Can't find another classic homey place in Ithaca. And you can't find one that will give you the portions for the price in Ithaca anymore. While others jack their prices sky high the royal Court trys to stay fair thankfully. And without skimping.

A very specific experience, a bit like time travel. The food makes it worth a visit if it's a style of food you enjoy. If you are allergic to hip trends and foodie fads but still seek a quality fresh hot meal, this is your jam. Most servers and patrons were decades older than us (one of the grams walked up to our table and touched my partners colorful hair without warning or permission but that was probably an isolated situation and it was friendly not hostile) but definitely enjoyed a good meal and would visit again. Classic family style American fare with a salad bar. The food was good and the server's recommendations were good. I have a feeling the adjacent bar crowd is probably younger than the seated dining area and we might try that in future. We will go back!

My review may be different from most only because I frequent it more than others. However, if you were to frequent it as much as I did then you would come to love it just as much as I do. I would rate the food at Royal Court the number one in dining. They're specials is undeniably the best food where you get the most bang for your buck. I recommend the gravy and mashed potatoes. And if you eat nothing else then they would stand alone. So if you were in town and you want a great hotel motel to stay in I suggest a Royal Court where you can get great food and a good place to stay.

Surprisingly fresh, delicious, and well prepared food, for a place that appears to be a simple hotel restaurant from the exterior. Strong cocktails, well prepared, and reasonably priced. Also, one of the last patios in Ithaca on which you can still smoke (seasonally, of course). Excellent Prime Rib on Saturdays. Closes too early, in my opinion.

Amazing. I had heard great things so we tried it on a Friday. I am always trying so hard to find a good fish fry in Ithaca. This is hands down the best fish fry in Ithaca. We will be back. The food is well priced as well and comes with salad bar.

Absolutely one of the best meals we have had in a long time! We were totally shocked! This place looks like you're walking straight back into the '80s. It was so iconic. Husband had the prime rib special and he said it was the best, and the fries were the most amazing fries he's ever had! I had their fried seafood platter which was huge! The fish was fresh and it wasn't greasy by any means. Portions are huge. Staff was amazing! Friendly is people we've met around town in a long time. Everybody was so accommodating. We will definitely be making this a regular spot.

After graduating in 2007, I visited Ithaca 17 years later. During this trip, I visited a place where I could truly experience the local atmosphere. The food was excellent in taste, portion size, price, and friendliness—nothing was lacking. The old-fashioned feel of the place made it even more charming, and the salad bar, though not extravagant, was more than sufficient with its variety of dressings and fresh ingredients. I definitely want to visit again next time.

Waitress was very knowledgeable and quick with our food, friendly too. The food was bountiful, could not eat it all but delicious!!! 1st 2 times I had pancakes and sausage last time eggs, home fries, rye toast, and sausages. Toast was right out of the toaster hot and buttered! I've never ate in any diner or restaurant that served the toast so quickly it was still hot. Fantastic. Can't wait to go for lunch soon.

The food was great. Service was awesome. Wait staff was very friendly! Nice salad bar with dinner which is hard to find in a restaurant these days. Restaurant was clean and organized. Lots of seating and a bar. It's a bit outdated but so worth a trip here. Had the prime rib for the Saturday special. Very reasonable. Will be back to try the fish fry! My son has had it and says it's very good. My daughter in law had rice as her side dish and said it was excellent also.

This is a great restaurant. The food here is fantastic. I had a fish, shrimp and scallop plate that was very very good. My wife had the Chicken Parmesan which she said was superb. The staff is friendly. The place is neat and clean and nicely decorated. One half of the restaurant is the dining room and the other half is a full bar. If you are ever in Ithaca NY, this is a restaurant that you must go to. Side Note: this restaurant is a separate building in the Meadow Court Inn parking lot. The Meadow Court Inn is 2-star motel not worth staying at. I don't know if these two facilities are related or not, but the Royal Court Restaurant is a great place to eat and there is free parking right in front of the restaurant.

If you're looking for a five star restaurant then this is not your place. If you are seeking a cozy little hideaway with friendly staff and reasonably priced good then definitely check this place out. The restaurant appears to have had little update since it first opened, rustic furniture and weeks paneling everywhere, add to the charm. You can just hang out at the bar for a drink or about over into the large dining room for a decent meal.

Our Red Hat group meets there weekly for breakfast. The owners and staff are wonderful to us and know us by names. We can linger and chat. We love it there. It's a local treasure.

