My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Royal Isabela (Nov. '25) and enjoyed delicious meals, friendly service, and totally secluded relaxation. The staff was exceptional. Jose made sure everything was up to par and Jeannette was very gracious and accommodating at the beautiful Jota restaurant. Our Casita was clean, comfortable and appointed with everything we needed to enjoy a comfortable stay. The plunge pool at the Casita was perfect for a quick dip or to enjoy a beverage while sitting by the pool's edge. The beach is very private, and if you take a stroll you will find spot to take a refreshing dip. The resort pool was well-maintained and great for a few laps. The surroundings are quite beautiful and tranquil. We look forward to our next stay at the magnificent Royal Isabela.

STUNNING! We stayed two nights to celebrate our anniversary, the grounds are impeccable, the service is outstanding. The food was great and the drinks were strong! We came during the off season so it was rather slow but they took very good care of us, the only complaint was that each time we tried to go to the grill, ither no one was there or the computer system was down so we were told no to ordering something even to bill to the room.

This place is beautiful, the views are gorgeous and breathtaking. Our server Pedro was amazing. So friendly and outgoing, very informative on food prep and recommendations and he was attentive to us. I’ve been on the island for 3 years and this food and service are the best I have had. Cooked with such savor and perfection. We only stood to eat and did not stay in a villa.

The most amazing experience i ever had so far in PR. The Views and the vibe of the places is so unique and breathtaking. Service is amazing, the employees go above and beyond for the client always no matter at what time you need them. Restaurant and bar area very unique, the bartender Lizbeth was so good to us that i have to say my goodbye before i go back home. We will definitely recommend this place and also we will be back. We need this sweet scape

I wanted to share the wonderful experience my group and I had at your establishment. This was our first time visiting Puerto Rico, and Jota came highly recommended by a friend, so it was at the top of our list of places to try. We called ahead to make a reservation for our larger group, and I must commend your hostess for being incredibly helpful and accommodating in setting that up for us. From the moment we arrived at the gate, we were thoroughly impressed. We were greeted by another wonderful employee, and the convenience of being picked up from the parking lot and taken directly to the restaurant entrance truly set a welcoming tone. At this point, we were already very happy with the exceptional service we had encountered from your staff. The true highlight of our evening was Pedro, who was the star of the night. He went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional dining experience. We were captivated by how beautifully the dishes were plated and how exquisitely the drinks were garnished. The ambiance of the room we were seated in was perfect, with great decor and ideal lighting. I've heard the view from Jota is stunning, but since it was dark when we arrived, I'll definitely be planning a return visit to experience it during sunset. As four members of our dining party work in the industry (two of which are GM’s) we can genuinely say that we recognize and appreciate when a team is dedicated to providing a top-tier experience. This is also a reflection of the great leadership. Pedro and all the staff we encountered worked together gracefully, embodying the true definition of hospitality. We highly recommend Jota to anyone visiting Puerto Rico; it is truly a gem.

Royal Isabela is one of the most breathtaking wedding venues and portrait locations in Puerto Rico. Perched on dramatic oceanfront cliffs along the island’s northwest coast, it offers some of the most cinematic backdrops I’ve ever photographed—from golden-hour beaches to panoramic bluff-top views. Whether it’s a romantic elopement, a surprise proposal, or an intimate wedding, every love story I’ve captured here has felt both luxurious and deeply connected to nature. The villas are perfect for getting ready portraits, and the grounds offer endless opportunities for stunning images. It’s peaceful, private, and full of natural magic. Sharing a few favorites from my time photographing at Royal Isabela!

What an absolutely amazing experience we just had at Royal Isabela. From the moment we drove until the moment we left, we felt at home and so welcomed. We ordered the romance package, and they over delivered. It was just beautiful. Everything is beautiful here actually, and the property is well kept. The staff is incredible and is there for you at times you don't expect it. Highly recommend an in-room massage, especially if you have an ocean room. We can't wait to be back again with friends. Also recommend leaving your children at home. While they are allowed, this property is clearly adult focused.

