Went this weekend and the location was very nice. It was up to date with latest tech, no cashiers, all done by tablet. Location was super clean and well maintained. Food was very good. In my opinion, it’s the best fast food franchise. The chili cheese fries, onion rings, and hamburgueses are my favorite here out of all the fast food franchises.

Steak ‘n Shake is making a comeback at this location. For years their stores were going downhill, dirty, dated, and expensive. This one is clean, modern, and no more slow ‘servers’. You just order your food on the touchpad and go get your drinks (self serve with a scan code) and they bring the food out. Overall it was fast, tasty, modern, and clean. The prices are actually better than expected since everything has gone up it’s in the range of going to Arby’s. Good food, good price, will be going back. If you’ve never been here it’s like Freddie’s but the burgers are delicious and the location is clean - they have malts but the ice cream selection is not as good.

I had not been to Steak n Shake in a looong time but I was in the area and I felt a little nostalgic. I can remember the days when it was 24 hours and you had servers with glass plates and great food. Walking in, it is definitely a different experience with the kiosks and the drink QR code. They have removed any and all personal interaction with a human being. At first, this was a little off-putting, but the place was really clean and they had a huge TV with football on, so I quickly got over it. Food came out quickly and it was amazing! So much better than In-and-Out and for less price. I will definitely come back and now I wish there was one closer to my work or my house.

Delicious! The fries are delicious, fried in beef tallow, golden and crispy. The steak burgers are savory and meaty, can’t go wrong with a double. Best burger I’ve had in a while, I was surprised.

Ordered Double Cheese Burger with Small Fries. One of the cleanest burger stores I visit. Fries are skinny and crispy, so it was okay. There’s oily feels in the throat after finishing the meal. Added veggies to make it healthy. Able to select any ingredient I want to include and exclude. Great service too.

If you haven't been to Steak 'n Shake lately...it's time. I hadn't been in quite a while, and wow. The place was sparklingly clean, very helpful staff, food came fast and was piping hot - and the fries were incredible - but so was the burger. And the shake I had after - oh my gosh. This place has undergone an incredible transformation. The prices are 2025-sane, comparatively speaking - and for 2025 an excellent value. No regrets.

Welcome to the twilight zone? I’ve grown up with Steak and Shake, and I’ve always understood it to be the “grungy” option you get in a roadtrip while in a hotel. A guilty pleasure sort of thing. Well not this place. I don’t know if this is part of a rebrand or somebody here just knows what they’re doing. The interior is clean, has cool vibes, and the food is actually really good? If you haven’t tried steak and shake for a while, might be time to try this location and see what’s changed.

I stopped by to have lunch after 3 years. The menu has changed for the better Using beef tallow for their fries makes them so much better. The dining area was very clean and our order came to us within 10 minutes after ordering. The ordering kiosks are a little antisocial so I had very little interaction with the staff. Besides that, my experience was great!

Crazy that I am even writing this review. Best, absolutely, the best burger I have had in a long time! I did not get the fries but will next time! I paid with Bitcoin and was happy to do so. Had some in my cash app account. They have changed ever thing for the better. The bathroom was clean, people were friendly and food was hot. Anyways, I choose this over McDonalds !

