We had fun at the Julian Beer Co. we ordered in the building to the left and ate in the extra seating area to the right. They have outdoor seating and a nice big front porch to sit at. We started with the Serrano Peppers and they were really tasty! The pizza was delicious as well as the pulled pork sandwich! So tender and cooked perfectly. They offer Gluten-free pizza crust, vegan mozzarella, vegan garlic bread, and modified salads are available as well. We tried the Pistol Whipped hazy IPA too! They have lots of different drink options. Free Wi-Fi, highchairs, and pet-friendly options too. Glad we stopped on our way through.
Excellent Food Best BBQ Ribs and Pizza is amazing. Worth every penny. A bit difficult to find seats if its a busy day but worth it all the way. Recommend 1000%
Margaritas Pizza was amazing! Kid friendly Watch out tho.. Anaconda sized rattlesnakes on the loose!
It's beer, wood-fired pizza and bbq. All excellent. Don't wait on the long line, scan their order menu app and get the very good food faster and easier. The stout was delicious! It appears that all the food is very good from the way it was being devoured. The atmosphere is just right for the food and drink. Outdoor picnic tables, indoor it's a beer hall so say hi to your friendly neighbors and enjoy.
Cold buns really ? No one wants cold buns bought from the grocery store. At least heat them up. Come on. Update. Brisket is not worth the money. Very dry.@ Idk why everything came out so fast for this to be really cold. Like it looks so good and tastes alright but it’s cold. This food should be hot. No one wants cold bbq and brisket. UPDATE 2: They refunded us. Thank you guys.
The JBC cheese-steak was the best thing I’ve ever had. I don’t do reviews but this cheese steak was so good I had to give Julian Beer Co a review. Delicious. The pizza and the pulled pork sandwich were delicious as well. I will be willing to drive 2 hours for this cheese steak. That’s how good it is and the customer service as well.
It's a great place for family, friends and even pets to get together and enjoy the great food and weather. With plenty of inside and outside seating. The menu has a little bit of everything, from Vegetarian options to Meat Lovers Fest. Oh don't don't forget the variety of Pizzaa d Drink options. It's been a Family Fav.
The best food in downtown Julian. Great atmosphere. Outstanding BBQ. The brisket sandwich was melt in your mouth delicious as was the succulent chicken accompanied by tasty pesto pasta salad and cole slaw. The smoked beef rib and pizzas also looked top notch so I'll have to come back. Decent beer selection. Premium price super premium product.
Stopped in with my girlfriend today and had lunch. First of all, I love the laid-back vibe of the restaurant. The food was great. The 1/2 lb beef brisket was fresh, juicy, and fell apart in my mouth. The flavor was on point. We were able to order Cesar salad wraps (off the menu), and those were just as great. Thank you for the friendly service and quick turnaround on our order. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.
We arrived at Julian closer to sunset, and this is one of the few places that was open late. We didn’t happen to try the food, but we did grab two beers and I must say they were pretty good. Better than I expected for a small town brewery. There’s also quite a selection to choose from. The ambience was great. Everybody’s energy and vibes were fantastic and there’s lots of room for big parties. Although I didn’t try the food, it smelled absolutely delicious. Next time I will be sure to try it out. Can’t wait to come back!
We've been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally did last time we were in Julian. Interesting idea, fuse BBQ and Pizza. Have to admit it was pretty tasty. Not the best pizza I've had but definitely worth trying it out. The seating situation is a bit odd. Large rooms with long cafeteria like tables. Kind of had to just push dishes aside to find a place to sit. Not ideal.
This place is always busy so be aware of the long lines and wait times. It takes about 30mins to an hour to get to the front. The pulled pork sandwich is really really good. The brisket is pretty good as well. The sausage wasn't bad as well. I would definitely consider coming back but the long lines are no fun!
What a fun little find! We stopped into Julian Beer Co. Brewery and Eatery after a local shop owner recommended it, and it definitely added to our adventure. This place has a cozy, small-town charm that makes you feel right at home. My husband and I shared the Classico Pizza and a 1/3-pound brisket. Let me just say—the brisket was incredible! Juicy, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The pizza was good with a nice fresh crust, but I probably wouldn’t order the Classico again since the garlic flavor tasted more like garlic salt, which was a bit too salty for me. Still, not bad at all—just not my personal favorite. Overall, this is such a quiet and quaint stop worth checking out. Just a quick tip: there’s no air conditioning, so it’s best to come during the cooler part of the day (unless you’re someone who doesn’t mind the heat!). Keep exploring, keep tasting, and keep the adventure alive!
We went here on a weekday evening to avoid the weekend crowds. There was a short line to order but it went pretty slow. My friends who ordered through the QR code got their orders, especially the drinks, much quicker. If you order from the line, you are given a pager. If you order on your phone using the QR code, you will be notified when you order is ready at the bar. Food is hit or miss. Ordered the BBQ Pie pizza on a friend's recommendation and it was tasty. I do like the crust too. The pepperoni pizza was thinner and delicious too. The garlic artichoke pizza was a hit too. We recommend ordering the pizzas. The ribs were very salty. We didn't even finish half of the order. I do not recommend ordering those at all. I feel like the side dishes like elote and beans were okay. I guess we expected just good old fashioned elote and baked beans but instead got something different and the flavors just weren't working for us.