Hard to say anything but superlatives for this place. The view is better than the photos give credit. The food is absolutely outstanding at Jota and the casitas offer a perfect blend of seclusion and proximity. Just go.

This is an amazing relaxing small resort. The privacy and amenities of the casitas are great but they need a slight refresher (mostly wear and tear). Even with the slight ding for the age of the place, it's a perfect place from which to explore the west side of the island.

You don’t need to go outside the resort for activities. Jota restaurant recommend the smoke salmon, the wait is a bit long, make sure you don’t have an activity booked close to breakfast, lunch or dinner. The grill restaurant was good as well, they are sort of the fast food version and they close early. The casita are spacious, comfortable surrounded by lush greenery plants. Do recommend to stay at least 5 days.

We spent three nights in one of the casitas after spending a few nights in San Juan and had the best time! The way the casita is set up is such a dream come true for a couple looking to get away. The bed was so comfortable. They provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer, and plenty of towels. We had dinner at the restaurant, the food and service were great. The rest of the trip we ordered room service and food was always delicious and warm. The staff are so incredibly friendly and gave great recommendations for things to do nearby. We absolutely plan to come back to this little slice of paradise! We did have some trouble with water getting into the main bathroom area and trouble getting the tv to work but these were very minor issues that did not change how we felt about our stay. We came to enjoy a peaceful and private stay and they provided that!

This is probably one of the nicest resorts I’ve I’ve had the honor of staying. The vibe and ambience is top-notch. We stayed in room 11 which is at the top of a valley with a beautiful ocean view. We loved the privacy. It’s very windy in this spot because the wind comes up from the ocean. There are two restaurants on the property and they are fine. They were training servers while we were there and we definitely noticed long waits for food. The food was average but having room service delivered was the best. The golf course is beautiful, too, very challenging. I lost a lot of balls :-) it was not crowded while we were there, so it was nice playing a leisurely round no one behind me. I also highly recommend going to the beach. It’s about a half mile walk downhill and takes about 10 minutes. There is a beautiful cave filled with swallows and the water is bathtub warm. We never saw more than two people on the beach at a time. We went every day and it’s criminal if you don’t make at least one visit. We would definitely come back here again, but are hopeful that the restaurant service & food improves a little.

We absolutely loved our stay at Royal Isabela. Such an amazing part of our honeymoon! The staff was incredible and attentive and though the beach is not swimmable, it’s one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen and the walk there is lovely. Just a quick drive to downtown Isabela and some other great beaches. We can’t wait to come back!!

The Royal Isabela is ideal for couples seeking romance or anyone craving solitude with a view. Unfortunately I cannot give my opinion of the hotel as my visit was to the golf course. A course with spectacular views and great variations in all the holes. If you know how to manage your game I predict an excellent game. First class service in all its services.

Loved our stay at Royal Isabela with Family. Its a nice place to go with kids and relax. Staff was very friendly and helpful, you can even request a massage in your room. The views were nothing short of stunning. There is access to a private beach which was really stunning, the water was pristine. Gorgeous place. One downside was the restaurant jota the service was extremely slow and there very few vegan/vegetarian choices which made it difficult for us.

We did not stay in the hotel. We went to eat dinner with my family and friends. The hotel authority was kind enough to provide us a tour to the whole facility. It was amazing! Every villa has its own swimming pool. Location is perfect for real vacation. Excellent world class golf course. Step away from the beach. I really love the place.

We stayed at the Royal Isabela to celebrate a birthday, and it was incredible! The staff are excellent, the villas are stunning, and the restaurant was delicious. We also did surfing lessons and paddle boarding with Jorge, who was absolutely fantastic- professional, patient, and made both experiences so much fun. Highly recommend! This is such a special place and we can't wait to go back!

I had an incredible experience at Royal Isabella! From the moment we arrived, the stunning views took my breath away. The service was exceptional – the staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and memorable. The indoor pool and shower were fantastic, and we loved the opportunity to take a tour of the property. There are plenty of hiking options around, and we felt completely safe the entire time. Every person we interacted with was warm, friendly, and truly made us feel welcome. I can’t wait to visit again! Highly recommend this place!