Hidden gem of Ithaca. Yes, it's dated ambiance. But clean, pleasant and accommodating staff, good food at reasonable prices. It gets packed. Also has bar lounge.

This is the second time I stayed here. The last time I had the upgraded suite with a mini fridge and microwave which is a bigger room at a nicer building. This time I had the economy suite with only two full beds. The room is smaller with only the necessities. The building is not as nice and a bit noisier. There is only a normal TV with local channels compared to the Roku TV in the upgraded suite. However, if you only need a place to stay for a couple of nights, it's efficient. The price here is much better compared to other places. The other thing about the building is that WIFI is very weak in this part of the property compared to the upgraded suite.

Royal Court serves American cuisine in an environment trapped in the 70s which is just fine with me. Having stopped by for breakfast our last day in Ithaca, the courteous server who probably has been working there since the 70s tended to our every need with diligence and kindness. The prices for breakfast were very fair and although it took some time, the food was delicious. Hoping this place stays here for years to come and is not replaced with another Chick-fil-a or Starbucks.

Two adults ate an early evening meal here on a Tuesday in mid-August and enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is more diner than restaurant and that suites us just fine. The food was good, plentiful, and reasonably priced. The wait staff was extremely friendly. The salad bar that came with the meal was small but tasty. Cost was about $39 with tax less tip. Would come back again if we lived in the area.

I honestly wasn't expecting much because of the outdated interior... and exterior for that matter. But the food turned out to be really excellent. I had the Demonico steak and would choose it over Texas road house any time.My wife had the Chefs special which was shrimp, scallops, and hadock. She loved it. Thank you for a delightful suprise.

The restaurant could use some remodeling inside. The server was pleasant and a seasoned server at that. Very attentive. I had the Reuben sandwich on sourdough (they were out of rye) but I honestly found the sandwich to be much more enjoyable with the sourdough. My girlfriend had a chicken sandwiches and she didn't leave a crumb behind. We also had fried green beans which were delicious as well.

Fish Fry Friday! The atmosphere and service here are phenomenal! Friendly and polite wait staff. The salad bar is yummy with great selection of dressings that taste homemade. Could have some more options, like bacon crumbles. The fish was tasty! The Mac and cheese was alright. Overall a great place for fish fry!

What a great place to eat. It felt like I was back having dinner with my parents in the good old "family restaurants" era. Great food and wonderful service. The owner stopped at the tables making sure everybody was happy. A great experience and will stop again if I'm in town.

A couple weeks after what I would have rated a solid 4-star Friday night dinner experience in the dining room here (tasty food, decent value, fast & friendly service, fun, kitschy, vintage decor, happy, welcoming family crowd), we returned and decided to eat at a table in the bar area. We sat next to another empty table that was reserved. Everything started out as well as our first visit, with a rowdy, but friendly Friday night adult crowd of regulars growing at the bar. Shortly after we were served, the party at the reserved table arrived, clearly another trio of elderly regulars from the greetings & chat with the bar staff & peers seated at the bar. Being a motel bar, I wouldn't have guessed it all that unusual or discouraged to have non-regulars and out-of-towners eat in the bar, but we started to get weird glances, and one of the group at the reserved table began to repeatedly run her chair into the back of my partner's seat, harder and harder. From the sidelong looks and giggles, it was both deliberate and encouraged by the staff and other customers. Really made it an unpleasant experience - I'm sad to say our delight in having found a fun, economical place for dinner & drinks, as well as for visiting friends and family to stay and dine has been completely disappointed, and we won't be going back, much less recommending the motel or bar/restaurant to anyone else.

I wish I could tell you the food was great. I wish I could tell you the service was excellent. I wish I had a million dollars. None of those wishes came true for me on my visit Thursday in September. I stopped in wanting to try some of the local fare. I found the 1970s decor, while not intentionally retro, was very retro, but in a cool way. Loved the overstuffed chairs and booths. However on this visit the patrons we're mainly drinking at the bar and the bar tender seemed to be playing double roll of waitress and bar keep. I sat patiently at a booth in the bar area and waited for the bartender/waitress to be free from her current duties to to be even greeted. We made eye contact several times, only to get a cordial smile and nothing more. No acknowledgement that I was there or that someone, anyone would be with me soon. I sat for 32 minutes (yes I timed it) and nothing. No menu, no waitress, no hello. As a matter of fact I think the most acknowledgement I received was from one of the patrons s at the bar who nodded and said hello....I don't think this is a restaurant? I think it's a bar for locals who sometimes eat a burger there. I'm going to guess the reviews on the food are also from the same people who frequent the bar.
