Been going here for decades. Love the Walker street combo. Frito pie is awesome!
I'm so glad we have a James Coney Island in Humble. I love the new look of the location and the staff are extremely friendly. Our food was ready in no time, and I'm not joking when I say I can't remember a hotdog tasting that good. I like the new food options on the menu, too. They look super tasty.
I grew up on JCI, favorite place ever. Finally brought my children to the experience and it didn't disappoint. The people are friendly and they have plugs to charge your electronics. Check out the Thursday special. LOVE JCI!!!
The Tony cheesesteaks we're very tasty served fresh on White bread with melted cheese. $6.47 for two I would definitely say that is a great deal. Waylon the server was very quick to serve he was thankful and professional.
As many times as I and my coworkers have been eating here, the food is always consistently awesome. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is always friendly. We just wish JCI would come build a restaurant down 59 at Little York!! haha. thank you
Alway, it's a great place to eat. My wife loves to go her favorite is Walker St combo with two load hotdogs and Chilli and cheese on her fries.
Great experience here. Kind and friendly employees! And Great food!
Love these chili dogs. They closed the one in Conroe Texas. So there are no more close to me. I can remember when yalls chili dogs were 25 cents. The one in Town & Country Mall.
Excellent food. Fast service. Polite staff
This was my first visit and it was great. The chili cheese dogs were really good. I definitely recommend adding cheese to your fries!
Food is okay. Your online orders are weird. How do we get chili cheese dogs? It's so unclear. There is one coney that says we can subtract chilli. But , you can hit the + or - buttons. "Please remove two chilli, no make it three" description doesn't specify. Just says comes with cheese and onions. Is a Coney a chilli dog? That would kind of make sense. Still weird.
Best chili cheese dogs in town, hands down.
Really fast service and the staff was friendly, the food is still really good, im just not sure about the shredded cheese on the chili dogs now.
Walker Street Combo with Chilli Cheese Fries and a Sweet Tea
Weekly lunch spot for me. Employees are great, food is always good. If they would play some classic rock or something in the dining room this place would be perfect. 😁
My husband has been trying to get me to eat here forever. I have to say the hot dogs were better than any I have ever eaten. Everything was fresh and tasty. The employees were nice and there was a lady continously cleaning the dinning room. I was impressed and will be back.
I've been going to James Coney Island since I was a kid and I've always enjoyed their coney's. The price is a little more than I'd like but to me well worth it for the food. I've always done the coney with chili and cheese, not to extravagant but oh so delicious. The sliders are very good as well. Tots with cheese also can't go wrong. If you've never tried JCI I definitely recommend giving it a shot, you won't be disappointed. Update 7/8/23 - seems they are getting skimpy on their cheese, and the price you pay extra for the cheese is not getting cheaper... hope this improves.
Good fresh food. Friendly staff. They often forget my kids free ice cream with the meal but I guess you have to ask. Prices are a little high but the quality is there to match it. You get what you pay for and they make sure everything is well made. Obsessed with the cheese fries and apple bites.
Some of the friendliest staff at a fast food restaurant around. Lightning quick service and yummy food to boot. These guys rock!
We got JCI to bring back to Austin.Late at night, they were delicious. The staff were courteous, friendly and obviously took pride in what they do. Next time we will make time to eat in the restaurant.
Iconic Hot Dog Restaurant! One of my favorites. The Chili is to die for!
I love me some JCI baby! This place did not miss. If you love good old fashion chili cheese dogs this is the spot. The JCI punch is also delicious.
Just like the original, which was downtown behind Foley's, a great place to get a chili-cheese hot dog and fries. Friendly staff and the great original dogs!
Delicious little quick stop or you can get some authentic hot dogs and hamburgers, from the Nolan Ryan ranches. I'm a huge fan of Chicago dogs so of course I had to get that meal! And when given a choice between fries and tater tots, who doesn't choose tater tots!
Super nice people inside, no matter what hour it may be. They will help out with any requests 😀 even if you forget your ice cream, and they will remind you.