A True Ecological Paradise – An Unforgettable Experience This is, without a doubt, the most incredible place we have ever visited. Having been to Puerto Rico five times and experienced multiple luxury properties, nothing compares to what we discovered in Isabela—this is a whole different level of excellence. From the moment we set foot on the property, we were immersed in an overwhelming ecological paradise. Every detail, from the stunning natural surroundings to the thoughtfully curated experiences, was exceptional. We had the privilege of eating fresh, ecologically clean food straight from their own garden—a rare and unforgettable experience. The level of hospitality was beyond luxury; we were treated like royalty, with a deep sense of respect and appreciation that made our stay truly special. What stood out the most was the love and care that radiated from the people and the place itself. There was an undeniable connection to nature, and it was clear that the community takes immense pride in preserving and honoring the environment. The wild beach near the property is breathtaking—its untouched beauty left us speechless. This place is simply magical. We will cherish this experience forever and cannot wait to return. P.S: we did not play golf and we are family of 3 with 7 years old kid from Massachusetts.

Beautiful location, ambience, dinner and drinks. Couldn't ask for more -- in fact going for Valentine's Day for dinner with friends. And -- if you're looking for royal treatment, ask for Christian. He was our waiter and was the best. This place is a hidden treasure and a definite keeper . Thank you!

This boutique hotel is a GEM! I was there for dinner, service was impeccable! Pedro was suburb, knew his menu & made great suggestions. The staff was spectacular from the moment I entered the gates. I highly recommend this boutique hotel; the grounds are absolutely gorgeous! I will definitely come back with friends & family & highly recommend you experience this incredible location. I am trying to convince my niece to get married here. Looking forward to my next visit!

Second time here over the last couple of years. Went here to spend some time with my wife for our anniversary and it was a good choice. Restaurant has definitely improved service menu, etc. The rooms are still very nice but in need of updating.

royal isabella! wow, stunning and unique property, excellent food! slow food service. my breakfast took 90 minutes, my lunch over an hour. service recovery for it was perfect. i didn’t even have to complain and they comped the meal. rooms are clean, cleaning crew was detail oriented! one thing i wish i knew ahead of time is you can’t swim in the ocean there! the beach is a little far away, but i loved the hike down to it! one thing that stood out was the pool was cloudy. i spent an afternoon there while my husband went fishing, and a GIANT iguana was swimming in the pool, then defecated all over in it. i then realized why it was cloudy. i called to report it so someone could come clean out the feces and hopefully shock the pool … but nobody came and i was there soaking up sun for about 4 hours. a family with children came to swim and also noticed all the poop in the water and got out. i don’t think the pool situation is safe. there was old poop all over in the bottom of the pool also. my only other complaint is that the sheets are really scratchy. i don’t think they use fabric softener on their linens. but the bed was comfortable. if you are an adventure seeker/ or busy body and need to venture out, the west side is a little boring, so staying at the resort is recommended. we stayed 3 days and i overall really liked it. but probably would have been good after 2 nights to venture on! if you are looking for a true relaxation vacation to get away from electronics and society, this would be a perfect place for you. not really a kid friendly place. stunning/ beautiful private beaches! overall i’m glad we went, it is a treasure. with a few tweaks this place could be a little more luxury, especially for the price! the staff is amazing, kind and helpful. we didn’t golf but the course looks amazing! i highly recommend this place for honeymooners or couples! very romantic!

This review is just for the golf course, not the hotel. From the moment you wind up the mountain to the clubhouse, you know you’re in for a treat. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the clubhouse radiates Puerto Rican charm, complete with outdoor seating and stunning views. The course offers exciting elevation changes, with the first hole plunging downhill and revealing a glimpse of the Atlantic. While the front nine has limited ocean views, the back nine shines—especially the unforgettable 17th hole. This signature hole demands a precise shot over a gorge, with the ocean looming left and long—breathtaking and nerve-wracking. Though the fairways and greens weren’t in top shape for the price, they rolled decently. The layout is challenging yet enjoyable, with wind adding extra complexity. The relaxed pace and standout hospitality, including Jose’s helpful guidance, make it a worthwhile experience. I’d play here again, hoping for improved conditions to match the premium fee.

