Four Sea Restaurant is a popular spot in Irvine for Taiwanese breakfast, especially the soy milk, green onion pancakes, and radish cakes. Some find it overpriced and the service inconsistent, with long wait times during busy periods.
Tip: Order from the touchscreen kiosk to potentially speed up the process. Be prepared for a wait, especially on weekend mornings.

This was my second visit, and I will definitely be coming back again. The food is delicious, the service is fast, and the prices are very reasonable. The Highlights: • Turnip Cake (Radish Cake): Absolutely delicious! The exterior is perfectly crispy while the inside remains soft. • Salty Soy Milk: Very authentic with a nice curdled tofu texture. It pairs beautifully with the crispy Youtiao (fried dough stick). • Green Onion Scallion Bun (Hua Juan): Fantastic texture. The outside is slightly crisp, and the inner layers are soft and fluffy. • Rice Ball (Fan Tuan): Highly recommended. It has a true, authentic taste of Taiwan. • Egg Crepe (Dan Bing): Excellent on its own, though it felt a bit heavy when paired with the fried dough stick. The Drinks: • Winter Melon Tea: Decent and refreshing. • Soy Milk: It’s clear and easy to drink, though I personally prefer a thicker, richer consistency (like homemade). That said, it’s still a solid choice. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot for a satisfying breakfast. I look forward to my next visit!
The story of the Four Sea Restaurant founder is quite the adventure, from cooking for her family in China to moving to Taiwan then California, the food is authentic and comfort. They have a huge variety of classic Chinese and Taiwanese breakfast items at a fair price. There is plenty of indoor seating and the staff are friendly. Only complaint is that the food can come out a bit slow though.
This is your very typical no frills Taiwanese breakfast experience and you can be it's authentic. We generally order the cold sweet soy milk, the pan fried turnip cake and the salty rice roll whenever we come and it always hits the spot. The pan fried turnip cake is crispy on the outside as it should be, which many places don't get correct. The salty rice roll has a crispy (not soggy!) fried Chinese donut on the inside with some pork floss and it's so good! Lastly, you have to get the soy milk for the meal. This place has become a staple in our breakfast spot rotation and we'll always be back!
Solid Taiwan breakfast fare. I love coming here for salty soybean milk (though I wish they put more goodies inside), mantou, scallion pancakes, egg pancakes, radish cakes, rice rolls wth pork floss, and a variety of Taiwanese buns. The food quality doesn't come close to what you can get in Taiwan (obviously), but it certainly hits the spot when in the US. Service can be a bit slow sometimes, and maybe a bit gruff. The restaurant atmosphere is also very basic - like a cafeteria lacking in personality.
Some of this dishes I had like the Taro and radish cakes for average but if you're the type of person to like taro and radish cakes you could enjoy them. Ironically I really liked the sandwiches here which use some sort of sesame bun and added to the flavor. Though the food was decent, would I like most about this restaurant was learning of its story on one of the walls--which overall made the experience much more enjoyable!
Friendly staff. We ordered assorted items and they missed an egg crepe. We didn’t notice until we drove away. They gladly made our crepe and had it ready at the counter. There’s a touchscreen ordering kiosk to the corner, very easy to use. Service was quick. We went in with at least 10 people waiting in line and more waiting for their orders in the dining area. We still got our takeout order in a reasonable time. Cost is to the higher end but food quality is good. Small price to pay when you’re missing some traditional Taiwanese breakfast.
If you like Taiwanese breakfast and are in the area, come here! Of course Taiwan is better but this definitely scratches the itch. If you order from the machine it appears to go faster. I came early enough that there was no line.
It never fails to satisfy my craving for a good Chinese breakfast when I visit this restaurant! A must-try for dine-in or take-out. In my experience, the staff was very friendly and I received excellent service.
We’ve been coming to Four Sea for many years since moving to Irvine. We love it. The menu is the perfect size and each item comes out very fresh! We especially love the porridge and mushroom pork sticky rice!
Four Seas is your traditional Taiwanese breakfast. The best thing that I think is on the menu is the daikon radish pancake. It's savory, tender, and delicious! I tried the taro pancake but it wasn't as yummy, It was a little bit drier. I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be. However, I prefer the daikon one. Definitely add an egg and the garlic sauce from the table. It's a little bit pricey because it's one of the few places in the area that serve it, but it's worth it. We also got the soy and peanut combo milk (混將). Has the sweetness from the peanut milk thats thinned out with the soy. Get it hot, so delicious 🤤

Overall, we still enjoy this place. We come for the soy milk, green onion pancakes, the pudding, the pig ears, and a few other items. The English is very limited, but the workers work hard. You do have to wait for a table sometimes.