Fresh and hot like always! Normally, get tots but I got fries this time...won't do that again! Chili cheese tots are the best! Also, tried the Frito pie, wish I would have ate it while the chips were crispy instead of soggy! Everything was great definitely better than that Weinerstitzl (however you spell it) place! 🤣🤣 Update: Stopped here today because I had a taste for JC. Irritated because I paid extra for large fries with chili and cheese and I get about 10 fries! Even the chili dogs look like they're getting smaller! Smh...look at the fries in the first pic versus the second. I asked the guy in the drive thru was that a large and he said yes! I just shook my head and left! You've got to do better JC!
I don't usually write reviews but the staff treated us so good today! They truly deserve some praise. And I wasn't actually going to comment on the food but grandma literally just said to me that coney island has the best dogs in all of Texas!! Thank you 😊
This place is awesome! The staff was super kind and the food was great. Look everyone we don't have many of these left. Let's support and keep them open. Best chilli dogs! Wife and I had a great time! 10/10
My first time going to JCI, I wanted a chili dog, I had heard this place was good. I'll forever be their customer and their spokesman. I had the footlong chili dog? Chili cheese tots and the punch for a drink. Just the dog alone filled me up, but I ate it all. My impression of the place was that it was clean, the staff were helpful, the food was great and not overpriced. All reasons for me to come back. I'm always hungry anyways. Next time I'll try the sliders or maybe a hotdog with sauerkraut or maybe just a Frito pie.
Finally got a taste of the tantalizing, fruit smelling, beautifully rich bold colored maroon goodness. I'm describing the DELAWARE PUNCH aka Coney Punch! Its is delicious! Service was great! Food was good...I wasnt impressed by the chilli sold by itself.
Hot dogs were good. A little pricey than Coney Island lol. Ny people know. Never went here glad I did. I'll try other items on menu like the cheese steak and burgers. It was clean by the way.
Been going here for many years and is always a good dog to enjoy. Fries are pretty good too. they make them fresh
I love their chili - but NO beans! Is it just me or are the hot dog buns not the same? Used to be a steamed bun. Delaware punch is mandatory. They aren't that busy. Makes me afraid that they won't be able to stay. BTW please give up the JCI Grill and go back to doing what you do best as James Coney Island.
We got our food quickly so it was definitely still hot and the employees were friendly. I feel that everything was a little too greasy for my liking though. Everything was good, but didn't live up to my full expectations. Overall it was good, but not great. 7/10 would go again.
Very friendly staff, good food. Not many people though, could of just been a slow time of day.
Love going here for their original coney hotdog 🌭 sale, but the thing is. I'm signed up and suppose to be getting email notifications from them stating when their have these sales. But I don't get them, other family members do and they tell me when it's happening. Without the sales, buying for more then one person can get costly. Anyways beyond that, I need to break out and start getting something else from their menu. The only other item I've ever bought from them is their juicy Lucy burger 🍔 it has cheese in the center of the patty. It's really good, but you have to wait a good minute for it to be ready.
James Coney Island Grill . . . . . Was once a place where I used to live. My daughter and I had lunch today. It bought back so many memories. We would stop in for lunch on a long day of shopping. After work or just hanging out with relatives. Now, I pop in once in a while to kill the hunger. But it still good!
I don't mind the line to order. I just hate being rushed through my order. There was no one ahead of or behind us, so there was no reason to rush us. It'd been years since we've been and we weren't familiar with the menu and combos. All I wanted was a chili dog, a corn dog, tots and a drink. But there's no such combo, so I had to order the corn dog separately. The food was good, except for the tots. They'd obviously been refried because they had that previously cooked consistency and retained a lot of grease. Fresh tots would've gotten you 5 stars on the food. I don't know if anything can get 5 stars on service unless your employees are retrained to have a minute of patience. The decor was cute though.
I went in to get a gift card. Figured I'd get lunch since it was decently busy. Food was bland (even "all the way".) There was one cashier working both drive through and dine cash and she was hustling.