This is a golf review. Design: A -great layout with a variety of holes that take advantage of the beautiful landscape. Truly a reason to play alone. It’s unique and unlike anything else you’ll play. Fairways: B -are in pretty good shape. A few bare spots and some burnt out areas but overall nice Greens: C- -probably the most disappointing aspect of the course. After reading some of the other reviews it’s looks like they are improving but there are a number of small weeds which impact the roll and a good number of the edges are burnt out. Doesn’t give you a true roll. Speed is okay. Overall this is what hurts the overall rating of the course. Bunkers: B -some may not like them as they are natural sand with some debris and there are no rakes. However the sand fits the course and it would be unfitting to have bleached white clear sand. The could be a little better manicured but overall I can’t complain. Rentals: C- -for a resort course with this price tag the club rentals were disappointing. They weren’t horrible but the were a mismatched set, and lacked a proper sand wedge Difficulty:10/10 -played with 20+mph winds. When you hit the back you’ll have a few holes that become immensely challenging with the wind. The shoddy greens did not help the score card. Some very challenging holes, with an overall tight layout with high natural grasses as boundaries, that if you push the ball, you’ll be lucky to find. Play smart golf and keep it straight. Overall: C+ Price was around $230 with tax, Rentals were $25. For this price you’d expect greens that are immaculate. They are far from that. I’ll say it did look like they were working towards that as there were a number of maintenance personnel on the course. Per other reviews they are under new management and are working to bring the course to what it truly should be. At the end of the day I am very happy that I played the course. I would recommend it to any golf fan based on design and location alone. It’s a truly beautiful course, that with some more time and money will be an A+ golfing location. Side note: the restaurant and food were great and I’d recommend a stop after your round.

Amazing views from the rooms of the ocean! The property is enormous, but we had tons of privacy with our patio and private pool. The beach had no amenities, no chairs or anything and it was down hundreds of steps so it wasn't extremely accessible. The website had some amenities and info listed that was not available when we were there. The restaurant staff was excellent, very nice and knowledgeable folks, and I really enjoyed speaking with Raul the security guard. It was nice to actually meet the folks who run the day to day.

We visit with family and friends to celebrate a birthday and the experience was unforgettable mainly because of our serve I believe Janet) Jannette ? The views was absolutely breathtaking. But she truly made it more specia. From her incredible cocktails to her deep knowledge of the menu, her service was outstanding. She was attentive, friendly and genuinely cared about our experience. I do have to be honest the wait time for our food was extremely long, and under normal circumstances we probably would have walked out. However, she handled the situation so we'll. She kept checking on us, staying positive and always with a smile she was sincerely apologetic the entire time. Her attitude and professionalism completely change our experience for us, We will definitely be back-and honestly it's because of her

If this is something that you are doing, strictly for the golf, definitely consider looking elsewhere as the greens were in horrible condition. I will attach a few photos to show you what I’m talking about. Overall, the location in the service that we had was great and everyone was very friendly. The views are undoubtedly beautiful, but the course really does need work for the price. It’s a little crazy. The greens were definitely all every single one of them in poor condition, the fairways were middle of the road acceptable but not great and the tea boxes were also in pretty rough shape several of them very compacted. It was super hard to tee up. Overall, the course was very challenging with mini blind shots. If you’re going to this place to stay in vacation and Golf is not your main focus then I would highly recommend it as it seems. It is a beautiful getaway. The food we had while we were there was great and the views and rooms appeared amazing. We were just visiting for golf.