A casual spot known for Taiwanese‑style breakfast and brunch classics — think soy milk, rice rolls, buns, and fried pastries. Many visitors enjoy the traditional flavors and unique breakfast fare, but reviews are mixed overall, with some guests praising the authentic menu and others noting slow service or inconsistent quality.
Solid Taiwanese breakfast hot spot. Line may seem long but moves quick. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Must order dishes would be the fried taro cake with egg and the hot salty soy milk with the fried cruller. Everything else was mediocre - marinated beef sandwich, soup dumplings, and rice rolls.

Food is great. A bit busy weekend morning.
Tried a bunch of their breakfast items — some were great, some just okay. The congee and braised egg were super tasty and comforting, and I loved the peanut soy milk even though it was a bit sweet. The sticky rice ball and youtiao were too hard for my taste, but the egg pancake and buns were really good. Overall, a nice place for a traditional Chinese breakfast, just wish the texture of some items was softer.
I was excited to have a Taiwanese breakfast, something we can't get in Bakersfield, but I was disappointed. We arrived around 10 am, and after ordering at the counter, we waited over 35 minutes to get our first items, a steamed bun and the salty soy pudding (鹹豆花). The soy pudding was barely even room temperature - I would have expected it to be hot, as it is at most other places. That was very disappointing. I waited another 10 minutes to finally get the vegetarian rice roll (鹹飯糰), which thankfully came out hot, but I don't know why it took 45 minutes for that to be ready. I also ordered a hojicha soy milk, which didn't really have much of a hojicha flavor. All in all, I was pretty disappointed in the quality of the food and the very slow service.
Service is good. Food is average and outrageously overpriced! Won’t come back
Came here on a Wednesday morning at 7:30am, the restaurant pretty much empty. No service was involved since I walked up to the counter and just ordered and the cashier speaks into a microphone. Find any open seat with your number and they will bring the food to you. There weren't many clean table as they just finished their first round of customers and there were 5 to 6 tables with empty dishes. The 3 stars is mostly for the "savory soy milk soup" (dou jiang). There were no flavor of soy milk, more like 2/3 of the soup was water down. I did enjoy the egg pancake with shredded pork (dan bing) and pork bell buns.

Really $$$. But does scratch a craving for traditional Chinese/Taiwanese style breakfast items. Only can afford it if you have $. A fentuan or rice roll is $7. More expensive than McDonald hamburger.

Longing for experience some taiwanese/chinese breakfast itens, we went to this recommended (by friends) place. The disappointing feeling started to show up as the food we ordered took more than 40 minutes to come to our table (few places available). The service was chaotic, and the ambience sufferable. The food was ok, but overpriced. If you have little tme to spend in LA, don´t waste your time, unless you miss terribly taiwanese/chinese breakfast, and would die for it.

I placed an online order (through their restaurant website) for $80 worth of food to be delivered, which connected automatically to DoorDash, but received a message that the order was cancelled due to "high demand." I contacted DoorDash to ask them to confirm whether it was the driver or the restaurant that cancelled and they said it was the restaurant. Calling the restaurant as a primarily English speaker was an absolute nightmare. With what little Chinese I knew, I tried to explain to the employee that I never received my order and that I would like them to not charge my card. She kept insisting that it was DoorDash's responsibility to issue the refund, but my card was charged through FourSea's website. We went back and forth to no avail, and she kept speaking over me and finally told me that the manager would call me back. He never did. Nor does he speak English. I've been to the restaurant in person before and understand that certain times of day (especially over the weekend) can get super busy. The wait times are long, so I would recommend against online delivery, unless maybe you're using Fantuan directly or some other service where the driver usually speaks Chinese.
Why did it become so bad It was really hard to bite One is almost $9. I think that’s completely overpriced
⭐ 1 Star (deserves 0) This place truly deserves zero stars. The restaurant says it opens at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, so we went at 6:45 a.m. expecting breakfast. The order taker was rude and impatient, telling us the kitchen staff who prepares the food wasn’t even there yet — and that we’d need to wait 20–30 minutes. If you’re a breakfast restaurant, your staff should be ready when you open! We left disappointed, but decided to give them another chance on a different morning. Big mistake. The food portions were small, everything was overly salty, and the Chinese pancake was hard as a rock. The hot soy milk had all the sugar sitting at the bottom and wasn’t even mixed properly. Zero stars if I could — I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
What freaking bad service. I ordered soy milk, and they gave me the wrong one. I said, This isn’t regular soy milk. Can I get a refund? They said You can just get another one I don’t know how this machine work.
