The atmosphere and generous service of the staff was absolutely amazing . I loved the tacos ! A huge plus is they are dog friendly so my fur baby got to enjoy a meal along with us !

We love this spot! Been here a few times, but after having moved to HB, we came again after July 4th. Fred's location is amazing, with great views of the beach from the upstairs patio. The food is delicious and service was very quick, especially considering how packed it was. Pricing is pretty reasonable and portions a just right. I had the Baha Fish tacos and my wife had the Calamari Strips. You gotta try the House Margarita Goblet, for sure! If you love great beach views and excellent Mexican food, Fred's is a must visit when you're in Huntington Beach!

Food was excellent, although only six pieces of calamari for $16 was a bit disappointing - the calamari, sauce and kale salad that came with it were good, but the portion didn't match the price. The shrimp was prepared perfectly in the Diablo Shrimp but if you are seeking spice, ask for the habanero salsa - THAT is spicy! Per those in our party, the enchiladas with carnitas and the ones with shredded chicken were delicious. The view is great from the patio, although you can request indoor seating or, if 21+, can sit at the bar.

If they have samples, watch out, you'll be hooked and left, figuring out how to decide on what to get because they tasted amazing, but everything on the menu looks amazing! server, Bri, really truly made the whole dining experience with my margarita remake and stronger recommendations 🙌 the bar staff actually cared about the drink feedback!

Love this place,food is always good,never had a problem with service,and the swordfish tacos are to die for! The views are too bad either. Parking in the building behind Fred's is free for 90 min.

Very generous portion size. Served best nachos ever with interesting pickled soury jalapeños. Chicken taco salad is delicious as well. Love all their food even the churros. Bottom line large dishes and excellent fresh dishes. Can do better in cleaning tables .

Very busy place but worth the thirty minute wait. The chips were freshly made and the carnitas tacos were delicious. The margarita on the rocks was not very good but will try something else next time. Service was fantastic!

My husband loved the fish tacos. My son and I each had bean and cheese burritos. They were good, but had too much cheese. It didnt seem overly busy, but our waitress did take a while between visits, even to bring our son's soda.

It can get very loud here in the evening, which is fun but bear that in mind if you are wanting conversation. Huge servings of food with very fresh ingredients. I had the Diablo shrimp and fresh guacamole. My wife had the chicken taco salad. Both were very good and a touch better than most Mexican style restaurants. The quality is also very good when you consider that this is a Beach front venue overlooking the Pacific coastal highway and views if the pier and the sunset

Really enjoyed the food, and the service was great. The only downside was that inside, there were no typical low top tables. Everything was high top tables or elevated, which is difficult for individuals with disabilities. So we had to sit on the outside patio. Even though the heaters were on, the wind was blowing pretty good, and it was cold. It kind of takes away from the experience. If it was more ADA friendly, I would have given it a full 5 stars.

Not bad... Great, no... But not bad at all. The service was a little slow, but good. The prices of the meals were a bit pricey, but you are by the beach and a tourist trap...So, that was a bit expected. But still a bit high for the amount and quality. The quirky ambiance was fun and inviting. Seating outside was nice with a beautiful ocean view. Will be a second trip, but so many other choices for great food, may not be for awhile. Will update once we visit again.

So this is my review of this place. 1. Service 7/10 (she forgot twice our drinks and utensils when we got our food. But she had a good smile and tried hard) 2. Decoration 8/10 (nice place typical from Huntington Beach) 3. Food 9/10 (so the food and drinks are very good and very tasty 😋) 4. Cleanest 7/10 ( the restroom where okay but could be better. The service was good. The food was tasteless. The steak in the fajitas literally had no flavor. Margaritas were good but way too expensive. I went in the ladies restroom it was a mess. Paper towels on the floor. Of course the stall i went in had no TP. I told the young man at the host stand. He said ok but I know he didn't care or tell anyone because he just sat there. We were very disappointed because Fred's used to be 1 of our favorite Cali restaurants

I've been here a few times during my visits to Huntington Beach, and it's a great place to relax and enjoy the ocean view. The balcony adds a nice, romantic vibe, and perfect for catching up with friends. The food is decent—an American take on Mexican cuisine. It's not the most authentic, but still tasty enough to enjoy. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but the beachside location makes it worth it for a nice meal.