I went to the Restaurant. Firstly, we had booked rsvp beforehand and when we got there no one knew about the reservation. Then they imposed a “brunch” menu despite us having asked 3 times before going if at the time we went we could order from regular menu and told yes. Then the service was horrible. Very disorganized, had to ask for the things like water multiple times. Horrible service. Having said that, the food was delicious and the view breathtaking. Service needs to improve ASAP

Property - 10 out of 10: absolutely stunning property. My wife and I travel a lot and we like to stay at a lot of nice 5 star rated properties. This was probably the largest property we’ve ever stayed at. Very exclusive and we barely saw any people unless we went to dinner. Great place to get away and relax. The rooms (Casitas) - 6 out of 10: the rooms had little plunge pools with some privacy but you really had to stand up to get a good view of the ocean. The casitas really need some maintenance. The plunge pools are poorly designed and the manual switch to turn the heat on didn’t work. Our choice was to have it heated all the time or cold all the time or call the front office every time to change the setting. The casitas lost power the for almost 24 hours but they were able to find a back up generator and have it shipped from San Juan same day. For the amount of money they charge for the rooms, I was a little disappointed. Amenities - 3 out of 10: They have a pool for the casitas but not really well maintained and no service at the pool so no one even really goes there. At least I didn’t ever see anyone go in there during my stay. They have a lap pool too but again, no service. No one was ever in the lap pool during my star. No proper gym or any other real amenities. Food - 8 out of 10: The food was actually Excellent and even had a good selection of options to choose from. The only reason I didn’t not give it a 10 is because the food was more expensive than most 5 star high end similar properties, even more than the 4 Seasons in Maui. They even charge for tap water. Every bill we got had a $5 charge for tap flat water even if we only drank a glass of water. Activities - 4 out of 10 - They had only a few activities to choose from which was a little disappointing. My wife and I chose to do an e-bike trail tour throughout the property that followed the old sugar cane plantation railroad rail line. This tour was very beautiful and it highlight how large and beautiful the property is and our guide was amazing. We also chose to do a beach day where they take you down to a secluded beach on the property with chairs and a cooler. It was a great relaxing couple of hours until we had to walk back because someone blocked the gate so our driver couldn’t get back to pick us up. We got ate up by bugs on the walk back and kind of took away from the relaxing day we had on the beach. The Staff: 10 out of 10 - I can’t say enough about how accommodating and attentive the staff were. I feel like the staff always went out of their way to make sure your stay was as pleasant and relaxing as possible. The value: 5 out of 10: If the property was not so beautiful, honestly I would give it a 3 out of 10. My wife and I have stayed a similar properties in the same high end category and half the cost. We were gonna give this property another visit in late October early November of this year and when compared to 2 very similar class properties we’ve stayed at before (Four Seasons in Maui and Casa Chameleon in Costa Rica), the cost per night was twice as much to stay at Royal Isabella. Look, don’t get me wrong, the property is beautiful but you ain’t the Four Seasons in Maui, and this is Puerto Rico not Hawaii. You’ll have some work to do before you can charge as much as the four season in Maui not twice as much. Would love to come back but definitely not at those rates. Just being honest. Overall - 6.5 stars out of 10: Royal Isabella can become one of the best places to stay in Puerto Rico but they have a lot of work to do to get there. It is a beautiful property with a lot of potential so I really hope they can tweak a few of the items mentioned above and reduce the cost per night to be more in line with similar class properties. You just can’t charge twice as much as similar class properties and expect to make it. And from the bottom of my heart, I really hope you can make it cause this location is truly magical.