I drove up to this 1960 at I-45 location which I understand is open late I arrived there around 9:50pm. I have a picture of my Receipt showing I ordered six coneys with chili onions and cheese what I got was some really old dried up chili as well as microwaved tough buns not acceptable for the price I paid nearly $16
First time that I visited this location was because of a delayed flight. Sadly, the Nolan Ryan sliders were not good. Probably because Nolan never threw a slider, I should of known better. The Chicago dogs weren't that good especially comparing them to Portillo's. The food was overpriced vs. the quality.
The staff is friendly and the food is fresh, hot, and good! The booth we sat at and highchair we used for our daughter were gross. I had to wipe it down with my wet wipes in my purse and I took the tray off the high chair and took it into the restroom to wash it in the sink that it was so bad. The restrooms could be cleaner too. I've only been twice but both times they were pretty messy. BUT like I said, I have only been twice so maybe it was busy that day? I might go back, only because my husband loves James Coney island and it's the closest one to us and of course men don't usually care about those issues.
They forgot half of my food and then asked did I check my bag. I'm pretty sure a footlong hotdog can't fit in a upright burger bag. When they found out where my food was, they gave it to a dine in customer who was sitting and eating my food. Overall, the food was good but the service, not so much.
Arrived for lunch. Not busy at 12:30p. Ordered the sliders, onion rings and strawberry shake. Shake was great. Took 15 minutes to get food at a slow time. Most of the sliders were excellent, one was so salty I couldn't eat it. Onion rings batter was gooey and not crispy. Price was above avg for a burger and rings... $15+. May return for another try. Will consider on next trip to Humble.
Ordered regular fries they brought out cheese fries. Ugh. Not to mention when regular fries came out order was smaller than they used to be. And tasted like they were fried In old grease. The hot dogs do not taste as good as James Coney used to be. Either the product is purchased from different vendors or product not made like they used to make them. Also the buns used to be steamed so when you got them they were real hot. Not anymore. Lucky to get a warm one. And this goes not on for the Humble location but a lot other one's
It seems they have changed hot dog brands. The taste is not nearly as good and they are much skinnier. We ordered our usual Chicago dogs and you couldn't even see the hit dog under the toppings. Guess I'm going to have to find a new place for my fix.
Consistently tasty Coney Island hot dogs in a variety of menu items, from classic to gourmet hot dogs. Big, crispy onion rings are yummy, but I sub ranch dip for their Blossom sauce, which I don’t like.
Its sad to see JCI fall off from my child hood. But $15 for 2 dogs, fries and a drink is insane by any metric. The dogs are always cooked good, buns soft, chili cheese is tasty and the Delaware punch is off the charts. Idk how my longer I can keep visiting this establishment due to nostalgia. The food prices aren't worth it anymore. I wish they sold the in house hot sauce, its the best watery pepper sauce you could ever eat imo. If you like hit sauce just cover your entire meal in this shit!
This is not the same James Coney Island of years past. First if all most the menu is considerably more varied. Yes you can still get those small steamed bun coneys. Yes they're still delicious with a little chilly and onion and cheese. However now you have a choice of hamburgers, cheese steaks, brats and a nice dairy dessert menu of milkshakes and ice cream etc. however the best part of the restaurant might be not the menu and certainly would not appreciate it if you go through the drive-through. It is inside where it looks like a classic 1950s style diner large, roomy and comfortable. It is a place where you may linger a while even after the meal. Unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed in all things not coneys. The brats was a bit salty and had almost a metallic taste. True I'm not a great fan of sauerkraut but the brats lack that snap and juiciness that you come to expect from a nicely grilled sausage. The cheesesteak was quite acceptable. Not to be confused from the Philadelphia version but still nice meaty choice. However be forewarned it is small but it is also cheap so get two if you think you really going to have it as a meal.
Freezer burnt buns ruined the Chili Dogs
Ordered Hungry Man, 2 chili cheese dogs and fries. Hot dogs weren't hot, not even warm. Chili not hot, barely warm. Weiner's were tough. This is not the James Coney Island I remember. Probably my last visit.
Mediocre. The regular coney is pretty sad. The nolan beef dogs are good. One of our ordered plates was wrong. Forgot onions and gave us tots instead of fries. The other was supposed to have chili & cheese - super stingy. Another couple came and returned their plate because it was cold. Service was slow. There appeared to be only 1 of 4 front people who seemed to be experienced. Other JCI sites are definitely better. Hoping it was merely isolated experience.
