We eat at Palapa regularly. Wonderful seafood, and weekend breakfast is good too. It's a hidden gem. Freshly made tortillas while you wait and ditto orange juice. Good, friendly service. It's our favorite place, though we avoid the mariachis on Friday night.
The best breakfast burritos in IV! If you need some potato to settle your stomach (and you know why), this is the place for something hearty! As for lunch or dinner... It's been some time since I enjoyed their classic chicken taco but that was once a favorite as well!
I have been eating here for years. This is one of Santa Barbara's treasures. I really dig the aerial photo of of Isla Vista from 1969 painted on the wall. This place never gets old. Only in IV can you get good mexican cuisine at midnight...
Best Mexican restaurant at Isla Vista. Truly Mexican flavors and great customer service. Enjoyed their 100% Aguas frescas (not from concentrate) and their incredible juices of choice. I'm so happy my cousin's friend took us here. Will be visiting every time we come visit this side of California. 👍👍💪💪❤️
Super Cuca's is a staple for breakfast burritos and non breakfast burritos. Each location is unique, even if they have a shared menu. I'm glad I work close to one now and can appreciate them more.
Go for the burritos, you won't regret it. Definitely more filling and better deal ($10-14 for burrito)than freebirds. Love the salsa bar!
Their Burritos are nice size and very good. Tacos, nachos and enchiladas are delicious too. Agua frescas are great too on our nice sunny hot days.
I know IV isn't big but this is definitely a hidden gem that people underestimate! Best Mexican food in IV!!!!! Fairly authentic! This place really deserves more business than it gets! The prices aren't quite as ridiculous as the rest of IV, they're decent as far as value goes and the tastes is great! Definitely try some agua fresca, extremely good price; it is the one thing in IV that costs less than most places in LA ($/floz)!
At this point, I might as well have a portion of my check direct deposited to Cucas IV because I go to Cucas at least twice a week. They have the best Agua Frescas, my favorite one is the Passion Fruit Agua. They have amazing freshly sqeezed juices and their protien shake is made with dates. I order agua frescas for our office and have my co workers hooked! The cherry on top is the top notch customer service they provide! Always smiling and helpful. Thank you, you guys!!!
This review is for the breakfast burritos, my favorite. I usually ask for no pico de gallo as it can make my burrito soggy. I do not like the other things on the menu. Breakfast burrito is where it’s at. Long Live Super Cuca’s.
Employees are nice and passionate, burritos taste grate, and their agua frescas definitely made the meal more enjoyable!
Stopped by with my daughter, a UCSB alum, as we drove through SB. She had to swing by Super Cuca's to get her favorite breakfast burrito. We were curious about what she had lived on during her days here. We thoroughly enjoyed the Rancheros Breakfast Burrito - just delicious and quite filling. I'm glad they have good food for the students.
I've been coming to Super Cucas for over a decade, and they are the best burrito in Santa Barbara and one of the best California Carne Asada Burritos in the state. Their California Burrito is so good I've actually never gotten anything else on their menu. Always worth the pilgrimage when I am coming by on the 101. 10/10.
The food was very good for and it was very affordable. It’s probably the cheapest burrito I’ve seen in Santa Barbara. Muscular dude working gives great service. I would recommend!
Great Mexican food spot in IV! Tons of burrito selections make this the perfect place for breakfast burritos (any time of day 🙌). They also have a great selection of fresh squeezed juices and smoothies. Finally, the salsa bar has a great variety as well, including a deliciously spicy habañero salsa 👍 overall a great spot to enjoy a burrito and some healthy juice !
Great inexpensive Mexican place. They have fresh smoothies and juices. I love the Mamey Smoothie. Pretty rare smoothie to find in the U.S. outside of Los Angeles. Takes me back to time I spent in Mexico. I love the nachos and the veggie breakfast burritos! Best Mexican Place in Isla Vista.
Great Service and very Large Portions. I ordered the Enchiladas plate with green sauce and it was Delish. My Wifey ordered the Super Chicken burrito and Loved it. BabyGurl loves her plain quesadilla with a side of rice. The Horchata was Hella Bomb too. Blessings
The best authentic Mexican food restaurant in Isla Vista/Goleta. Fresh prepared food made to order with Vegan options. Super reasonable prices More than adequate parking and great service. The dishes in the picture or less than eight dollars.
Was craving for some Mexican food and found this place, which was open till 11 pm. I got a Californian Burrito and it was gigantic - big enough for two people. Tasted amazing too. Mmm
Really good food, good price for the amount of food that they serve, amazing service, good variety of salsas.
First time coming here. Came with my dad and my sister, We got a chorizo burrito and two protein burritos didn't take pictures since we were so hungry we just dive in hahaha. Everything was delicious as a Mexican it felt like I was eating my mom food ,Everything was well balanced good amount of everything, burritos they were huge but finished it all. Salsas really good and spicy. Now my sister has a place to come eat after class . Everything was delicious hahaha ,the cashier the girl was funny and friendly . Couldn't get a photo of the burritos but I got a photo of my drink Came here on Saturday of last week.
Huge portions and Big Super Burritos! Chicken is amazing, there asada and carnitas are also delicious! They have a great selection of veggie burritos too and try there agua frescas those are very fruity!
The best Super combo plate with pastor!