This place has a lot of potential, which is why our visit was a bit disappointing. The beer itself was good, but the overall experience felt neglected. Many of the tables had ketchup and sauce residue on them, everything felt sticky, and only one of the two restrooms was working. Even then, the urinal in the functioning restroom was out of order, which led to a constant line. This could be a great spot, especially given its location, but it honestly feels like more effort could be made — perhaps because there isn’t much competition in the area. With better cleanliness and basic maintenance, this could easily be a much better place.
Julian Beer Company wasn't too bad. The line appeared to be pretty long, but you can scan the QR code and order (Skip the dang old line they say). We order the brisket and smoked wings. The brisket was pretty good, but the smoked wings might as well of been dog treats. The Buffalo they served with it was also trash. The street corn was also for the birds, we didn't even finish it. We actually went back later in the day for more brisket if that says anything about the brisket. The Buffalo sauce was too tangy and had a weird floral taste to it... maybe rethink that recipe. The street corn had thousand island dressing or something. Also rethink that recipe, just do a basic "off the street" street corn recipe and it would be bomb. Just roast some corn over a fire, de cob it, add some Mexican mayo/cream, salt, cojita, and Chile powder and you'd do great. That soup of "street corn" yall have is actually not good and pretty bad. I loved the service, beer, and atmosphere. Will be back to get more MEAT.
Julian Beer Co was not bad. It really is a great place to hangout and unwind despite it being a hub of hustle and bustle. People come and go so getting a spot even on a Sunday afternoon is no big deal. The place is spacious with inside and outside seating.Their menu lists at least 15minutes to prepare you individual order, but it seemed like food was coming out quickly. I ordered the Smoked Brisket, the sausage, street corn and Mac n cheese and Hawaiian bread all which need to be ordered separately. The cost was about 34 dollars so it can get pricey. Still, the amount of food was plenty. I'll start by saying that all the food could be drastically better. The Mac n Cheese was the worst being rubbery right from the beginning. It was very bland and dry. The Smoked Brisket, though tender, was also dry and lacking taste. The highlights were the sausage which was very flavourful. The Street corn was really good too and tasted fresh. All in all, it is a good place to come by when you visit Julian.
We got the brisket and the ribs and the street corn. And none of it was very good. The street corn was soupy and didn’t taste fresh at all, and the brisket was really salty and dried out and the ribs were also very dry and not very tender. The beer and cidar was very good and the casual atmosphere was fun, but you needed to bus your own table And wipe it off yourself. If we go back again, I think I would try the pizza.
My husband and I came to the Julian Beer Company to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary on the recommendation of my sister, who had a good experience here. I generally give a lot of grace in my restaurant reviews, but it was tougher with this one because we didn't have a great experience, but they have many good reviews and my sister had a good experience. I have to say that some of this was that the food was really not stellar, some of it was poor timing, and some of it is a matter of personal taste. I have gone ahead and given my opinion, but you should take these things into account before deciding to eat here or not. There is no wait staff. You order and pay at the counter then go and pick it up when they page you. There is really no other interaction with any staff member. We briefly were able to ask the young lady filling the ice machine to take a picture of us. We had to wipe down our own table before we sat down because no one was doing that. There are long tables that you share with others in two buildings, lots of outside seating at smaller tables and counter type seating all along the balcony railing. We got 2 half pound orders of brisket, 2 mac & cheese sides, one street corn mix side, one potato salad side and water to drink. It came to $55 with tip. We went about 4:30 to beat the dinner crowd. I was a little leary about going that early, thinking the food may not be as fresh. Turns out I was right. The brisket was not fresh and soaked in grease that was also pooled in the bottom of the serving containers. The slices either had a lot of fat on them, were dry end pieces, and overcooked meat shreds from the bottom of the pan that were soaked in oil. It was Iike they scraped the bottom of older stuff in the lunch pan and divided it up between us. I tried dabbing some of the oil off with napkins and soaked 4 napkins. I transferred my meat to a paper plate to get it out of the grease, and the plate became soaked with it. After cutting out all the fat from the meat, I probably had about 2/3 left. I tasted it, and it was very salty and very dry. I figured I would just put a lot of barbecue sauce on it. I tasted the sauce, and it was like thin tomato sauce with lots of chili powder in it. Not to my taste at all. I ended up mixing some of the ranch dressing they had there with the barbecue sauce to cut the chili powder taste and make it tolerable. On to the mac & cheese, which looked really good, but was luke warm and had very little taste at all, very dry and bland. I could hardly taste cheese at all. There was a crust of toasted cheese on the top and very little anywhere else and not saucy at all, just dry cooked macaroni that was dried out and crusty on the inside bottom and sides of the serving container. The street corn mix with black beans was a cold dish. The corn did not look roasted. It was more like canned corn and beans in ranch dressing with chili powder and cotijo sprinkled on top. It wasn't bad, but lacked that nice roasted corn taste. The potato salad was the best of the batch with large chunks of red potatoes in a creamy dill sauce, but it would have been better if the potatoes were at least bite size. We didn't bother trying to get anyone's attention about the meat and mac & cheese because they had become busy and there really wasn't anyone around to talk to except the order takers with a line of people waiting to order. Overall, it was a very disappointing dinner celebration. The picture is of the 4 grease soaked napkins in the brisket serving containers on the grease soaked paper plate with all the fat and burnt pieces I cut off of what I ate. My husband's serving was similar.
