it's a waste of money and y'all they food was poorly seasoned
Online the tacos are but one get one free so we order 4 thinking we would get 8 but no it was delivered with only 4 I then call the place the lady picks up tells me Spanish only then hangs up so I call back get someone who spoke English and explained to her what happened they had no understanding what buy one get one free means she states we had to order 8 then they would only charge for 4 but what sense does that make and how would we know that ? Anyway the food has no flavor at all tacos were just meat with huge tomatoe slices not even cut small just all around unhappy with the service will not order here again . Literally food had no flavor
Use a Uber eats offer buy 1 get one free. Ordered 2 chicken, 4 carne asada tacos and 1 torta. They need more seasoning. Too bland for my taste. Big disappointment.
I tried this place for the first time when I ordered a fried fish to go about a week and a half ago. Although the fish looked cooked, it was not. I got food poisoning and it is not a pleasant experience as I am still dealing with the symptoms. I do not recommend this place if you're willing to risk food poisoning.
I honestly don't manage to set many reviews, but this place it's not worth going. First of all the service is horrible as I walk into this place I was waiting about roughly 25 to 30 minutes for them to get my order when they finally got my order from myself and my whole family they gave us the wrong order not to mention that the food was not good WHATSOEVER. They only put a tiny bit of meat on the dish and yet they expect for you to pay everything you order regardless to whether you are satisfied or not. There is a extremely rude and unprofessional lady that she said she is a manager which she started yelling that food is expensive that's why they don't make the food with meat on them. The lady started to act real stupid and humiliating the customers on another table.... And honestly I would NOT!!!!! I mean NOT !!! RECOMMENDED this place where the manager lady disrespect customers and the food services is horrible. If you want to waste your money and get humiliated THIS IS THE PLACE to come.... I should of thought about the fact .....WHY IS THIS PLACE SO EMPTY...when I walked in.... I repeat DO NOT !!!! DO NOT!!!! come to this place where the good is not worth it and service is disgusting..... It is a shame that a want to be manager that I actually think that is part of the owner is discriminating people and then acting really ignorant towards customers this place soon should be shut down because of the service it is horrible experience.