I have not eaten at Steak ’n Shake in Irving for several years, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect coming back. I decided to give it another try, and I am so glad I did. I ordered takeout through the app for my family, and the whole experience from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. The ordering process through the app was smooth, quick, and easy — everything worked exactly as it should, and I appreciated how clear and accurate the menu and options were. By the time I arrived, my order was ready exactly when promised, the staff was friendly, and the pickup process was fast and efficient. When I got everything home and opened the bags, I could immediately tell the food was fresh and made right. The fries were perfectly cooked — hot, crispy, golden, and seasoned just right. They were the kind of fries you actually get excited about eating and sharing. The burgers were outstanding — juicy, flavorful, well-prepared, and exactly the way a Steak ’n Shake burger is supposed to be. Every bite was delicious, and it reminded me of why I used to enjoy coming here years ago. And of course, the shakes were exactly what you want them to be: thick, creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. Each shake was made right and tasted amazing, and the family loved them. Everything about this visit left me completely satisfied. The food was excellent, the service was fast, the order was handled correctly, and the quality was consistent across the board. It really felt like the restaurant cared about getting it right, and they delivered in every single category. My family was happy, I was happy, and I left with the impression that Steak ’n Shake in Irving is absolutely worth coming back to. This was one of those rare times where every single part of the experience lived up to expectations and even went beyond them. From the ease of ordering in the app, to the speed and friendliness of the service, to the taste and quality of the food, everything was spot on. Always fresh! The fries are perfectly cooked and the perfect size! The patties are smashed and grilled style, seasoned and actually have flavor. I’ve gotten used to placing my own order on the kiosks now and using the QR code at the soda fountain lol. Nonetheless, a tasty burger.

I only go through the drive thru so I don’t know quality as a patron inside. But each time I come here I get the garlic double steak burger with a side of their garlic sauce. I also get their fry seasoning. It is such an amazing and delectable experience. The depth of the butter and garlic makes it worth the far drive from me. Top fav burgers around. Cost was $7.17 for the burger alone with the extra side of garlic burger. A great price!

Great place and great location! It is clean. Also, you have little to no communication with employees. We walked in and ordered at the kiosk screens. There is no one taking orders which is really good. They have lots of kiosk screens to take orders. You can pay by card or cash. Once you order, grab your receipt, and sit anywhere. We ordered chili 5-way, chili deluxe, large french fries, cookie dough milk shake, and 2 drinks. You will need to make your own drinks. For the rest of the food and milkshakes, they call you on the intercom to grab your order. Everything was really good. The last time we ate at a Steak 'n Shake was in 2004 in Georgia. The food and milk shake is still good as how we remembered. The only thing is I wish they put more spaghetti noodles because it was good and I had more chili left. If you want little interaction with workers, this is the place to go. We actually liked it. We will be back again.

This would be a great place to go with friends. I feel like it should have an older 50s design and vibe. Going in solo feels a bit weird. The food is OK as any other burger joint so if people don't cone for the food they come for the atmosphere but it falls a bit short in both. Staff are great though.

I went through the drive-thru, so I didn't get to experience the inside of the store. I ordered a cheeseburger and a shake. The burger and fries were solid—not the world’s greatest, but decent overall. However, as always, Steak and Shake’s shakes were amazing! The service was pretty good, though the gentleman who rang me up at the window seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. In fact, he was in such a rush that I thought they might be closing soon, but I noticed they still had almost an hour before closing. That said, I don’t mind quick service—it is fast food, after all. Overall, it’s a great place with decent food for the price!

First time at Steak n' Shake, while on vacation. As soon as me and my family got in and placed our order, the card kept declining even though it was still good. Turns out, the machine was broken, so we had to use another one. There was trash on the seats, but overall a decently clean inside and outside. The shakes were good, and the chicken tenders were AWESOME! Though, it was kind of expensive. We didnt have much experience with the staff, but the one guy that gave us our food was kind and tried to help with the whole credit card thing. Overall, I would recommend coming here if you want some tenders and shakes!

Food is wonderful! Love the variety of milkshakes and how they're created. Customer services and went down considerably at all locations just as wait times. There's really nothing to compare the prices to as they are unique, but don't expect the typical drive up fast food burger prices...they're a little higher. Oftentimes coupons come in the summer and sometimes they'll except even if expired (check with staff before assuming)

The food here was great, but the service was terrible. The bun was cold, and the staff were very rude. You can only refill your drink twice, as they lock the soda machine, requiring a code for refills. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service, they told me I could go somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend this place, not in a thousand years. However, it's possible that not all Steak ‘n Shake locations are like this, so I suggest trying a different one. The environment of the restaurant is not that great either and very uncomfortable seating a set for the two booths next to the bathroom .