I've gone there a few times now and I wasn't impressed with the food. Back in the day the hot dogs were softer and good tasting. Now they're the same quality as cheap 99 cent Bar S hot dogs you can buy at any grocery store. Plus the the people behind the serving line are kinda rude. Today I ordered the 95 cent specials and found them to be a little hard. Plus the saucethey put in that I didn't order was salty. Next time I want a hot dog or coney I'll go to Sonic or make my own. At least I'll have dawgz the way I want them.
Cost cutting measures have shrunk the hot dogs, about half the size of a normal hot dog. Long John Silvers right across the street. Humm.
As cool as the place was, the hot dogs tasted like plastic and the fries tasted soggy and stale, even though one is ate was half raw. Will not be going back
Disappointed We travel 20+ miles to get a james coney island originals and could tell by looking at them that the chili was not the same. Confirmed when eating them. The chili was either a different recipe or brand or had been watered down or had something else added. Very little flavor. Also dogs and chili were warm We look forward to our few trips to jci but this visit was very disappointing.
I don't know who owns this franchise, but they seriously need to take some time and money into rebuilding and cleaning. The restrooms are disgusting, walls and tiles popping off everywhere. Pipes to the backs of the toilet are molded and gross. I was very uncomfortable even bringing my kids into it to wash their hands. We left and did not eat because of this. If that's how the restrooms look I don't want food from the kitchen.
I’ll be honest the service and the employees were very friends and up to standard however the reason why it’s getting a low review is because I got food poisoning from eating a hotdog and chili cheese fries this was the only thing I had ate.
I found a fingernail in my mouth after biting into my hotdog!!!!!! Story time: Bought 3 gourmet hot dogs to share with my husband cost me $20.. I drove 20 mins home, day down to enjoy my food while watching some TV... 3 BITES IN- I felt something hard in my mouth that didn't crunch. (Eating the Baja dog which has slices of fresh jalapenos that crunch) so I spit out the food to investigate. 🤢 In it I found a LONG CUT FINGERNAIL! 🤮 I took pictures then immediately called the Humble, TX location where I bought the hotdogs.. I spoke to the manager who insisted that there could not have been a fingernail in my food because they all wear gloves. 👀 So I had to drive 20 mins BACK to the location to SHOW him the fingernail.. where AGAIN he argued with me about the fingernail. Maintaining that "it couldn't be his nail because he doesn't have fingernails" ... "They don't have any girls working there" ... "He does all the prep with gloves" ... He finally agreed that it WAS IN FACT A FINGERNAIL.... But he has no idea how it got into the food. Even insinuating that it could have been mine (which I proceeded to show him both of my hands; nails intact) After a few minutes of him arguing me down and customers walking out... He agreed to remake the hotdog (Holding up his gloves hands to show how they wear gloves) Overall a TERRIBLE experience, I am 3 months pregnant & I just wanted to eat some good beef hotdogs with all the good toppings. I never expected to pull someone else's fingernail out of my mouth! I have also never had to argue with a man (let alone a MANAGER) in a restaurant or any service establishment before ! I do not believe my family will EVER visit this location again!!!! 🙅🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️ Horrible customer service... Needs a management revision ASAP!
I have been a frequent visitor to James coney’s and this is by far a shame. My wife and I paid $25 for two kid size meals. The fries were the same portion that you would feed your 5 year old kid. The hot dogs seemed to have gotten smaller put the price seemed to have gone up, ain’t that rich!!! Now I know why some of the locations are closed down. As a District Manager of a restaurant being cheap with your food but high on your prices is a recipe for disaster. I will not return to this restaurant and recommend to my colleagues not to waste their time and money.