Our family of eight—spanning three generations—stayed at Royal Isabela from June 27–30, 2025, to celebrate my father’s 81st birthday. We were drawn to the resort for its natural beauty and promises of luxurious seclusion, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. While the setting is undeniably stunning, the lack of safety, poor maintenance, inconsistent service, and a series of preventable issues made this an expensive and disappointing stay. What We Booked We reserved three nature-view casitas: one for my parents, one for my sister and her twin boys, and one for my husband, my adult son, and me. The layout of the casitas was comfortable and spacious, each with its own plunge pool and terrace surrounded by lush greenery. The views from the resort were genuinely breathtaking, and we did enjoy quiet family moments together, especially during the mornings and sunsets. Celebrating My Father’s Birthday We had hoped for a meaningful experience as we celebrated my father turning 81, but the resort made no acknowledgment of the occasion. No special touches, no gestures, and no effort to mark the celebration—something we would have expected from any luxury property. Service and Staff The hospitality team was generally kind and courteous—with special praise for Manuel, the bellperson, and Jael, our restaurant server. Both were consistently professional, attentive, and kind. Unfortunately, this level of service was not uniform. The check-in and check-out staff were notably cold and unhelpful. One manager couldn’t answer basic questions about room service pricing and had to consult others. Housekeeping was superficial at best—one example: a large bug remained by the tub in our casita for the entire stay, even after their visits. At check-out, the front desk agent couldn’t access our account because she didn’t have the computer password—a basic operational failure that left us standing around waiting. See below for details on Rooms, Nearby Activities, Safety, and Food and Drinks. All of these issues might sound small in isolation, but they are unacceptable at a property positioning itself as a luxury resort. And together, they made our stay feel exhausting and inconvenient. Overall Impression This resort is undergoing a management transition, which may explain some of the decline, but no efforts were made to compensate or apologize for the shortcomings, even after multiple complaints. At half the price, we might have been more forgiving. But at luxury rates, this was simply unacceptable. Royal Isabela is a resort with incredible potential—but it is not currently operating at the level it claims. The setting is sublime, but the experience is not. Until there are meaningful changes to staffing, training, maintenance, and guest care, we cannot recommend it—especially not for families, elderly guests, or anyone expecting a five-star experience.

Was expecting much better quality rooms and service. This was really a stretch for our budget and we were so excited but ultimately let down. The rooms are in pretty poor condition- cabinet doors with broken hinges, draws and doors that don’t open, wood rotted, v old furniture. The outdoor furniture and decking was so run down and worn. For a 5 start resort this should not be the case. I definitely had buyers remorse for the amount we spent. I wouldn’t spend the money again. Still upset about it to be honest.

Positives first - the Casita we had was great. One shower head didn't work but it didn't matter since there are three. The tub is deep, a huge win for my 6'1" husband. The plunge pool was lovely and we used it every day. The food is AMAZING, and the team members that support the resort are so friendly and helpful. The cons - they could really, really benefit from some advisement on organization and communication. At meals, food can take 45+ minutes to come out when there are only a couple other tables being served. Being told this would be great as we aren't used to it, or serve a small plaintain dish or something to show you are considerate of the wait. We asked to talk to someone about a tour and they said someone would be in touch after we checked in, but no one was. We were charged for the experience, just to learn someone had come to our Casita and the singular missed call I had one day (no voicemail) was for this. No one circled back, no one checked in further. They just charged us and refused to take any responsibility for lack of communication and confirmation. No email confirmation, no time confirmation. Nothing. We went about our day assuming it just wasn't available anymore. We booked a massage for our last morning for 9, having to check out by 11 and discussing with the front desk that we'd want to shower and eat after. 910, no one was there. I called the front desk with no response. At 915 they call saying the massage folks are stuck in the parking lot waiting for a cart guy to bring them around, no mention of when that would be so I stated we'd cancel given now we would be in a rush between setup, actual message, and us getting on our way. They were verbally upset and mentioned a cancellation fee but then waived it. Yet again, communication would have saved them. They could have called at 9 to alert us to a delay, but didn't. Overall, stay here for a great stay if you have no timetable and don't plan to do anything but enjoy the room and property. Then it will be perfect.

The amenities and views are breathtaking 😍 ✨️ gastronomy is very tasty but unfortunately the service received in the restaurant was one of the most unfortunate experiences ever experienced. Restaurant management must have a serious meeting with its staff and revamp the way they are handling the overall operations. Very disappointed specifically with the location it is.

This is an 800$ a night hotel and this is what i encounter: - first night the smoke alarm had no battery so it went off all night and there is no handyman overnight so it just kept going off all night. They didnt give us nothing for that, not even a free breakfast - the control of the tv never worked - one of the showerheads did not work At least the service personnel were great ( house keeping and restaurant) I think its too expensive and the upkeep is not the best. Not what you expect for the price.

We came today for the first time to eat at the restaurant with our family for Mother’s Day, we made a reservation for 6 people and arrived in two different cars around 6pm. We identified ourselves properly at the entrance but the security man at the main gate was extremely rude to us just because the car behind us didn’t identify themselves, which was not our fault. The man didn’t even gave us directions on were to park and another woman had to come and “make up for him” My husband even apologized to this man and he responded “no, no apologies!” with a high tone. Definitely not the best way to receive guests or customers. I had very high expectations of this place but unfortunately this event changed the whole atmosphere. Beautiful place but we’re not coming back again!!