5 years since I last ate at a Steak 'n Shake, and wow! ... what a difference! No counter service... (and I DID NOT come here to take computer lessons!). The burgers tasted good, but overpriced for the portions. Some items on their past menu's are no longer available. The chili was nothing but baked beans in red sauce. Very much a downsized operation. I won't go into any more detail, but I wanted to try this place again... and probably for the last time.

Steak N Shake over 10 years ago was the budget burger place but it is no longer. $7 for a small burger that's just cheese and meat, $11 as a combo is outrageous. Thankfully, it still taste like it used to, but still as small. This location in particular has you scan a QR code to unlock the soda machine, a different code for each drink order which is both a bother and takes forever for multiple people to use the machine. I also ordered to go in the lobby and the employees didn't call out my number, so I had been waiting for 20 minutes with my order sitting, getting cold for who knows how long. TL;Dr still tastes the same, but worse pricing and service.

The restaurant was really clean. They flattened the burger so much that it fell apart as I tried to eat it (not in a good way) and the lettuce was this tiny piece that covered half of the burger. I will not be returning to this location.

It left a LOT to be desired compared to the old Steak and Shake from back when. Now it’s all counter serve with kiosks to order. Food wasn’t very good, and it was way overpriced. No thanks.

We were excited to try steak and shake because it was somewhere we've never eaten before and with the name, the shake got to be good.... right? Well I have to say that not only were we super disappointed, but it was just outright bad. When we got there we noticed that there was no other traffic there even though every place around them was packed. That should have been our first sign but we decided to give them a try anyway. The burgers were edible but way over cooked because they smash them paper thin then the cook walked away and let them burn. The shakes though were the biggest disappointment. With shakes in the band you'd think that they would be good or at least made from real ice cream. The large shake was filled about 3/4 of the way instead of a full cup and it tasted like some cheap strawberry syrup mixed in a cheap super soft serve. It was not even close to edible. We each tried ours and threw them out. I definitely don't recommend eating here for anyone. Gave 2 stars because it's a nice day out and they had benches to sit on and enjoy the weather.

Another reason place trying to cut corners by firing human workers and using kiosks to place orders. The kiosks were not working properly and the human worker had to come and put in three consecutive orders thus defeating the purpose. Then I tried to get a drink and you have to scan a code just to get a drink. The scanner does not work well at all so it is hard to even get a drink. Oh yeah and all of this has done absolutely nothing to reduce the cost of food. So you just made it more difficult for your employees AND customers.

Worst service I've seen in a long time. The night service was awfully slow and got our order wrong. The food quality is good if you don't mind waiting 45mins when you're the only table in the resturant. Resturant wasn't the cleanest either.

Not a fan of the kiosk crap. We ordered our food through it because that was LITERALLY OUR ONLY CHOICE. Then the fountain machine now needs a barcode. Like what? This step is needed why? We don't live near one, so we visit but like twice a year when we travel and make it a pit stop even if it is out of the way, but after these customer service changes, we will be looking into something different from now on. Within just a few years you have removed the personality of interacting with the customer. They may as well be nothing but robots at this point if you can't offer human interaction of any kind to me in the lobby 😕

Food is pretty good usually and there’s really not much customer service interaction since you order everything through the kiosk they have. I came in today and ask to speak to a manager and the people who were working the grill were being rude. The guy with the head set first told me “we have no manager” then said “he’ll be there for a moment” and THEN said “my manager asked if you have an appointment with him” whilst laughing. I felt uncomfortable at that point so I just awkwardly laughed. After waiting for what seemed like forever, the manager went to go grab a drink and walked past us. The guys working the grill were clearly laughing at us. I only asked to speak to a manager for positive feedback. Very disappointed.

I am extremely disappointed in this Steak n Shake. For the past couple of years, the majority of my to-go fries have been salt less. My order is either incorrect or the order takes too long. Today I went to use a gift card I received about 6months ago, but when I tried to use it I was told they switched over to new gift card styles and mine most likely got deactivated. The initial guy who took care of my order didn’t know what to do so he handed the card off to another guy to figure it out. When I was given that info I was fine and agreed I would figure out the card situation on my own and continued to pay with my own credit card. While waiting for the process, I noticed 2 guys playing around and using foul language behind the man taking care of my transaction. He handed me the bag of food after paying and told me to have a nice night. After driving away I noticed my fries didn’t have any salt, and later realized they forgot to give me my drink. I use to love this Steak n Shake location. The food quality was great, it always was delicious and the service was spectacular. Now my order is frequently messed up or tastes horrible. I will no longer return to this location.