YUM. We stopped by Super Cuca's on New Years Eve morning before heading out of town and I'm so glad we did. The aqua fresca (cucumber mint) was soo tasty. The protein breakfast burrito was delicious! The staff provided excellent service and the atmosphere was friendly with great vibes. Def recommend!
I've gotten a few different burritos from here over time. The food is good and filling, and the staff is friendly. The burritos are decently sized for their prices. I have no complaints.
Best Breakfast Burrito in Santa Barbara! Lots to choose from, I go with the #8 or #12.

Super Cucas is an excellent establishment, having one of the best cost-to-value menus in the Isla Vista area, but it is a tad bit on the blander side. Overall, it definitely does deserve more traffic than it currently gets, as it’s far more empty than comparable restaurants in its vicinity
Way too expensive recently. The prices are out of control for Mexican food, nothing that college kids can afford on a regular basis. It’s a shame bc the food is great!
Great food, breakfast burritos and a frescas drinks!!!

They should update their hours as I drove over to find they were closed an hour earlier than posted. The food is decent and their portions are large. I go here because it is dependable and reasonably priced (at least for the burritos I get) but the overall quality and flavor are nothing to write home about. I guess, on one hand, there are a lot of places I have lived where the best mexican food in town would be worse than this. In terms of bang for your buck, Cuca's is pretty hard to beat.
Burritos are great but enchiladas are worse than mid. Upset tummy.
Two hard taco plate was a winner. The tacos are good sized and have a generous amount of fillings. They tasted great. The side of beans and rice with the meal was also very good. My dining partner had a burrito that was huge! This is a simple college taco joint. The service and dining area are nothing special. And it's in the heart of IV, so parking might be a challenge. But look past all of that and go for the food. I will return.
B-, maybe a low B+ overall. The plates need work (ex: the enchiladas and rice are kind of bland). But their burritos are still the best in IV. Their daily specials and budget menu are great for college kids. Their bathrooms are always super clean, regardless of the crowd. My mom always said, "if their bathroom is clean, that means their kitchen is clean."
By far the best breakfast burritos in IV. Tried the protein burrito for the first time and it was so good I came back to get another one later that same night. Kept me full for hours.

Been going here for a the last few weeks ordering a protein burrito, which is a good combination of price and value. But today was one of those days when the potatoes in a burrito were not fresh and not heated (probably yesterday's batch). The beef cuts were chewy and inedible. Not sure what happened with the food today. They probably tried to cut down their expenses at the end of the year, putting yesterdays leftovers into today's burrito. Not sure I am coming back after this.
Available vegan choices. Vegan burrito was good but not excellent. Saw some Hispanic people enjoying the food here so I assume it must be more authentic and possibly good for meat eaters
The place is clean and quiet with some Mexican background music. The clerk wasn't very amicable. The super burrito is indeed Big but full of mostly rice and beans. Not much proteins. Talking about the meat: the pastor had no taste and to be fair the entire burrito lacked spices. Adding lots of salsa from the salsa bar helped but even their salsas are mild and un enthusiastic. For the price, I am left unsatisfied.