The property at Royal Isabela is undeniably stunning, with breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere that feels like an escape from the everyday. Unfortunately, the service experience doesn’t match the setting. Despite its luxury price point, basic guest care leaves much to be desired. Staff interactions often come across as indifferent, and something as simple as a complimentary bottle of water isn’t provided, which feels petty for a resort of this caliber. Dining options are very limited, and the food—while decent—is steeply overpriced, which makes it hard to justify. Housekeeping also needs attention. Spider webs on the ceilings and heavy dust on the curtains make the rooms feel neglected. Opening and closing the drapes shouldn’t leave you needing a shower. If Royal Isabela wants to live up to its promise of luxury, significant improvements in hospitality and cleanliness are necessary. The setting may be five stars, but the guest experience doesn’t come close—especially when guests are paying a fortune to stay here.

Oh man… this was rough. I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but all was good until this afternoon — when we realized how little management actually cares about their guests. The area is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for disconnecting. But the big issue came up when we tried to book massages and were told there was no availability for Sunday. Since it was raining and there’s really nothing to do on the property when it rains, we found a local company that could come to us. The manager on duty, Lizbeth, refused to allow outside therapists — even though they have no spa and no availability themselves. We explained how important it was to us, but she chose to give us a hard time instead of helping. The situation became so frustrating that we ended up checking out early and finishing the rest of our trip elsewhere. To be clear, there is no on-site spa, even though it’s listed on Google. The food is good, but service is slow, so don’t come to the restaurant starving. The staff (aside from that manager) were all incredibly kind and tried their best — but leadership clearly needs a reminder of what hospitality means. Also, we did an e-bike excursion with Jan and that was sooooo much fun. Way more than we even thought! Highly recommend him as a guide, as well. Unless you’re here strictly for golf and don’t care much about guest experience, I’d skip this one.

I “do not” recommend the Royal Isabela. Upon our late evening check-in and long hour of air travel. We were not even offered water, which was obviously behind the Business Manager desk. Upon request, he apologized. He asked us what our plan was in visiting. We told him that we were interested in hosting my daughter wedding venue with approximately 200+ guest. The grounds look large enough and the scenic view looks beautiful. We requested a salad at the time, 9:07 pm. The salad arrived an hour late! Again, the apologize. We went to have breakfast and there were two other families already complaining about the food and service. No waiter! Finally after 45 minutes, someone came out with an attitude and said, the waiter called out! We waited over an hour for our eggs! The coffee was cold! The milk was ice cold! The service was so sloppy and slow! No coffee refills, absolutely no attention! When we returned back to our room the dirt dishes were sitting outside with bugs all over. They never pick up the dishes and left all the dirty glasses in the room! . They even left their cleaning supplies in the room! We called. Again, they were sorry. The blinds were broken, no gym, no amenities available whatsoever so ever! The said renovation was taking place! And, they’re were sorry! We gave them the benefit of the doubt, so we went back the next day for breakfast because their absolutely nothing in the room to snack on and their no shop available on the premises! You must leave the premises. We again waited an hour and 48 minutes for eggs!! Coffee cold, no bread, absolutely nothing. We asked why such a long wait because, we were the only guest at breakfast. We were told they had many deliveries!! So unacceptable! And in addition, he said that the chef was in a better mood, that’s why the presentation on the place was different! (They put the home fries in a side bowl). It was so bad, we were afraid to continue complain! It didn’t get better! We were supposed to check out by 11:00 am , but we waited over two hour to get our breakfast, my dish came out first and half hour later my daughter eggs came out! Unbelievable! And, we were afraid to complain. (You know why) Upon check out, they charge me an additional $100.00 dollars, plus tax plus hotel resort fee, because they were late in serving us! I had to paid the penalty! We expressed our disappointment, the unprofessional of the staff, the attitude thats so prevalent. I remind him, that our mission was to seek the hotel to host my daughter’s wedding. Just like the rest of the staff, it did not faze him whatsoever! He did not care nor showed any interest in rectifying or reporting the situation at hand. Again, all you kept hearing is “I’m sorry” That not acceptable! That’s the easy way out for them and making excuses! We traveled from New Jersey to stay at your resort and paid top dollars, which was supposed to offer top quality services and amenities! It did not!! I say to you now, sorry! I’m taking my business somewhere else! And I’m letting my entire business associates, family and friends know about you about your unprofessionalism, your irresponsible and disgusting behavior you displayed! You don’t care about your guests nor the way you run your resort! I do not recommend Your Resort! One can get better service from a motel and than your misleading disgraceful Resort!!