Went Thursday 8/27 at Humble location. Waited in line over 30 minutes. Only one car in front of me. Asked to take my order. Then it was complete silence. Even my child said. Are they there still. After an awkward 5 minutes. I proceeded to tell my order again. The burgers were all the way. All veggies and cheese. No mayo mustard or ketchup. Waited over 10 minutes to receive order at the window. Got home to eat. The entire order was messed up. We had burgers. Meat and cheese only. The hotdogs were burned. Black on one side. They were inedible. And disgusting. The fries were bland and no salt. This was a huge disappointment. We eat at JCI when we are in Humble. But after tonight no more. Over 30 dollars spent for food that I would not feed my dog.
Traveling home we stopped here... Food was awful. None of it appeared to be remotely fresh like the dogs had been chilling in funky water awhile. The bread was a whole different game of uck. Would definitely not recommend.
Food was wet and weird. I asked for yellow mustard and given the default brown. Didn’t notice until I was already gone, then didn’t have the time to go back. People often do to go because of time constraints. They basically treated me like a nuisance the whole time. By the way, I am not hard to please. I have pretty low standards, honestly. Their food is not cheap, and with these levels of dankness, I have many other options...
1231/2021 Service was terrible, I asked for chili with lite onions and beans. I got my order with no beans and no onions. When I took my food back, the server said " you asked for chili" she contradicted what I said instead of being cordial. I told her I was not going to argue, she added the beans, no onions and got stale crackers. NEVER going back to this location
Ordered hungry man and 2 extra Chicago dogs. Couldn't understand anyone thru the dt speaker. Was asked to pull forward to the dumpster to await order. 20 min later staff walks out with previous customers order. Asks me "what you waiting for" uhm.. my order. No what you get. I tell her my order Ok wait here, it will be out. Just rudeness. This is the second JCI I've been to and the service at that location was bad too. Really should try to change training habits for employees.
Took a while waiting at counter to place my order today, February 4th; “Special 10 plain coneys for $10” I always review my receipts but with the rush of feeding my toddlers, I just wanted them to eat their lunch and go on with my other errands... Nevertheless, I was super upset and disappointed after reviewing my receipt this evening. The cashier overcharged charged me‼️ I was charged $32.39 for the 10 plain coneys, one small fry and two small drinks‼️ I definitely won’t be returning to JCI any time soon‼️
The very worst hotdog I have ever had. Took it off the bun, but the bun tasted like raw yeast. Finally ate topping only with a plastic spoon. Terrible. Must be in business for some "other" cash reason.🤔
We are here now still waiting for 2 adult meals and 1 kids meal after 30 minutes. I've been up to the counter twice to get our food. They have brought out 2 kids meals that were wrong. How hard is it to make a PLAIN hot dog?! They have 6 people behind the counter standing around talking. Yes it's new years day but they can't be that hungover at 5pm! And it's not busy in here or the drive thur. Food was mediocre at best. Used to be a fan of JCI but no more!
This is the absolute WORST James Coney Island I’ve ever been to .. I ordered 4 hot plan hot dogs for my kids. And they gave me 4 hot dogs filled with onions and chilli! I didn’t check my food until I got home it was so much onions on the HOT DOG it made me nauseous when I opened it. I’m so mad I got off work just to waste my money .I literally had to throw them in the trash. I called the manger and she said well can you bring the hot dogs back .. I live 30 mins away from this location so no I wasn’t going to drive all the back to bring some food back. I told her the hot dogs were in the trash and she said well just bring the receipt. She didn’t apologize or ask what can she do to help she was extremely rude. I don’t recommend this location to any one.
My wife and I had an appetite for a good ole JCI and visited JCI in Humble. Our experience at this JCI was not the same as traditional JCI around Houston. For starters service was a not up to par as we waited about 7 mins for our orders to be taken. We figured this was odd since we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time besides one drive thru customer. Our order was served hot, however, the chili and the cheese was not traditional JCI. The chili was of different taste and texture and the cheese was not the hot and melted that squirted out of the dispenser. Furthermore, the meat of the dog was not traditional JCI. If you are expecting traditional JCI taste and service this wasn't what we received at JCI in Humble on this day.
The burger meat tasted old and almost spoiled. I asked for no grilled onions on burger sliders got attitude when asked to remove. The workers there were not friendly or even a little friendly. talked to me like I they were doing me a favor by being there. did like the old fashioned look of the inside.
Food was cold, fries had no salt.