Spent about 55 dollars for my techs in the shop to get lunch. One of my techs went to pick everything up and 2 of the 4 burgers were incorrect, we were missing a drink and a couple fries. He tried to let them know and they rushed him out the line telling him everything was there. They never gave him a receipt or a few seconds to even verify it. And when I called to ask what happened, calmly, might I add. Because I have no problem with people as long as they try and fix their mistake. I called, they put me on hold and hung up on me and proceeded to ignore my next phone call. So here I am.

This place served me one of the worst burgers I’ve ever had. Grease was dripping off the patties by the spoon full. It was a total wreck trying to eat it. Fries were cold and extremely bland. Soft drink dispenser produced nothing but carbonated water. Avoid this place at all cost - it is terrible.

The food is just not that good anymore at steak n shake. It was bland and that had to be some of the strongest onion I've ever eaten in my life. I remember when this was one of the top and fast food restaurants in america. It's a real shame.

Kind of bummed, I had a few other locations 2 years ago in the Dallas area, Today I got the Garlic Double, came out a bit raw.. service was good, but restrooms were dirty. a bit pricy for a fast food burger tbh.

After over a 40, yup that's right, 40 minute wait we got food that was cold, burnt and put together so sloppy. Just really sad considering what this place used to be. I guess In-N-Out burger will get our business.

Been here multiple times, they never get your order right… like ketchup only burger and you get mustard only. Or mustard only burger and you get it fully loaded. Never give ketchup with the fries. Multiple times now no straws for the drinks. Thus franchise owner sucks almost any other location will be better

This place is absolutely FILTHY!!! None of the cooks wear gloves. The main cook who was preparing our food was picking trash up off the floor, BLEW HIS NOISE, and then proceeded to add hamburger buns to the stove with his bare hands. He only then rushed to put gloves on after he saw I was taking pictures of him. I asked to speak with the manager and was met by a young Indian man with a horrible attitude by the name of DISHANT, who replied very smugly that he was in fact the owner. When I asked for his name he refused to give it to me and told me to go look at my receipt. When I informed him about the cook who was preparing our food he told us the only thing he could do was remake it or issue a refund. He didn’t care at all how our food was being prepared. I don’t know what the health code regulations are in India, but here in AMERICA we wash our hands and wear gloves before preparing people's food. If this is what they are doing in front of the customers imagine what they're doing to our food in the back. If you desire to get COVID, food poisoning, or any other type of disease this is the perfect place to catch it. I’m reporting this establishment to the health department first thing in the morning. DISGUSTING!

Food was average. It’s really the atmosphere and micromanagement practices they’re implementing. Your drinks have to be scanned to activate, there’s no one to take your order, the only employees are the ones in the kitchen. The kiosk takes your order and then has the audacity to ask for a tip. Not the old school food joint that it used to be. A sad state to see it transform from.

The staff was friendly and provided good customer service, but overall, Steak ’n Shake has really gone downhill. The menu is extremely limited now — only about four burger options — and many of the old favorites are gone. You have to order through a kiosk, so there’s no real interaction with anyone. If you’re looking for a better burger experience, I’d recommend going to Freddy’s or In-N-Out instead.

Terrible customer service. I threw out my receipt after I bought my food, and wasn’t aware of the ridiculous QR code drink system. After telling this to the employee, he was extremely rude and told me to go fish it out of the trash can and wouldn’t offer any other option. I would stay away from here. Also food was expensive for the quality. Only thing redeeming was the fries.