ALL HYPE, NO SUBSTANCE!!! Showed up, hostess was MIA for 5min. Finally was seated, waiter was scrolling on his phone in the table next to us. Someone was vacuuming the restaurant in the middle of the service. Waiter gave us the wrong menus & disappeared. My dad is still waiting for his beer. Their whole vibe is farm to table & locally sourced ingredients but their “catch of the day” was Salmon. I’m curious where do they fish Salmon in Puerto Rico. The waiter was serving a juice for the table next to us and grabbed the pineapple with his hands without washing them. Also the air conditioner was broken & fans were malfunctioning. For such an “upscale” place; the food and the service were VERY underwhelming. There’s waaaaay better places on the island. I SUGGEST SPENDING YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE.

I really wish I could give this 5 stars, even 3. 10 years ago yes!!! But wow this place has gone down hill. I will say the grounds and view are absolutely beautiful and doesn’t seem real it is so so so pretty!!!!. The rooms eeeeek! The restaurant service is very slow. The front desk woman is extremely rude. The fact I was double charged for everything is a nightmare right now. I would love to come back if this gets sorted out but until then I’m regretting taking this trip. Also the fridge leaks, floorboards are warped I kept stubbing my toe, doors don’t lock !!!!! Shower door was covered in soap scum, rooms need to upgrade their linens… just to name a few But brava to Juan, Raymond, Jose, and the bartenders. You all were so very helpful.

Worst vacation experience! We were so excited to book the Royal Isabella as it looked like a great place to relax and unwind, website shows a complete spa feel. We arrived to a woman in a sweatsuite in a dark office. She couldn’t find our room key for 30 minutes. We should’ve left then. For starters there’s no spa, and the yoga advertised on the website as happening “all around the property” also doesn’t exist. In fact there isn’t even a gym. There are absolutely no activities except an old tennis court. There are new owners who fired all experienced staff and no one has any idea about hospitality or service . The bar had nothing! No club soda, no bartenders that knew how to make anything. The only restaurant onsite was a disaster. They were out of “salad!” Meals were 1 star and service was like a day 1 training ground. No wine list! $800 per night and no luxuries whatsoever. The only high point was Siarah at the snack bar. She was so friendly and apologetic for the awful time we had. She’s the MVP of the property. Ordered room service - after 2 hours we cancelled it. Tried to get the bed made up for our son day 1- 1 hour delay. When calling to check the status the rude man in the office gave us an attitude and never an apology. If it weren’t 3 hours from San Juan we would’ve left day 1. Go to motel 6 for a better experience. Don’t let the old reviews sway you - that’s what convinced us to go and this is NOT the same place.

What a shame. Beautiful place but the staff is incredibly inept. We arrived and no one was to be found anywhere, we needed to fend for ourselves until we found someone in the reception behind a closed door. Unfortunately this person was curt and scolded us for having a car in the reception area (where else would we go? ). The rooms are truly spectacular but showing some age.The grounds are gorgeous. The golf is so-so, they do not maintain it properly and you will lose many balls as the field is unkempt and unmarked. Dinner was the worst. They are horribly understaffed and took 1.5 hours to deliver the food to the table. I say deliver because they didn't bother (or don't know how) to properly serve the food. One dish came 15 minutes before the others and there was no utensils etc. A complete and utter mess of an evening compounded by staff running around banging doors to add insult to injury. So sad because the property is truly special- but they need professional managers to run it.