Food was alright, but either the speaker in the drive thru sucks or the old lady taking our order is hard of hearing. Not only did we have to repeat ourselves more than a couple times multiple times, but when we got our order, it was both wrong and missing an item. Took around 5-7 minutes for her to come back to the window even though the store SEEMINGLY wasn't all that busy. Glad the food was ok cause otherwise I'd probably never go to a JCI again
Horrible service. Ordered the roasted corn. $3.00 for a literal tablespoon, manager told the kid who served it, that no customer would pay for that. He ignored her. We also had to pull forward and wait 20 min. for 2 hot dogs and roasted corn. They forgot utensils and napkins. Sat and ate in the parking lot and saw three other customers bringing their food back in.. Bad day for service, no hospitality or respect.
This was my frist time hereThe chili is so nasty the fris no salt and the burger no taste it was a waste of money I'll never come back
Guy angrily yelled at the drive-thru speaker that patty melt didn't come as a meal. As a result, we drove off without ordering because someone shouldn't cook your food while mad.
I been coming here for years and it’s been a good while since I been back.. I came here and the 2 guys making the food was soooo disrespectful and very rush type of people. The only nice people that was there was the sweet girl running the front counter and jimmy
Tater tots were extremely over cooked to the point I couldn't eat them. The sandwich i ordered was not edible. Tasted horrible, bread was burnt, and it was not put together well.
Did not like it at all. It’s been a while since I have been there at least four years. I was in town and wanted to stop by and I was very disappointed. The hotdogs didn’t have a good flavor or the hamburgers and the ice cream tasted really old, I think it was the chocolate dip. Oh and the restrooms smelled like an old locker room , I had to cover up my nose the whole time, and I think there was Comet cleaner on the door knobs.
Terrible experience the Lady forgot the last part of the food twice someone need to be fired and removed it was some girl I the drive thought.
I've been here twice in a short time. I usually love JCI. chili cheese fries my favorite. Each time at this location, a disappointment. So, I'll stop coming to this location. Something was off about my fries. Usually when it is served, elsewhere, it is so hot you have to blow to cool off. When c c f are prepared as expected-- i gobble them down. Fries as if not cooked well. Should be hot, plus the chili and the cheese.
Terrible service. Got home and some food I paid for was not in the bag. Tried calling several times and they never answer the phone Also the food was terrible. Hot fog was rubbery and the chili was not the same Coneys chili We’ve eaten james coney island food for over 65 yrs and believe me it was awful
Concern regarding food quality at the James Coney Island in Humble, Texas. 1. Noticeably Smaller Hot Dog Bun. 2. Chili Quality and Appearance: The chili served on the hot dog appeared to be watered down. It lacked the usual thickness and flavor profile, and I was unable to detect much taste at all, which raises concerns about possible dilution. 3. Appearance of the Hot Dog (Wiener): The wiener itself had an unusual appearance. Were we served something other than an all beef hot dog? Staff were polite and clean restaurant.
We ordered 4 dogs and two chilis. We have been eating James Coney Island for 65 years. We only got 3 out of 4 dogs and the chili was horrible. We are true lovers of lConey’s until now. We tried calling every number they had couldn’t get anyone to answer. Also the service was pathetic.Could care less attitude about good service
The manager had the worst attitude with me just now. Whoever the man with all of the tattoos that took over the drive-thru after I ordered a plain beef hotdogs and tater-tots. The initial female told me that it was $5.40. I get to the window and this man was very rude saying that "it's going to be $5.40 without a bun, do I want a bun? Because there is nothing for free here..." changed the price to $7.56 for a plain hotdog and tater tots. It's fine, I won't be back. They obviously have miscommunication issues
Not really sure where to start with this review, No salads, no tater tots! Atleast 3 of the young workers had both EarPods in ear while working. Horrible customer service, Horrible attitude. Received horrible food after being asked to drive around so it wouldn’t mess up there “clock performance” Given incorrect order twice, then finally resulted to what’s shown below which is supposed to be a #1 walker st combo 20 mins of waiting resulted to a waste of time and $27 Beware of this location and the little rude young lady with the attitude.