I love steak and shake but today was awful my food was very cold. It wasn't even under a heat lamp the cheese wasn't even melted and the fries was still. I wasted 7 dollars so I won't be back. If I want cold food I'll eat at subway. 😟

This is the second time I have ordered 4 Chilli Mac’s and was skimped on the portions. For the cost, I can’t believe that the portions are less than what I would feed my kid. Shame on this Steak N Shake this has never happened at any other location except this one!

Ordered Garlic Burger Meal w/Large fries, Iced Tea & a Shake. Shake was okay, as was the burger. Unfortunately my bag did not contain any fries and my drink was wrong. When I dumped out the contents of my drink black granules were present, leaving me wondering what was in the drink (Picture Attached). Will not be coming here ever again.

I have a severe peanut allergy. I asked for an Oreo cookies and cream shake. The top of the shake had Oreos on it, so I assumed I was good. Upon further ingestion, it was a peanut shake. Just peanuts and ice cream. This, this is not the first time my order at this location has been severely messed up.

I haven’t tried Steak ‘n Shake in forever and went for the first time and honestly I was disappointed. The bread was definitely old and the food alone didn’t have no taste to it .. fries were overly cooked and customer service wasn’t the best either

Let's start off by saying the food is good no doubt about that, but how about somw customer service to go along with it‼️ no manners, no thank you, no your welcome, slamming the drive though door, just RUDE all the way around. Their customer service suck so bad, this is their downfall

Workers were very rude. I ordered some shakes and one of them spilled in my car cuz the top wasn’t properly placed on. I went back to ask if they could remake it and the guy worker was being very rude about not wanting to remake it and accusing me of spilling the shake on purpose. I bought another one but while waiting he was laughing and making jokes very loudly about me with another worker in the back For just trying to have it remade. I understand if it’s policy that they can’t remake it but the interaction was very rude and making jokes about me was unnecessary.

Completely mangled the five way chili, serving me a big soupy mess. Staff, then wanted to argue with me about it when I literally told them to check their own picture on their own menu if they didn't understand how it was supposed to be done. Staff member kept trying to tell me that it ' was the chili' making the soup, Completely missing the point about how Cincinnati chili is made.

He told me I had to re-purchase the item to get it remade which is crazy. I ended up having dispute it with my bank. Next time I came in I ordered just a shake. The shake was a cookie dough shake, and Manager recognized me and it was just that rude. Like just no smile just like he was like oh it’s you the person who wanted their food the way they ordered it like they paid for the service here was just horrible and I can’t imagine somebody like that owning or managing a store being successful for a long period of time but the drink that I ordered, it was a milkshake. It didn’t even have the toppings in it. I basically got a vanilla milkshake, and I ordered a chocolate chip cookie dough on The only chocolate chip cookie dough that it was in this milkshake was sprinkled on top of the whip whipped cream on top of the shake for a place that is called steak and shake. Avoid this place at all cost. Our order was taken with attitude by a hispanic guy, he repeats our order and confirms it before we drive up to the window and when we got our order and drove off we seen that he got our order wrong . We backed up to the window and told him, and he said to park to the side so we did and we waited and was never brought out our onion rings that we were missing. We drove by and saw that they were mopping and cleaning from what it looked like to close early. Also when we got our order and asked for sauce and he wanted to charge us. The food was terrible, we didn't even get the burgers we paid for, the buns on the burger were like cardboard, The fries were stale as if it was sitting for a while. The food was 100% not worth the price. I promise you guys will be a lot more happier with Mc Donalds across the street, or even Whataburger or anything else in the plaza! Horrible service, and bad food. Never again.

I had placed an order online August 6, through their website (not DoorDash) and when the order was delivered, I was missing items. When I called the location and said I was missing items, they knew exactly what it was. So after that, they said they would refund me for the fully since it was their fault and that it would take 10 business days. I called them on August 27 hoping to take to the manager as I gave them my number, I have no received a call back about it. Their customer service isn’t the best. Yes I would go back but I would never do an online order. They took my money even though they knew they were in the wrong. This is probably the only way since I called again today (August 28) and no one has answered the call. So if I can have someone contact me, please contact me