Food is fine but overpriced, which is agiven for anything in IV. They constantly mix up orders though, so print out your receipt and keep it. They struggle to comprehend what's on it though so it may not help too much.
this was my go-to spot for nachos because the serving size was big and the price was affordable. however, they increased the price of their nachos by $3 which is now the same price range as their competitors. along with the price increase, the chips were stale and the flavor was underwhelming. for this reason i will be goin to the superior location going forward

Worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. 1 hour wait for food, terrible horchatas, received cold food, told we needed to wait another hour for the replacement burrito, refused refund, were told we should have expected their California Burrito to be cold ("it's a cold burrito"). We threw away almost everything we got. The BRC burrito tasted unsalted/bland/unseasoned (just wasn't good, but it wasn't sh*t so they have that going for them). Overall either terrible or unsatisfactory food/drink, terrible service time, terrible treatment of customers, terrible experience.
This might be the worst California burrito I've ever had. Literally, 90% soggy fries. Also, it's weird that this location uses different fries from the other Super Cuca's in town. Definitely the worst location. Don't waste your money here.
I asked for a super burrito as a quesarrito and I got charged for it but received a basic burrito. Also it was like 45% rice, 40% beans, and 15% meat. I would recommend you go to the original one in Santa Barbara
Worst Cali Burrito I've ever had in my life. 90% of it was just french fries and sour cream. There was barely a bite or 2 of meat. Stay away if you know what good Mexican food is
I wouldn't recommend this place. The first and last time I ate there, I got sick and had to rush to the toilet. The workers didn't appear to be the cleanest. I ordered the carne asada nachos and got some green salsa.
First time going here. Will def be my last. service was a bit rude but I would not care if the food was alright. I got the super nachos. I am not sure how you could make something so gross. It came out about 2 minutes after I ordered it. None of the cheese was melted at all which was the worst part, the entire thing was cold. its like they just threw all of the ingredients on room temp chips. There was barely any beans but a huge amount of Pico and drenched in sour cream. it was just so cold and unappetizing. I am not sure how this place is so popular with college students but based on this experience I would avoid it.
First time at this Super Cuca's. They didn't include any salsa and mislableded our burritos. I can deal with that I guess, but they were not very good. 75% rice... Put it this way and judge for youself, BTW I never review stuff... I took two bites, switched with my wife to try the one I ordered, took two more and wrote this. Gonna taste the same cold if I eat it at all.
The most terrible California burrito I’ve ever had. It was drier than the Sahara desert. Every bite felt like I was biting into a nature valley bar but the meat version. If you want a real California burrito, go to La Burrita in Berkeley

Absolutely ridiculous. My boyfriend had ordered a quesadilla, not a super quesadilla. I witnessed this as I was on the phone with him. The cashier asked flour or corn. He said flour. He asked what kind of meat, he didn’t originally want meat but decided yeah, okay, pastor. The guy rings him up and charges him over $15. Yeah my boyfriend should’ve said something at that point, but seriously. He asked for a quesadilla, not a SUPER quesadilla. There’s a $10 difference. Obviously meat should cost extra, but it certainly doesn’t cost $10. Especially considering if you order online it’s $1.99 more, again, not $10. If this was the only instance of them not listening/not caring/not making things correctly that’d be one thing, but it’s almost every time at this point. I’ve ordered extra cheese on the meat enchiladas at least a handful of times yet it’s never actually made with extra cheese, in fact it’s nearly cheeseless! Stopped ordering that altogether. The breakfast burrito has sour cream in only one end of the burrito. The chorizo isn’t great and the bacon bits are so huge and way too salty. The middle aged man that works there hardly cares to give good service or even listen so he can take down orders correctly so the cooks can make the food as ordered and paid for. I’m done. They’ve completely lost my business.
